1up slams Devil May Cry 4 (PS3) for Bluetooth “dropouts”

What the 360 doesn’t do, however, is drop a wireless Bluetooth signal, which is what happens fairly consistently on PS3. There’s nothing like being in the heat of battle when Nero or Dante suddenly stops doing what you want him to.
Interesting the writer chooses to mention early problems with the Sixaxis Bluetooth dropouts as a negative slant on the PS3 port of Devil May Cry 4. What about the chronic ‘red ring of death’ problems the 360 is still suffering from to this day? Shouldn’t it be noted that many users won’t even get to play DMC4 on their 360 because of potential RROD or disc read issues?
This isn’t the first time we’ve reported on what looks to be shady internet practices. We all know how the last one turned out now don’t we?
It happens to me once week or two that the SIXAXIS gets momentarily disconnected from the PS3, it probably last 5 seconds or less. It is an annoying issue, but not as bad having to send my console for repair. I am sure the new DualShock will resolve this problem. However reading the preview seems that this issue happened even twice within the same level of DMC4… one suggestion would be to plug the controller throughout the preview so to not impact negatively the whole experience. It could also be that their controller battery is wared out and it is time to change it.

I read the preview for that game and I was shocked when that Xbot attempted to diss the Sixaxis for dropouts. I have never, after owning my PS3 for 8 months, ever had the system drop my controller’s connection. That is the most shit-faced comment I have ever read.
Actually the RROD problems are becoming less frequent.

Also, he blatantly lies about loading times right after that as well. On IGN they actually timed the loading on each version. The 360 was 5-10 seconds and the PS3 was 1-3 seconds. Suck on that one.
Also SDF you forgot the lack of rumble and the “The Motion Sensor functionality is all but useless.”
Sure the 360 has the RROD, but at least when the console does work, it works and the controller doesn’t lose connection (especially if you use the wired).

The game has rumble support for those with the DualShock 3 and at least the PS3 has motion sensor functionality, unlike you crapbox. Also, who the hell would want to use a wired controller?

Had playing all the previos DMC games (including 2 which sucked), motion sensing isn’t needed or required for that game at all. Not only that how does motion sensing make a game better? Hell I got a Wii and not all the games with motion sensing (PS2 ports) are automatically better for having it.
BTW I got a wired controller for the 360 which I mainly use for my retro PC games anyway. Also stop being such a sony fanboy, such crap is futile anyway. The only thing you end up doing is screwing yourself over on the different type of experiences you will only get on the wii or 360. I myself plan on buying a PS3 by years end (hoping the fact no random unexpected expenses pop up).

I was not saying that motion sensing makes anything better. All I was saying is that it is nice that PS3 games at least have that option, unlike the 360. As for you calling me a fanboy, I am. I used to be a hardcore Nintendo fanboy, but that part of me died when the Wii came out. I bought one at launch (camped out in fact) and all I can say is it feels like a broken promise. After Zelda I had nothing, and still have nothing, to play on that little white box. And don’t say Super Mario Galaxy; that is the biggest broken promise of all. Successor to Mario 64 my ass. Galaxy doesn’t have even half of the awesomeness of 64.

I have a Dualshock 3 From Japan and it plays beautifull whit uncharted and i have never have a problem i play the DMC demo and it play good so i don’t know what are those 360 lovers are talking about?

Super Paper Mario, Geometry Wars Galaxies, Metroid, Zack and Wiki (awesome use of motion control, but a tad questionable), MoH Heroes, and Scarface. Sure I can see your point about the Wii (or any console for that fact), but to owe allegience to one console is just idiotic. Sure someone can be a fan of a particular game or series, but not to play a game that looks fun on a different console is being kinda shallow. Just because you feel nintendo caused you pain doesn’t mean you shouldn’t like there consoles or games. I’m upset at sega for theDreamcast (and still a big fan of) but that doesn’t mean I can’t play it’s games on it anymore.

What? I never even know the PS3 controllers had this problem, I played tons of hours on my PS3 using PS3 controllers for PS2, PS1 and the few PS3 games I own, i never had a single problem.

FYI the 1up guy has the FULL version and not the DEMO. Two it could be his PS3 console as Bluetooth connection problems have been one of the most common issues (although not as widespread and common as say the Xbox’s RRoD).

I dont have a PS3 so of course Ive never had the problem with the controller dropping the connection. But from what I could tell it will drop the connection and your character will just stand there and get his face kicked in, or whatever. The question I would like to ask is why doesnt the PS3 pause the game as soon as it ‘senses’ the controller is no longer connected? When the 360 controller gets disconnected (from the battery dying or you taking it into another room) it will pause the game and ask you to reconnect it. I could be totally wrong though, like I said I dont own the system.

Personally if this drop thing works like a controller shuts down, the game normally pauses, and tells you atleast all the PS3 games i Have do when I switch controllers, i’m too lazy to do the hold PS3button and manually change, I just shut one off turn one on. Every time I did that the game paused, and put up a messsage saying please turn on controller.
I never had any problem with my Sixaxis, with any game o_O. DMC works perfect on my PS3.

Ok first all they are saying is the Bluetooth drop is a problem in DMC4 not all the time. The only time I had an issue with the Bluetooth drop was in the DMC4 Demo. Two it’s not Microsoft or “Xbox” as some of you are putting it saying this. It is a Independent site. Three WTF dose the red ring issue have to do with DMC4 on the PS3? That’s just stupid.
@animekid3515 Gears is a much better game than anything out so far for the PS3. And if you haven’t heard of Dark Sector then you really need to stop posting on these sites because you really don’t know shit. Yes Random Frag is a the definition of “fan boy”. Just about every PS3 game has some mandatory use of the Sixaxis. Games like Lair and Warhawk just make you use it much more than the others.

The only console I own is a PS3, and I play it nonstop. My controllers have NEVER once failed. I have played the cap out of that demo and am looking forward to the game proper!

The red ring of death happens on a small number of X-Boxes (about 13%) where as the Bluetooth failure is nearly a 80% probability. If you want a motion sensitive controller stick with a Wii. To my knowledge PS3 (and the facts support this) is the one being outsold here in the USA, and Wii is owning the sales in Japan. The best use for a PS3 is to watch Blu-ray, gaming is best left to the professionals (such as Nintendo and Microsoft).
