$399 PS3 Coming This Xmas, 360 Officially Dead and Buried in North America

Here’s how Sony’s platform pricing will shape up by the holiday shopping season:
80GB PlayStation 3: $499.99
40GB PlayStation 3: $399.99
Spider-Man 3 Blu-ray movie pack in with one, or both
PlayStation 2: $99.99
So this Xmas the next gen battle will be between the $450 360 Elite with last gen DVD media vs $399 PS3 with 50GB Blu-Ray drive, built-in WiFi and free online (and Wii for those too poor to upgrade to either).
Really, for consumers with a mind of their own there is no contest.

C’mon. You get a stripped down version of the PS3 for $400, or for another $50, you could get the badass version of the 360.

This is stupid, you assume that Sony will decrease prices and MS won’t. The price drop tripled xbox sales in the UK, and the ps3 even with a price drop couldn’t catch the 360 in the midst of the RROD scandal.
Besides, this holiday MS has halo 3. and Mass effect. and PGR4. The ps3 is gonna be pwned out the ass and you know it.

If it’s true, it’s basically Sony saying, “we failed, we entirely screwed ourselves, and are willing to lose money for damage control”.
I can hear everyone saying “but MS did it too – RROD and billions of dollars thrown away!!!”. However, there’s a major difference – MS is responding to customers who already purchased the 360 – Sony is still trying to convince people to BUY THE PS3!
at that price point, sony will simply be bleeding money – while their existing library still won’t really drive people to buy the PS3 over the competition…
what it comes down to is – a) not enough/good enough titles to drive console sales b) fewer exclusives to justify exclusive title development & the unforgettable c) PS3 is much harder to develop and deliver AAA game experiences = sony has repeatedly shot themselves in the foot
and, of course, a price drop by Sony will == a price drop by MS…
Sony *might* get a dramatic increase in sales over such a drop – but will that equate to the exclusive games that will really get people to pick it over the 360 & the Wii – will it be enough???

More of both consoles (360 & PS3) in the hands of more gamers, and more incentive on the part of both Sony & MS to pony up the deals and exclusives.

This is my first time at this site(saw it lampooned on PA, had to see if it was real), and the best I can come up with is that the website itself is a massive joke. Having both a 360 and a PS3, I can tell you that I play the 360 nearly every night(Bioshock ftw), and I’ve not put a game in my PS3 since The Darkness came out. And that was just to update my system.
But if you want to defend Sony, there are plenty of reasonable ways to do so. Here’s a few tips.
1. Do some fact-checking. Always start here.
2. Stick with the actual strengths of the system, not with the weaknesses of the other system.
3. If you are going to talk about future products, be sure to take into account that companies other than sony also release new products.
4. Buy a 360. You’d be surprised how much fun you can have when you stop being a blind defender of a company/platform.
And finally,
5. Have fun. It’s just a game.

Even if you could get a 40GB PS3 for $400 (Although a 120GB 360 Elite for $50 more still sounds like the better deal), why would you spend that uch money on a console that has no good games. The only decent game the PS3, are cross platform and you can play on the 360 ad probably even the Wii. Lowering the price of a console is good, but you have to have software to back it up….Period! Maybe sometime in 2009 people might start buying PS3′s. That seems to be the year that Sony might start getting a few good exclusive games…Maybe….
Pissy 3 will be dead and buried long before the Xbox 360 or the Wii fade away. Give me one intelligent argument why that isn’t so and we can rationally discuss it.

The problem with this site is the writers aren’t intelligent enough to come up with believable spin and lies. The insane exaggeration is comical rather than convincing, which seems to be the only draw for this site. They may be proponents of the idea that any publicity is good, but my personal experience shows differently. I own a ps2 and I planned to purchase a ps3 until the horrible Sony marketing disuaded me. This site provides more of the same.

The 360 is not dead and buried, and even if it was, it was the wii that killed it. If you looked at official statistics, they state that both 360 and wii have sold more than twice as much as the PS3.
