Monday Mail: Microsoft loses yet another fan

This weeks edition of Monday Mail is a letter from a very frustrated, former Microsoft fan about his encounter with the dreaded, but much expected Red Ring of Death

Jessie writes:
Note: this is being typed as it happens, so i appologize for any typos (feel free to edit this well enough to put it on the site)

To start, I got the RRoD (imagine that), sent it in for repair and was impressed by how fast they sent out a refurb (took about 2 weeks), but here is where it gets bad, I get my tracking number and punch it in on UPS’ web site to find that my Xbox 360 is being shipped to Los Reyes, Mexico, over 1500 mile from where I live, in Iowa. So i call them and they are “having trouble with their system”, I’m then put on hold for 5 minutes, the guy gets back on the line to ask me my address, phone number and email address, he tells me again he is having trouble with his system and i am put back on hold for another 5 minutes. When i am finally taken off hold he asked me if i requested that my console be sent to mexico, of course, i tell him “no, i asked that my console be sent to <my address> Tipton, IA, in the United States”, he asks me for my tracking number, i give it to him and again, i’m put on hold. when i finally get off he tells me my system is in transit to Los Reyes, Mexico. I told him “I understand that, but that isn’t where i live, i live in Iowa, in the united states” he asks “why is it being shipped to Los Reyes then?” i inform him that thats the reason i’m calling, because i want to know the answer to that question, and AGAIN, i’m put on hold so he can talk to his supervisor, I’m taken off hold so he can again tell me he needs to talk to his supervisor, and once again, put on hold, i’m let off hold and they tell me that i’ll be getting console by the end of next week. needless to say, this was aggravating, on top of everything i will miss out entirely on the Call Of Duty 4 beta and i will be unable to play Halo 3 on the 25th.

MS is bullshit

Sorry to hear about your troubles Jessie. Hopefully you’ll be able to get your 360 repaired with a chance to get a refund on all the games and accessories you bought for the faulty console. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise that you don’t get to play Halo 2.5 on the 25th… stay tuned for our continuing Halo 2.5 coverage leading up to the world’s first unbiased review of the game.

  1. MS = UPS

  2. maybe its being shipped to storage and youre getting a new one, shitcock

  3. I’m so sorry you had to go through that, Jessie. It seems however that it was for the best. :)
What you did wrong in the first place was getting a 360.

  4. Who are these people, I’ve never seen any of these people who send you letters.

OK, this site isn’t funny anymore, i’m bored. I’m gonna have fun playing halo 3(not 2.5 cuntmuscle) and you can go play lair again.

“Who are these people, I’ve never seen any of these people who send you letters.”

i’m the one this happened to, i’ll throw up some pics from the UPS trackin a bit later since i know none of you believe this story, but honest to god, this is EXACTLY how it happened.

2 notes, my name is spelled “Jesse” not “Jessie” and I dont hate Microsoft for it, it just strained or relationship… alot.

  7. This site is gonna be empty tomorrow…soo many peopel off playing Halo3.

Besides, this has gotten boring. It is too over the top and obviously a plant. before the idiocy was measured, but the guys in chagrs can’t resist winking at the camera. Calling tehir halo 3 review the most unbiased clinched it. They no thei rreputation. They aren’t even talking like playslaves anymore.

  8. ok i now know this is clear sarcasm. now the only problem i have is with the sony fags who post comments.

  9. HAHAHA, nowhere in that letter does it say ” i give up on microsoft” she’s just stating that she’s mad. Just because somebody gets mad at a company doesnt mean that they go to sony, which i dont understand why somebody would do that anyways, with their lack of good games. But really, All the sony games you guys have reviewed got 10/10, yet the xbox ones got 5/10 and 7/10, why? because your loyal to sony and jsut cant seem to get your head outta your asses and make a good review. Lair sucked, too bad you cant admit that.

  10. The one great thing about the Red Ring of Death is that it reflects worse on the PS3 than it does the 360…. Gamers are having to turn in their consoles for repairs, sometimes multiple times, and do they just sell their 360’s and buy a PS3? lol NOPE! They would rather deal with the stress of waiting for their 360 for weeks on end rather than go out an buy a PS3…. You Sony fanboys ask yourself why that is, and then you will realize why Sony is in a distant 3rd in the console war.

  11. first off, i’m a he, not a she. 2nd off, my xbox 360 was delivered to somebody in mexico, if mine doesn’t end up coming i’m going to bill gates himself. This whole situation just gets better and better.

  12. Oh, when Jesse called me yesterday and told me this, I just about fucking lost it, because it was so damn funny. Now that it’s posted on this site… it’s about 10 times funnier.

Especially the fanboy debate ensuing currently. When I told Jesse his article made the front page, we had a good, hard laugh.

Wow, SDF’s branching out into comedy?

  14. My sister’s husband had the same problem but not that worse. It got sent to his cousin’s house instead of his house. He was at home waiting for weeks and never came. He than check the tracking number to find out that it got ship to his brother’s house. This isnt the first case that this sort of stuff have happen. Its microsoft’s fault for putting him on hold and dont know what to do about it. But its not microsoft fault that it got sent to the wrong place. 40% of return xbox and people there are going as fast as they can to return it asap. that put alot of stress on them and shit like this well it happens. I’m a ps3 fan always and will always be one. I talk to them and they answer my question preety fast. Maybe microsoft need to hire….lets just say they need to train them a lil better

  15. For those of you that said Lair suck. Have you even play the game to make that kind of judgemental call? I forone never play Halo but never will i say any game on any console suck. Lair is a great game for me I have no problem with the controls one bit.

  16. “the world’s first unbiased review of the game.”

    dictionary.com
    un·bi·ased
    –adjective
not biased or prejudiced; fair; impartial.
    —Synonyms fair, equitable, tolerant, neutral.

Any site named Sony Defense Force clearly does not fit that definition. You shouldn’t count on visitors to a site written in English not understanding the English language.

  17. the reason i contacted SDF is because i knew if anyone would make a big deal about this, they would

  18. @everlast88

You sure the tracking number is correct? I had this happen five (yes 5) times on my digital receiver in 2003. Here’s how it happened:
    1. I send receiver in for repairs
    2. The receiver is fix0red, I get UPS tracking number
    3. I track the receiver and it goes to… UK (I don’t live there)
    4. I call the company and they say that the tracking number is wrong and give me a new one
    5. New one does the same thing, only with a different country

This goes on untill I one day get a call telling me that my receiver is waiting at the local UPS spot (call came from the UPS people).

  19. well when i called them they never said anything about a wrong tracking number, after a google search i found i’m not the only person this has happened to, how M$ can confuse Iowa, USA for Mexico is astounding

  20. Easy, they both have O’s in them, dumbass.

  21. So where is the review for Halo 2.5 because I can personally tell you that Halo 3 rocks.

  22. Funny. My brother had the same problem with Sony…

  23. PROTIP: UPS is a DELIVERY firm. MS is NOT a delivery firm.

Therefore MS = not the problem.

  24. Update: my xbox 360 will be delivered tomorrow but today made shit a bit worse, i went out to pick up a copy of Halo 3, to open it and find the 2nd disc scratched to shit (SDF did not lie about this) so i bring it into back into best buy and exchange it, open my next copy at the counter, again, 2nd disc, scratch to shit, go back, pick up the last 2 copies they have shook them, the disc is bouncing around in both. the old lady at the counter says all of them i see behind the counter had the same problem, there were ALOT back there and i’m not talking 10 or even 20, i’m talking 2 full boxes and a stack of about 30 on top of a cart, so this problem is obvisouly wide spread, so i get my money back and head across the street to GameStop, they tell me that they’ve only had the problem with 3 copies but they were now sold out of the limited edition, i head across the street to target to find only 1 copy left, i get it taken out of the case and shake it, it seems fine, and it is, all though you could tell the game was on the verge of coming off, i promptly re-secured the disc and went on my way. thanks to best buy and target i now have 4 separate receipts and one game. MS better get this problem fixed soon, they already have RRoD on their hands and now this, I’ll hate to see what happens next.

    -Jesse (everlast88)

  25. Yeah, Microsoft needs to stop giving jobs to disgrunteled former Sony employees.

  26. @Everlast
Once again, this is not microsoft, or bungie’s fault. Its the factory’s that produce the game and case. Dont go blaming microsoft or bungie for some other company’s problem. Just like the problem with your box being shipped, its UPS’s job to ship the xbox, not microsoft’s, so know who to blame before contacting a joke website like SDF.
