Street Fighter HD to be downgraded on Live Arcade!

Street Fighter HD

From the Videogamer.com interview:

Videogamer.com: Does the 360 download limit cause any problems?

David Sirlin: Yes, it’s difficult to store so many 1080p graphics in such a small download size. A lot depends on the specific shading that the final art will have, and how well that shading compresses. It also makes it difficult or impossible to include all the original game’s music AND all remixed set of music. We’re still doing our best to fit within the limit we’ve been given.

Playstation Network Store has already hosted fully featured Arcade games such as Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection that weighed in at over 500MB. So, Playstation 3 owners can rest assured that they will be treated to the full 1080P Street Fighter experience at home.

Will Microsoft ever stop forcing developers to compromise games on Xbox Live Arcade?

    first…

    on topic:
720p and 1080p are hard to tell apart on a high def TV because of their massive size.
they THINK it looks different because it makes a hell of a lot of difference on PC monitors.
I’ll get the ps3 version if it’s superior either way, of course.

  2. Why would you even bother with street fighter in HD?

Slow news day, huh. You are aware that things download slower on PSN. So what this amounts too is sony being retarded.

  3. I Wiip for Sony Says:
    February 2nd, 2008 at 2:52 pm

And yet, no backwords compatibility. Hmm.

  4. Fatman,
Download speeds on PSN are much faster than Live! You might want to try upgrading your internet access speed.

The only “retarded” thing is having a 150MB download size limit for Arcade games.

  5. You play one SF2 game, you then played them all in my opinion.

  6. And who cares when there’s REZ HD anyway?

  7. Sorry for three in a row, but this article should apply to this site quite well
    http://www.sonydefenseforce.com/?p=286

    Ummmmmmmmmmm…. isn’t SF2 a game from over 10 years ago?

  8. Peter,
Stop the fanboism yu retarded .
Adn wut the fu** with this site it keeps praising the PS3 as if Sony is paying you to release this Lies .! And Dumb ppl who believe anythin’ comin’ out from this site

  9. Peter Less just compared the super old arcade street fighter, (the one you would find in 10 year old bars and shit) to the 360 AND Ps3 version 1080p version…

    retard.

  10. CP0,

Sorry to inform you the Xbox 360 version won’t be 1080P native. It also will have downgraded sound to fit inside the small XBL limit. The developers have requested MS let the game go over the limit and were rejected.

No need to worry! Just buy the superior Playstation 3 version. :)

PSN leads the way when it comes to fully featured Arcade and downloadable titles.

  11. Peter Leess, your a retard.

  12. @Peckerless

Who cares about SF2 in HD. It’s the same damn game from over 10 years ago. Maybe if it was SF3 3rd Strike it would be a different story, but its still just SF2 with sharper and prettier graphics. I’m waiting for SF4 personally.

  13. Ok you guys are not getting the point. ITs simple the PS3 make the HD look better them the 360. and some people ask why Street Figther in HD? well the game was old when i was 10 so if the game don’t improve?. After playing games like Uncharted, Gears of war etc etc. on one is going to buy it.

  14. And since I’m in Japan, I don’t give a shit because I’m playing Brawl already before you faggots!

  15. Do you guys even see any different when you all are going to play this game on your granmothers old 14″ analog TV?

  16. I want a link saying that they’re gonna downgrade it SDF, it’s time to put up or shut up, and you guys NEVER put up.
They’ve put up a game that was bigger then the size limit before. MS does make exceptions, SOTN anyone?
My SHIT is smarter then SDF and it’s writers.

  17. I don’t see the point of limiting the download size for arcade anyway, when demos can weigh in above 1 gigabyte and still download in a reasonable amount of time. It’s not like XboxLIVE can’t handle large file transfers.

It is kind of funny, though.

“Look! We can display old arcade classics from the ’90s in 1080p!”

  18. I think they limit downloads for xbla so they can fit on a memory card. Also, I think the limit was at least 512mb last I checked.

  19. Xbox users keeps paying a shitty service, nothing new.

The difference between 720p and 1080p is high, get a Full Hd TV with 1080p, and then compare.

PSN is better than “Live!” since PS3 exists.

Win. (dont need to reply xboxers, I just won.)

  20. Amazing how a $400 X3DO is unable to run a ’10 year old’ 2D fighter in full HD.

    Simply amazing,

  21. @mOdus

It’s also amazing that the PS3 version of Half-Life 2 runs like crap. Even though that game is not even 4 years old. So whats worse; a SF2 game in HD that’s getting limited by file size limits that can easily be dropped or a game with a 4 year old graphics engine running like crap (including longer load times than the 360 version).

  22. Clearly not being able to run a 10 year 2D fighter is worse unless you’re an XBot.

  23. @mOdus

No where in the article did it say it couldn’t run idiot. You clearly can’t comprehend the article. In the article it states “It also makes it difficult or impossible to include all the original game’s music AND all remixed set of music. We’re still doing our best to fit within the limit we’ve been given.” now he’s not saying it can’t be done it’s just difficult. Hell you should how difficult it is since the PS3 is the cause of the GTA4 delay.

I Won this argument so you anything you say is automatic failure on your part.

  24. @nextgenuser

Define why “PSN is better than “Live!” since PS3 exists” besides it being free. Just because you say doesn’t mean anything, you need to backup your statement.

  25. ColdYellow,

    Why PSN > Live!

    + Free
+ Server hosted games makes the P2P setup Live has look stupid!
+ Faster download speeds and local servers in each region.
+ Fully featured Arcade games, and a nice selection of PSOne classics.
+ Better voice quality in game thanks to the server hosted bandwidth.
+ A Free service that has better uptime than Live has had these last few months!

CordYellow, your damage control has been a sight to behold. Well done.

  26. P-S-of-shit says:

Sorry the limit is 150MB! :)

    Thanks for the laugh.

  27. @Peter leese
    1. you mentioned free twice and I also said, “besides it being free.”
    2. XBLA also has full featured arcade games (also Castlevania SOTN which is awesome no matter what console it’s on) and Xbox originals.
    3. I can hear ppl just fine with my headset and no problems with it so far.
    4. “Live has look stupid!” what does that mean?
    5. I agree with the server hosted games which is a plus no matter what, but that hardly makes the service better. More functionality is whats needed with PSN. I have no doubt that sony can make it happen it’s just that they need to hurry it up.

  29. 1. That is a major plus.
    2. XBLA has a few full featured games, but you know very well PSN has a much larger library of games that come in at 300MB plus! About time MS allowed Live Arcade games that were more than 500MB.
    3. That is good for you but just search google for how many people have headset problems on Live. Also, voice quality is better on PSN, which is a plus in my books.
    4. The P2P code almost all Live games use for multi-player is “stupid” considering users are paying MS just so they can host their own games that are prone to lag. About time MS started rolling out server hosted games for Live Gold members.
    5. Sony no doubt is working on adding more and more functionality to PSN. But, once it is added the big question is will MS still charge money for Live?

  30. animekid3515 Says:
    February 3rd, 2008 at 10:49 pm

    eh, live is better.
but I don’t pay for it. EVER, on the grounds that it is identical to steam….

only difference is, one is free, the other isn’t.

  31. Why PSN > Live!

+ Free (You get what you pay for!)
+ Server hosted games makes the P2P setup Live has look stupid! (Name five)
+ Faster download speeds and local servers in each region.(D/L Speeds depend on your ISP you retard!)
+ Fully featured Arcade games, and a nice selection of PSOne classics. (360 has downloadable Xbox games, and HD programming.)
+ Better voice quality in game thanks to the server hosted bandwidth. (Proof please!)
+ A Free service that has better uptime than Live has had these last few months! (That’s because more people use Live. So many NEW users. More new users then PSN has.)

    @six1s:
you didn’t even read my post did you?
fuck that money for steam on a console.

  33. @Peter Leese

I don’t see how a larger file size can make a game “better”. I just downloaded REZ HD (which was a PS2 and DC game) and that was under 150mb. The limit should be upped though to give dev’s more leg room though.
That “stupid” look does work though. It’s really quite nice knowing what ppl or on and what they are playing if you decide to join them. Also it’s nice to send a invite across different games, and chat with them as well.
I agree that Live should use server hosted games for gold members and P2P for silver users. At least gives more reasons to pay for the service and gives everyone a chance to play to pay.

  34. Hmmm I kinda like the P2P set up of live… Stops games getting switched off if the games producer deems it’s time to move on…

Lets take a hypothetical look at a server based Game… Warhawk

Just imagine Sony killing the servers and not having a warhawk 2 to replace it, how many PS3 owners would be up in arms as they couldn’t play the title?

M$ solution has faults, and is overpriced for what they offer but at least apart from EA games you can go back and play original xbox titles online still, a round of links a blast of halo 2, some rainbow six : blackarrow maybe?

Both networks have their faults and positives it’s both sides like to over look their network of choices problems and see the positives as making their choise “better”.

    Fanbois gotta love ‘em

    SDF FTW

  35. animekid3515 Says:
    February 4th, 2008 at 6:36 am

cmon SDF where’s your ramblings of “ps3 sells more then 3shitty this year!”
    something along those lines.

  36. Besides ps3tards have NO room to bitch about paying extra for ANYTHING!

  37. OMG! Street Fighter on PS3 Network! I would care if I didn’t see that game on EVERY Neo-Geo machine in the back of EVERY laundromat and mom-&-pop pizza place!

That game was old 15 years ago. I’m always up for retro and old school, but we never got a break from this one. Games we haven’t seen in 20 years, that’s great, but SF never left, regardless of how tired we are of it.

  38. I Wiip for Sony Says:
    February 4th, 2008 at 10:41 am

I wonder when Apple’s gonna release their own console.

  39. @oceancalm

I agree with your post. If both MS and Sony look at what the other is doing great at, and apply that to there own then we as gamers win in the end.

  40. @Peter Leese

    Do you own a 360?

  41. The ONLY reason PSN is for FREE, is because compared to LIVE it’s shit. No way would anyone pay for PSN in it’s current form. Hardly any demo’s, movies, anything. It’s just a side thought at the moment and nothing more.

When Sony do get thier act together and start to roll out PSN to rival LIVE, you got to either be stupid or neive to think that Sony will keep it free.

Remember Sony are not your friends (in fact they dispise the west and block import sales to the ‘devils’) and owe you nothing, yet you keep sucking thier cocks like they love you. You PS#bots remind me of a battered house wife.

  42. Lets not forget that these consoles are primarily about gaming, and the only console with the 7 game attachment rate as well as the highest average review score is the XBOX 360.(Out of the top 5 console games of the year, 3 were only available on the 360…. Halo 3, Bioshock and Mass Effect (Really I should throw The Orange Box on this list as well since the EA Port was barely playable on the PS3.) The PS3 and the Wii dont even come close to the caliber or quality of games the 360 has… It’s not about graphics, its about gameplay. The Wii proved that and the 360 has perfected it.

  43. PSN is way better than Live….. you must be a fucking retarded or you never tried both.

  44. yea my friend has a ps3 and had some fun with it but he said he didn’t like the online i hink he said it was laggy don’t quote me on this but his biggest complaint was no voice chat which is part of the reason i enjoy live so much but i do like the sony idea of free but 5$ a month isn’t that bad and for the crappy service over the holiday i got a free arcade game FREE think about how much money there losing doin that since each game costs 10bucks each

  45. Hmmm…. I think that Microsoft have stopped looking at what us gamers want and have decided to just do what will beat Sony, they seem to have forgotten about us in that respect

  46. @UNSC

You just successfully argued yourself into a black hole.

If you figure out how, you can reveal your conclusions to the audience here.

Otherwise, you should just keep to yourself…

    radnom frag:
“lag” in a game, has nothing to do with the online service, once yu connect to a game room, that’s it, XBL and PSN are irrelevant at that point.
the bad thing, is the download servers, and the integration, and that’s about it.
voice chat is available, it’s just that a lot of ps3 owners can’t be fucked using a simple headset so, it’s barely used, apart from warhawk.
yes, a free game, of their choosing, with (under my knowledge) no alternative for pre-owners of undertow.

    @mmikej

wtf are you talking about? of course you cant throw the orange box in- you obviously haven’t played it on the ps3 and are just copying and pasting words from ps3 haters- faggot

barely playable? so you get some slowdown every 30 minutes- how is that barely playable fucktard

cry on 360 suckers, that XBLA limit is going to be a pain in the ass when it comes to good games and dont bet that M$ will solve it- they never do what the customers want them to

PSN= free, no limits, home and dedicated servers

  51. @sosolidsnake

Oh thats right. All the reviews of The Orange Box for the PS3 were awesome! I’ve read several reviews and not only do they all agree its inferior to the 360 version, but the words “barely playable” were mentioned in everyone. Horrible load times, glitchy gameplay. Maybe its because Valve admits that the PS3 is a piece of junk, hence why they let EA handle the port. Do some research for you pretend to know what your talking about.

And speaking of research, did you actually say that the PSN has no limits? Is that why DLC for games like Rock Band arrive days earlier on the 360. Is that why GTA4 has exclsuive DLC for the 360 and not the PSN? Is that why you cant even find your friends to invite them to a game because the interface looks/feels like it was designed by a 12 year old retarded japanese kid?

And I know your not bragging about HOME. Which is the gayest rippoff of Second Life out there, and the fact that it hasnt even launched yet and that your already bragging about it leads me to believe your a bigger idiot than I thought. Its uneducated people like you that give Sony gamers a bad name.

Hmm I know this post has nothing to do with GTAIV but guess what 360 is going to be better then PS3′s versions.

  53. HOME is something that baffels me; you walk around and buy shit, talk to random a-holes, invite random a-hole(s) to your Home, talk some more, play some pool (and pocket pool with others if your into that), maybe play a arcade game, and then finally decide to play COD4.
To me that just sounds like a waste of time, just like The Sims and Second Life.

  54. ^^ You could just have put COD4 in and talk to random assholes and didn’t have to buy another version of Second Life

  55. well,360 sucks,PS3 sucks,Wii sucks
neither got enough ram to actually use the hardware decently
    Wii needs like 256 mb,and PS3/360 needs 1 gb

  56. To further bakc up my previous statement about how much PSN sucks compared to Xbox Live.

2 Demoms showed up on PSN today. Conflict Denied Ops (1 week late) and Turok (3 weeks late)

Why are they so late? Must be because PSN is sooo great and limitless… lol

    http://kotaku.com/354115/pal-playstation-store-updates-continue-to-underwhelm

  57. @mmikej24

yes to “bakc” up your statement you talk about “demoms”

whats funny is that you called me uneducated

  58. @sosolidsnake

So you run out of ammo and make fun of my typing skills? lol You know most ADULTS would just admit they were wrong at this point right?

BTW, they pulled the Lost Planet demo “demoms” off the PSN network because it was apparently not functional. You were soooo right about how great the PSN is….

But now that I’ve proved my point, we can talk about my typing skills again if you want.

  59. @mmikej24

you could also tack on this; well I don’t see PSN having ever won a Emmy unlike how XBL has.

  60. VIVA LA BILL GATES!

  61. Not to pee in anyones cereal, but this whole thread is BS. Not once has anyone developing this game said its better on the PSN, the fact is that yes they might be having issues due to the limit, but the smart money is that they worked the game as a whole for both consoles to work within that 150MB limit.

  62. I’ve spent over ten years playing SFII and I can tell you that the graphics they showed for 360 are from the original. These people are using false “facts” that they just think up in their head, the 360 version will look great. Also if you say PSN>XBL, you are retarded. Sure, its free, but so is Nintendo WFC, which uses 12-digit friend codes for each different game. Most of you that bash on XBL probably haven’t experienced it, just heard about it. I haven’t experienced PSN, I admit it, but all of my friends get their multiplatform games on 360 because they said they wanted to play with their friends. If you say that it’s because there’s more people on it, then that’s the point of online gaming TO ACTUALLY PLAY WITH PEOPLE.
