It begins: PS3 outsells 360 in July NPD (US)
PlayStation 3 sales will be higher than Xbox 360′s for the month of July, Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter said today. In a note to investors, Pachter predicted sales of 160,000 PlayStation 3s and 115,000 Xbox 360s when the NPD results are released next week.
Of course, he also predicted sell-through of 330,000 Wii, more than double PlayStation 3. So it wouldn’t exactly be a victory. The bump in predicted sales comes from the fact that the PlayStation 3 pricing adjustments hit in July, the drop in Xbox sales from the early negative publicity resulting from the “red ring of death” warranty issue.
Pachter predicts total industry sales of $425 million, up 13.5% from July 2006.
Shouldn’t the headline of this article read something like “Analyst predicts PS3 to outsell 360 in July NPD” instead of stating it as a fact.

You know, this is misleading. This is in JAPAN ONLY. Xbox 360 is still outselling PS3 in the US, and in Europe. Nice try losers.
Sure lets not mention its for a limited time in a limited region, even if it out sales the 360 for a month or so in unit sales in Jp and the US its still under 5milloin units world wide….and the 360 is at nearly 11.
I have said it all along the PS3 is to costly the fan base would eat it up if they sold it for under 500 at launch and doing so would ensure BR as well but they they are doing it they will barely cross a couple million a year at these unit prices.
Sony needs to get its act together and get these units in homes for 400-500$ (under 700USD world wide) its the only way to fight the 360 who has a stable and wide niche outside of asia and the WII thats almost everywhere.

He is correct that it looks like PS3 out sold 360 in July, most likely to price cut. But what wasn’t mentioned is it took 9 momths for the uber powerful ultimate machine to out sell 360. This cazn’t be due to lack of supply like the Wii, I’ve seen PS3 on store shelves since December. And soon after PS3 sold more, the 360 sold more than the PS3 once again.

Not to mention with Halo coming out watch for a surge in 360 sales.
Well NPD has come out and guess what, the ps3 AGAIN failed to catch the 360.
Oh and lair is getting bad reviews as is warhawk and Heavenly Sword. And Bioshock is becoming the best rated game since ocarina of time.

Apparently someone jumped the gun, because the 360 has outsold Sony for the 9th month in a row. July’s figures were officially released now so I guess this article is kind of pointless.. Nice try though. It’s all just wishful thinking I guess. Sure glad that PS3 “Price Drop” is working so well.
