Lost Planet: Definitive Edition Coming to PS3
Live report from Capcom Gamer’s Day in London, Capcom announces Lost Planet: Definitive Edition for PS3:
- Available early 2008
- All bonus characters from PC version
- All downloadable content from X360 version
- All extra content made possible thanks to Blu-Ray
- 16 player multiplayer on dedicated servers on PSN

Who cares anyone more it looks outdated and the game play was very old.
Meh… I say
If by “Definitive” edition you mean a port of the PC version then you’re right.
But WAIT!
I thought the PS3 didn’t DO Rehashes.
Once again you’re getting scraps! XD
Oh and way to try to make it sounds like you’re live at the conference, you’re on your mommy’s laptop or the school’s computer.
Nothing spells success for the PS3 like securing a 360 port a year after everyone else is done playing it.
In all seriousness though, I approve of multiplatforming titles where possible. I hope the PS3 gets Dead Rising next. The more people potentially buying a game the better.
I love news like this, it makes the SDF look bad.
Because they preach about how PS3 is too good for ports, rehashes!
Hey SDF! Where’s the Street Fighter 4 news? Oh that’s right, it’s a multi-plat release! XD
With Cell and teh BluRay this is going to be GoTY material. Oh wait, 2008… nevermind..
ummm….
“Sony to Capcom: Keep your ports”
didn’t you post this just a few days ago?
Exactly, and all thise “Extra stuff made possible by Blu-ray” is horseshit! All those extras fit on a DVD-rom, on the PC version…which is months old.
Another laugh I’m having is that this doesn’t change the fact that PS3 completely lost a game, and Wii gained an exclusive!
Just like RE4, PS gets the leftovers and throws in a bunch of extras cause they know it’s not going to sell as well as the original.
But seriously, this is the first article that SDF has put up (that I’ve seen) that’s actually straight forward, no bull (aside from the told-you-so) no opinions. Now, SDF, if you posted stuff like this more often, we’d actually trust you.
Lol, Lost Planet? That game is sooooooooo old!
i love ps3. i dont love SDF making ps3 fans look bad.
@xeacons
Actually they did!
“- All extra content made possible thanks to Blu-Ray”
Line of horse shit!
alright!!! SDF VICTORY!!!!
thats awesome, a mediocre year old game is going to PS3.
i’m in yur PS3, replacing your exclusives with year old ports.
Over at http://xboxdefenceforce.wordpress.com/:
“So what does the package include beside a one year old game? All the content from Xbox Live and some characters from the PC-version. And probably some extra framerate issues. All thanks to Blu-Ray? Well who doesn’t like to wait an extra year for games?”
This is waiting
ONly 16 players? I thought that those magickal dedicated servers allowed for more than that.
Oh well, if for some reason 7 years form now I want to play the game, I’ll still be able to. But those servers will have long been shut down.
I apologize in advance for this but….
All your port belong to us!
I know this might not be the place for this but since they made the “- All extra content made possible thanks to Blu-Ray†I have to bring it up. I really wonder if these guy know about compression? There are DVD-9 Compression rates now that allow for size reductions down to 1% of original size. Ill let you do the math.
Hey, give the PS3rd place owners a break. They dont have any good exclusive games, so can you blame them for being happy when they dig into the year old xbox 360 library and port a game over? lol
Although, this article shouldnt really begin with “We told you so” because your earlier article said that the Lost Planet and Dead Rising sequel would be coming to PS3. A port is not a sequel. Its the same game us 360 owners have played and beaten over and over again for the past year. Nice try though. Are PS3 fans really this lame where they think that these articles actually prove anything?
source article has been deleted from the website.
Heh, I love XC*nts trying to make out yet another exclusive franchise slipping away isn’t a big deal. I’d agree a year old port on its own doesn’t sound much, but with all the big studios and franchises like Halo, PGR, Mass Effect, slipping out of Microsoft’s grasp, all of those NamcoBandai exclusives now coming to PS3, it shows that billion dollar bail-out means the higher ups at Microsoft aren’t going to let the Games and Devices division piss hundreds of millions away securing exclusives that have totally failed to carve decent marketshare.
The 360 has already been on the market for 2 years, and it hasn’t sold even 1 tenth what the PS2 did. In fact it’s only sold half what the original XBox did, and we know for a fact at least a 3rd of those are replacements for broken ones, so the 360 has actually only reached about 7-8 million homes.
The XBox project is a total disaster, and can never hope to break even, and with every decent property they ever had now open to multi-platform release with no more money to buy exclusives, why would people buy the 360 version of a game when they can buy for a system that doesn’t have a 1 in 3 chance of dying every time you switch it on?
This year old port reminds me of when Splinter Cell Double Agent was confirmed for PS3. Some witty fella said they should sell it with the tagline “Welcome to last year’s junk”, I said it would be a better tagline for the 360.
It’s as true today as it was then.
UNDAPNATS, you mean like DMC 4 slipping? or MH3(which you flat out LOST), or Virtua Fighter 5, or Ace Combat 6 or Beautiful Katamari, or any of the other stuff that slipped away from the PS3? QQ more!
this is delicious sauce i must believe it
This is kinda how the Metal Gear Solid games get released on other consoles like 6 months after launch with extra content. Itll be nice to play MGS 4 substance on the 360 eventually.
Also thats sony’s big title, Lost Planet wasnt exactly a huge title now was it.
@UNDAPNATS
The good reason why a person whould buy the 360 version over the PS3 version is quite simple really. You get a little more for your money in achievments and boosting your gamescore. Now if I had the ability to buy either Assassins Creed for the 360 or PS3 i’m getting the 360 version (if both versions are identical in each way).
To be fair, saying I’d get more out of it because of achievements is like telling me I should buy a 20 year old Trabant instead of a brand new VW Golf because the Trabant comes with fluffy dice hanging from the mirror.
I’m sure you guys like the achievements and gamerscore, but I’ve enjoyed 25 years of gaming without them and really don’t feel the need to prove to strangers that I’ve played the same game they have, or bought a cheap crappy game because it gives up 1000 gamerpoints for next to no effort.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy the 360 version though, it looks great on both systems (which, as a PS3 owner, will make a nice change)
adding to what ColdYellow said, the 360 versions tend to be slighly better than the ps3 versions.
Golden Axe is gonna be a 360 exclusive, wahp whap whap whaaaaaaaaaaaaahp!

@ Undapnats
7-8 million homes? Replacements? You have to be joking right? That doesnt even make any sense! Most 360′s that are sent in for repairs, are just repaired and sent back. And the ones that are replaced arent double counted….. That was possibly the lamest comment I have read on this site yet… And thats really saying something. And you actually started that sentence with “we know for a fact…” Wow. Spoken like a true PS3rd place fan!
Most Elites sold are sold to mugs who bought it hoping it would be more reliable than the piece of crap they already own, even though the HDMI port and the HANA chips were the only new components. And not everyone gets refurbs, some lucky people get a whoe new machine, so they’ll get a whole six months trouble free gaming, unlike the refurbs which usually only last a few weeks.
At least half the people who’ve had more than one machine die go and and buy a Core to tide them over until their last XB0rk is fixed, read any gaming forum and you’ll see them freely admitting this. They’ve actually paid a huge amount more for hardware than the price of an undiscounted launch PS3, after taking the piss out of how much they cost for months. You have to love the irony.
Unless the 360 is on sale for at least 6 years it probably won’t even sell as much as the original XBox. MS have pissed away billions for nothing, frankly, they’re more likely to make a profit on the Zune than they are on the XB0rk project.
Who gives a cock. The game wasn’t very good.
You just sucked my cock again,SDF. And you still haven’t asked for that sauce I’ve been tellin’ your bitch ass about.
@ Undapnats
Assuming both games are the same for each system, buying the 360 version over the PS3 version because of achievements would be more like buying a new VW Golf with fluffy dice hanging from the mirror over a new VW Golf without the dice for the same price.
So lesse, another Street Fighter sequel(for me, Street Fighter stopped being fun after Alpha II), and a hand me down from the 360, bad day to be a 3tard!
@ UNDAPNATS. I think you miss the point of achievements. Sure most games give you ones just for playing or beating the game. But most games also have quite a bit for doing things you wouldnt otherwise mess with. They test you skills, make you explore, and play the game in ways that are unexpected. Then reward you for pulling off some crazy stuff. Take Crackdown for example, with out the achievements the game can get boring. With the achievements it adds so much replayability. I dont care if anyone sees that Ive gotten this achievement or that, the fact that I know Ive pulled off some crazy shit and have something to show for it is worth it.
Can someone explain the new header at the top of the page?

Let me translate the above as a Sony fanboy would take it if it were against Microsoft:
zomg! One of Sony’s best developerz is bailing on Sony! lollerskates the PS3 are d00med!!!!11!11!
Yeah, I’m really cut up that Calling All Cars won’t get a sequel.
@UNDAPNATS
this is about god of war.
PS3: Delivering suped-up ports of old games and pretending they’re new sing 2007
Playing the part of a retard fanboy: Hey that means GoW might come out for WII!
The games are new to the PS3 and people like me that want to play the game, but dont wan to pay $$$ for the 360 i’m happy i’m going to reserve my Tomorrow if i can
But wait PS3UP I thought rehashes were bad!
And this is a rehash of a rehash!
Capcom , released Resident Evil 4 , For Nintendo Console , Sony’s one , and PC’s Owner , BUT , they changed somehow the scenario (added ada wong on the PS2 ver) and improved the Graphics so that they could remake the selling that they made once , and i think , that’s what they should with Lost Planet , the pS3 is too BIG to be missed by a game like that .
since the PS3 is more PowerFull than the 360 , a little Story Modification and better graphics should do it fine to sell well on the Ps3 Too .
Ps: “”"Love Sony , Damn Microsoft”"” => PS3 Rules !
Um the RE4 graphics actually were downgraded on the PS2.
Also a rehash is STILL a rehash no matter what they do to it.
@Fatman
God of War is great, it’s made by Sony’s Santa Monica Studios, a first party studio. It was a good game, but God of War 2 was a better game not made by Jaffe, it was made by Cory Barlog. I also just played the God of War: Chains of Olympus demo on the PSP, also supervised by Barlog with no involvement from Jaffe at all. It’s amazing.
One guy leaving an in-house studio that is owned by Sony and is still making games exclusively for Sony isn’t quite the same as 3 major studios responsible for the only games worth owning on the 360 abandoning exclusivity agreements because the higher ups at MS are sick of Games & Devices flinging millions around that they’ll never get back.
I agree with the rehash comments though, but as a pattern, it shows the word “exclusive” doesn’t mean crap on the 360, and you just know XBums will still be sniffing around MGS4 like a randy dog for months after it launches, saying “it’ll come out on 360 eventually!”.
Good luck with that.
UNDAPNATS, same goes for you pathetic 3tards who go on about all the 360 titles are going to be on PS3.
Thread full of bozos saying “Hah, PS3 owners all want old 360 games”
I say it’s exactly the same as XBozos never shutting up about MGS4 coming out on 360 eventually.
six1s says, that’s exactly the same as PS3tards who want old 360 games.
Well done! Were you trying to confirm my point for me? Or did it just fly over your head?
Did I once deny that 360 fanboys do the same thing? No I didn’t! I’m slamming your 3tards because you’re such damned hypocrites!
I dont know what all this talk is about first party studios. I think you all are missing the point. it doesnt matter if the game comes from a first party studio, as long as it is exlcusive to one console than itr doesnt matter. Games like Gears of War, Bioshock and Dead Rising are not owned by Microsoft, but they are still 360 exclusives. If you can secure an exclusive without actually purchasing the studio, wouldnt that make more sense. For all of you PS3 fanboys that think Bungie is not with Microsoft anymore, than you need to do more research. Microsoft still has a first look agreement with Bungie so anygame they make, Microsoft has first dibs at. And of course the HALO franchise is still owned my Microsoft… Yes, you may see the Mass Effect sequels on PS3 (sometime in 2010 when the first sequel comes out) because EA is multiplatform, but I think the PS3 will be long dead by that time due to lack of software support. And even if games like Project Gotham Racing do go multiplatform, we all know that they will be designed on the 360 and ported to the PS3, just like all games are. So dont expect anyone rushing to buy a PS3 for year old rehashes or new, half ass ports. The only thing that can save the PS3 is good, exclusive titles, and you will need more than 1. MGS4 will sell some PS3′s, but other than that I dont see anything in the near future that will sell consoles.
@UNDAPNATS
And you missed the point, Jaffe wont be creating any more original content for the ps3.
Also, the fact that you managed to mispell underpants says something about you.
In related news, Capcom is releasing Okami on the Wii. Guess what comes around goes around huh. You know itll be better on the Wii, the controller will make the game awesome.
Lost Planet is garbage. This is non-news.
@JTMost
@JTMost
IT wasnt garbage, but it certainly wasnt anything special
@ PS3UP

The PS2 DID NOT get enhanced graphics.
Neo is good at owning 3tards!
@UNDAPNATS
Saying that “exclusive” doesn’t apply to the 360 is retarded. If you really wanna get technical about it “exclusive” really doesn’t hold much weight anymore.
Funny Sony loses exclusives all the time. Yet Sony Defense force acts like this is some thing big. But when you think about it Sony is getting a X-Box 360 game. SOny is doing that bad that Capcom has to give them a game that wasn’t even that good in the first place.
yet another 360 game coming to the ps3 in a superior version
