It begins. The PS3 is now topping the Nintendo Wii in weekly Japanese console sales. Also interesting to note is how badly Mario Galaxy is performing in Japan. This doesn’t exactly bode well for other non-Wii Fit games for the system.

at least the ps3 is reliable enough to not need fixing, you know, the whole “if its not broken dont fix it” deal. and its really quite easy to clean dust out of the system and say it never happened. fixing something does not make it alright for MS to release buggy consoles in the first place.

Also, I know my system could die at any moment. Could be tomorrow, could be next week, could never happen. Who knows, the chances are greater than normal though. Heres the thing, I can sleep at night cause if it breaks its covered. It will be covered till they launch a new system. So Im not to worried about it, I have a Wii so Im also not worried about not having games to play.
Now you should ask yourself. Though the chances are alot lower, if your PS3 dies and you have to send it in to get fixed, Will they? Or will they come up with some excuse that will void your warrenty? The chance of it breaking are slim, but so is the chance that it will still be covered under warrenty.
Well now that I’ve once again chopped the SDF bullshit tree back to the roots. Let’s speculate how they will spin the Christmas sales.
I expect another bad Christmas for Sony, while Wii and 360 do well, the later because they have an SKU not much more expensive then a Wii.

Xbox360 took over 2 YEARS to get ‘profit’ the origanal xbox never did. 360 is looking up congrats.
PS3 hasn’t even been out a single year, its currently out a whole 8 months when they arent making a profit yet selling more than what xbox360 did in its first year things are looking good.
PS3 has no GAMES! True, tottaly agree but give it 5 months and everything will be ok, Metal Gear Solid, Haze etc. It took over a year, true that but xbox360 has been going ages, no wonder there is more games (and i haven’t seen any exlusives coming next year i want)

PS3 has also become more financially benefital also (in the UK) currently a 60GB is £350. This includes 2 prime games (heavenly sword / Resistance / Motorstorm) and a controler. Bought from HMV/Virgin, dont remember). I also get a Blu-ray player which from the internet i have seen to be getting better sales and also higher capacity. 360, you must buy HD-DVD seperately which will set you back MORE money, ontop of the 120GB Elite priced at £300.
PS3 has wifi build in, i must pay another £50 ontop of the 360.

I have bought a PS3 for long term based on previous experiences (PS2/PS1 – outliving all others, i also had a gamecube) I am not saying 360 is shit(apart from RRoD) its a good system with plentiful of games, DO NOT expect PS3 to be making as much of a system released years ahead nor have the same amount of ‘good’ games. First off tons of people have Wii’s already, so really right now Nintendo has the bigger installed user base in Japan.
As for the 360 well even a few Dev’s from Japan talked about why it doesn’t sell that well there. Most gamers in Japan want to stick with systems from Japan. Microsoft is an outsider, and lets not forget that over in Japan they have some ummm weird games that have been top sellers.
So the PS3 beat the Wii ‘once’ that doesn’t mean “omg PS3 wins!!!!”
Yeah as if one week makes up for the millions sold that PS3 is trailing by.

How is number 3 considered a failure? Sure, it’s not at the top, but it’s still high up. And look at sales as a whole – The PS3′s been killed in most markets, and as far as games go, there’s virtually NOTHING good on the system that you couldn’t get on the 360. I know this site is a joke, but this isn’t even believable, even for you guys. Galaxy’s kicking ass in the rveiews, and it’s real go-time in the sales area is during the holidays, not right after launch.

PS3′s need a warrenty? I’ve had mine since febuary, it runs perfectly fine, everyone knows Sony has never been the greatest company when it comes to warrenties, I mean look at the PS2. it was a warrenty nightmare. But over all percentage of PS3s that break down are extremely low, definity compared to the XBox 360 which even the new Elites have the same gosh darn red ring problem, nearly two years later.
ps3 was impossible to find after launch for like 2 months, if sony wasnt so greedy and would have started the ps3 at 399$ it would have surpassed the 360 to this day.

Remember the PS2 launch? Same there there, shortages both in the US and Japan for the system. And a little fun fact, the biggest selling ‘software’ for the PS2 in Japan wasn’t a game, rather it was The Matrix on DVD, as the PS2 was Japans first DVD Player.

did you really need to write so much to defend your choice in consoles, i have an xbox 360, a wii, a ds, a psp and a ps2. I don’t own a ps3 becauase i don’t see it worth my money.
and so you know its still not “financially benefital” becauase not that many people have HDTVs, so they don’t need a blu-ray player, the xbox gives you the choice of whether you want it instead of telling you to take it.
Also PS3s aren’t really flying off the shelves, gamers know to wait for either another price drop for a decent version (40gb with no backwards compatability???) or for the big games to be released,
Actually, there are more preorders on PS3 bundlepack with Dynasty Warriors 6 then any other game in Japan atm.

According to a couple of reports I read, even though the XB360 only sold 7000 units in Japan last week. There were not many XB360′s available on store shelves. You can read the Gamespot.com report on it. Sony is happy with there Japan sales numbers but here in the USA different story so far just a little over 65,000 PS3′s have sold compared to 170,000 Wii’s and 150,000 XB360′s this week. I spoke to a guy in my local franchise game store he told me that at that particular store they still have more then half of the original shipment of $399 PS3′s he also said the 80GB isn’t moving well. Doesn’t surprise me. The number one complaint customers have is not enough games available for PS3. Games that are out stink. Ratchet & Clank is good but it’s not selling. If things don’t pick up PS3 might go the way of the Dreamcast here in the USA.
I just checked out an AP article that claimed the PS3 sales doubled with the price drop. I’m not saying it’s inaccurate, but apparently, AP got all their information from SCE. Their NPD numbers were wrong, saying 360 sales were only 11m by Oct, and Wii sales were only 9m. Also SCE says they have an advantage this Christmas because Nintendo’s having so much trouble meeting demand.

First of all if you’re going to compare prices, don’t buy extra controlers for one unit and none for another. Unless you’re trying to say there arent any games to play for the ps3 with 2 controlers anyway.
But anyway you said it took the 360 over 2 years to make a profit? Last time I checked the xbox was released in November of 05… Less than 2 years ago and has been profitable for a while now.

and yes it’s been out 2 years now and has only started making profit. I do have HD-TV, ALL new Tv’s are pretty much HD-TV so one way or another when you get your next new Tv, it WILL be HD (most likely) Currently new DvDS such as Harry Potter require! Bigger Disks to fit it all on (HD-DVD has intermission) So i really feel Blu-ray will be called upon to make our new entertainment systems even more entertaining. Halo3 was too big to fit on DVD and so lost graphic Quality so i must say i kinda consider HD-DVD vital to keep up the graphics which i am expecting from this generation of console, and if you are going to compare 360 graphics with ps3, i wouldnt even bother if you dont have the HD-DVD drive to compare those games with.
Btw, Even without the HD-DVD Drive PS3 is still cheaper by over £100.

i look at history and forsee past event reacurring. Ps2 had no good games upon release, though look at that. it had a intergrated DVD drive, people jeered at it seeing it as a useless piece of technology, but the massive selling console made dvds more readily avaliable. By having the Blu Ray intergrated in the console and having the console selling just as fast as others have it will secure the Blu Ray in the market place as sales have shown. History is doomed to repeat itself.
