Rockstar: LA Noire impossible on 360

LA Noire PS3

Some new and interesting details about Rockstar’s much hyped LA Noire have recently been leaked out. It seems LA Noire is exclusive to PS3 by default seeing as how it’s impossible to put on the Xbox 360. Looks like the Blu-ray drive isn’t as pointless as MS F.U.D. would have you believe. More on this breaking news as we receive it.

More details:

* The game will be a free-roaming title with a historically-accurate recreation of Los Angeles in 1947.
* Team Bondi has even hired a costume designer to research the clothing of the era so the game’s attire can be accurate.
* Aside from main story, side missions will be based on actual cases pulled straight of the newspapers of 1947.
* A US Marine plays a big role in the story.
* Not so exclusive…but LA Noire definitely ain’t coming to Xbox 360, the size of the game is an obstacle to this.

  1. This is just one more reason to get a PS3 over a 360 if you are looking at one or the other. From day one of the Next-Gen consoles I have always been in favor of the PS3 because of its hardware and its roots. This is just now especially showing why the PS3 is superior to the 360 and how important the blu-ray player is a long with knowing the game you are making will have a HDD along side it.

I personally have been a PC gamer longer than anything, 10 years, while my console experience has not been as in-depth but have played all consoles and have chose PC because of the keyboard and mouse control scheme. But no with UT3 coming with native K/M support I will not be building a new computer but buying a PS3 and a Sony Bravia TV instead. I think the PS3 is going to mature in to something people haven’t even thought of yet. The PS3 has endless posibilities and an OPEN, FREE network as the 360 has a CLOSED, NOT FREE network. Which network do you think with have the most in-depth and FREE content?

  2. No Surprice Here Lost Oddice is going to be 4 CDs it would only take One Blue-ray Disk so No surprice, We know the 360 is going down hill.

  3. I would like to know where the sources are for this story?
    @PS3UP
Last time I checked the 360 has a pretty killer line-up for the rest of this year (Halo 3 making $300 million dollars in a week is impressive by any means) so yeah the 360 is going downhill by all means (your a fucking idiot that has his head so far up your ass that you can’t see straight)
    @Telzon
If I remember correctly the developers/publishers can charge you to play there games on PSN. So in theory you can pay to play on PSN and be charged just to play seperate titles. The 360 marketplace is FREE, but yes you do have to pay to play and I HAVE NEVER had a problem with it (besides Sept 25 when there was over 1 million people playing halo3 at once)

  4. lol. Yeah, going downhill. it’s really smart of Rockstar to create a game just for the PS3rd place, that way they can hope to sell to that huge install base of what????? 5 million? WHy would they want to put a game out on thr 360 or the Wii? They only have a install base of 11 million or so.. I know if I was a game developer, I would waste all my time trying to figure out the PS3rd places architecture in hope of seelling to that huge part of the population that owns a PS3. lol I notice you Failstation owners like to gloat that the Playstation network is free…. lol Well thats the very definition of “you get what you pay for” Look at Rockbands online multiplayer. You cant even send frend invites on the PS3 version because the service isnt equipped. Even the Wii version can send direct friend invites using those horrible Wii codes… You know when Nintendo is outsmarting you in the online world, that you are doing something horribly wrong…. But you know, its free so….. Who would want to pay 13 cents a day for a quality online service huh? Not Sony fans, especially since you just wasted 60,000 pennies on your PS3… ha ha ha

  5. Who would ever buy a Xbox 360 with this game coming out? I’m glad I made the intelligent leap into getting the most powerful console on the market. The future of gaming will not be able to be held in a DVD, that is why Blu-ray will make the PS3 the true winner.

I think Xbox Live with have the most in-depth and Free content.

  7. Isn’t this the game that Sony paid a lot of money so it would be an exclusive? Guess using the same tactics as Microsoft would help Sony a little bit.

Besides, this game is coming out in 2 years time and there’s little information at this time. It’s not going to help sell units right now.

  8. its going to be the best game of the decade, i just know it

  9. @blasphemy

Actually the future of gaming might be download service (such as Steam). There fore blu-ray might be worthless. BTW “the most powerful console on the market” isn’t always the future of gaming (any1 remember the Atari Jaguar, 3DO, and NEO GEO?).

I’m not buying an unproven game for an unproven console in 2 years. I’ll stick to Halo 3 thank you!

  11. Disclaimer: I enjoy all three of my consoles.

It is however good to see a developer playing to the strengths of a system. Alot of great games are exclusives because they can focus on the abilitites of that console. Thats why MP3 was good on the Wii because of the control. Halo 3 was good on the 360 because of Xbox Live. Hopefully this game will be good on the PS3 because of blu-ray and the awesome tech specs on the PS3.

  12. Stick to halo 3 so Two years from now you are going to be playing Halo 3? People like you is what keeping the 360 down hill when it comes to games, just because you play one game for years and years and never buy another one for a long time thats bad for business.

  13. thanks for the source, oh wait

keep your gritty realistic recreation of… what again? some gangster shooter? you can have it, no contest. No really, i am glad you have that shit

i like my games enjoyable, not crammed full of graphical whoring and shitty plot and no entertainment beyond watching them like a movie

news flash: most movies are 1.5 hrs
thats how much goodness your games put out

  14. ps3up

i dont know whats with that guy but i will stick with my 360

i dont care about superiority, performance, blew-ray or nothing. Xbox360 is more fun. Xbox360 to ps3 is what ps2 was to xbox original: slightly worse graphics but huge sales and massive library of games (analogically speaking of course)

  15. *just finished reading the wiki on l.a. noire*

Lulz, I’ll be playing orange box, mass effect. AC and Rock back and Halo wars.

  17. I really don’t see anything special about this, I mean it seems interesting, but I really don’t tink its gonna be a PS3 seller. Even if I did I’d hold my breath(remember Lair?). It sounds like The Godfather with a historical twist to me.

@PS3UP It’s not like your gonna be changing the discs every 10 mins. I just dont see whats the big deal with a few more disks. And whats wrong with playing a great game? Personally I’m not really a fan of the halo franchise but what your saying is that by going back and playing the games we loved that makes us less hardcore gamers. Grow up, and realize your console is losing.

@blasphemy Its true PS3 is the more advanced console. But if LA Noire really needed that much more space, it could have been on a separate disc, its not like you switch them every hour. I want a gaming console, not a dvd player.

  18. This is just one more reason to get a PS3 over a 360 if you are looking at one or the other. From day one of the Next-Gen consoles I have always been in favor of the PS3 because of its hardware and its roots.

—How? Do you favor the losing console or something? That’s a bad strategy.

This is just now especially showing why the PS3 is superior to the 360 and how important the blu-ray player is a long with knowing the game you are making will have a HDD along side it.

—The PS3 and the 360′s graphics are basically at a standstill, with both systems producing the same quality. As for data, Blu Ray can hold 50Gbs, but it cannot compress audio or textures or anything for that matter. So while you have a 40mb sound file on a PS3 game, it only takes up less than 1mb on a 360 DLDVD Disc.

The PS3 has endless posibilities and an OPEN, FREE network as the 360 has a CLOSED, NOT FREE network. Which network do you think with have the most in-depth and FREE content?

—How is it open? And how is Xbox live closed? Either way, why do you think Xbox 360 owners arw willing to pay $50 for a year/13 mo.? Because It’s worth it. Sony is giving it to the customer because they need to. They need sales and that’s giving the customer what they want… except for good titles for online play. That’s why Sony is losing badly.

    @PS3Up

I played Halo 2 for over 2 and a half years, so I don’t think its unreasonable to assume I will play Halo 3 for that long. As for that hurting 360 game sales, the 360s industry leading attach ratio begs to differ.

See, unlike you, I am a gamer, not a fanboy. I can play any great game, regardless of platform, because I value great games, and not the name of the company on the box that plays it…

Seriously, why care about what system is “best”? If you are a real gamer, you’d want to play the great games on all the systems, and not let some dumb blind loyalism taint your world, as being loyal to something because of a name is absurd.

“On September 10, 2007 Take Two announced the game was delayed to 2009 fiscal year”

2009 guys. You might find it ported over to the Xbox 720 (or whatever) by then. Or maybe the cost of a PS3 will have reduced to only a small fortune by then.

I actually used to like coming to the site to see what crap you guys were spewing, but now that I know the truth about your site, the WWE-type “entertainment” purpose of it, I will no longer visit.

I know that there are actual Sony fanboys who actually live and die by this crap you put on this site, hell, look at some of the posts above. But the fact of the matter is that this site is fake, designed to make fun of fanboys, both 360 and PS3. Gamers stay losing.

  23. @PS3UP
“People like you is what keeping the 360 down hill when it comes to games, just because you play one game for years and years and never buy another one for a long time thats bad for business.”

So Xbox 360 has the highest game attach ratio for no good reason? Last year the ratio was well over 12 games / console owner. This year it’s 6.3.

I’d like to inform you all that Team Bondi is owned by Sony Computer Entertainment. Might be a reason why they can say that it’s not going for the Xbox 360… Kinda like why Halo 3 can’t come to PS3 :)

Found the source for the news too:

  24. I’m going to laugh when this game comes out on the Wii. (limited hardware, snicker)
Seriously, it’s doubtful whether Sony’s still going to be around in 09.
Like I said, if SCE doesn’t start producing profits soon (or at least a major turnaround in software sales) Sony’s going to sack them and go back to appliances.

  25. @xeacons
“Like I said, if SCE doesn’t start producing profits soon (or at least a major turnaround in software sales) Sony’s going to sack them and go back to appliances.”

Eh, I doubt that they’ll be throw in the towel that easily. M$ stuck around despite the lack of money made. They just will take the hit and keep moving.

  26. “Who would ever buy a Xbox 360 with this game coming out? I’m glad I made the intelligent leap into getting the most powerful console on the market.”

Why didn’t people buy the Neo-Geo when it was the most powerful console on the market?

  27. People didn’t buy the Dreamcast when it was on the market. Not only was it the most powerful console out, but it also had compelling titles and the first console online game service ever.

  28. Anyone that thinks that just because Sony is set to finally win a format war that it means that disc is dead.

While sites like Gametap and Steam are good for SOME games it can’t be the future of gaming and entertainment. Imagine what the Halo 3 launch would’ve been like if it was all through Xbox’s website? If you’re thinking that stores like Best Buy, Gamestop, and Circuit City would have nothing to do and nothing to sell you’d be correct.

Also consider that there is a still HUGE, GIGANTIC, ENORMOUS number of people that STILL don’t have high speed internet access. And for those that have it download speeds are still an issue. The only reason we download music from iTunes (or Amazon if you like your tracks $0.10 cheaper and DRM-free) is because it’s easy and accessible. If you had to download a 15GB game, along with your usual net surfing and music downloading, your download times would be slow and frustrating. God forbid if you lost power in the middle of the download because of a lightening storm or your computer crashing. Then what?

And just because Gap started selling clothes online doesn’t mean that people stopped shopping their stores at the mall.

Downloading high definition content across ALL games is NOT the future. At least not enough to say that Blu-Ray has some sort of limited shelf life.

So 360 fans get over yourselves and consider the fact that your next Xbox system may include a Blu-Ray drive, because there’s very little chance that adopting a download ONLY service for ALL games will sit well with the gaming community nor will it sit well with Best Buy, Target, and Wal-Mart once they realize that have to fill up those gaming shelves with Swiss Army knives and Pampers. Not to mention shutting down Gamestops across the globe.

  29. “So 360 fans get over yourselves and consider the fact that your next Xbox system may include a Blu-Ray drive”

I think in the next console war that Sony is going to pick up on the actions of Microsoft or Nintendo rather than the other way around.

  30. @ Mr Blue

lol, the next xbox may include a Blue-Ray Drive? lol Even if Blue Ray became the market leader (which it never will), Microsoft would never include a Sony product in their hardware. Im sure your Blue Ray camp is happy about having Rush Hour 3 as a timed Blue Ray exclusive too… Good luck watching Transformers on your Blue Ray player. lol And the future of media is downloadable content. It may not be tomorrow, but by 2010 (The same year the PS3 starts to get a good game or two) more people will have broadband, Indemand cable will become even more popular and services like Xbox Live which is currently the most popular online service for HD downloads will be at the forefront. Especially considering they already have an install base of over 11 million.

  31. I’d hope it’s a ps3 exclusive, as sony has paid the entire development cost for the game. It’s a fancy tech demo to show what they can do if you code specifically for it, and optimize it to run on their system exclusively. It damn well better be pretty, given the money and expertise they’re throwing at it.

  32. “Also consider that there is a still HUGE, GIGANTIC, ENORMOUS number of people that STILL don’t have high speed internet access.”

So what? They can’t afford interwebs but they can afford a $700 (money worth at least 3 years of high speed interwebs) game system and a full resolution HDTV? Damn.

“If you had to download a 15GB game, along with your usual net surfing and music downloading, your download times would be slow and frustrating.”

Whoa, whoa! You actually download so much music per day that you cannot download a 15Gb game (would be one big demo btw.)? Sounds more like illegal downloading to me. Besides, most new modems made in this millenium have port priority settings, that means you can download games/watch movies/download music/etc., upload home videos to your webserver AND pay your bills all at the same time without noticing lag (all this with a 10mbit connection). Playing online is out of the question when doing that of course.

“God forbid if you lost power in the middle of the download because of a lightening storm or your computer crashing. Then what?

(U)niversal (P)ower (S)upply. If you can afford a PS3, you can certainly afford one of these (cheapest model if nothing else and buy a HD-ready TV instead since the games are only 720p).

  33. @ mmikej24

“lol, the next xbox may include a Blue-Ray Drive? lol Even if Blue Ray became the market leader (which it never will), Microsoft would never include a Sony product in their hardware”

Blu-Ray is NOT owned by SONY. You need to do your research. SONY is a partner of the Blu-Ray Association that loves Blu-Ray a lot more than all the Hollywood production studios in the association do. What…you think that Microsoft owns HD-DVD? HD-DVD is owned by the HD-DVD Association, which, like the Blu-Ray Association, is a group of SEVERAL companies that all have shares in the format.

Microsoft didn’t own DVD…but they used the DVD format, even though it’s owned by the DVD-Association…and used by SONY…which makes DVD drives…

    ____________________________________________________

First off, Yes, I am supporting the console with the least sales, but I like the hardware, of course blu-ray and NO XBOX LIVE! which I will touch on a little later.

Second, the graphics are not at a standstill, do some research. I would also like everyone to take this GT5 quiz and see how many you get right. It will blow you away.
    http://generationdreamteam.free.fr/Quizz.html

Also, just how many games does the 360 have that are 1080p native? Only a couple while the PS3 has a total of 24 titles that are 1080p native. It’s a lot harder to make a game that is 1080p when you only have 8GB of data to work with, but yes, you can put it on multiple DVDs but most developers out there today do want want to have to put it on more than 1 disc and you can only compress data so far.
    http://www.makeyougohmm.com/ps3-1080p-games/
    http://www.makeyougohmm.com/xbox360-1080p-games/

Lastly, the PS3 network is open because when you connect your PS3 to the internet, you get the WHOLE internet. You don’t have a company (M$) watching all data that is going through the network like Xbox Live. Since when does Live alow YOU to upload ANY CONTENT to a game to everyone? Hardly ever because before something goes on Live to download it has to be OK’ed by M$ or it doesn’t get on. The PS3 is going to alow so much flow of FREE data its not going to be funny. Live is closed down and can only get content that M$ OKs, not you. Why do Live users pay 50/y? Because they have to, there is no other choice. Like I said before, I have been a PC gamer all my life and have never paid for online play, besides a couple MMOs here and there. M$ makes you pay for a service that doesn’t even run on dedicated machines when playing an online game. Just about all, if not all, xbox games run on ONE 360 box for everyone, PS3 online play is more like PC, you connect to a central dedicated server that everyone connects to. Which console do you think will have the LEAST lag in online play?

One last thing to add, the reason the PS3 is doing so badly everywhere besides Japan is because of the price. Most people don’t want to pay the premium price tag just to play games when they can get a 360 for much cheaper and don’t need blu-ray. But with the PS3 coming down in price I bet we will see more and more PS3s in houses come the next year.

  35. @trenen

If I remember right the Blu-ray association only has two members, Sony and Toshiba(I think)

  36. @Fatman

no, wrong….there are not two members…try over 250.

“The “Blu-ray Disc Founder” was founded in May 2002 by nine leading electronic companies: Matsushita, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, Samsung and Sony as contrast to the DVD Forum. Spearheaded by NP Infotech on February 19th 2002 the companies announced [2] they were the “Founders” of the Blu-ray Disc and later changed their name to the “Blu-ray Disc Association” on May 18, 2004 in order to achieve more companies joining their development. Some examples of companies that signed in include Apple, TDK, Dell, Hewlett Packard, The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. and Universal Music Group. At the moment there are more than 250 members and supporters of the Association.”

  37. Well i buy a game maybe i play it 2 or more times “IF”, the game is good and move to another one, for as long that Sony is bringing new games i have enouff to play and i dont need to buy a 360, I know the 360 have some good games but the way i see it, is some time down the line the games are not going to be able to play on the 360. The 360 dont have a HD-DVD player build in, and the HD-DVD only holds 30GB of memorie, the Blue-ray holds 50GB, One day i’m going to but a 360 when it comes with a HDMI-HD-DVD, and the HDMI Cable included. untill them I stay with my PS3 because I’m getting more for my money, Sony have a good History of good products, Aint like Microsoft that One day my comp got bad and i have to Re-install windows and i lost all my music and files and after buying a new one it still having problems so there is bad history going on here with Microsoft.

I can point out your list being BS by just one title… claimed 1080p irl means 1024×576, and of course we’re talking about The Darkness on PS3. Harry Potter seems to be there too with a 1280×720 MSAA 2x, so ok, two titles. How can you trust a site like that? You don’t, trust the real deal:

@PS3UP, seriously you need to shut up and get some help. Let other mature PS3/sony lovers talk because you’re pointless and an embarrassment for Sony. For example “Aint like Microsoft that One day my comp got bad and i have to Re-install windows and i lost all my music and files and after buying a new one it still having problems so there is bad history going on here with Microsoft.” The problem is you and you created the problem, NOT Microsoft. I hardly had any trouble with my WinXp system for a year and a half without format/reinstall, because I know how to use my computer like not looking at porn site which would cause alots of problem to computers. Another example ” No Surprice Here Lost Oddice is going to be 4 CDs it would only take One Blue-ray Disk so No surprice, We know the 360 is going down hill.” I don’t see a problem with 4 dvd as long it’ll be at least 5-20 hours worth of gameplay in each dvd. Yes there was a problem with FF7-FF12 on PS and PS2, but it didn’t stop the system from going downhill. So stop acting like a retard and get your facts straight.

  44. @Qualityjeverage

Rockstar is not owned by SONY. Sony purchased an exclusive IP from Rockstar. Those are two different things…

I actually was around when people hacked the fist Xbox, I even had a friend who had hacked and modded his Xbox and loved it. Yes, you had a web browser, could link it between your PC, play games you copied to your HDD, I know all this. I am making the point that out-of-the-box you get full access to the internet with the PS3 not the 360. Also you are talking like people are going to make a mod for a game and embed a virus or something, though this will not be the case. I just like the fact that I am not locked down like Live is. When you connect to Live you are then locked to only the content on Live and online Xbox games are played on one Xbox that acts like the server. PS3 online games connect to a central server which is the only way you should play an online game. How many 360/Xbox owners here have complained more than 20 time that the game they were playing was laggy? I bet most of you.

Also, you blew it up way out of proportion with the list of PS3 1080p titles. I also was just making a point that the PS3 has way more 1080p native titles than the 360. Take your head out of your ass and actually read what I wrote. I am not here to bash anyone or a console, we are all gamers and should embrace all of people views becauase you both might be right and you both might be wrong. Look at if from both sides.

Here is a better list if it makes you more happy.

No, you don’t have to pay to get on Live, but if you want to play any online games your only option is $50/year. PS3, FREE online play no matter the game. Besides once some MMOs come out for the PS3.

They can and will charge separately for MMOs. FFX1 on the PS2 and 360 both have subscription fees, and if I recall correctly, you only need XBL Silver to play FFXI on the 360.

Gave Newell, creator of the Half Life series, widely known as one of the all time best FPS series to ever be played, if not the best, period, considers the PS3 a waste. No one in the gaming industry is as widely respected as Newell and I have to agree. The PS3 is a waste. Sony have botched it up in spectacular style and do not seem to be doing all that much to rectify it.

Yea im never gonna buy another 360 game for a while, well other than gh3, army of 2, COD 4, Assasins Creed, Mass Effect, GTA 4, Rock Band, and every other awesome 360 game.

  53. no sauce?

Makes me glad he said that, though he doesn’t explain why he said it very in depth if you read the full article where your source got it’s source. It sounds more like an opinion if anything. Everything he said bad about the PS3 is sadly more developer’s lack of effort than the failings of the Sony console as well. Sorry to say last Generation the XBox was the pain to make games for compared to the gamecube and the ps2. But did it die? Did developers call the XBox a waste of time?
