Hey everyone…here is my editorial from the November issue of EGM, which should start hitting subscribers pretty soon. Just wanted to give everyone an official head’s up here on my blog as well.
Bollocks! John Davison is leaving us, yet we’re still getting Mr. Bean movies? All things British seem to be going wrong for us right now. Mr. Bean is easy enough to ignore. But John Davison? We’re really going to miss our second-favorite British import (sorry, John, the Beatles are still tops)–our former editorial director is leaving the company to form a new, family-focused media group.
So who’s replacing him? A guy who seems to get his kicks from knocking down Mr. Bean shows (even though he’s never seen one): me. I’ve taken over the role of the 1UP Network’s editorial director, which means I’ll be watching over editorial coverage across a whole lot more than just the pages of EGM, from 1UP.com to Games for Windows: The Official Magazine to GameVideos.com to MyCheats.com and more (podcasts, blogs, etc.). That’s a lot to manage!

FF VII Remake for PS 3 is a No-Go

Just recently Crisis Core producer Hideki Imaizumi quashed fan’s hopes by stating there were currently no plans for remake. If you need a second opinion, there’s always longtime FF character designer Tetsuya Nomura, who stated in a Dorimaga magazine interview back in June “it appears that there are often overseas rumors like ‘Are you currently developing a VII remake?’ My apologies, but were absolutely not making [such a game].” And finally, the company’s official response to the fanmade FF VII petition, which seems to settle the question for good:
“SQUARE ENIX of Japan, has no current plans to create a sequel or remake to that particular title at this time. This is not to say that it will never happen, it’s just that their development teams are currently focusing on numerous other projects. We hope this information has been of assistance.”
It’s been such a bad year for a 360 owner such as me. Hell, it’s not like there is anything to play like Oblivion, and Bioshock, and don’t forget Halo 3 and also Mass Effect. Damn I wish there were games to play on the 360 (sarcasm).
In other news, home delayed, sony too stupid to get rumble controllers in time for holiday. Wii6-0 domination to continue.
I remember that when the PS2 was on top, people were saying that EGM had a huge Sony bias. Now it has a Microsoft bias? Maybe its just accurately reviewing systems…maybe the “bias” is just a first sign of a market trend.

huh. the 360 is actually maxes out at 1080i and someway somehow can actually do 1080p without hdmi. don’t ask me how but thats what microsoft claims. but if you have an elite or one of the new premiums with hdmi, then it maxes out at 1080p.
