While I admire how Killzone 2 looks, I can’t help but notice how that guard just stands there for a few seconds in the next to last gif, before he reacts to you shooting at him.

GRAPHICS don’t come from the processor, AKA PS3′s CELL. they come from the GPU, PS3 just used a mediocre graphics card, sony made a fatal error with PS3, they made the processor amazing, but the hardware AROUND the processor is mediocre.
All these videos do is prove that 360 is capable of graphics beyond this.
Enjoy your retarded grey game, if the devs weren’t so terrible and lazy they’d add some originality and color.

Before I continue let me say that I do not own any console at this time…
I don’t see, in those videos, near the quality of that fake gameplay teaser they presented almost a “decade” ago…but that was Sony’s first big lie, then it came the “not-so-world-wide-launch” because there were not enough PS3s (?!?)…then the incredible high price (at least here in EU), then it came Lair (Liar would be better..). What’s next?
I know Sony from along way, and they are a company that keeps failing in a lot of issues for decades – the main one is that they don’t hear they’re own customers.. Playstation was a milestone because Sony seemed not to translate those issues into it – for casual user Playstation’s brand was almost something apart from Sony’s name. But now, they are back, because they think they “own the game”. Not mine, they don’t…
And I see this videos and dont’t see much in them behond F.E.A.R., except that this last one brought an innovative gameplay by the time of it’s release..
By the way, PC games like Bioshock, Unreal, Crysis, CoD4, World in Conflict, etc.. are, in this days, looking better then that Killzone 2 fake trailer – and they are “here” and are playable..
Killzone 2 is still a touchy subject for most. Remember that first (admittedly amazing) “in-game” video they showed at.. I think it was E3 2005 (I could be wrong)? The one that was admitted (BY SONY ITSELF) to be all CG, running on an eight-thousand dollar computer with two video cards that are worth more than your car?
Yeah, that one.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d be the first to say this looks amazing if these guys hadn’t already beaten me to it. The “grey” look really appeals to me, as does the suggested atmosphere – the ruined city, the tattered rebellion against the Helghast, etc. If the game actually looks and runs as nicely as these animations suggest, then I would definitely look into buying a PS3, as ancient gaming tradition demands we wait until the console has harnessed its true potential before purchasing it.
However, until it actually comes out and I can see it with my own eyes, running on a piece of hardware that isn’t hidden from me, I’m going to regard these animations as – as Penny Arcade officially named the term – “Bullshots”. Just like those promo videos from Sony, touting how amazing the PS2 was and how it made Toy Story look like horse crap, these animations seem a little too good to be true, especially considering how the original was touted to be so graphically intense and amazing and actually turned out to be closer to a visual representation of feces.
Oh, and one last thing? No matter how amazing the game looks, it should play well. Don’t try too hard to sell this game to us based on how amazing the graphics are.
