Sticking with ones guns is a great thing. Germans still use a version of the MG42 even today. The k98 bolt rifle used in WWII is still seen in some back water nations, heck US soldiers in Vietnam faced captured Mg34s, Mg42s anything the russians can hand them, just as effective in Vietnam as they were decades earlier.
