Off topic, I went to a Best Buy and Circuit City in my area looking for a 360 Elite (my second, for my son), and I couldn’t find one. But, if I wanted a POS3 (which I don’t, even if it was for free, which I would sell on ebay), there were about 40 sitting on the floor at Best Buy and 28 at CC. I asked the guy at BB why they were on the floor (which is unusual) and he said they have been there for months! They just don’t sell, and the ones we do sell are people looking for blu-ray players!
That right there is the POS3′s testament for this generation of consoles: it’s not a console, it’s a blu-ray player! So sad!
Well, off to find this generations best console, anyone know where I can get a 360 Elite in eastern MA???? Anyone?

Yes, it is a sequel, but I would not define it as a rehash. If a rehash is a sequel with the same basic gameplay, then heck, nearly all sequals are rehashes. Just take an FPS sequel for example. Again, your shooting, and shooting enemies. Brawl has added online and cooperative play, custom stages, and has created an actual “campaign” mode. Not to mention, half a billion other extra little things. As for the multiplayer, many new modes options are available to shake things up.

but sequels these days just add a couple of modes and cars and tracks into the mix that could have easily been released bit by bit as DLC but instead charge full game price for it.
I think its unfair to say that every sequel should have a completely different gameplay style. I think a sequel should further the story of a game. Something that completely changes the gameplay shouldn’t be considered a sequel, but a different game of the same franchise. Although I do agree that DLC should be implemented more in games.

Yes, sequels are pretty much the originals underneath, even the almighty GTAIV will be similar to GTAIII. However, they want more of the same, but better quality and quantity. What’s the point of the sequel if it’s just pretty much another game entirely? It’s like if they made the sequel to Alien, No Alien, as opposed to Aliens.

not entirely, making a completely new IP is not rehashing, it may be cloning another game, but not rehashing, rehashing is releasing sequel after sequel without adding anything worthwhile, a second game with the same gameplay as the first I’m not too bothered about, but once you get to the third, you should add something that keeps the game fresh and isn’t just like playing the same game but with better graphics (gran turismo as an example)

If I want to play a good adventure game I will buy a Zelda game for my Wii. A good FPS, then the 360 is the way to go on that. wooo, finally bught myself a Wii today, so now i got the 360 and Wii, time to save Hyrule.
Actually, I would like to see Sony appologize for what they did. Actually admit they screwed up. From the very beginning, though, their attitude was “We meant to do that. It’s all part of our plan.” Even when they change their direction.
They said that gamers were confused with too many different system formats, so they discontinued the 20Gig PS3.
Then they released the 80 & 40gigs.
They laughed at the Wii’s motion capture.
Then they added sixaxis.
They’ve offered gamers promises of awesome tech support.
They didn’t even cover the PS3 with warrenty.
They’ve been sued, not once, but twice, for false advertising (successfully, I might add). If Sony would just say, “Okay, we fucked up. We’re sorry. We’ll fix it,” I’d be more than willing to grant them a pardon.
Is the PS3 a bad system? Not now it isn’t, but there’s little need for it anymore. Aside from a couple of great 1rst party titles, everything and more can be found on the 360 and/or Wii.
Sony’s arrogance has been mistaken for talent, when it was not by their hand, but Nintendo’s mistakes that put them in this market in the first place. And their short-sidedness will soon expel them.

The Wii certainly is more powerful than most people give it credit for, but I don’t know where you got your screenshots from. The Mariokart looks fine from what I’ve seen. I have a 2006 360 that has seen VERY heavy use (over 5 days in CoD4 alone) and has never once overheated, given me a disk error, or RRoDed. I think that if you just keep your 360 in the correct conditions, it will be just fine.

well, if consoles were cars, this is how I’d see them:
PS3 = BIG and powerful American jeep like thing (I’ve no idea about names)
It’s big. It tries to be pretty but it does that all wrong and you only look at it because you want to know what the designer was getting at. It has about a billion and 1 features that only 1% of get any use and if you took it away from it’s native, practially cornerless roads of the States and dumped it somewhere in the middle of France, the driver would be shitting himself, unsure of wheather it’ll go around a corner or not without plummeting off that cliff. Fun for a cruise on the interstate with the music wanked up, but hardly the most practical of machines thanks to that engine that guzzles fuel like no tomorrow.
Xbox 360 = European sports car (Ferrari, lets say)
It’s curvy and nicely designed like every other sports car on the road so it hardly stands out that much. It’s not the most reliable of machines, but bloody hell does it go! Wheather it’s on a straight piece of road or a twisty back road, you’d have the time of your life zipping around. Something may go wrong with it, maybe a bit more then most cars, but you’d still be dying from the wait to get it back so you can jump in and put your foot down.
Wii = small sports car (say a Lotus)
Small, simple, reliable and cheap (for a sports car) with a fair bit of grunt, although not the same as the yank mobile and the italian stallion. Where it lacks in raw house power, however, it makes up for it with’s near perfect handling. This car is ALL about fun. No dicking about with all those comfort extras like poncy automatic gears and electric seats.

Ive just completed Crisis Core, and it’s by far the best game on the PSP.
BTW, the PS3 tech demo off FF7, is infact the very last segment of the Crisis Core ending, so i think all you POS3 fanboy’s were fooled.
Shame theres no POS3 game that is a must play like a title of Crisis Core’s calibur. Plenty on the 360, but none of the POS3

360up is not conceding defeat at all he’s pointing out that even the SONY PS2 had DRE problems. Also last year the PS2 constantly sold MORE than the PS3 (and i believe it still outsells it every month to this day).

The only time I ever had a DRE on my 360 is when I bought a USED copy of Prey and the bottom of the disc had more scratches than my back after my wife and I go at it.

If I own all three consoles, then I do REALLY own a PS3, and having played seriously on all three, I can quite easily see the PS3 is lacking in comparison to 360 and Wii. Even as a movie player, it’s not that outstanding, as it doesn’t upscale DVDs as well as 360 (Blu-Rays are a waste of time) and the PS3′s whining fans are far more irritating then the sound of the 360.
Can we all agree on two things at least: Pussy is fantastic and GTA4 is going to be the shit on either platform.

Considering all the POS3 fanboys seem to think the Bluray player is the holy grail of the POS3, and is the best thing since sliced bread because of it. It’s not a very good thing for it to be poorer than real Bluray players. Seems that not only is the POS3 rubbish for games, but rubbish for films too. So theres nothing that makes the POS3 stand out. Xbox 360 or Wii for gaming, or buy a real Bluray player for films. Why bother with a POS3?

But at $400 you can get more fuctionality than a stand alone blu-ray player. Having shit for games I would disagree; it has COD4, R6V1 & 2, RFOM, Uncharted, Orange Box and Skate. Sure you can get half those games for the 360 but hardly those aren’t nothing to ignore either. If I had $400 I would still buy one, because what one website said about the video playback doesn’t bother me.

No I do not own a PS3 but I do want one. With that being said I don’t give MS or Nintendo any more slack than Sony. When MS fucks up I realize it and applaud them when they do good and the same for Nintendo. Personally I believe the PS3 is a great console with a solid lineup coming up but Sony fucked up last year as well with it and this year it looks like they might be back on track.
Even if I owned a PS3 at this moment no way in hell i would get rid of my 360 (hard work and emotional pain paid for that) and Wii (christmas gift). I like videogames too much, hell I still got all my consoles and the SNES is still my fav.

I figure there will 8-15 songs perstation so roughly with commercials I would say anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour untill it loops (or it could be completely random in song and DJ time).

I don’t know if anyone cares but Dark Sector is a pretty solid game. It has a few problems (length and the controls are kinda touchy) but overall a pretty good first entry into a new IP. A sequal would be well deserved for Dark Sector.

Using the glaives aftertouch is such a blast. I didn’t buy the uzi though and I’m also running out of ammo since it’s getting kinda scarce in the latter levels. Those so called “relics” are part of our shared gaming history and quite frankly alot of those games are FAR more replayable then what’s coming out today. Actually you should be praising Nintendo for fucking over Sony 13-15 years ago, since nintendo is responsible for the Playstation brand.
Now speaking of your “relic” skills at Uncharted I would say that you should know (or have an idea what to expect).
If you want a challenge then beat DMC3 at “Dante Must Die” and “Heaven and Hell” modes. I had to buy another PS2 controller after that I was through with that game (but it was worth every moment of that game).

The SNES and NES are relics, if you knew ANTHING about gaming, which clearly you dont, you would know that the NES and SNES we massive figures in the world of gaming. Even today ALOT of people still regard the SNES as the best console ever.

Totally the SNES for me is still THE BEST there was and still is to me. Hell I still got my SNES and still works to this day and gets played quite frequently even among the 360′s, Wii’s, and PS3′s of the world. Hell even Square games where (and are) still 10 times better on the SNES than anything after FF7 was released.

I will show my opinion:
I enjoy FPS games. A lot. For me, Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 are good games. I enjoy racing games, which is why I love Test Drive Unlimited and I’m waiting for Midnight Club IV. I also enjoy American RPGs, which is why I love Mass Effect. I enjoy rhythm games, so I have GHII and Rock Band. I have 0 need for a Blu-ray player (BitTorrent for the win, baby!) so that doesn’t sell a PS3 for me. I game online a lot, and all my friends have 360s, so I use Xbox Live. X-Mas ’06, when I wanted to replace my Xbox 1, my parents said, “No way are we spending $600 for a game system. Xbox 360 it is.”
I am happy with my Xbox 360, but I know others like their PS3s or Wiis more. Good for you. If I was a movie buff, I would definitely purchase a PS3 out of my pocket. However, for my gaming tastes, the 360 has better exclusives and features. I like the way you can run Linux on PS3, I like the motion control and non-gaming features of the Wii, and I like the upgradeability of the PS3.

The Xbox 360 is better than all other systems combined. If you are a PS3 or Wii owner, you suck until you get a 360. PS3 and Wii have no redeeming features at all and are nothing near as good as a 360.

You can’t argue that the Guitar Hero series has bought rhythem games from a niche fanbase to mainstream to casual gamers. Also due to it’s success maybe more ppl will take another look at beatmania or guitar freaks and try them out unlike how they didn’t before.

guitar 1 and 2 were pretty awesome, I prefer those over guitar freaks (but guitar freaks only) but guitar hero 3 is a mindless wankery fest and rock band is an easy 99%-for-every-song-first-time game.
and considering there’s nothing that makes the drums on rock band any better than drummania ASC’s (they’re a goddamn downgrade… and the bass pedal is shit) there’s no real reason to like it more than GFDM unless you’re a graphics whore.

I agree that GH3 is nowhere as good as the first 2. In defense of Rock Band it is easier for a casual crowd to get into but has the challenge of bumping up the difficulty for the seasoned player. I did like both GF and DM (there awesome in there own rights) but i also enjoy hanging out with 3 other of my friends and playing Rock Band and drinking Newcastle into the wee hours of the night.

(had to import it for my ps3, I aint waiting 5 years to play it, also meant I had to set up a “virtual” american credit card that reroutes money from my bank account into an american credit account to get the DLC, I play all of them, but I always find myself playing the bemani one’s more…
but a lot of my friends don’t like it when I keep my pop n musics locked away the whole party…

remember tamagochi? it sucked, and so does the wii. as a gamer u have to admit that the wii has by far the less interesting library of games. let the casuals have their mini games and shovel ware. i will enjoy GTA, MGS4, gears of war 2, and god of war 3. what does the wii have? mario kart? oh yes i remeber that game, i beat it years ago on the n64! will wii get RE5? no in fact the only thing the wii has to look forward to is a brand new zelda, that is if its not another remake. so let me rephrase the question, do actual gamers care about the wii anymore? according to game sales they do not.

According to game sales, yes a tremendous amount of people care about the Wii. And again according to sales a comparatively low amount of people care about the PS3.
You all call yourself gamers (ps3 owners do not apply, it’s a bluray player, not a games console).
For the hardcore gamers that has played games for years tend too buy a 360 for thier gaming fix.
People who arent into games in thae way hardcore gamers like games, opt for the wii. The wii is not or ever will be a machine for a hardcore gamer, it’s a family orientated machine. Could u seriously expect to see a 6yr old kid called tommy on gears, or having fun playing Wii Sports with his dad?
Nintendo arent intrested in the hardcore gaming side of things becuase the Xbox has sown that up already. The are looking at the people who dont normally play games often and release games the whole family can have fun playing, not all sitting around watching the tv while some fuckward is saying “look at me mum, im killing a locust on gears, im cool”. Hence the reason that the Wii has sold more consoles than the PS3 & 360 combined, and will continue to do so for a long while too.
You bash this and that, when in reality you aint really got a fucking clue to be honest. What it all boils down to is that fact that the Xbox is the new PS2 of this generation and got all the games a proper gamer could need, a wii is for the family who dont want to play graphic hardcore games, and the PS3 seriously aint got a clue what it wants to be, does it want to be a cheap bluray movie player or a console?

I think it’s pretty shitty of you to call out PS3 ain’t a videogame console. Sure Sony has marketed it as more of a blu-ray player but I think they realized that was a mistake and now there working to fix that.
Too me a “hardcore” gamer is someone who doesn’t care if a game(s) come out for a specific console but will he/she be able to play it eventually. I will give a example: I got a Wii and a 360 but I definitly want a PS3 this year (but no later this time next year) and god willing that I make bonus at work again this year.
Still I think it’s too early to call “the 360 the new PS2″ for this console cycle but at this moment the 360 is the way to go for games right now.

Dont get me wrong, i personally dont care what company make what console. I dont earn any money from any company, so all consoles are all the same to me.
Im not fond of the PS3 because Sony are clearly neglecting it. Like for example, the PSN Store, the potential in that is awesome. Sony own movie studios, music, and got a MASSIVE back catalog of awesome PS1 and PS2 games, all of which would be perfect for the PSN store. Yet it’s treated as a afterthought compared to LIVE.
Online, although it’s free, it’s normally buggy as hell, and apart from COD4 and Resistance, tehres not much else to play on it.
Games, hardly any worthy games out, even after all this time. GT5 prologue is being panned, MGS4 is gonna be awesome, and not much else. All the top games out at the moment are also on the 360, and the 360 version are also far superior in terms of frame rates, graphics, DLC etc.. Yet it’s the PS3 that’s meant to be the powerhouse.
Bluray, although it’s a great feature to have, it’s now known that compared to stand alone Bluray players, the PS3 one isnt up to standard. You now have Bluray 2.0 which gives you web access on the film, yet so did HD DVD.
Sony are stuck between a rock and a hard place, and tbh, they seem as though thier previous success is thier downfall. The 360 is catering for the real gamer and is progressing with new ideas with LIVE, and the wii is aimed at the family. So where does that leave Sony? In the middle not sure what step to take. Hence the Bluray movie marketing, when really all people want fromt he PS3 is awesome games like the PS2.

excitetruck- LMFAO! i already played better racers like twisted metal, burnout, etc. so i fail to see whats so awesome about excite truck.

zelda TP- i beat this on the gamecube years ago but i still bought it. great game, new control scheme was excellent.
re4- same deal except i never got a chance to play assignment ada so all in all it was well worth it.
super mario galaxy- as its stands, mario 64 was better. i was dissapointed.
super smash brothers brawl- i like melee better. nice touch on allowing classic and gamecube controllers to be used, but complete lack of motion sensing. this is ironic because its the best game on the wii yet it uses no motion sensing capabilities whatsoever defeating the purpose of the very same console i purchased.
there u have it. all the games worth owing on the wii and sadly 2 of those games were on the gamecube.
games that would change my perspective on nintendo and make me eat my words.
phantasy star chronicles- whether it be a remake of the original or a sequel it would definitely be a great rpg to add to the wii.
contra- seriously why can’t konami make a contra game on nintendo in 2D glory (like contra 3 and 4) and ditch the craptacular ones that plagued the ps2?
a decent fps- with the wii motes motion sensing u would think they could make a decent fps, but i digress.
get more third party support- if your system gets a little more third party support we can see developers get really creative.
improve your games- i find it unacceptable that despite the wii being more powerful than the gamecube the games that come out on it look horrendous on my HDTV. the best game graphically on the wii is re4 and that was on the gamecube!
abolish wii friend codes- serioulsy when was playing with your friends such an inconvenience until the wii showed up?

Zack & Wiki -is a fun puzzle game using the wiimote (some of the motion gestures are questionable though)
Geometry Wars Galaxies- is simple fun even though it was a XBL game but still fun trying to beat your own personal best.
Okami- was a kickass PS2 game which i can’t wait to get on the wii (my ps2 died before i beat it)
The Midway Pinball Collection -is fun and cheap and u use the Nunchuck and WiiMote to play and shake them to bump the table
No More Heroes is cool and that’s all i have to about that.

Every game back in the SNES days had a seal of quality even if it was crap (Shaq Fu comes to mind even though it was horrible it had a certain craptacular appeal about it).
When you look at a Wii game Nintendo seems to do it right but it’s the 3rd party devs/pubs that are trying to cash in and not take the time and effort to make something good. Capcom and Ubisoft seem hell bent on trying to make the Wii something special but it’s so hard to shovel through the shit to get to the gold though. Maybe more time is required or maybe the Big N needs to set some standards and not allow crap like Ninja Breadman be allowed or published on there console untill its at least half way decent.
Also what pisses me off is all the PS2 straight up ports that just add waggle controls and nothing else to take advantage of the hardware and controller(s).
Trauma Center is an excellent game. I’ve not gotten a chance to play New Blood yet through.
And as far as Spooky bringing up Metal Gear on the PS3, I beat that YEARS ago, on the NES.
Carnival Games, and Wii Sports on the Wii are top party games too. If like me you have friends, then they can be top fun, which is what gaming should be all about.

yeah i also beat metal gear years ago on the nes. but metal gear solid is a different set of games, each with its own unique story that contributes equally to the main storyline. MGS4 will provide closure to the solid snake saga. while mario kart wii is roughly the same game as the one on the n64 (don’t get me wrong it will be fun) but its just a remake with a few extra powerups. there is no story, it just mindless fun. which is not bad, but it is a little dissapointing that nintendo hasn’t made a new IP to try to keep things fresh. i will still pick it up though.

Mario Kart Wii does look like a ton of fun but I just can’t understand why Nintendo would even think of releasing it 2 days out from GTA4. I know that the GTA franchise ain’t for everyone but it will probably be overshadowed by the hype of GTA4.
