I think Sony bought it upon themeselves with any and all negative reviews of games and etc. For years they where talking up the PS3 as the "be all and end all of consoles", but yet they keep fucking up. With all the talk up about the PS3 as this uber-console I think the media take a game and review them more critcally than a 360 or a Wii game.

So no, the media doesn't owe Sony a apology; Sony owes the consumers an apology for not delievering what they promised.

If anyone owes anyone an apology its Sony to the consumer.

Remember the TRex demo for the original playstation and how it looked just like Jurasic Park. Now remember how horrible that TRex in Tomb Raider looked in comparison.

Remember what the Cell processor was supposed to be capable of. I vividly remember that Final Fantasy Ball room dance and how there online was supposed to be like The Matrix. How about Sadam supposively purchasing a shitload of PS2's so that he could launch nukes. Good Times.

Remember how powerful the emotion engine is? Well neither does Sony because they haven't been able to deliver yet again. Maybe Konami's MGS4 and Squares FF 13 will sell some systems but by the time it will be to little to late.

Sure, the screens used do show quite a bit of difference, even towards the in-game model's favor, but when you compare certain effects and details that weren't covered here, CGI still wins.

For example, the faces in the original were extremely realistic. If you don't remember, try watching the video again. It's like the developers severed someone's head and placed it on a 3D model. The in-game Killzone 2 shots don't look anywhere near as good or as varied, especially in expressions.

Also, note the difference in scenarios: CGI was in broad daylight, in-game was at night, and it goes without saying that the lighting effects will be better in darker areas.

But the biggest downfall, so far, in regards to the in-game Killzone 2 is the dialogue. I loved the original, which had a more 'OMG all-out war!' feel to it, like Call of Duty, but the new one feels... cliched and more movie-like.

@Truth: Why would that piss you off? Because I'm not drooling over a new game for a console I don't own yet (note the YET in this sntence, it's very important) when the visuals are at about the same level of appeal as a game I've owned for nearly a year and we have NO word on the gameplay yet?
Seriously, I'm about as unbiased as you'll get, at least on the internet. I like my 360, I like my Wii, and when I get around to buyign a PS3, I'll probably like that too.
The reason I don't own one yet, aside from living in Australia where they cost a thousand bucks, is that there are no titles selling it to me. Lair would have been one, but I've yet to see a single positive review for it that didn't come directly from a Sony affiliated source.
Heavenly Sword looks like a fun rental title.
Warhawk sounds like a great game.

But nothing else currently out on the PS3 appeals to me that I don't already have on the 360 from before it was ported over.
Maybe next year when Sony suddenly unveils a backlog of killer first party titles for the PS3 that everyone needs to own right away is when I'll consider peeling off a wad of brightly coloured bills and handing them over in exchange for one.
