Sony to Capcom: Keep your ports

MH3 Wii

The breaking news today is that Capcom’s much milked Monster Hunter series will have an exclusive version on the Nintendo Wii. With the tremendous amount of FUD floating around out there SDF feels the need to step in and give it’s unbiased assessment of the news.

This is a great thing for the Sony platform. Sony knows that it needs to look beyond last gen titles and franchises to move forward. Brand new IPs like Resistance, Motorstorm, Lair, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword and the rest will define the Playstation 3 as the number 1 platform this generation… not last gen rehashes like Monster Hunter.

  1. You’re such a hack and a fake. So, does this mean Sony should just say goodbye to Final Fantasy XIII, Metal gear Solid 4, and Devil May Cry 4? Perhaps Ratchet should just take a dirt nap?

  2. YEAH! PS3 is left out of the game so Sony takes pride in sulking in the corner.

I know how you feel, guys. I’ve been an outcast before, myself. See why I don’t think Sony’s sticking around much longer? They’ve got other industries to suck dry.

  3. Ok being a huge PS2 fan the PS3 has thus far been a letdown. As of right now I don’t think Sony can afford to lose any titles. They need anything and everything they can get a hold of to make the $600 price tag worth while. Lair was a big letdown as was Heavenly Sword and Resistance. I have to say as of now the only game that is making the PS3 redeemable is Ratchet. As of now the PS3 has nothing for me. My PS3 get no use other than the Blu-Ray movie every now and again, for now the 360 has the best line up of games.

  4. If Lair and Motorstorm are console defining games for the PS3rd place, then I think you will find its definition to be something along the lines of “overpriced, hyped up george foreman grill wannabe with minimal software support and maximum lame online service.”

  5. Oh poor Sony! How the mighty have fallen. Sony is like the hot chick in high school that treated all the others girls like shit (the PS2 years, all the arrogance, putting down Nintendo and MS), now they put on like 80 lbs looks like shit and the other girls are hot and what everyone wants (360 and Wii making Sony look silly) and now they want to play the victim card. Maybe if Sony was just a little humble and showed an ounce of humility over all these years I might actually feel sorry for them. But since they were arrogant dicks for so many years I don’t. I hope the ass kicking by MS and Nintendo continues through 08.

  6. Well, actually, when you think about it, Sony made many mistakes that Nintendo made last cycle. Trying to introduce a new format with the latest technology and ended up in last place for it.

Sony’s fine as long as they’re getting their way, but now that everything’s gone to crap with them, they’re starting to show their true colors.

And let’s face it, without the ports, the PS3′s got nothing left.

xeacons nintendo never released a format…….those optical disc were made by somebody else not nintendo……a game i got from burgerking came out on a disc just like it and i didnt see nintendo’s logo anywhere.

nintendo failed because of their strained relationships with 3rd party developers not anything remotely like what sony is doing.

sony has many flop formats not nintendo:
    betamax
    umd
    minidiscs
blueray-sony’s track record with formats makes me belive this will happen

  8. Sony’s lost, Nintendo’s gain.

  9. See finally a good post. You’ve had so many predictable boring posts lately I almost lost faith in the comic power of this site. Who else could take a “Nintendo getting exclusive game” news and spin it to say it is good for the PS3. But they didn’t stop there. No according to the headline, Sony didn’t even want the game. Bravo SDF!

Well if we don’t want “last gen rehashes”, I guess we’d better get rid of MGS4, Killzone 2, FF13, and the rest of the GTA franchise too. We can’t have those around here!

(On a side note, good to see you’re back in your comedic prime. I thought you were gone for a while!)

Ah, finally. The senseless spin is back. I love SDF putting words in Sony’s mouth. I’m so happy. “It isn’t good if it isn’t on the PS3. If it is on the PS3, it’s fucking awesome!”

Sequels aren’t “rehashes”, especially if they’re on the PS3. They’re next gen gold. If they aren’t on PS3, the games suck. Period.

So… I take it that Sony needs look beyond GTA too – it being a tired rehash of last gen franchise, yes? :)

  15. that’s right, write in your cage of torment, sony fanboys. from the looks of things (aka sony’s position in the market), all this “bias” you’re against will be haunting you for a loooooooooooooooong time.

  16. Lol @ Sony. Monster Hunter on the PSP saved the handheld from DEATH because it sold so well in Japan so they are going to pass on it for PS3? Hahahahahaa. But yea, why would Sony want an online-heavy game to show off that the ps3 can do more then last-gen deathmatch matchmaking and 360 ports with gimped online features? Well played, Sony. Well played indeed. Buahahahahah!

  17. “This is a great thing for the Sony platform. Sony knows that it needs to look beyond last gen titles and franchises to move forward.”

This from the site that talks about Killzone 2 like it’s god coming down from heaven?

  18. Or last gen rehashes like Final Fantasy XIII, or MGS4, or Killzone 2, or UT3, or Mercs2, etc.

  19. According to this site Sony doesn’t need these games or series:
    Madden series
    Ratchet and Clank
    GTA
    Burnout
    Final Fantasy
    NBA Live
    Tiger Woods
    Killzone
    God of War
    Guitar Hero
    Dragon Quest
    Gran Turismo
Damn I guess sony really doesn’t need these franchises.

Wow. The amount of Spin present is making me dizzy.
When you found out last night what was happening, that one of Japans largest system sellers wasn’t coming to your beleived PS3, did you ask why? Its not that hard of an answer really. Simply put, the PS3 is so rediculously expensive to develop for right now, that it is now worth the risk to try to put it out there.

From a developers standpoint, why not sell for the system that is easiest to develop for, with the largest installed user base?

    Answer is: DING DING DING!
    Nintendo Wii.

Until Sony can rectify the issue of development costs for their system, they will continue to loose titles to the 360 as well as the Wii.

Yes, the PS3 has the technological prowess of a Star Trek supercomputer, but the money isn’t there.

What the hell does “FUD” mean?

  23. Unbiased? You guys? ROFL. If you actually did your research, you’d see that it’s because PS3 development is too expensive. Retards.

  24. look at the Shit the Wii have for games, they have like 3 or so good games and dont expect anything better to come out, everything is just for little kids those PSP games would sell more on the Wii.

  25. LOL PS3UP is just sad, jealous, and his pants smell bad.

  26. suck my donkey nuts sony defence force

Yup to bad that Sony will never see a capcom game again.

  28. I hope so!

  29. Hey Sony fan boys! Remember two gens ago when games were getting cancelled for the N64, and became Playstation exclusives? Stings a little, doesn’t it?

  30. “What the hell does “FUD” mean?”

FUD stands for Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt and is generally regarded as a sleazeball business strategy where one company tries to sway public opinions on another company’s product by casting the aforementioned fear, uncertainty and doubt on it. While obvious cases are difficult to find (because it is so frowned upon) one example might be the clever “Get a Mac” ads.

  31. PS3 Fanboys probably think FUD is what you put in your belly!
