Final Fantasy 13 – PS3 Exclusive (duh)

Nomura: “Versus” is taking time being developped because the team is trying to explore the whole specs (of the PS3). Our programmers were asking, “is it okay if we program it as a PS3 exclusive? If you’re thinking of porting it to other consoles, we might have to change the specs to follow suit the others.” And I answered, “PS3 exclusive, of course.“
Sorry Xbox fans.

what… did you expect it to be multi platform? sorry, you guys’ll have to stay happy with 11…
oh, and here’s the actual source… not just the homepage… http://www.ff-xiii.net/index.php?page=article&article=195
TOTALLY HYPED FOR THIS GAME!!! DON’T LET US DOWN!!!
AND SORRY FOR THE TRIPLE POST!!!!
oh shame…. its not like Final Fantasy is boring and the same thing repeated slightly different or anything *cough* *cough*
I’m still betting that it’ll be ported to the 360.
But still, FF is the most over-rated series in gaming history.
Oh my GOD! They posted a story that wasn’t really a JAB at the 360.
Shame “Versus†is just some crappy action orientated follow-up to the full-fat XIII, which SE don’t exactly have the best track record on delivering (hopefully it will be better than ‘The Bouncer’). I notice no mention of exclusivity has been given for the main money spinner.
Big-t, Well you can’t expect the SDF to actually properly read their own source, they have a low standard to maintain after all.
oh yes, versus will be so much the same, the only difference will be story, graphic and battle system, hell… the best advance halo 3 had over halo 2 was the chaingun… that makes it ssoooo different, halo 3 is the same old rehash, yet you guys all love it, final fantasy has different stories and battle systems, i really don’t consider that to be a re-has, and as the source says “do you want us to make it playable on the 360?” “make it optimized as a ps3 exclusive” i can’t think of a better way to say “it’s not coming to 360, shut the hell up.”
since the final fantasy franchise is nothing short of average in the sales department anywhere outside of asia, and the 360 sales are nothing short of pitiful in asia, i dont think making it multi platform could help them, i’d like to see an EA-style port of a game developed for ps3 though.
*japan… not asia… asia’s fucking huge…
hehe I just could’t help noticeing the stupidity of someposts here. Xbox fanboys are on a PS3 site and talking trash about it, and call the staff of SDF for fanboys. WHEN IN REALITY you guys are saying that FF is crap and overated. I’ll tell you whats crap right here. Its (sorry guys) Halo 2.5 wich is the most overrated pice of crap FPS game I’ve ever played and YES I have a shitbox myself and I regret the day I bought the piece of shit. I can bet my balls that all you fanboys are frustrating over why on earth dosen’t FF come to my shitbox? You know why? Since the box, is a load of donkeyass thats why. I rahter pay 500$ to get quality then ever rethinking of buying a crappy xbox for 400$ again.
LiquidSnake,
I’d rather pay $250, for games I can play RIGHT NOW!
See what I did thar?
Well, not RIGHT now. I don’t like playing games when I’m sick, it’s not fun.
OH NOES! WHAT WILL XBOTS DO WITHOUT THEIR BELT AN ZIPPER GAMES AND THEIR PINK HAIRED CLOUD?
@animekid3515
No where is the article dose it say anything about the 360. Sorry buddy but now your just another SonyFanBoy.
As for FF being a bad game series, well that’s way overstated. FF has been one of the biggest and best selling game franchises in videogame history. Every game offered something new to the gaming world with the exception of a few (X-2). Personally though I’m not a big Turn based guy so i never really got into playing them. But the story was always good and even made it somewhat fun to watch. FFXIII should be good.
Wait, doesn’t “developed” have only 1 p?
Yeah, developed does only have 1 p, but then again you can’t expect the guys at SDF to spell check their furiously spewed out crap. Oh and before anyone starts the bad spelling=stupidity debate, spelling has near nothing to do with intelligence.
Still comparing Halo 2.5, right now Halo 2.5 is old news. Go compare Wolfenstien 3d to Halo 2.5. I do like FF but it’s not the greatest rpg ever, Chrono Trigger is. I couldn’t care if FF release on Xbox. FFXIII should be good but how do you really know, what if you ended up dissapointing?
Good luck getting the game in 2008 or maybe in two years.
Actually, I’m going to laugh when it comes to the Wii.
Technically, SDF still made a jab at everyone else, by bragging about the exclusitivity (for now). Every game has to be specified for the console it’s on. Each port has to have the specs changed (if it’s going to be a good port). When the game doesn’t sell due to lack of PS3 owners, they’ll port it.
I think Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation best explained FF. You could simulate the game by listening to the star wars soundtrack huffing nitrous oxide and reading an excel spreadsheet.
Right…
The Xbox 360 has its Mass Effect and the PS3 has its final fantasy…
Only, Mass Effect didn’t need 13 sequels to be good.
Have fun playing Lair and the Killzone trailer until 2008, and beyond.
Dear lord people, do you honestly think they will? Every since FF7, released in 1997 they havent ported. And over 6millions PS3′s have been sold so far, at least 7.5-8million at minimum before FFXIII’s release, and most people who own a ps3 are hardcore gamers *wii is casual* and so loads will get final fantasy XIII So they will not have any need. sorry Microsoft, go back to your 10^10 FPS games and Wii owners can enjoy crystal chronicles early next year.
@Liquidsnake and animekid3515
Right, so your argument is that FF series is the best no matter what and that it’s always different, yet they continually reuse characters with different stories, still use turnbased combat, and still find ways to make the game as confusing and bland looking as possible. Stories are always the same, one guy has to go up against a mighty power and save the world yadda yadda yadda. There’s nothing that screams GREAT to me, no interaction in the combat, no surprises or real enthusiastic drive to continue the game, nothing. Oh, and as one last note, if Halo 3, yes THREE, is so freaking bad, why is it still one of the best selling games in most of the world? Along with the 360 version of Call of Duty 4? (Yes, if you must know I have played these games and found far too many repetitive issues, Sid anyone?)
And by “these games” I do mean the FF series, not CoD or Halo
havent been ported? hello FF11? 360? ff7? PC… on no they never port it, HEY WHAT ABOUT THE 2 FF GAMES THAT ARE GONNA BE EXCLUSIVE TO 360 *cough**cough*
Meh,
FF VII http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/data/130791.html
FF VIII http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/data/197342.html
FF XI http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/data/555735.html
YOU sir, have as the kids would say have been “pwnd”
@ UNSC
*replies to FF games being nearly the same/boring*
*coughs* Halo
There I said it. lol
@ Unsc
Youa lso forget Final Fantasy 11 was an MMORPG, it was on all consoles nearly at the time of it’s release, MMO’s go for number of players for the lovely Monthly fees. What other Final Fantasy game is coming on the 360?
Final Fanstasy and Halo games are both WAY overhyped in my opinion. FF is just another RPG and Halo is just another FPS. I’m not saying that these two games are bad (I enjoy both of these series of games), but they do what the developers set out to do: they are both great games in there genre. Now I don’t expect Halo to have the epic stories as a FF game or FF to have the twitch action gameplay as Halo, and thats why I play different games for different experiences.
So FF13 is only a PS3 exclusive….so what. I don’t own a PS3 (yet) so it doesn’t bother me at all.
Just the same for halo3, if you don’t own a 360 then why do u care if someone else own’s it?
I actually hope that MGS4 or FF13 get’s ported over to the 360, because that more ppl will enjoy there games that PS3 owners have or been enjoying for a while. Likewise for bioshock and MassEffect these two games shouldn’t be missed by anyone who owns a PS3 and then they find out why 360 owners have been clammoring about.
funny how you xboxers defend mass effect, but talk crap about a ps3 title, when will the hypocrisy end? I dont mind defending a game you know is good, but people love final fantasy as much as some of you love halo 3 so dont go and bash a well known series just because it is on a rival console or your no better than sdf.
And im sick of people throwing the wii in this, my god mother let me borrow her wii for the weekend and i have concluded that it only sells because of the price, I played Zelda, Mario Party, Sonic and Ninja Turtles and honestly Ninja Turtles was the only one that kept my attention, people absolutely wont be buying wii’s 2 years from now, and eventually the 360 will pass it up. A lot of u use the wii in your defense but until u play it dont say anything because it feels like a gamecube with motion control and yes i have a gamecube and no other console.
WTF? FF13 is a PS3 exclusive?
UHATEME, You’re so full of shit I can smell you from here. The Wii sells, cause people LOVE it! You’re just bitter that a certain other system is getting the shit kicked out of it by something that has inferior tech specs. There are so many sour grapes this gen, now that Nintendo is back on top of the heap, that you have a source of cheap wine stock to last for a year or two!
UHATEME, And it’s funny that you’re defending a stale IP with hardly any life left in it!
@liquid snake: halo 3 isn’t a bad franchise, it’s just not anything special
crysis on the other hand… nukes mmmmmmm….
@uhateme: the wii is very innovative, but i have to admit… it would be nice for developers to stop taking the easy and cheap way out and develop for the 360… it would be nice to play a game at the level of fun the wii can deliver, or at the level of presentation the ps3 can offer, the final fantasy franchise is known of it’s beautiful presentation… mostly the stories though…
and if you look at the article, nomura says “ps3 exclusive of course” see that!? “PS3 EXCLUSIVE!!!” I DONT THINK THEY COULD HAVE PUT IT INTO BETTER WORDS!!!! WTF DO YOU WANT FROM THEM!?
I HAVE NO PS3 IM NOT DEFENDING IT I AM CONDEMNING HYPOCRITES LIKE U. PEOPLE LOVE IT??? U GOTTA BE SHITTING ME TO IMPLY THAT IT WOULD BE DOING JUST AS GOOD IF IT WERE 400$. I HAVE A FUCKING GAMECUBE IN NO WAY DO I DISLIKE NINTENDO, I DISLIKE PEOPLE LIKE U WHO USE IT AS DEFENSE EVEN THOUGH U DONT EVEN OWN ONE. IM ENTITLED TO MY OWN OPINION ON CONSOLES AND THIS MAY SURPRISE U BUT SOME PEOPLE DONT DESPISE EVERYTHING THAT SONYS NAME IS ON.
^^This was addressed to six1s if i wasnt clear
OMG I CARE.
Ill assume your talking about the article monkey
Next time you want to be even acknowledged, don’t type in caps. That was fail/10
ILL TALK TO U HOW EVER I WANT, U WANT TO DISRESPECT ME ILL RESPOND IN CAPS, MY POINT MUST BE PRETTY VALID, THATS THE REAL REASON U WONT ACKNOWLEDGE IT.
No, typing in caps screams, “I’m 13 and I’ve lost my cool.” and invalidates anything you have to say.
Haha, Uhateme, you got seriously pwned by six1s (by the way pwn is pronounced OWN not “pone”).
@animekid: Crysis is awesome, Crytek has always been absolutely amazing in multiplayer. On the other hand, that other thing you said, Halo is not a good franchise, is completely wrong. Halo introduced a whole lot of things completely revolutionary to the fps genre. Yes you could say Halo 3 has been overhyped, rushed, ect.(or in SDF’s case ECT. ECT. ECT. ECT. ECT.), but there is no denying that the halo franchise (and halo 3) is amazing.
Now, about Final Fantasy. It too has been a revolutionary franchise. It was a tremendous thing for (excuse the term) japanese style rpgs. Both franchises have been amazing.
Please spell out the word “You” also, its three god damn letters.
it’s the internet… who cares, he’s not filing a report or anything…
Correction im 16 and have lost my cool. And Shignami “R U” “gonna” give me a ticket “u” damn grammer officer.
Enjoy the Orange Box slideshow SDF…Half life series, well overrated eh?
*minces off*
FFX is the last good game the series will ever have, I think. FFX-2 sucked, FFXI was an MMORPG so it’s the worst game in all of existence (tied, of course, with all other MMORPGs), FFXII was terrible (your RPGs are supposed to have turn-based combat, Squeenix; this proves that), and FFXIII looks like it’s going to have more real-time dumbtarded shitty gameplay, moreso than FFXII.
“Maybe it’s time to put this particular series to bed. Then smother it to death.”
dapwnzor, for someone with that name, i’d be surprised if you liked any final fantasy, x-2 was awesome, but it’s story sucked harder than an airplane emergency door during flight. ff12 was okay… but i got bored of the battle system quickly, it just seemed so try-hard to be different. ff13 battle system from what i’ve seen of it, seems a hell of a lot less like 12′s screw final fantasy with turn based combat in which yo have full control of your character, unless you can pull it off, just the demo on that trailer makes the system look awesome, even if the graphic.s might be off slightly, or heaps in the full game, the battle system, will be like that, every trailer square has released with “gameplay” in it, has been accurate.
“Maybe it’s time to put this particular series to bed. Then smother it to death.â€
i would rather them stick to the old ff7/ff10-2 style battle system and keep going. hell, if you’re going to put a series to bed, why not halo? that things been getting more mediocre with each game, and now, an rts? wtf? stick the lame shooters whoever’s making halo now.
i think if square can pull this battle system off.. it’ll be awesome… kingdom hearts number 1 though… thank god they’re getting rid of the disney guys in number 3.
@Meh
>Dear lord people, do you honestly think they will? Every since FF7, released in 1997 they havent ported.
So wait FFVII, VIII aren’t also on PC? No?
animekid, I was lazy with the name. With 3515 at the end of your name, you REALLY don’t have THAT much room to talk. I usually go by BigText.
Halo as an RTS is okay. It was originally planned to be an RTS, but then they added a feature that allowed TPS-like camera angles in the combat. From there it became a TPS, then Microsoft took it and made it an FPS. That’s if I remember it correctly; that may not be the exact way it happened. My point is that Halo can have an RTS. I’m hoping that it’s actually good and can sell with awesome gameplay, not just its name brand.
I absolutely LOVED FFX, and I find most other Final Fantasies annoying to play now. In FFX, you have clearly defined roles, characters, etc. that all match up. They’re all clearly different characters used for completely different situations. In FFX-2, I loathed the battle system, although the story was decent, albeit a little hard to swallow. They had created and finished an epic story in a whole new world with FFX. It was probably hard to just make up enough new stuff for a whole game without screwing with what was already in FFX’s world. FFX-2 had a FFVII-wanabe battle system that was blinding. The camera jumped and danced all over the place all the time; I literally could not see what was going on.
As for all of the other Final Fantasies, they’re annoying for the fact that the characters have no real gameplay differences. Any character can become anybody else. I once started playing FFVI again, but once it got to the point where everyone got Espers, and thus, magic, their individual abilities were still useful, but ultimately not that important. For FFXII, any character can COMPLETELY become anyone else. This pissed me off to no end, and I’ve heard that by the end, everyone has the entire job-grid thingie maxed out anyway. Also, the plot was overly complex; I’m playing a FANTASY GAME, all politics need to get the fuck out.
Also, yes, thank God for getting the Disney shit out of the new Kingdom Hearts games.
is 9? is 10? is 10-2 is 12? No, they havent done any more PC ports because of the few sales and because most PC’s cant handle the graphics and gameplay so i severely doubt the new PS3 one will be ported to PS3, and you are hoping for a port to 360, seriously seriously hoping.
“is 9? is 10? is 10-2 is 12? No, they havent done any more PC ports because of the few sales and because most PC’s cant handle the graphics and gameplay so i severely doubt the new PS3 one will be ported to PS3, and you are hoping for a port to 360, seriously seriously hoping.”
PC can’t HANDLE the graphics?!
Just how much LSD have you been lacing your weed with?!
I agree with six1s. Meh, are you retarded?
man you guys are idiots, the ones who think final fantasy sucks at least, have you actually even played the game? its absolutely amazing, you guys trying to bash it looks like idiots
i like the job system, it gives you more control over how your characters react in battle, as for ff10-2 being an ff7 wannabe battle system, ff7′s is one of the best… so i ask… wtf is wrong with that?
@six1s: i think you misread his comment, i’m sure he meant “his” PC cant handle the graphics…
I’m not so sure, he also said it couldn’t handle the gameplay. I bet he writes for the site.
“Maybe it’s time to put this particular series to bed. Then smother it to death.â€

@Animekid3515
Halo Wars (the RTS) is not being made my Bungie (the people who made Halo). A seperate developer recieved permission from Microsoft to make an RTS based in the Halo Universe before the story Arc. While each Halo game has been less revolutionary they have all brought something to the table. The original Halo showed what a console FPS could be, Halo 2 brought fourth the matchmaking system (Lobby systems are now a thing of the past and a waste of time), and Halo 3 brought video capture, a map editor, and swapping photos/videos to the console. To say Halo is a “bad” game is really stupid. It made more money in 24 hours then any blockbuster movie’s top grocing weekend. While you may not like it, its still a masterpiece. Just like I must admit the FF series is a masterpiece, although JRPGs are the epitomy of lame.
Ok lets talk about FF ok lets not talk about something unrealate ok, Yea i like Final Fantasy i have all those games and i buy some colectables and i’m happy for this game, i been looking forward to get it.
hey 3Tards thought you might like to catch up on some reading http://megagames.com/news/html/console/sonyfixesassassinscreed,breakscod4.shtml
@Panda
FF is the most overrated series in history?
How about Halo?
OH NO!!!!
I WON’T GET TO PLAY A GAME WHERE I GET TO TAKE TURNS HITTING A COMPUTER GENERATED RAT!!!
“Halo Wars (the RTS) is not being made my Bungie”
1. i already knew that
2. YOU THINK A COMPANY TOTALLY NEW TO THE FRANCHISE WILL MAKE IT BETTER!?
@UNSC: i think you should check out the playstation blog and see that very few people are complaining about COD4 in firmware 2.01… works fine for me.
because most PC’s cant handle the graphics
most being the keyword here. I don’t like forking out £100′s of pounds on a monthly basis to make my pc up to scratch and so many games i’ve had to run at less than regular graphics. In any case, it won’t be ported, now go join t h e other fanboys and start bashing it out of anger of not being able to have it.
Panda Says:
But still, FF is the most over-rated series in gaming history.
Yep.
Others might say Halo is the most over-rated series in gaming history, its a matter of opinion.
If we all wanna get stupid about what’s over hyped and overrated each year, then I would say the Madden series is. Each damn year it’s the same game, with slightly improved graphics, a different mode of play, some problems get fixed, and then alot of people go out and buy the damn thing each August.
If we all wanna get silly about what’s over hyped and overrated each year, then I would say the Madden series is. Each year it’s the same game, with slightly improved graphics, a different mode of play, some problems get fixed, and then alot of people go out and buy the thing each year.
Meh,
I’ve been bashing it long before that!
I hate j-rpgs. And I hate people who fap to them, but say that they make too many of some other genre.
i agree with UHATEME, halo3 is the most ‘over rated’ game.
six1s, nothing more to be said, you don’t like CGI cutscenes and games that have a story to grip you to the game. well what more is there to say, millions of people disagree with you since one of the biggest franchises sells so many game on game, people (like me) obviously like to be gripped to the gameplay constantly changing from one to the next (ie, materia, junciton, armour, sphere grid, dress sphere, gambits) etc etc and love to be hooked on a story where they have 2 motives for playing the exceedingly good gameplay and to find the next bit of the plot, opinion is opinion, ours have been said. The message that it’s exclusive to PS3 is merely just going to disappoint some xbots, though obviously not you. /thread?
We’ll have to see. This all goes back to whether or not one game is going to boost PS3 sales. We’ve all argued about this a million times before. It comes to one outcome or another:
If FF13 sells, the 360 won’t be bothered with it.
If it doesn’t, they’ll port it.
Square’s put too much time and effort into this to lose with Sony. Although, I’ll give you this much; a hot anticipated title and the recent price drop is the best case senario Sony’s had since Resistance. Not to mention it’s shopping season. So, Sony might get lucky, or things continue as they always have.
Man, I’m glad I missed most of that argument up there.
UHATEME, I’m not even going to deal with you.
Six1s, one thing I’ve learned, if someone doesn’t believe you, preach to them once, preach to them twice, then have nothing to do with them. He’s obviously not going to see the light.
animekid, I totally agree with you that developers need to quit taking the cheap and easy way out, and quit developing these CASUAL games on the Wii. But I think they should try making games like Halo and Mass Effect (similar to them, I mean) for the Wii. I have a Wii and my brother has a 360. I’ve played them both, I think both are awesome systems.
But I see little content on the 360 that couldn’t have made it, with a little editing, to the Wii. Stuff like the Orange box, which is full of last gen titles, could easily be ported straight over.
The problem with the Wii right now, is few, aside from Nintendo themselves, are really taking advantage of the Wii’s hardware. No, it doesn’t have HD or harddrive, but that’s really it’s only handicaps. We’ve seen games like Metroid and Mario that, on a normal tv, are every bit as visually stunning as the 360 games I love.
Developers are either making exclusives, triple platform releases, or focusing on the 360 and PS3. The Wii, it’s either exclusive or tri-platform. They need to abandon the PS3 and focus on the two good platforms.
Okay, first off, I love my 360. I love the Halo franchise so much that I even have a Halo tattoo. Does that make me an xbot? Hell no. Maybe just a huge freakin nerd, but whatever. My wife and I are actually look at buying a Wii sometime in the future whenever a price drop comes along (which probably won’t be for a long long time).
But this is a Playstation site, so I’ll discuss the PS3. The single biggest reason the PS3 isn’t selling is because of its high pricetag. I’d love to have one, but I simply can’t afford it at its current price. It doesn’t mean that the console is a huge piece of crap, anyone who says that is just an idiot. But to those who can afford it, FF13 is just the thing the PS3 needs. Hell, it could even make those who can’t really afford it want to save up just so they can play it.
Anyone who says that the FF franchise is dead is an idiot, bad games don’t sell, and the FF series has been doing fine. People don’t buy the next game in a series because they feel they have to, they buy it because of a proven record of outstanding gameplay and story-telling, paired with great reviews. Just look at FFX-2. It didn’t fare so well at retailers, hell, even I rented it just to see what it was like, and sent it back the next day because it bored me to tears and the battle system was a joke.
I can also say this for any major franchise.
All that being said, I just might try to talk my wife into letting me get a PS3 when this game releases. That, and I reaaalllly want to get my hands on Little Big Planet. It looks like so much fun!
It’s bad when I come here more to laugh at the ridiculous comments people leave, more than just to laugh at the articles. Grow up, people.
Meh, Millions of people smoke, but that doesn’t mean it’s good.
Just like Madden Football. It sells but it always more of the same when you boil it down to it’s core concept. Not saying there is anything wrong with the Final Fantasy games (I enjoy them quite a bit), but it would be nice if Square would do something different for a change. If all you remember Square went into a time there where they tryed there hand at some different type of games, and the result where some hits (Einhander, and Bushido Blade), and misses (Erghiez, and the bouncer).
six1s, millions of people go to school, doesn’t mean its good? You can make loads of bs wise arse statements like that but try making on of them game related. millions of people play it therefore it IS good, a game is pretty much defined as: no. of players, unless the game is bought under faulse pretenses. So i’ve had to disregard another one of your unthoughout wannabe wise arse comments. (argueing with 10 ten year olds isan’t as fun as it was made out to be)
EA games are bought by millions of people, yet according to the alot of people on the internet, they are bad games. Yet people still buy them, so they must be good. You’re logic is so full of holes. Popular opinion doesn’t = fact, Galileo proved that.
Oh and I’ve seen enough message boards to know that the the age thing is always a “Shit he’s got me!” tactic. Ranks right up there with “Kthxbai”, and “You spelled -word- wrong, so everything you say is negated.”
@meh
millions of people play WOW and some poeople have died because of it, i don’t think thats good
and honestly, i can’t stand JRPGs, turn based combat is perhaps the most ridiculous thing ever, i’m much happier with the frantic, fun and fast paced hooting of halo and fighting of Dead or Alive. If i need an RPG i’ll play oblivion, i might go and buy Mss effect, because there no turn based combat. theres no need for it, its just tedius
Meh, I hate to say it, but Final Fantasy IS ridiculously overrated. They change mechanics, such as how magic, the class system, and equipment work, but the gameplay is fairly the same thing. Turn-based combat. Sometimes it’s totally turn-based, sometimes there is a wait-time bar, and sometimes the techniques have a certain amount of delay with it that determines when that character can go again, but it’s all essentially the same. While I love Final Fantasy, variety isn’t one of its strong points. FFXII was the most different of the series, but it doesn’t count because it was boring to play and had a plot made out of politics, and the main character just kind of tagged-along for the ride instead of being important at all.
The Halo series is even MORE unoriginal, I’ll happily state that. Halo 3 may be the best one of the series, but it shouldn’t have been the biggest media release of all time. However, you can’t REALLY fault it for being unoriginal. Halo’s Sheep proved that they shat themselves over Halo’s mechanics, so changing it up just wouldn’t have been a good idea.
Besides, just because it’s not changing much doesn’t mean it’s bad. I don’t think anyone is complaining about Half-Life 2: Episode 2 having the same weapons as Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode 1. Nor is anyone complaining that between Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode 2, there are only 2-3 more enemies (it depends upon whether you consider the fast-zombie’s upper body as a new enemy). It IS starting to get VAGUELY stale, but they can keep it for another Episode before anyone starts to seriously complain.
But no one can complain about Portal though. That game is just brilliant for a 3 hour game (I miss my weighted companion cube)
six1s, I’m not taking meh’s side, but aren’t all we’re talking about just popular opinion?
Yes, many people hate the Final Fantasy series.
Yes, many people love it.
What’s it matter to us right now? And can I ask EVERYBODY an honest question?
Would we really be attacking FF as vehemently if it were a 360 exclusive?
BE HONEST!!!!
yes, I think, a few would still make a remark about it being overrated, but would it really go on like this? Even if we didn’t like it, would we just shrug it off and accept its fans? Would we be a little more receptive if FF was destined for the 360 alone?
P.S. Every franchise has it’s fans. Just like we don’t go hopping back and forth a lot between consoles, the same goes for games, esspecially as expensive as they’re getting. We find the franchises we like and stick with them.
That’s what’s going on with FF, and Halo, and dozens of others. You had fans that got in there with the hits, like FF7 and Halo1, and haven’t left as long as there’s content.
well put xeacons, everything comes down to opinion. “Different strokes for different folks” arguing on which opinion is better is a waste of time and energy because most likely each sides opinion will not be swayed.
yo, SDF when are u going to review uncharted??????
so busy hating on the xbox that u forgot about the ps3 huh, lol…..
Yeah, and same goes for the systems. I try to go for all three systems (I’ve got all last gen) to get the most variety in content, and the least bias in opinion, and I’m shooting for the same thing this time. I’m not a fan, I’m a connoisseur.
When the PS3 first came out, my major problem was the bugs, the price, lack of potential content (most developers left) and lack of warrenty.
Most bugs have been fixed, and the price is almost reasonable now. But I still don’t like the idea of no safety net, and few good exclusives. But the latter of which, the Wii is also having right now.
The only thing is the Wii’s controls make even last gen and multi-platformers a unique experience.
I’ll eventually have to pick up a PS3, once things calm down, but right now I’m living off my Wii and my brother’s 360.
guys you wanna chat to people with playstations AND brains? (unlike this mockery of a site) join the playstation forums, they dont bash me just cause i play xbox,
If FF release on Xbox 360, I would still say that it sucks except FF7
I joined SDF because I love to make fun of it. SDF ARE not honest, they’re just simply PS3 fan boy who feels that PS3 need to be protected from Xbox or Wii fan boys. I betcha many of you guys are not surprise anyways. What SDF NEED to focus is PS3 , not on other news like Mass Effect, xbox or Wii. Who cares what other system have, just focus on PS3 or sony.
Internet are funny.
yes, a game is defined by how good it is by hte number of people that like it. thats how it is.if lits of people like it,k then it’s good, if they don’t then its not. theres nothing else to it. so yes, because millions play ff, it is considered to be good for that reason. nothing else is needed because its opinion. if the mass opinion likes it then its good if they dont its not. and yea if it was 360 exclusive you’d change your tune.
ea are good because they make games people wanna play, they make people enjoy their games, just because a couple of people don’t like them doesnt change the mass view and the mass view decides wether its good or not. i may think its crap but the population decide overall if its considered good or not.
Meh,
Well considering I don’t even own a 360, I wouldn’t really care.
But it’s still opinion, and not fact.
There’s no way to make it true no matter how much you want it to be.
“ea are good”
OMG that made me laugh so hard.
Whats so funny Neo his grammer? I for one enjoy EAs pc games like Battlefield and Madden for consoles.
Does EA really do anything? I thought they just rehashed shitty sports games fuck up ports to the PS3 (Orange Box)
I mean I thought they just rehashed shitty sports games and fuck up ports to the PS3 (Orange Box)
I forgot to put “and” in there. Oops!
ea has some good titles like
army of two
crysis
episode 2
need for speed
medal of honer(its decent)
burnout
battlefield series(they screwed up 2142 so badly)
command and conquer 3
and battle for middle earth
alot of there titles suck
lucoque, shut the fuck up. Just because EA publishes a title does NOT mean they had anything to do with its creation. Valve made Episode 2, not EA. I don’t even know what the fuck a publisher does or what it’s for, but Valve did everything themselves on Episode 2. I’m pretty sure EA has nothing to do with Crysis, either, but I’m not sure on that.
@DaPWNzOr
The only thing that EA did for Crysis is publishing and advertising. They (EA) has a new program called the “EA Partners Program” which they DON’T have there hands all over the developers and fucking up games for a bottom line. Games like Burnout (Criterion software), Crysis(Crytek), and Bioware are all part of the EA Partners Program. So as long as EA doesn’t get (even more) greedy then there shouldn’t be a problem.

That also goes for Sony. They don’t make games. SCE publishes them.
But Sony does have some awesome studios under their belt. Naughty Dog (Jak, and the up-coming Indy wannabe) Level 5 (Dark Cloud), Sucker Punch (Sly Cooper), etc.
Maybe they do know quality. Or they just got lucky.
But as for EA, 90% of their games are either movie rip-offs (Harry Potter) or their infamous sports line-up [vomits]. I tell ya, John Madden needs to be shot.
Has any1 notice that Nomura was talking about Final Fantasy Versus 13 as a PS3 exclusive, not Final Fantasy 13?
ColdYellow, It will probably end up on PC.

Has any1 notice that Nomura was talking about Final Fantasy Versus 13 as a PS3 exclusive, not Final Fantasy 13?”
yes… because nomura hasn’t got anything to do with ff13, he is doing versus because of it’s similarities to kingdom hearts, which he also worked on, and lets not forget, ff13 and versus are using the ps3′s full power (apparently) so if a port comes to 360, expect an even lower FPS than the current version of half life 2 on the ps3 version of orange box (sometimes i think MS not only made a deal with EA to have dedicated servers… but made them fuck sony in the ass as much as possible)
heeh I can see many have commented my posts. I’m not saying the Halo franchise is a bad game, it just doesn’t get a grip of me like FF or MGS does. I like games with long stories and many plot twists. I just so happen to dislike the xbox. Does that make me a fanboy? I just don’t like the games on it. It’s all shooters. I mean the xbox top games are Halo, Bioshock and Gears of Wars and they are all running around and shooting, eventhough they are all good games. (Except for Halo but thats my opinion).
And I also don think FF or FF versus will be ported.
These games will come out like in late 2008/early 2009. By then there wil be lots of people owning a PS3. Then Square Enix are probably very Sony loyal, so thats another reason. But who am I to speak like I knew a shit…only time will tell.
@animekid3515
You do have to addmit not getting the Orange Box running well on the PS3 gets me questioning about the PS3 being more “powerful” than anything out there right now. C’mon the Source Engine is over 3 years old, and they can’t get the game running at a decent framerate on the PS3?
Also i don’t think that FPS in a FF game is not as a priority as in a First Person Shooter. Sure a 360 version may not look as pretty as the PS3 version, but it wouldn’t be crap either. If FF13 is using the PS3′s “full power” then I’m not impressed yet.
What it really comes down to is just developers trying to make it easy on themselves by keeping an exclusive. Speeds up production I guess.
Square wants FF on the PS3 (Sony’s always had them wrapped around their finger since the PS1).
As for the Orange box, it was just the opposite, Valve wanting a 360 exclusive, but when they did port it, they didn’t take the time to optimize it. With the “more superior” technology of they PS3, that just means more time and money out of developers’ pockets trying to work with it.
(Sony’s always had them wrapped around their finger since the PS1).
i lol’d at this comment. How on earth could you possibly know that? I mean seriously are you the president of either company? How do you know about their relationship, just because they make exclusives doesn’t mean they are wrapped around their fingers. I’m not gonna pretend i know the ins and outs of how Sony and Square are with each other but its funny how you think you know… Just a lol moment for me.
ColdYellow: Developer’s fault probably rushing. Not Sony’s not the the PS3′s.
And have you seen FFXIII properly? on an HD-TV fullsize straight from square or at one of their showings? Or have you managed to capture the whole essence and graphically astounding scenes from youtube like me? Jeez, don’t judge before you’ve seen proper footage, if you actually have at their conventions… apologies in advance.
Both are exclusive -.- deal with it.
@xeacons
Valve outsourced the game to a developer within EA. So it’s not so much Valve’s fault for optiziming it, it’s really the dev team at EA for not either A: Not putting a good team on it or B: They did put a good team on it and they just can’t get hold of the PS3′s archeticture or C: the PS3 is just a pain in the butt for 3rd party developers.
i know, even if some douchebags at EA crapped up the ps3 version, ill still buy the PC version of that jewel encrusted game.
i might end up getting a 360… but none of the games appeal to me except crackdown and doa4, which my cousin has… and people call me a fanboy for not liking the games that come on 360, then again, i dont research games… i’ll play a shooter once in a while, but ive got bioshock and gears on my pc already… and halo… not touching that crap ever again… blue dragon… meh:
1. same old battle system…
2. what an original name for an rpg
3. the character designs suit the wii…
only 360 exclusive i even like, but cant play, is mass effect, that i havent even played yet, but all the other shooter/rpg games ive played are shit…
oh.. and:
@xeacons: wrapped around their finger? well… how about final fantasy crystal chronicles? how about ff tactics advanced? how about ff11? how about ff3 on ds? the fact it’s a ps3 exclusive just boils down to squares decision.
they seem to want to make a beautiful game, so the wii is out of the picture.
and to sell well. (360 flopping in japan…) therefore, the 360 is virtually out of the picture, BUT thats not saying they wont make another entry to fabula nova crystallis on the 360. could happen… and you guys will drool over it im sure…
@animekid
one of my friends just bought Blue Dragon and he likes it quite a bit. He was skeptical about buying it over Mass Effect (then again he also like JRPG’s more than WRPGS) but he said he would buy Mass Effect after he gets through BD. If I remember correctly also the story for Blue Dragon is from the guy who did FF6 and the character designs are from the guy who did Dragon Ball Z.
Also not to like a game on its name is BS, you should never let your decision rest on the name of the game, but the quality of it should be the factor.
i know that… just thought i’d point it out… but the quality of the game really isnt that good… sure it goes back to basics of JRPG, but thats the problem.
i like my games with at least some interesting gimmick… hence the reason im not too big for resistance, heavenly sword, halo, or blue dragon.
“all the other shooter/rpg games ive played are shit…”
The Xbox is full of good shooters. I am a hardcore shooter fan (specifically FPS but I play the others as well). I have been playing shooters since Wolfenstien 3D and I must say that the 360 has been a great thing for shooter fans thus far. Gears of War, R6: Vegas, GRAW2, Bioshock, Shadowrun (some may debate if this was a “good” shooter, but it has good online play), The Orange Box, Halo, Kane and Lynch, and COD4 leaves the shooter fan with a plethora of choices. I know that some of these games are available on PS3 at a lower framerate, but the 360 has them all. Xbox Live is really what makes all this count for something though. While you do have to pay for it (a measly 14 cents a day), it is worth the money. Xbox Live makes it quick and easy for people to game together. Everyone I know in real life who plays video games has an Xbox 360 because they can play with their friends online easily.
Good for PS3!!
@seb56: its interesting seb… only 2 (maybe 1) of those games you mentioned are exclusive… sorry, no sale.
and as have said… they dont appeal to me. hardcore shooter fans stick to pc dammit!
@animekid
Having a interesting gimmick can swing both ways though. Blue Dragon’s gimmick is that it is supposed to be like a JRPG from the early 90′s. Look at Prince of Persia: Sands of Time compared to TimeShift. PoP used the “time control” mechanics really quite well and it was a good game from the last gen consoles (if not in my top 5). Now look at TimeShift; it’s a generic FPS with time control powers that are fun the first a couple times but its not really needed (unless the situation calls for them).
This site has matured in the last couple of months in terms of actual debates rather than simply saying “etards” and “xbots”.
@coldyellow
thats the whole bloody problem, im playing 2 RPG’s from the 90′s on my PC. i dont need another one because by the time i finish them, ff13 and versus will be out. when im done with them ill be playing kingdom hearts 3, i dont need a “new” rpg trying to be old school to keep me interested… but hey… at least it’s finally a 360 game that didnt go to pc in less than a year…
Uh, super smash brothers brawl ftw, 100%. How could you forget that, you nonchristian PSbox lovers?
what about ssbb? metroid prime 3 pwnz0rz it…
and what about SMBG or Zelda………wait a minute, there all games from Nintendo (and outside dev’s, but still there all the Big N’s properties).
Where’s the Uncharted 14/10, I need some new news, man, I need my fix!
You know this is about FF13 Verues not the real game right. Sure it is very unlikely right now of FF13 coming to any system. But then again PS3 is known to lose big titles. So i wouldn’t be shocked to see FF13 ported to the 360 or even FF14 being made for the 360
Metroid P3 P4WNS SSBB?!?!?!?! you fail within a divine scale.
“its interesting seb… only 2 (maybe 1) of those games you mentioned are exclusive… sorry, no sale.
and as have said… they dont appeal to me. hardcore shooter fans stick to pc dammit!”
Try four. Gears of War, Bioshock, Shadowrun, and Halo 3 are all exclusive to the 360 / PC. The PC doesnt really count as a console because there isnt a “standard” build. My point was that the 360 is the best out of the true consoles for shooter fans. Although some of the aformentioned are available for PS3, they are ports and therefore suffer from a poor frame rate. I can somewhat agree that Hardcore shooter fans stick to PC. You have to realize that its way to expensive to keep your rig updated in this day and age, which is why consoles such as the PS3, 360, and Wii are so popular. We cant all affoard to upgrade our computers yearly.
I can respect the fact that you dont like the titles on the 360, but to say that most if not all of its titles are shit is a fanboy / hater comment. Percentage wise the PS3 has a fair amount of good titles, its just it lacks a decent amount of titles altogether.
notice how he says “exclusive to 360/PC” now, while the pc may not be a console, it is a gaming machine, completely seperate from the 360. therefore, if a game comes out on the pc, guess what? its not a 360 exclusive.
and are you kidding? i can get a top of the line graphics card over here for AU$300 takes me 1 week to save that… but of course piling CPU’s RAM and whatnot on top of that can make it seem a bit pricey, i just upgrade when the next “great” pc game comes out that needs high specs, such as, crysis, upgraded for that one a while ago…
I noticed something kind of funny. They take a Mass Effect picture, screw up the lighting and the thing still looks better than the bland Japanese anime face. they show for FF XIII.
The final fantasy games are better than any other games out there sorry if i din’t have a ps3 already i go buy one just for this game
I’d rather not, I prefer western art to the ‘Perfect Anime’ look of the Japanese.
Well, that goes for most Xbox games. 90% of the best ones are also PC releases.
Now that’s not much of a problem as it was for the original Xbox, since the PC market is dwindling (not dying, mind you). The PC will always be an option, but most people consider “computer games” a different market for several reasons (among them, no need for licensing, individual upgrades rather than standard cycles, etc).
And PC will always have greater potential than any system because of the continuous upgrading.
But people get tired of that sometimes, so the 360 flourishes. It’s nice just to pop in a game and not worry that “your drivers are out of date.”
ps3up, it’s fine to voice you’re opinion… but you’re just asking for a major flaming…
Lol, Nintendo just had its greatest sales week its ever had, with 653,000 DS’s and 350,000 Wii consoles sold. Can’t wait to see the SDF chart on this one.
“The final fantasy games are better than any other games out there”
You’ve just won, the “Dumbest thing ever typed, EVER!” award.
animekid and six1s, you just won the “Dumbasses who are taking PS3UP for some bizarre reason” award! A stupid name for a stupid prize given to stupid people. Yay!
God damn it, “Dumbasses who are taking PS3UP seriously for some bizarre reason”. I can’t believe I forgot to type “seriously” in the previous post. Seriously, I seriously can’t seriously believe it. Seriously!
fine DaPWNz0r, i’ll spell it out for you, it would have been perfectly fine for him to say “final fantasy is my favourite game franchise ever” but when he treats this as if it means it’s the best… that’s asking for a flaming… dont get me wrong, i personally half agree with him… but saying “final fantasy is the greatest” is bad, especially when the website is filled with trolls…

by the time that game’s finished the margin of the console superiority will most likely be widened, and if ps3 is shockingly low, ff14 will most likely come to the 360.
don’t hold your breath though
Well I guess you DaPWNz0red, yourself then.
Hey, EVERYONE LISTEN UP!!!
This post is getting too full. Until SDF puts some new stuff up here, I vote we start filling up one of the older ones. Who’s with me?
Well they have nothing to post because they can’t spin Nintendo’s recent sales news in a bad way, and games like Mass Effect are getting very high scores, while games like Uncharted are getting mixed reviews.
“Well, that goes for most Xbox games. 90% of the best ones are also PC releases.”
@xeacons
What Anime also fails to realize is that most of the games I named are “Games for Windows.” They are still Microsoft’s turf even if they are on PC. Halo 2, GoW, Shadowrun, Bioshock, and even Crysis are “Games for Windows” (Halo 3 is still 360 exclusive and GoW was for a long time).
Seb656,
Shhhh, you’ll burst his fanbubble.
Hey Ho. FF is another one of Sonys average PS3 exlcusives. Like Ratchet and Clank and Resistance
@xeacons
I vote we keep posting on this one, lets see if we can go past 200 comments before they post another article!!!!!!
Now, Who is with ME!
SDF, we need more articles……i check this site like twice a day jus to be let down…..
wats up????

Final Fantasy games are BETTER, i love FF since my grandma got me FF7 whit a ps1 and since them i buy all of them and i never get tired.
Ey it’s cool you know how you have that game that you just like and you keep buying all the time and you play since you where a little kid thats tha game and since everybody is talking about FF, Final Fantasy 7 its the best game ever made and there is no other game from the time that can top it.
@seb656: you dont get it do you? if a game comes to the ps3, and is also put out on psp, it’s not exclusive, if a game comes out on ps3 and ps2, it’s not exclusive, you can play it on another system… so in turn if a 360 game goes to PC, guess what? you dont have to turn on your 360 to play it which means!? its not exclusive, regardless of the company, like EA playground, very fun game, but it’s out on the wii AND the ds, so it’s not wii exclusive. understand now?
@ps3UP: i never thought i’d say this, but you are getting really annoying praising one of my favourite game franchises…
also seb… considering microsoft do the OS only, and dont actually make computers… they should only get half credit for it, 2 thirds at the most, especially since they’re pushing that bag of shittiness that is vista with halo 2. they push all of their products with halo… it really gets me down to see such a big company have to resort to pushing their products with an average shooter that every xbox owner held onto and said “this is ours! it is the greatest!”
then killzone came out and a stupid video exploited the glitches… i love the first killzone… although it, just like halo, does not really bring anything new to the FPS genre, it’s presentation and sometimes… annoying shaky camera effect made for a great game… hope they put in KB/mouse support for KZ2.
Chrono trigger, Secret of Mana , Planetscape Torment, Baldur’s Gate 2 are the best rpg ever made. Final Fantasy series sucks except FFVII PERIOD.
Chrono Trigger >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FF
PS3UP, the only thing FF is better then, is smacking my dick with a coffee mug…
…scratch that, the coffee mug is better.
oh yes six1s let’s forget that shoddy RPG that came on 360 and later on ps3, heavenly arms or whatever it was
ff is at least better than that >.>
final fantasy cant really stand up to the classics like chrono trigger etc. but it’s a hell of a lot better than a heap of rpg’s coming out in this day and age.
versus is going to be better, i love the kingdom hearts battle system, and playing that without the cutsyness and disneyness will be great.
And yet Enchant Arms would have never existed if garbage like FF hadn’t preceeded it.
exclusive to 360/PC
From now on we should just say exclusive to Microsoft since these games are either for 360 or Windows. Both owned by Microsoft
@Anime
A game can be exclusive to more then one system. All it means is that it excludes all others. If you want to be anal retentive though, I could just say its brand exclusive (exclusive to the Microsoft brand). Besides your missing the point, which was that they are not available on other consoles (PS3, Wii)
Microsoft may not make the computers, but it is impossible to play the games without the MS OS. You cant discredit that. I am not denying that microsoft’s marketing tactics are dispicable or that Vista is a genuine load of horsecrap. Going on to talk more smack about the Halo series then glorify KZ is hilarious though. The reviews speak for themselves. Every game in the Halo series had an average of atleast 94 on Metacritic, where as KZ got a 70 average. You can argue all day long, but the Halo series are good games and KZ mediocre.
You will love this. I did a little browsing on Metacritic. The highest rating I could find for a FF game was 94. The Halo series appears to have higher scores then any of the FF games. Now that is pure comedic gold.
@PS3UP
“Final Fantasy 7 its the best game ever made and there is no other game from the time that can top it.”
That’s your opinion and I respect that; but on PS1 during that time a little game came out called, Castlevania: SOTN. If you never played it, I HIGHLY suggest that you either find a copy of it, or (If you can) download it off PSN. It is just a awesome game.
I support this site, and its creator because we must make the world see the Sino-Asian superiority. All western companies must fail (mainly US/OK ones)!
Wester made Japan not have as army since WW2, and our government said we would take the world by economy! It’s good to see youth helping on this quest!
First we’ll take London, then we’ll take New York!
p.s.: good work on ditching Nintendo too, they do their buisness in Dolars. Support Sony and Toyota!
@Seb halo and ff are two diffrent genres how can you compare them? Reviewers arent looking for the same thing in a FPS as they would in a RPG, not really a fair comparison.
Well, ff sucks and Halo wins, so its like comparing shriveled, dried up, regurgitated, AIDS infested apples to plump, juicy, fresh oranges. Naturally, one of those is better. See? Its not too hard.
@seb: so how did i get bioshock running on my linux…
you dont see me bragging on about the crytek guys looking for a ps3 programmer for porting anymore do you? no? that’s because even if crysis came ot ps3, it wouldnt be exclusive, and by the halo series, im guessing that means you added all the reviews of all halo games together, and put it up against one final fantasy game?
because halo for PC got an 83, halo 3 got a 94, halo 2 on xbox got a 95, and on pc got a 72, the only halo that has a higher rating than 96 is the original halo on xbox with a 97.
Well, halo sucks and ff wins, so its like comparing shriveled, dried up, regurgitated, AIDS infested apples to plump, juicy, fresh oranges. Naturally, one of those is better. See? Its not too hard.
no it’s not, dont feel smart for comparing a game like halo that brought shit all to the fps genre and was called a perfect game, and got worse with each subsequent release, to a game like final fantasy that saved a company from sheer doom, and has constantly changed, the good/bad factor fluctuating with each game.
and final fantasy still manages to grab the hearts of every otaku in brissie. i know quite a number of people who are getting a ps3, just for ff13 and versus.
The things Halo did are still being duplicated in one form or the other today. Rechargable shields/health, 2 gun only arsenal, a dedicated grenade button, and the term “Halo Killer”. I’m not saying FF is crap, but when was the last time (besides FF7) it truly innovated or added to a genre of game?
FF only appeals to Otakus the problem is that there are way to many of them, shame that deporting people because they like anime and manga is illegal.
I know quite amount of people rather wait for reviews on FF13 and versus before buying PS3, smart move.
“The things Halo did are still being duplicated in one form or the other today. Rechargable shields/health, 2 gun only arsenal, a dedicated grenade button, and the term “Halo Killerâ€. I’m not saying FF is crap, but when was the last time (besides FF7) it truly innovated or added to a genre of game?”
1. halo didnt invent rechargeable health shields.
2. hmm… maybe… ff12, never seen a battle system or upgrading system like that.
final fantasy rarely uses “already used” battle and upgrading systems, and when they do, they tweak it.
@hark: well with halo 3 being the pile of crap that it is, i dont even trust the reviewers anymore, assasin’s creed wasnt anything special.
i still trust good game on their critical views on it, looking at the fine details and comparing it to the hype it built up.
The point is, whether or not halo is original, they succeeded in the nar-single goal of fps, which is that its incredibly fun to kill and such. Why should I really care if its been done before? A games not necessarily supposed to be art, just enjoyable.
animekid, ff12′s battle system was new and innovative, but it was also terrible and not fun. The characters had no originality in terms of the way they fought; only a little bit of training was required to get characters to perfectly mimic each other. Also, combat isn’t good if you don’t enjoy it. The bosses are cool and VERY hard, but general combat is called “Set Up the Correct Gambits and Wait”. That doesn’t sound all that great, and in truth, when playing, it really isn’t.
halo original? LMAO, damn that made my day
“1. halo didnt invent rechargeable health shields.”
Care to show me any Pre-Halo FPS that did this?
And Lucoque, like it or not, Halo DID bring new stuff to the FPS table, you’re just sore it wasn’t a PS2 game.
six1s, maybe animekid was referring to something other than an FPS? The Protos in StarCraft had regenerating shields, but then again, animekid is a dumbshit and I’m probably giving him too much credit.
To be honest, I loathe what Halo did in terms of the rechargeable shields. In Halo 1 it was okay, but in the subsequent chapters… in multiplayer, it meant if you didn’t kill a guy completely, then you accomplished absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, in both single player and multiplayer, it meant that if you found enough cover, even in the middle of a firefight, you could get back to full health. I find that to be terrible; as a fight wears on, you should become weaker, meaning you have to be careful. In Halo multiplayer, everyone just goes Rambo, and actual strategy is rarely employed.
I’m going to put on my Half-Life fanboy hat again for a moment. I absolutely LOVED the Xen chapter at the end of Half-Life 1. Your enemies didn’t get weaker in that chapter, but your supplies were decreased to almost nothing; you had to be fucking walking on eggshells. For health? You get an occasional pool of liquid that can regenerate health (or a device that transfers said liquid later on). That’s the easy part. For armor and ammunition? Your only supplies in that area come packs left from those who came to Xen before you… and died.
Try having a more epic feeling final chapter than THAT. Regenerating health makes things FAR too easy; the only way they add difficulty is by resorting to what I call “three hits you’re dead” gameplay, which is bullshit. The regenerating SHIELDS with non-regenerating main health in Halo 1 was okay; it was new, interesting, and neat for gameplay. Halo 2 and 3, Red Steel, Gears of War, Crysis, etc. with completely-regenerating health/shields/whatever is terrible. While a lot of those are still fine games, the regenerating health is a bad idea, at least to me. Gears of War might be an exception because it’s not a standard FPS, but you get the idea.
tl;dr: Halo invented rechargeable health to the FPS genre, not in other genres, but it’s bullshit.
six1s, ever heard of health packs?
and may i ask what did it bring?
i dont find it fun either… might be a little fun if i didnt get 12 voice messages a day telling me to put down the pistol and use a different weapon O.o
ff12′s battle system, is fun only to those hardcore RPG players, if you’re just wanting to play an RPG, steer clear of the originality that is ff12, i dont se anything wrong with it, customize your allies’ AI. i never set any gambits for my party leader so i can play fully. it is complicated, but once you get it right. but i guess the xbox and wii owners wouldnt really know a good J-RPG if it spat in their face.
Oh great. Now my comments are awaiting moderation.
Anyway, whenever this gets posted, animekid, you’re retarded. I have a PS2, and I’ve played FFXII. I never set any gambits for my leader either, but that just adds unnecessary button pressing, I found out later. The movement and free-roaming is wholly unnecessary, and the same thing could be accomplished with a FFVII-like battle system. In fact, a FFVII-like battle system would be better if it cut down on the world size, which is suffering from a HUGE case of generic-corridor syndrome in some places.
FFX was fucking AWESOME. FFVII was good, so was FFVI and a lot of the others. FFXII was annoying, to be honest. The only really good thing about it is that it was actually hard; I lost in one of the boss battles, and it took me a lot of training to be able to BARELY beat it.
Beyond that, it’s a bad game. FFX was the last good game in the series; it’s been straight downhill ever since. I hope that their next main FF game is good, but so far, it doesn’t look like it is.
Huh, that comment didn’t await moderation, but the one before it did. Maybe it’s because the comment before the one I just posted is HUGE.
TIME TO POST THE HUGE COMMENT IN CHUNKS!
six1s, maybe animekid was referring to something other than an FPS?
Oh God damn it, I tried to post the huge comment in chunks, but apparently the chunk I posted was too huge and now it’s awaiting moderation. Oh well, I’ll just wait for the moderators to get to it then.
*sigh* you may personally hate ff12′s batle system and whatnot but, unnecessary button pressing? dont make me laugh, free roaming isn’t necessary? well… videogames arent necessary, but they still exist, no?
i can agree it would have been “better” with the old school system, in some ways, unfortunately, we would have more people bitching “UUUUHHHH RANDOM BATTLES SUCK!!! HAHAHAHA HALO’S BETTER” and things of that sort, ff13, has more of an ff7-esque battle system, not full control, but not random battles or standing in a line fighting either.
i enjoyed ff12, but there it is still no contest for 7, 8, 10, and 10-2 (it’s battle system at least)
Yeah, I did use the wrong description. I’m living in Japan, so my English skills are slowly but surely dieing, so I often say things incorrectly.
By free-roaming, which was the wrong thing to say, I meant having huge environments so you can fight everything without going to a different screen. The hugeness is great, but, having everything so big has its downsides, the main one being what I call “generic-corridor syndrome”. By that, I mean that developers cut down on file size and level design by choosing a palette to build a level from. This is most evident in games like the .hack\\ series. It’s really obvious in some of the temples of FFXII.
With “unnecessary button pressing”, I was referring to not using gambits on the main character. If you just set up a few gambits on the main and all the other characters, you just run into a small group of enemies, wait to win, run into a small group of enemies, etc.
You can leave gambits off the main character to feel more involved, but the fact is that the automated gambits are faster and there are points where you can play the game with just the analog sticks. Thus, the button pressing you do if you leave the gambits off are unnecessary, because you can just use the gambits instead.
animekid3515,
I’m not talking about health packs, I’m talking about you’re banged up, you run and take cover, and over time you can come back out because your sheilds are recharged themselves. Are you TRYING to make people own you?
@six1s: oh yes, i saw that in a half life mod years ago (anything they dont copy from that game? besides… being fun)
@DaPWNz0r: well you can complain that the gambits are crap, if you have to use them, if you dont have them on, you choose your command as you would in any final fantasy game, and move to your target, dont find that unnecessary, same with star ocean, you control one character, but can give commands to other characters, have full control, and yeah… you fight… the only real problem with the way ff12 handles this, is the battles seem a little slow at times. but i still beat it in a month. cant say that for many games (either beat it within a week, halo, or get so fucking bored that i dont bother finishing it at all, star ocean 2)
dammit, my last comment is awaiting moderation.
Well, apparently we’re not going to be getting anymore updates until the release of Killzone 1.5. I played every PS3 game out now 10 times through, then waited for 4 days and still nothing.
dont think anyone would believe that coming from a guy with that name.
i’m still enjoying playing warhawk online. resistance online, motorstorm online, have yet to finish ratchet and clank. might get lair… jaws unleashed got shit ratings and i loved it.
and hahaha killzone 1.5
have a look at this “crap game”

This situes proves the superiority of Japanese economy and Culture. You don’t see these kinda sites in Japan for a western company, not in our wildest dreams.
Yay Sony! Yay Japan!
Don’t forget to support Blu-Ray! If we control the media, we’ll controll the data, if we control the data – nothing will stop us!
MS will be on their knees…, Sony will take over, maybe even buy the rest of Holywood? who knows? the sky’s the limit!
Ditch Toshiba, they’re partning with western companies. Nintendo’s not trustworthy too, they deal in dolars, and they love England.
YAY Sony! YAY Japan!
Just one last note:
- It is VERY important for Sony (us, Japan-Legion) to push Blu-Ray (it’s even more important than the video-game market, that will come after – like everything else, as a matter of fact), it will give us total control of the distribution market. We’ll decide what comes to public and what not. Sony products will be 1st, whether the like it or not, the other will come after – if they behave – LOL!
i think the format wars are far from over… but the only real thing HD-DVD has over blu ray, is cost… really… and hey, everything becomes cheaper.
i just wish sony and MS would stop bribing everyone and let them decide for themselves…
Come on people, we need 8 more comments to hit the 200 mark! It looks like we might have the rest of the day, but lets not wait. He could post a new article by lunch! So Lets DO IT! 8 More in the next hour or so! We gotta break 200 before he posts another article!!!!
Wow. After seeing that video, I can see that I was 100% wrong. Killzone 0.5 seems to absolutely lack any originality as well. Funny about the Halo complaints on that subject. Furthermore, you’re considering… lair? Well, it looks like you too have run out of games to play.
Update the news, this site is getting boooooring.
BOOOOORING
BORRRING

animekid3515,

He can’t name one. Halo was original and brought old concepts to the table better then ever (vehicels were implimented in an easy to use way). It seems like everyone likes to talk down on Halo, but its just funny to me. Halo is the biggest selling game in history, PERIOD.
I like Halo alright, the thing about the 3 games is nothing ever really compelled me to finish any of them. I usually lose interest around the point where you encounter the flood, cause its that point when it really felt like they were just making shit up. Like they wanted this particular kinda of bad guy to fight but couldnt come up with a way to ‘tie’ it into the story very well. Funny thing is cause I never finished 1 or 2 I forgot all about the flood, till they hit me like a ton of bricks on the 3rd one. So then I switch to the multiplayer, which I enjoy quite a bit for a few days to a week.
This should make comment 198. We only need 3 more to break 200. I know we can do it before he posts another article!
Just brought Castlevania: SOTN for PS2, excellent game.
Original Halo was the greatest fps for console PERIOD, I could play more then 10 times which I already did. I love the whole thing about the game especially the flood part, using shotgun is wicked for flood. Also what I love about the game is : cooperative. Halo has proves that FPS can be really good on console. Halo 2 and Halo 3 is okay, just a bit disappointing that’s all and I couldn’t play more then 10 times.
I do like FF but 3/4 in the game can be boring, yes I love FFVII but man alive the battle scene is just too long and sometimes I almost fell asleep. Sometimes it gets my nerve when I encounter a mob everytimes, I just want to get over with
That goes for FFVIII to FFXII, it’s a good game really but half of the time it just a drag.
Mass Effect is the great rpg game to me because it’s not too long and the whole game is overwhelming. The story, sound, graphic with HDTV and you can choose what your character can be. It’s not a perfect game because of very few bugs I have encountered but it’s forgivable, in fact nothing is a perfect game.
Oh btw, 200 !!!
I win
Thats how its done, Great Job Hark699.
Its rather sad that an article can get 201 comments before they post a new article.
@Hark659
Not to nitpick, but Castlevania:SOTN was on PS1 and the Saturn. Congrats on finding that gem of a game though. I still got my original copy of it, and it still gets played to this day (just over 10years since it came out). Now I don’t know if you ever played it, but in my opinion it’s the last of the good 2d games and the best PS1 game (yes even better than MGS or FF7, combined). Have fun with it and NEVER GET RID OF IT OR LOSE IT!
“Wow. After seeing that video, I can see that I was 100% wrong. Killzone 0.5 seems to absolutely lack any originality as well. Funny about the Halo complaints on that subject. Furthermore, you’re considering… lair? Well, it looks like you too have run out of games to play.”
well for someone with a wii, you wouldnt know a good fps if it bit you in the ass.
killzone 2 is very much like crysis, very good graphics, little in the way of “totally new!!!” but uses stuff rarely used in fps and makes it better.
@six1s: i told you it’s awaiting moderation!
i saw it in a half life mod years and years ago.
back in the day…
Z0MG HALO SELLS IT’S THE GREATEST GAME EVER! well… i say that sales show popularity, the way to find out if a game is “good” or not, is to look at the design quality, how well they executed it. now i find a lot of gaming sites buy and sell reviews (i dont like blue dragon, but it deserves more than a 6) good game in my country looks at:
1. graphics
2. AI
3. new and/or rarely used features in the genre and how well they did it
4. if for PC, how accessible it will be to players (hence crysis’ lowish score)
and things of that sort, now halo 3, has amazing textures, (looked at the char models in 3DSMAX) but the polygon count is laughable. resolution only in 640p… but… textures are amazing
as for AI, go on legendary, the snipers move around and the enemies flank you more… but that’s about it.
not to mention when in the warthogs the AI is terrible
(either driving us into a rock, or shooting at random grunts while a banshee or whatever is closing in on us about to blow us sky high)
the chaingun is rarely used in fps these days… as for new stuff… 2 thumbs down.
how accessible well considering every man and his dog wants to play this, and the 12 year old noobs i find all the time, anybody can come in and get number 1 in a game…
A good fps? Metroid Prime 3 FTW, and MOH Heroes 2 has some awesome controls. And, like you and I said, Failzone 2 looks absolutely inoriginal, which seems to be the major halo complaint floating around. Furthermore, enough complaints about Halo. Its fun (at least the first one, which I have, is), which is kinda the deciding factor when I get a game.
That Killzone 2 video was very impressive. He mentioned a lot of important things, and I’m really looking forward to it. I might just wait for it to come out on PC; all good FPS’s eventually do. Congratulations PS3, you’ve made me want one of your games. Total reasons to get you now: 1.
“i saw it in a half life mod years and years ago.
back in the day…”
Present proof, or it didn’t happen.
O.o jeez, a mod that’s fucking old and you want me to present proof? why dont i just stop the rain over here while i’m at it!?
@DaPWNz0r: you DO know that guerrilla games are a 1st party dev right? no multi platforms, ’tis a rule.
@mr. wiip MP3, ’tis alright game, but as “good game” said, it is pretty identical to the original prime, but with motion sensing, that’s not to say it isnt a bad game though, let’s get something straight, i have no beef with the wii, i do, however have a beef with people who call halo the best fps in the world, when it does not bring anything new… that’s what the best fps in the world needs, new stuff, exploring areas of fps never ventured through before!!!! killzone 2, does not do this, it can be labeled an average shooter, until you look at the details… does things NOT done in average shooters, amazing graphics, sci-fi-ish but with believable weapons. and most important, dynamic world, lots of physics objects, and guided motion captured animations from the enemies, they take the motion captured animations, and can get the game to change them slightly based on speed, direction, and type of bullet. and not to mention they react to wherever you hit them, this is not bad, it is not average, but it is not perfect, it is a great presentation, and will WOW any console-only-gamer, and satisfy nearly any gamer… of course… there are people like you who do not even say WHY it is bad… warning, mr. wiip is slowly stooping to SDF’s level.
again, DaPWNz0r: if first party devs were allowed to port games to other systems, ratchet and clank: TOD would have gone to 360 quite a while ago… it’s basically not selling…
The PC market is disassociated with the console market, in terms of what you call exclusive and whatnot. A game developer will make some cash by eventually porting a game to the PC, and porting it to the PC doesn’t encourage anyone to buy a different console.
If a game is out on a console and PC, it’s still called “exclusive” to that console.
so… why the hell wasn’t killzone 1 put on PC?
if they’re going to put a sequel on the PC, they should have put the original on there too right?
besides, a first party dev can’t port games to any other comapany’s system PERIOD… at least that’s what the deal is with sony, the whole reason so many xbox shooters go to PC, is because microsoft makes windows, therefore, they still get money. since guerrilla games are owned by sony, i highly doubt sony will just go.
“yeah just put the game on PC we dont care, our consoles failing, but go ahead.”
sounds… illogical.
so… why the hell wasn’t killzone 1 put on PC?
Because no one would have bought it? It sucked for PS2 why would it be any better for PC?
animekid3515,
What I asked is not unreasonable.
“Some mod” doesn’t exist.
Even if it had, an outside mod wouldn’t count.
Example. Mods made a ho-hum game like Star Trek: Legacy into a really good game. When people review the game however, they are basing it on the code that came with the retail package, and not “after the fact” modifications.
“It sucked for PS2″
care to elaborate?
okay six1s jeez, the mod sucked anyway… it’s not like the regen shields weren’t put in to dumb it down for the console tards or anything…
killzone kicked ass you fuck go play the game. yes it had some problems like the frame rate and the one problem with the guns where they tried to make it realistic by lettting it fire away from the center bit of the crosshairs to make it seem like the gun was movin, with the sniper pistol or whatever sometimes itll fuck you up if you trying to get a headshot.and the death animations werent really good, but once you get past those glitches the game is really great in alot of ways,
bungie was working on the game for apple before microsoft bought them out. what if they had the shield regeneration in it by that point? would it have been for the mac tards out there? and macs are one step closer to a PC, so whats that saying about you? I love how you give people shit about calling you or sony fans names but then you turn around and call people who play consoles retarded.
are you kidding? mac only users barely play any fucking games… of course they would have to dumb it down just as much if not more.
“turn around and call people who play consoles retarded”
because i base my argument on facts, no really, they are console tards, and it started with the xbox… never had any trouble with gmaes dumbed down for consoles… then the xbox came along… ask my MSN contact tesseract… one hell of a PC gamer, got an xbox… called it “good in theory, unfortunately all the games are dumbed down, such as halo, is one of the easiest fps games i’ve played, even on legendary i breezed through it.” was quite a while ago. but look at bioshock:
bioshock=system shock 2, but dumbed down for the console tards. might not have that problem if it was PC exclusive… but you never know…
god i get angry when they imply that i’m ignorant.
god i usually say “yes, this is what might happen, but we cant really say for sure” such as MGS4 porting to 360, if it doesnt sell a million copies worldwide on launch, there will be a HUGE chance it will go to the 360, but MGS4 being like the biggest ps3 title of next year, i doubt a million is anywhere out of their reach.
killzone 2 being good, yes it looks amazing from that demo i showed… but can not really say anything totally concrete until we play it, but from that play through, i’m not dissapointed after the initial trailer was announced as CG.
I personally think Final Fantasy XII was a huge dissapointment. So I care not for the franchise right now.
Tsk, tsk, animekid, my point was there are good FPSs for the wii, and MP3, controls alone, is too good an example. Now, I wouldn’t call Killzone 2 origanl (or fun) because it has incredible graphics. Graphics always seemed incredible on all previous gen consoles when they were made, so I wouldnt call it new. Nor would I call multiple enemy reactions to bullets all that groundbreaking. However, again, originality is NOT the deciding factor. Sure, Halo didn’t do too much new, but it took the ideas that are common to most fps and actually made them extremely fun. So it doesn’t quite matter if the same ideas have been used before, especially if they were horribly implemented. Also, failzone 2 looks like it would be boring because of all the gameplay footage that I saw looked like it was using those same ideas as the other fps and sucking at using them. You might as well call it call of duty 1 (here, inoriginality is a problem, because its practically a clone).

Stupid moderation
I Wiip, MOH Heros 2 is another excellent example. They really did it right there.
ok i hate all the people on this sight everyone of them especally animekid3515 you know what that name just screams NEVER GONNA GET LAID ok he his a huge hippocrit first he is trashing halo 3 then he’s saying its ok stick with one god damn opnion now the ff series yes there has been around for maybe what 20 years im guessing and there operating by the if ain’t broke don’t fix it systme and u know what thats ok becuase it will still sell millions of copies now let me adress the halo issue yes i have yes i pored countless hours into it but it does not deserve a 10/10 more like 9.5-9.75 ok which is still good but i have moved onto call of duty 4 which in my opion is better than halo 3. and why don’t they review any of the games that come out on both consoles? well that is becuase the only thing they can say is graphics where is the COD4 review or the Assassins creed review? tell me i want to know how the same game is better on the ps3. please animekid i want to hear what your ass thinks ok but i have a few questions for u.
1. So u play WOW
2. Are u over twenty or out of high school masterbate to cartoon porn and live in your parents basement?
3. do u play D&D?
4. Do you have anyother friends of the oppisite sex?
5. why are u gay?
6. and my final 1 is do i want to hear your high pitched voice over live. well yea here this is my gamertag ok send me a message and i will listen to it ok my tag IOV SICKNESS
o put that gun to your head your a fuckin disgrace!! couple seconds left whats it gonna be pull the tigger BITCH!!!!!!!!!
KZ2 trailer did look amazing, but KZ was just kinda “take it or leave it”. While KZ2 does look great I’m not holding my breath for it though. Just hope they fix the problems from the first one (like being kinda boring after a while, but damn the SFX where nice and loud though)
I’m interested what would happen if KZ2 get crap reviews? Hell look at what sony did to Lair: did or almost totally turned there back on the game. We really don’t here much about Lair anymore (and possibly Heavenly Sword).
Quite true six1s, awesome fps.
really, random frag, you take hypocrite to a new level *tsk tsk tsk*
as xeacons says, would we REALLY be complaining about killzone 2′s graphics and how that means it’s not going to be fun (?) if it was on the 360 or the wii?
graphics are the surface, the gameplay is the core, you dont HAVE to be waving a stick around to be having fun.
random frag:
1. nope…
2. i live in my fucking apartment ffs.
3. i’m not good when you dont tell me the actual name…
4. 6 of them
5. likewise
6. if this is how you treat my over the internet, god i’m not telling you my fucking gamertag.
gonna let XBL expire in a few days anyway. getting sick of it… really…
@coldyellow: you still dont know that reviews are bought and sold?
where have you been…
@animekid
Then what about the guy from Gamespot getting fired. Eidos advertised, dude gave it (Kane & Lynch) a 6 or something like that, and then shit storm insued.
Maybe this might sound ignorant, but usually the people that bitch and complain about reviews being bought or sold are the ones who disagree with the review in the first place.
Face it Killzone was just a generic FPS. If KZ2 is more of the same then it will get crap reviews. Assassins Creed is a polarizing game in the game review business, but I think it’s a damn fine game (and thats what matters, not someone’s opinion.)
And WHY DID YOU BUY A 360 IF YOU AIN’T REALLY GOT ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT IF HALF THE TIME?
ANIMEKID=SONY FANBOY.
It just needed to be said.
animekid, I hate to admit it, but it seems to be the case now. Either that or hype. Halo 3 got a 9.8 on GameTrailers, but The Orange Box only got a 9.3? Bullshit!
ok so u don’t play WOW i give u props for not falling into that death trap u din’t ansewr the question about the cartoon porn so im gonna take that as a yea since your post about the jap XXX thing really man its the best this better be some temporary thing becaue im not into the beavers and the pre pubacent tits, ok i’ll belive u about the 6 since u ansewred alot of my questions o D&D is dungens and dragons i think u would know that with all the shit u post. #5 this isn’t about me its about u becuase no noraml person knows all this shit that u post and im sorry i just have trouble treating someone with the name animekid3515 ok i just can’t do that! But this site is just full of bull shit because Bioshock is a great game and even u must agree with that and doesn’t deserve a 5/10 and your right about the human AI in halo 1-3 damn everyone knows that they are retarted but they got better than in H 1-2 and at least these guys are not doing cross consle reviews. o and the console tards don’t u own 1 with your letting xbl expire so your calling your self a tard and alot of other people a tard. o let me give u my predicts for game of the year in my honest non biast opeinion Bioshock, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Maybe Heavenly sword, Crysis. o and Halo wars will be good if they get it right but its gonna be nothing compared to endwar peace out bitches
I think the site is dead.
i think the joke has gotten old, and the comments a bit out of control. I hope he takes the site down actually.
It’s been two weeks, hasn’t it? Damn!
They must be too broken up about Jack Tretton’s apparent non-excitement about the SDF family charts.
What is everyone’s beef with Halo? It was a good game. No, it isn’t comparable to games like Unreal Tournament, but thats because they’re for different audiences. Contrary to your belief, the actual genre of First Person Shooters is very diverse. There are lots of different kinds of them everywhere. Halo is a little slow for my taste. If you’ve ever played Quake 3 online, you know what I’m talking about. No, it isn’t the greatest game ever, as System Shock 2 has already been made. However, it had absolutely excellent multiplayer. Getting together with friends for a few matches is awesome. No other Xbox game before that let you do so much on the battlefield. It set up the integration of vehicles into FPS, although Tribes did it first.
The BEEF so to speak, is that it was on “The Enemy’s” console.
ff suks after 13…..it rly old…..theres nothing final about it…..sept my score for it
-85 out of 5
it sucks
Oh, I see…
That is unfortunate. Fanboys are the plague of the video game world. I love Metal Gear Solid, but I wouldn’t say it is a better game than Splinter Cell. They both were released on the Xbox at the same time, so they were in competition. They’re different, neither better games than the other.
I’m not console-biased, really. I don’t own any of the “next-gen” consoles, but I own all of the last gen ones. I probably won’t buy any of the current consoles until I finish all the games I already own. Besides, there are still so many games I have left to experience on the PS2, since I bought mine only 2 months ago. I finished almost all of the decent games on the Xbox, as well as essentially all the games released on the Dreamcast. I still have 4 or 5 left to go on the Gamecube, then 20-30 left on the PS2, then I should be ready for the next generation. Unfortunatly, I don’t think there is enough time in the coming year, so 360 + Wii in 09, then PS3 in ’10.
WOAH!! Man, I was expecting to see nothing new on this site today but BOY WAS I WRONG.
Can’t say I’m that interested in new Final Fantasy titles. The last one I “waited” for was number nine, and it was a bit of a letdown. Not a bad game, not at all, just.. a letdown – especially after playing numbers six and seven. Post-IX Final Fantasies haven’t interested me at all. I blame the fact that I don’t like “anime” influence in games, especially in the PS2/Xbox 3D era. The characters look weak and/or feminine, their personalities are bland and their dialogue is usually awful.
An example: Castlevania – Curse of Darkness (The One With The Demon Summoner) had some of the more laughable cut scenes in Japanese video game history. The characters looked and acted like mannequins and spoke like Keanu Reeves fresh out of a failed acting school. Konami? Play God of War. See how characters, the action and, hell, everything is made blood-chillingly effective.
The problem I have with Japanese “anime” games is probably the fact that I’ve seen too much anime in my time. I used to be an avid anime fan, and then, a few years ago, something snapped. Nowadays I tend to watch anime for the sole reason of getting pissed and angry because of the ridiculous stories, characters, action and dialogue… Just so I can enter the series of tubes that some people call the Internets!
Yes, I know there exists a lot of good anime. The problem is that for every good anime in existence (mostly Ghibli), the world is attacked by a slew of awful crap like, well, Evangelion. Oh, and Gundam Wing! And don’t get me started on that pile of garbage, FF7: Advent Children. Thank you, Square-Enix, for making a godawful “sequel” to a great game. At least the music still rocked, right? Right? What? The FF7 battle theme with electric guitars and super-heavy-exxxxtreme riffs? God is officially dead. Okay, the song at the beginning of the movie (when Marlene recaps the FF7 story) roxxors my boxxors.
Luckily they made Crisis Core, the game that got me playing on my PSP again. Now if I could just understand Japanese…
And now for the final touch: I prefer the 360 over the PS3! Egads! I suppose I’m an xbot or whatever they’re called.
P.S.
Why no new updates, SDF? I’m longing for some new information about the Sony world!
theyve run out of good news for the ps3, and they cant twist any good news about the Xbox into bad news
Halo did indeed have a few innovations (and improvements to past innovations). Some of which even became mainstream in FPS games that followed the series’ wake:
Recharging Health/Shields
Very Limited Amounted Of Weapons That Could Be Carried At One Time
An Easy To Use Grenade System
Easy And Applicable Melee System
Ability To Take Screenshots
Ability To Record Films Of Gameplay
A “Map Editor†(nothing new to the PC market but groundbreaking for consoles)
Ability To Share The Above Three Items To The Rest Of The World Via File Share
Excellent Matchmaking Service
Of course that’s not to say it didn’t have it’s problems:
Over-The-Top Hype
Repetitive Level Design
“Pop-in†Textures
Some Have A Problem With Each Halo Game Playing The Same As Its Predecessors. For the most part this is true but “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix itâ€.
It’s over because they have nothing to spin.
Good news for other systems is clear cut, and unspinnable, and bad news for the PS3 has also become unspinnable, it’s over for the SDF.
six1s, you get the last word on the SDF failure.
It’s depressing coming here everyday and not seeing anying new. They make up enough shit anyways, you would think they could make up some more.
I would try and get people to post comments to break the 250 and 300 mark but it seems like a moot point now. So do whatever, I dont care anymore.
I don’t know, that seems about all that can be done now here.
This is just lazy management. They could at least post one of those Sony Family graphs. Those are usually worth a laugh or two. Maybe another article about Xbox 360′s RROD or something.
They have to write another article. They haven’t picked Drake’s Killzone Gear Clank Sword 4 as the Game of the Year yet.
wasnt there supposed to be a monday mail bag thing? is the a boycott on mailing the guy that im not aware of?
Like I keep saying, there’s NOTHING they can spin.
Especially after several sites started lumping Nintendo’s systems together. SDF can’t spin that “Sony Family” anymore. Because Nintendo’s family has better numbers.
They can’t spin new PS3 games as AAA title, because of Gamerankings.
They can’t go “PS3 won in this region!”, because PS3 is behind again!
They can’t talk about Killzone, because the devs got caught photoshopping their screenshots.
It’s just not a spin-friendly time.
Poor SDF.
I miss the good old days.
i kinda wish he would go to his other site and bring this crap up. like the bit about killzone 2 screenshots being photoshoped. the only reason this sites getting hits and comments is cause its totally absurd. if he started talking smack on his other site he would get some hits there too.
PS3 just lost Star Ocean as an exclusive, it’s going to 360 as well.
If SDF badmouths SE like they did Capcom, then they are badmouthing FF, and by doing that they can’t call themselves Sony fanboys.
This is Depressing, I used to come on here for a laugh, even the people with PS3′s apear to have stopped posting, c’mon SDF post something, oh wait, I forgot, theres nothing to post
i’ve been crying myself to sleep, since SDF died…….
I hoping they will do a story on the upcoming NPD’s for last month.
So far TIME Magazine has name Halo 3 their GotY and the Spike TV VGAs (as credible as they are) listed BioShock as their GotY.
@six1s:
i guess you didn’t notice the “rumour” part…
dictionary.com says:
rumour: –noun
a story or statement in general circulation without confirmation or certainty as to facts: a rumor of war.
still… too early to draw conclusions.
seriously six1s, random frag is misspelling, but since he’s bashing me and making claims even more outrageous than “4d graphics!” about me “nah, let’s leave mr frag to do his stuff…
i’m a pc gamer first, a console gamer second…
half the reason i love my ps3 is the fact that games can use the mouse an keyboard, i’m sure the 360 can too, but it hasn’t been put into practice as it was in UT3.
but i can’t stress enough that i don’t think sony are ANYWHERE near surpassing the 360, maybe ’09…
i’m not a fortune teller so who knows?
yea im bashing u what ever i don’t care what u say about me and yes i did misspell thnx for telling me now go look at some cartoon porn ok
blah blah blah blah….FF sucks ass period, you sony fanboys can back it up all you want but the truth remains the same, infact we’d be playing GTA4 if it wasn’t for your retarded system. Nobody gives a crap about your shitty exclusives like uncharted, lair, and heavenly sword which all look like PS2 games. This site is a hoax and deserves to be hacked
