Playstation Eye, bringing it to the competition.
On October the 23rd, Sony is adding another component to its successful Playstation name, the Playstation Eye. At the little price of $39.99, Playstation 3 owners will be able to add another dynamic level of gaming experience to their arsenal. What makes the Playstation Eye better than its predecessor?
- Runs at 640 x 480 resolution at 60 FPS compared to the Xbox live vision which runs at 640 x 480 resolution at 30 FPS
- When running at 320 x 240 it looks even better at 120 FPS
- Built-in 4-microphone array, meaning that you could be sitting at your couch and talking without having to be close in proximity to the Playstation Eye.
- A 2-setting zoom lens with fixed focus.
While these features are more than enough to inspire the gifted Playstation owners into buying this quality good, it will also come bundled with the Eye of Judgement game. Even better is that Playstation 3 owners will be able to download Eyecreate software FREE from PSN. This software gives the user the capability to create videos, edit and share them. I’m sure some creative SDF users will send in a montage of the Xbox 360 RROD problem. Once again, Sony is showing its true colors.

Yep! The new Eye Toy will win the war! I mean that’s just what I wanted for my gaming system, a webcam. I mean oh all the uses I could have even with the 360 cam!

The Xbox Vision cam was a waste of money for people who bought it, and after trying some PS2 EyeToy games, I cannot say that this looks any more promising.

Thats a pretty ugly looking camera. I guess they had to make it match the George Foreman-esque style of the PS3…. As a random bit of information for Sony fanboys, lets hear once again what the good people at Valve think about Sony and the PS3… lol

WoW, nobody cares. Last time i checked, our eyes can only pick up frames up to about 30 FPS, whats the point of 120? thats just stupid, eye toys are a waste of time anyways, just like the PS3rd.

I would just like to put my 2 cents.
Ths ps3 eye toy is sony’s way of telling everyone that it is returning to its past glory. the eye toy in itself is not hugely significant (even though with its higher resolution and bigger frame rate(p.s if you cant see the difference between 30 fps and 120 fps then it’s no surprise you believe there is a graphical enhacement in halo 2 to 3 ) i belive a multitude of new options will be available to all).Sony is trying to recapture what made it great : Hugely intertaining “30 minute games”: Guitar hero, Singstar,Buzz,Eye toy and multitude of other small games, but at the same time have “hardcore games”: Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear solid,Devil May cry etc…
Sony will never have the same market superiority it once had for the simple fact that it’s two competitors didn’t screw up royally this time.
I still believe Sony has a lot to offer, many xbox360 users mock the ps3 but forget that xbox360 has had 1 year head start so the number of available titles is much smaller.
Sonydefenceforce.com “bashes” xbox360 and not the wii for one simple fact: Wii users don’t care about the console wars, there happy playing there little game and doing other tings.In the other hanad xbox 360 users are left with time on there hand(why not play your console instead of whinig here).

The PlayStation Eye has a big microphone in it because Sony didn’t bother to include a headset in the box with the PS3 itself. At least Microsoft thought to put a headset in the box.

Its not a Webcam you can used it like one, its one of the thing you can do with it, i seen the videos of the Card Games and other stuff you can do with it, Like record videos and stuff like that, the Sorry 360 one cant do 1/2 of what the Eye of Judgement can do .

1. Valve isn’t owned by Microsoft.
2. If MS did own Valve, why would they put the Orange Box on their competitions platform?
3. No where on (The Orange Box) the box does it have printed “Microsoft Game Studio’s”
4. Valve had to outsource the game to EA for the port of The Orange Box. Now it’s been delayed. This is a cause for alarm since the Source engine is 3 years old!
5. That should be a SURE SIGN that the PS3 is a pain in the ass to develop for.
