EGM reviews Heavenly Sword
Praise is coming in across the board for the Sony exclusive Heavenly Sword with the latest coming from EGM. The scores are 8.0, 8.0, 9.o. Most of the negatives come from the fact that it’s single player only and the game is on the shorter side (think God of War). Sounds like potential game of the year material right here.
The other PS3 exclusive game reviewed in EGM was Warhawk which came in with a 8.5, 7.0, 8.5. The scores were obviously docked points for being online multiplayer only so if you take away the bias you are left with yet another PS3 exclusive coming in with 8s and 9s. Warhawk releases tomorrow on PSN and retail stores.
Looks like the PS3 domination begins this Fall.
So a couple of mediocre games (Warhawk, Lair, and Heavenly Sword) which are receiving high 7s to low 8s overall are going to dethrone Bioshock (9.7 metacritic), Halo 3 (over 1 million preorders and counting), and Mass Effect. I think you kids need to go back to school.

I would be excited too if my damn near 1 year old system finally got its first good game. But really, thats all these games are…. Good. Not great. If you want to play a great game, then buy a 360 and play Bioshock. I do believe its now called the best reviewed game of all time….

the low quality, cheap console have some good games but just like HD-DVD is not going anywere.

The scores were obviously docked points for not being on the PS3, so if you take away the bias you are left with yet another Xbox 360 exclusive coming in with a 9. Bioshock released Tuesday, August 21 to retail stores.

PS3up, the RROD doesnt happen nearly as often as you ps3 fans say it does. and yeah, it plays them.

No way in hell is the PS3 going to take the lead with a piss poor lineup such as Heavenly Sword and Warhawk.
It goes without saying that an online-only console title will not sell great amounts on a 4 million install base that does not have a huge amount of online users.
As for Heavenly Sword, here are the facts according to several review sites, even the ones that gave ‘high scores:’
-This ‘action game’ is only six hours long. There are shooters that are longer than this.
-There are only four enemies in the whole game: soldiers, shield soldiers, bowmen, and ninjas. Not only that, but you meet them all the minute you start playing; there’s no variety in the whole game.
-All battles take place in arenas; it’s not like God of War where you can fight from a room to a hall to a rooftop to another rooftop and so on; you literally go from one closed off circular area to another, pressing on after beating the huge number of enemies pitted against you, and let me say again that you do this for six hours.
-All bosses can only be killed via active button presses ala God of War; but unlike God of War, you literally have no time to push the button, and have to memorize the whole setup as you fight and push the buttons before they even show up on the screen.
-No new weapons, no special abilities, no unlockables whatsoever (aside from the artwork that you can get either by beating the game so fast or just simply downloading it online).
Again, the first game to hit the trend of ‘online-only’ and a six hour repetitive slasher with no substance is not going to put the PS3 in the lead this year.

Just thought i’d mention some of the games you can get today that last longer than 6 hours, and don’t cost $600 to play.
Well i yea i pay $600 for my ps3 and i just reserve the $200 psp lite along with other Sony stuff, {games and accessories} so i dint pay $600 dollars for just one game there are more games that are coming out that look good, Folklore got a Demo for the ps3 network and it look good. Ninja Gaiden Zigma i finish that one, And there are more good ones out coming out. Metal Gear, final fantasy 13 Etc. and on AOTS they mention that 35% of 360 expect to get the RROD {Fatmen} so i think that pay $450+ dollars for a 360 Elite console that is only going to last 6 months is not a good investment.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma was a port from the Xbox. THere is a 3 year warrenty on the 360 for the RROD, so its not like it is junk if you get it.

Ya know I just really started laughing after seeing that. I mean lets see, we have the 360 with BioShock being an insanely big hit. We have Halo 3, and by the way I can’t wait to see your review on that. And oh yeah how are things going with the PS3 Call of Duty 4 beta? Oh that’s right you don’t have one… And ya know I forgot Mass Effect, but I forgot that’s going to bomb as well and Bioware should have made it for the PS3!
And guys remember SDF will most likely say it, Metroid hasn’t sold in years, why the last big Metroid game was Metroid on the NES. Lord knows that’s not going to sell cuz I mean the Wii has bombed right?
So ok we have Nintendo offering a fun system at a low cost. We have Microsoft pushing a ton of killer titles out the door this year, and I think we all know BioShock is most likely taking Game of the Year. But OH NOES!!! It’s over cuz the PS3 is getting Warhawk and Heavenly Sword!!!
