The groundbreaking 2.4 Firmware update which boasts of in-game XMB access is reported to brick the Xbox 360 in more ways than one (both literally and figuratively). Sony Defense Force has received an anonymous tip from a poster by the name of “XboxHater4Lyfe” that updated his Playstation 3 to the latest 2.4 firmware update and then subsequently turned on his Xbox 360 only to find that his 360 had received the infamous “RROD” system error.
Clearly, this is a sign. We’ll update you on this story as we receive further developments. We expect Microsoft to make an announcement soon.

Denis Dyack, vocal videogame trolling fanboy, has posted yet again on Gaming Age in a failed attempt to hype up his megaton failure of a game Too Human (reported development cost between $80-100 million and spanning 15 years in development). In his statement, he has made the bold claim that Too Human will outscore Haze and Lair.

Glad to see a decent response so far. We may have to “Wambulance” for all the mods claiming the internet is not F41R!
The currency is the tag and metascore is the metric - don’t try to change the bet. All those “for” and “against” get their tags changed. To all the mods - pick your meta score. Here is some troll reference from your camp to save you time:
Haze (PS3) Avg Ratio: 57%
Lair (PS3) Avg Ratio: 56%
Don’t go to high or you may show your true colors. No more crying, no more trolling, just pick. I would suggest the tag stay for 6 months but I am pretty easy on that.
The “Against” seem in the minority so it should not take you too long to change the tags. |
Our response to Denis: put up or shut up.
Given that Sony Defense Force has given both Lair and Haze a perfect 10, we’re a bit skeptical that Too Human can live up to these lofty expectations. We’ll take that bet to the bank, Denis.

No surprises here… even thieves see the value of the PS3 over the Xbox 360.
This Christmas, as my flight touched down in Houston, I heard that my house had been burglarized.
What did our Grinchy thieves steal? My husband’s car — and my PlayStation 3, on loan from Sony.
[...]
So, were the perps behind our theft hard-core gamers or just looking to sell the console for a profit? Hard to tell. But even if they couldn’t distinguish a PlayStation from a Game Boy, the hype surrounding the hard-to-get machine certainly raised its profile. The thieves bypassed our year-old Xbox 360 and our ages-old Nintendo GameCube in favor of the sleek black PS3.

On Sony’s official blog they just confirmed what’s going to be in their 2.4 (ie XBL killer) update:
A new PLAYSTATION 3 firmware update (v2.36) will be launching soon, improving system stability when playing select PlayStation format software titles. We’re also happy to officially report that the 2.40 system software update for PS3 will include “XMB” access in-game. The update will also include “trophies,” an exciting new feature that we’ll be providing more details on soon, as well as some other new enhancements. We’ve talked about some of this on the blog previously and know that many of you can’t wait to get your hands on these features. You can expect us to share all of the official details shortly.

Microsoft continues to show why they’re the laughing stock of the industry. Forza 3 is scheduled to appear sometime next year, but unfortunately it will be appearing on 2 discs. It’s going to be fun listening to the horde of Xbox fanatics that will justify switching discs mid-way through a race.
Perhaps someone should have notified Microsoft that they should be progressive with their design by implementing an industry standard Blu-Ray drive with the Xbox 360 instead of the archaic DVD standard they embraced for their premature next-gen system.
