Killzone 2: Playstation Day Demo Exceeds E3 2005 Target Trailer; Biased Media Outlets Damage Control
UK, May 6, 2008 – Thanks to the gracious efforts at SCEE, Sony Defense Force was lucky enough to witness hands-on demonstration of the highly anticipated Killzone 2 at this year’s Playstation Day in London. If you recall, Killzone 2 stunned the world with its breathtaking trailer released nearly three years ago at E3 2005. We can now safely confirm that Killzone 2 has indeed exceeded the target trailer that Sony promised us years ago by leaps and bounds.

When we first had the pleasure of witnessing the demo we were astounded at how not-so-subtle the beauty of this game was. Unlike Halo 3, which boasts of “Candy Land” graphics coated in a plastic paint job that only people with more, err, subtle (or moneyhatted) tastes can appreciate, Killzone 2′s incredible visual and atmospheric graphics instantly impress on such a grand scale that we’ve yet to see it rivaled by any other game of its kind (even on the Playstation 3). Indeed, the muted color scheme of the city landscape contrasted with the vibrant ambush of exploding artillery amidst a beautiful vanilla sky only provides for a much more enriching and dynamic cinematic experience.

The Playstation Day demo begins similarly to the E3 2007 trailer by showcasing a wonderfully produced cinematic of vehicle transports that are shot down over the coast of Corinth River of the Helghan planet. As in the previous demo, the title transitions seamlessly from gameplay to cutscene and provides for an impressively immersive experience. From here, the player will traverse a war ravaged cityscape with the same infamous bridge witnessed in the E3 2005 trailer. Here, the bridge is completely destructible, and the explosive cinematics that ensue are some of the most jaw-dropping visuals that we thought were only possible on the Playstation 4. Unlike Microsoft, Sony exceeds their target renders rather than downgrading (which was witnessed in Halo 3). And in the era of bullshots and deliberate media deception, this is certainly a warm welcome to the industry that we are proud that Sony is able to uphold. Looking at a couple of in-game shots they chose to release (which are absolutely gorgeous), it’s easy to see why this game is taking so long to develop and that the game has been pushed back. It’s looking very polished and solid at this state, and doesn’t have a rough spot in site. This level of detail must be quite time consuming on the development process. Indeed, some of these shots aren’t only exceeding their target render, they look more like a PS4 game than a PS3 game.

Luckily, Killzone 2 is not simply a graphical tour de force; yes, the graphics look incredible and absolutely exceeded our expectations, but it was the incredibly immersive gameplay that caught our attention. Guerilla Games has gone a long ways towards rectifying their image amongst gamers after the sleeper hit Killzone 1 on the PS2 managed to disappoint. The level design is some of the most inspired we’ve ever seen from a first person shooter, with crates and walls that pose as usable areas for the first ever gameplay mechanic seen in a first person shooter — Cover. The cover system is brilliantly and intuitively implemented and provides for a completely new added layer of gameplay dynamics.

Killzone 2 also offers a great deal of chatter throughout the theatre of war setting. We laughed at numerous occasions when NPCs would respond with phrases such as “I feel like a spare prick at a gang bang”. It’s a gritty element of humor that only the most heterosexual of gamers could appreciate. While Little Big Planet and Resistance 2 deliver an amazing experience overall at the Playstation Day, we were very pleased to see Killzone 2 do far more than we could have ever expected of it. This is a title, afterall, that is truly innovative with its advanced cover mechanics that other lesser titles — such as Gears of War and Halo 3 — have gotten a free pass from by the media despite having gameplay that was decidedly unrevolutionary and thoroughly disappointing graphically.

And while we are thoroughly impressed with Killzone 2 so far, the same cannot be said for the current articles that are floating around biased, Microsoft-sponsored sites such as Kotaku and IGN. The unprofessional, unemployed, and illiterate folks that write for these geocities-grade websites are the same ones that have, in the past, given countless and uncritical praise of titles such as Gears of War, Halo 3, and Grand Theft Auto 4 yet have been unfairly critical of Killzone 2. We can all assume for various reasons why this is the case; however, Hilary Goldstein has made it abundantly clear that IGN receives a brief window of review exclusivity based upon how much content they can spam on their front pages of a certain title. I wonder how much ‘pressure’ Hilary was under in order to give Grand Theft Auto 4 a perfect 10 in graphics and overall. This is yet another scandal within videogame journalism that severely undermines the credibility of these supposedly “unbiased” websites. Just a few months ago, GameSpot fired Jeff Gerstmann for making accurate statements about a title that was prominently advertised on their website. As for Luke Plunkett of Kotaku, I’m not aware that he’s even graduated high school yet. The same could be said of all the staff writers at Kotaku since no one takes that site seriously. Sony Defense Force is happy to be a beacon of unbiased journalism that strives for an advertisement-free experience. We are not paid off by publishing partners or pressured in any way for the views expressed on this site. We are happy to have a readership that appreciates our level of honesty when so many websites manage to disappoint.

I’m not gonna lie, this game is damn pretty. But like everything else, I’m reserving judgment until it’s available on store shelves.
Graphics never bet out gameplay. That was the problem with KZ 1; it looked better than halo 2 but was just flatout boring.
@smoke
I agree with you.
@Hans
Do you even know what graphic style is? Every game has there own look to it. So just shut up since you don’t know shit about this medium at all.
@ smoke…
Don’t believe the hype.
It’s a sony game. The trailer was probably touched up like they do with almost all their games…
Oh yeah… MGS graphics have apparently DECREASED during the development so take that as a clue!
I agree though, from that, they look pretty but it wont look like that
ALSO…
a couple of those shots are renders SDF…..
enviroments are shit, gun model is great, character models are good, lighting is nice,
no way in hell all those shitty textures exceed this:
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e229/hichala171/killzone-2-3.jpg
SDF calling other sites biased? That isn’t even the pot calling the kettle black. Its more like the pot calling the orange black.
Furthermore many people take Kotaku seriously. Nearly no one takes SDF seriously. Live with it fanboys.
I agree this game looks beautiful from the trailers.
but the game’s practically in greyscale.
@ animekid
SO TRUE.
Pretty doesn’t always mean good.
Example:

She’s kinda cute, right?
Except that’s a dude.
That game looks horrible, I think i’ll stick to my Pokemon, better then anything on the PSFail.
I love playing monochrome games…. NOT! POS3 for the fail! Oh yeah, where are the phony fantards yelling at Sony for a game that’s not even hi-def (MGS4, GTA4 and this crappy game)? What, the POS3 can’t do 720P? Oh how the not-so-mighty have fallen even more. The 360 can run GTA4 in 720p, guess that last gen graphics chip in the POS3 is showing it’s true colors, or lack thereof! Hey nextgentard, Paula and Fat Hans, where are you? Still cowering in your mother’s basement!? You should be, you all suck!
There’s no proof that any of those are in-game.
And if they are, what’s so great about them?
Compared to the current crop of shooters, they’re nothing special! Sorry SDFail.
While I hope this game is as good as they graphics hype, I think it wont be. I have seen some game play footage ad its no where near the CGI this tard site promotes. I am just curious as to exactly whose dick SDF is sucking to be this loyal, or is it SDF likes it up the ass from narrow minded Japanese programmers?!?
Haha! The haters are in full force, it seems!
Observe how they didn’t even try to defend Halo 2.5 and Gears of War, instead they started sputtering nonsense about Killzone1, Pokemon and playability over graphics. They look like little boys escaped from a nintard site!
There’s even one still in denial saying that some images are renders xDDDD. You should have learnt your lesson in last E3, little boy. Only grief awaits you if you keep walking that path.
Anyway, after a great article about the mighty Killzone and a rightful expose of other sites dirty tactics, the comments can’t be stupid xbot nonsenses. You all should look for another site to troll before people start staring at you with strange looks. Bashing the PS3 is not cool anymore, kids. Reality is setting in and the dreamland created by Microsoft and their shills is coming back to bite you in the ass. Did you hear that the mighty 360 is now in third place in Europe? As well as in Japan (lol)? You little american kids are still in time to trade your RROD self-killing machines for a PS3, before this noisy faulty console goes the way of the HDDVD!
Thumbs up to Hans for a really great article. Outstanding job, I enjoyed it a lot. The hating comments just provide the laugh needed to icing the cake.
“It’s a gritty element of humor that only the most hetrosexual of gamers could appreciate” lol brilliant! xboxers need not apply.
Killzone 2 will have a slight edge over GoW2, in the same way that Virtua Tennis has a slight edge over Pong. But hey, Pong’s got some pretty sweet gameplay goin on.
Killzone 2 invented cover?
Oh SDF. Never change.
xbotkiller,
Actually superior gameplay IS where it’s at.
Using arm to aim gun > Using thumbs.
@ xbotkiller
dude you are soo right on! LOL! “RROD self-killing mechines”BOL!BOL!
@xbotkiller
Graphics help to get a person into the game but it NOT what makes a game “good”. Gameplay always trumps over the other aspects of the game. Now I’m not saying graphics don’t matter but they do in immersing the player along with the audio. Halo 3 doesn’t hold a candle in the graphics department compared to Gear of War or Resistance but it does make up for gameplay (I’m not a big halo guy more of a COD2 & 4 person). The problem with KZ1 is that it looked far better (in my opinion) than Halo2 but it was boring as hell where h2 had the better gameplay.
Now I could argue that Halo3 looks just as anything out there but that’s opening another can of worms and that’s “art style” and not to be confused with graphics.

The xboxers are hilarious.
All of these GIFs are in-game footage from the demo.
Nothing is CG.
I know…this makes xboxers cry…not being able to play the definitive FPS of this generation.
Been playing gta for a week and come back to find 2 new stories SWEET. Why aren’t you all playing it instead of pissing on each other?
@Hans
Sorry but I think the definitive FPS of this console cycle goes to BioShock or (highly debatable) The Orange Box (which is also on the PS3 to show a unbias).
Xbotkiller. Listen up fanboy, I know PS3 has you drooling over their Pixar movies with some gameplay thrown in. But it is an indisputable fact that gameplay wins out over graphics. Every. Damn. Time.
So enjoy your little Pixar movie. Doesn’t really look all that interesting to me.
And lastly, trade in the 360 to buy a P$3? You would have to trade in like five 360′s to be able to afford Sony’s money pit.
Completely irrelevant to the subject, but may I ask what awards SDF has won?
@ ColdYellow
You can’t really say what games define a generation of consoles until the generation is over. There’s no doubt Bioshock is amazing, but it’s always possible for an even more mind-blowing game to come out.
@smOke
You are right since the defining game of this console cycle can’t be determined untill its over. Although BioShock does have a very good potential as being the FPS on this console cycle.
@inverse
also another question is in one of there banners: Award Winning Coverage Since 2006. There archives only go back to 2007.
“All of these GIFs are in-game footage from the demo.
Nothing is CG.”
Got some PROOF?
Didn’t think so, you dirty little Sanchez.

“BioShock does have a very good potential as being the FPS on this console cycle.”
fuck no.
So… acording to SDF this game will look like crap, if you take there word from xbox360 relise of GTAIV hahah…
well, this game is one of the games i want to have on the PS3… mayby i will get one if it lower the price even more.
“Indeed, some of these shots aren’t only exceeding their target render, they look more like a PS4 game than a PS3 game.”
Ah, yes: the PS4, made by Nintendo, after SCEA goes bankrupt and NoA acquires the rights to all Sony IP for the (still overvalued) sum of 35 cents…
“Kanerilis Says:

Isn’t it obvious? – GTA IV is so fucking boring I turned it off after 20 minutes. We’d rather flame each other online. (The PS3tards don’t have much choice, since their online user base consists of about 12 people.)
Video links don’t count.
The devs have lied before about this game.
I want real proof.
The Dutch don’t lie. They had the strength to resist the Nazi scourge and now when faced with an even greater evil they have risen to the challenge incredibly.
As they say in The Netherlands “neuken in da keuken” which roughly translates to “he who fights great tyranny from across the ocean for the glory of all walking animals”.
God bless Guerilla Games and god bless the Dutch people.
six1s – No proof? Dude, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 were playable in London.
Quick Review of Demo:
It has a cover system that is a much needed, new element in FPS.
Looks great, but color palette is bland.
Controlled very smoothly, played like COD4 at times.
Levels were a bit uninspired, due to too many crates – which were obviously placed to use with the cover system.
And come on six1s, the screens, even in the resolution they are in, look awesome. You can deny gameplay and fun factor all you want, but graphically, it’s another story.
There was also this really cool video they had of Little Big Planet, where they dressed up the sackboys as Killzone characters. It’s on the links in the Playstation Blog.
@ Stickemup
“Dude, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 were playable in London.”
So a game that has NEVER been playable was playable and a game where a CG trailer has been released was playable!?!
I don’t think so buddy. And unless you were a member of the press, how the hell would you know!?!
killzone looks awesome in the graphics department but a bland on the color palette. that okay though, i think its more gritty as the world is in a apocalyptic state. i can wait until it is released, no biggie, i still have all these great games to play this year which should keep me busy. its weird however that SDF would admit that the first killzone was a dissapointment.
Stickman, I think you’ve been owned.
And “Kill all Xbots”, what kind of crack are you smoking?
Cover system is new in an FPS?
So youve never played Rainbow 6 Vegas?
@Inverse
They’ve never been awarded anything. Like 90% of what’s posted on this blog; it’s now just common sense to take everything they say as bullshit.
Why is everyone so suprised that Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 are playable? It’s all over the place!
I’m not giving MY impressions of the demo, I’m sorry if it came out that way. I was summarizing what the press has said collectively.
So much hatred…
I read impressions from GamePro on Resistance’s 60-player matches, and even in it’s early build, they were very impressed. I’m too lazy to link it, but anyone interested should go check it out.
I like what they are doing with the multiplayer, sounds very adicting.
If impressions were trust worthy, then how come the reviews are almost always so drastically different?
Do you actually think that the Phailstation 3 can actually handle these graphics? You might as well be trying to play Crysis with an NVIDIA 6600. Seriously, it’s just another sham from Sony involving them over doing their graphics with CGI and bogus rendering that won’t even be in the real game, just like what happened with Killzone 1 which sucked. Not to mention that Metal Gear Solid 4 is looking even more uglier with each new gameplay video. Can Sony ever announce another lame project without propaganda? With each new article you morons post it only gives us another opportunity to say FAIL.
FAIL!
“Guerilla Games has gone a long ways towards rectifying their image amongst gamers after the sleeper hit Killzone 1 on the PS2 managed to disappoint.”
Now theres games out there that are great (Beyond Good and Evil) but had disappointing sales is one thing but to say a game is a “sleeper hit but a managed to be a disappointment” is a contradiction.
@charing my laser – Dude, what don’t you understand about “PLAYABLE”?
Those Killzone 2 graphics are no longer CGI, or trickery. They are a reality, my ignorant-friend.
On another note, Motorstorm 2 was also playable, and while the demo was showing a 40% build, it already looked noticeably better than the first one did.
Good news all over the place.
Can’t wait for Metal Gear
hahaha! Some blind people still think it’s CGI! Way to go, losers!
I like my interactive Pixar movie about raw war and mass destruction, thankyouverymuch. You must still be playing the first Quake or the first Doom. Try Rise of the Triad too, it’s hilarious. After all it’s all about playability, eh guys? LOL
The “playing with your arms > pushing buttons” comment made me lol! Have you not seen it? Nintendo isn’t interested in the little monies of you, teh hardcorez. They want the big monies of your grandpas and are on their way to kill gaming with Brain trainers, WiiFits and who now what evil machinations they’ll come after that. Gamers have seen it, journalists have seen it, even third parties have seen it and Nintendo has been doing some damage control lately. That comment of yours is like 6 months late, keep up with the news, man.
Killzone 2 looks stunning, easily the best looking console game ever made and probably better than anything on PC.
The fact it runs at 60fps in 1080p (with no slowdown and 4x AA) is all the more impressive.
I’m glad the Sony Defense Force has the moral courage to resist the evil claw of the Microsoft machine. Unlike so many blogs and websites that claim to be honest and unbiased, we can all rely on your steadfast determination and your relentless pursuit of the truth.
It looks like Sony is set to reinvent the single player FPS experience this year with Killzone 2. Then the heroes at Insomniac will show the world how to do multi player.
LittleBigPlanet will probably change game design forever. In a generations time most young developers will have been brought up and nurtured by Sony’s grand experiment.
I expect Home to kill all social networking sites over night and will probably change the way we view the Internet which is why Microsoft is so scared at the moment.
In just a few short days Sony fans will enjoy the best video game ever made; Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots ONLY on PlayStation 3.
Thank god for Sony. I’ve got nothing against xbox fans but it should be obvious to even them at this point. It’s time say good bye. The xbox might have been blighted by controversy, red lights and Halo 3 failing to meet expectations (and HD status) but it kind of had a good run for at least a short while.
Kind Regards.
PS This comment has been reposted as it was stuck awaiting moderation. This is probally due to events outside of SDF control. Could this be Microsoft’s doing? Almost certainly.
@Stickemup
What do you have to say about sites which are not parody sites like this one, saying that Killzone 2 looks like a PS2 game?
Though even if the screenshots looked 10 times better than those above do, it would still elicit a “meh†from me. Cute Pixar movie, but is there a game behind it?
Gameplay > Graphics
That point is not disputable or up for debate. And when any review or story about a game focuses primarily on the graphics of a game, then I know to steer clear of that game.
@RainbowSeven
I have enjoyed plenty of multiplayer on gta thanks so much. The game’s not boring you are. Your mother was a hampster and your father smelled of elderberries! I fart in your general direction. razz
KILL ALL XBOTS,
Killzone was a FLOP!
What makes you think this will be ANY better?
Because the dev thinks so? Of course THEY think so, a dev says their game is great, even when it’s complete shit!
Because Sony says so? Of course THEY think so, they paid for it.
The same goes for LBP, and Second Life 2, erm I mean Home!
So pull the Sony dick from your asshole, wipe, then hit yourself in the face for being such a Sony Tool.
The $ony mindless minions, they are here in force trying to defend their crappy movie player! This game will be as good as the first, bucket of suck! MGS4 and the rest of the series sucks! Splinter Cell is much better. I hate jap crap CGI movie games.
Award winning? Yeah, you win the 2007 Suck-Ass award for being $ony ass clowns. Dumb people.
Don’t be mad guys, go toward the light! 360 is where it’s at, where all the great games are! At least we can play GTA4 online, you can’t. So much for the free online service, if you can call it that.
Killzone was a huge commercial and critical success and Killzone 2 will probably sell 10 million copies.
Maybe you should remove the Microsoft ring piece from your big plump lips and slap your nice pink buttocks for being such a Microsoft device.
@ KILL ALL XBOTS:
“probably better than anything on PC.”
“60fps in 1080p (with no slowdown and 4x AA)”
There are computer monitors that go higher than 1080p, and PC games that run at 60fpt with 16x AA. So no, it doesn’t beat PC games.
“I’ve got nothing against xbox fans”
“KILL ALL XBOTS”

From the mouth of Sony’s biggest loser:
http://www.mcvuk.com/news/30512/Hirai-Were-not-competing-with-Microsoft-or-Nintendo
From Jim Sterling of Destructoid.com
First off, let it not be said that graphics aren’t important, because they most assuredly are. Just like nobody wants to read a book printed in a bad font or watch a badly shot film, nobody wants to play a game that looks like complete and utter garbage. Beautiful visuals have their place, and can make a good game even better by virtue of slick animation and gorgeous scenery. However, graphics alone do not a game make, and with the ever-increasing thirst for high-definition eye candy, the focus on gameplay sometimes seems worryingly absent.
Killzone 2 is certainly not exclusive in this, but it has certainly been one of the most obvious. Developer Guerrilla and publisher Sony have almost obsessively sold Killzone 2 on its visual quality alone. First they tried to fool us with the notorious “in-game” footage that turned out to be little more than a fabrication, and ever since then the developers have been desperately trying to make the game look as good as they claimed it would, and convince us that it will look amazing.
Nary a word, however, is said about how the thing will actually play.
This is becoming increasingly frustrating, because I honestly don’t care how good a game looks if it all falls apart when I finally get a controller in my hand. There have been many games that are graphically impressive but lack anything of value beyond the visual aspect — Black was a perfect example of this, a game that proved you actually can polish a turd. However, many gamers seem to buy the story over and over, letting developers pull the wool over their eyes and dazzle them with pretty pictures. Distracted by such photorealistic treats, gamers don’t stop to think whether or not it will actually be a good game, or just a good-looking game.
I’m a gamer, not an art critic, and if all I cared about was how something looked, I would spend my time reviewing paintings. I have become sick of the term “in-game footage,” and am of the opinion that any developer who uses that term is a developer not confident about its title’s gameplay. If all you can talk about is what’s on the surface, I am led to believe that there’s very little depth under the hood. It’s all well and good to wow us with gorgeous images, but sooner or later, you are going to have to deliver something of substance, or get the fuck off my radar. I have no time for vapid and shallow non-entities with nothing but looks on offer — the game equivalent of Paris Hilton.
The way Killzone 2 has been marketed offends me. I find it pretty vulgar to see a game sell itself purely on something so utterly cursory, especially from a series that lacks pedigree. Many of us seem to have forgotten that the original Killzone was an average and generic FPS across the board — repetitive and unable to stand out on anything but — unsurprisingly — how good it looked for a PS2 game.
The market has pretty much proven that it cares more about games than graphics. One need only look at the last generation — and the massive success of the PlayStation 2 — to see that. Despite its hardware being inferior to that of the GameCube and the Xbox, the PS2 is still the most successful home console to date with worldwide sales of over 127 million units — a number that increases even in this current generation. It beat its graphically superior competition because it had the best library of games, not because it had the best water effects.
Going back a generation before then, one need only look at how the Dreamcast failed to gain enough momentum to replace the original PlayStation before the PS2′s arrival. Handhelds, too, have gone to show how looks aren’t everything — the Nintendo DS is a wild success story, despite not being as powerful as the PSP, which is only now starting to gain big momentum in Japan.
Need I even mention the Wii?
The fact is, Killzone 2 may very well be an excellent game — but I don’t know its gameplay potential, and I don’t have the first clue because all I keep hearing about is how good it looks. I haven’t been given anything to convince me it will be a good game, only a good piece of eye candy. It’s not like we ever truly know how enjoyable a title is until we get our own hands on it, but we usually have a clue as to whether the game will impress us, and I must confess that outside of some lovely animations, I have not the slightest inkling whether this is a game I want to play, or merely look at and say “that’s pretty, now give me my Metal Gear Solid.”
By all means, if a game looks gorgeous, then show it off. However, if that’s all you can talk about, then don’t expect everyone to be filled with confidence, because beauty is only skin deep. Stop saying things like “this is in-game footage” in a desperate ploy to impress us, because it betrays your own one-dimensional approach to game design. If that’s all you care about, then I don’t expect anything more than generic gameplay from vapid designers. You could well be creating an intense and jaw dropping playing experience, but that’s not the impression you give me when all you’re talking about are the aesthetics.
I love a beautiful game, but I love beautiful gameplay better. That’s all I’m trying to say.
http://www.destructoid.com/beauty-is-skin-deep-calling-out-the-graphics-pimps-85185.phtml
To me gameplay and graphics should be on the same level these days.
I don’t care how good it plays, if it’s not visually pleasing, I will probably not go out of my way to get my hands on it. If I only cared about gameplay, I would stick to my PS2.
What is the point of next-gen consoles, if the games are gonna look the same as they did last generation? Especially for $60!
I for one am very displeased with this generation. There are only a few games out that really feel next-gen. And that goes for the PS3 and the 360.
I wanna get that same feeling I got when I first played Mario 64 at Toys R Us.
I’m tired of wasting my time reading trolls comments so I’m trying to use the search button on people’s names now.
People worth paying attention to:
Stickmeup
ColdYellow
six1s
spooky205
animekid3515
sm0ke
At least they can contribute something that stimulates my brain.
Trolls:
anyone with xbot, ftw, nextgen, or a derogatory play on words aimed at a console (I’m pretty sure a few of the people with these in their names may have valid points, but…most will be far too biased to have a lasting comment that wont end in them claiming their console has utter superiority). I know SDF is pretty questionable but that doesn’t mean all the people on the site have to be as well. maybe people should look at their greater than thou egos about their systems and see if it actually contributes anything. It’s getting boring otherwise.
lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol
If you’re fed up (and jealous) about hearing how pretty it is, and want to know about gameplay.
You should watch the killzone 2 vids on Youtube, gameplay looks pretty godamn sweet, and with typical Youtube resolutions you’ll get an idea of how it would look if it comes to xbox.
“LittleBigPlanet will probably change game design forever. In a generations time most young developers will have been brought up and nurtured by Sony’s grand experiment.”
The PC has had “mods” for games longer than you have had a brain and before Sony even considered entering in the console market. Also don’t expect to see LBPs influence on game design on a young generation for at least 10-15 years if the game is any good (sure it “looks” fun but noone knows untill the game is being played).
Yeah, I’ve been modding PC games since Wolf-3D!
That’s longer then your average PS3tard has been alive.
@Paul
Killzone 2 come to the 360? I sure as hell hope not. Why weaken the 360′s library with a sequel to a game no one cared about in the first place?
And as far as ColdYellow’s post, Jim from Destructoid seems to make many valid points.
@stickemup
My take on this console cycle is maybe kinda different then what we might come to expect (thats a problem we all have). My idea for this console cycle isn’t so much about the all around improvements to the obvious (graphics, sound and etc) but the mechanics of the game(s). When I mean mechanics i mean physics, AI and all that other fun stuff we don’t necassary see or hear. I think with improvements in those areas (along with graphics, sound, and etc) there can be amazing games to be had on all three consoles and thats what I believe this console cycle is about.
@everyone
Here’s some food for thought (and not to start a flame war):
Are Nintendo and Microsoft the potentially the best things to happen to Sony?
Just want to hear what some are thinking and why?
@animekid
Why the “fuck no” answer to Bioshock? Not going to crap on you for your opinion just curious.
@OldJello
You’re right as always, I think Nintendo and Micro$haft are definitely the best thing to happen to Sony.
Nintendo have emphasised the Ps3′s beautiful graphics.
Micro$haft have emphasised the Ps3′s silent running reliability, cool design, multifunctionalityness, and beautiful graphics.
If it wasn’t for the Wii and 360, people wouldn’t realise exactly how awesome a piece of plastic the Ps3 really is.
And don’t worry about starting a flame war, this is a place for relentless,care free flaming.
Doom > Killzone 2
“If it wasn’t for the Wii and 360, people wouldn’t have a choice, and Sony could have charged twice as much for the PS3.”
Fixed your post Paul!
@ColdYellow – So the 360 is the ugly girl? I guess so. The 360 looks really tacky, especially with the HD-DVD add-on, and the faceplates. And the noise…how can you guys stand it?
Plus you can teach a girl to be good in bed, I’m almost there…just a month away, and she will rock my bed like it’s never been rocked (MGS4).
Plus she’s here for the long run, remember how that old girlfriend of yours…what was her name? X-Box? Left you really fast. My PS2 is still pumping out games, and the jump off for her was really similiar to the PS3s. I’m just glad she is future proof, and isn’t going to do a 720 and leave me in 2 years.
Ok, enough of that.
The Wii is a whore who doesn’t care who uses her.
@Coldyellow – I wasn’t talking about you in the second and third paragraphs, you know I like you.
MGS4 just received it’s first of many 10s.
@ coldyellow
hey man….dont you have anything better to do with youre sick life than to sit there and type all of this shit?come on! most people with a healthy sex life just
get on this site and bullshit a little here and there, but you take this crap to another leval! why dont you get a life,get a girl, i can just imagine what youe sorry ass must look like>>>>>>bigfat,gross,slob,with youre 100pc.chiken nuggets on your lap typing while
you eat high fat foods! hey stikemup! waht kind of homo bullshit is this?”you know i like you”
Seriously?
This is a joke, right? Please. Someone tell me this is a joke. I mean, I’d hate to think I just spent the last 10 minutes laughing my ass off at something that wasn’t a joke…
They used screenshots from GoW2 that completely fail to show the actual terrain, as well took them during times the screen would be shaking (shooting, chainsawing, etc) which’ll affect the quality, they also didn’t touch up and clean the pictures as they had with Killzone 2… among other issues.
So please. Someone. Tell me this site is a joke made to take itself way too seriously and provide readers with a good laugh. I don’t follow any one system, generally ending up with one of each by the end of that Gen’s run anyway, but man… even I have to shake my head at this one.
okay,i will just read as “we re dazzled with gears 2″ and call for the day
not that anyone noticed,but thats probably a microsoft fanboy website made for mock of sony fanboys (not that this is really hard really :3)
This is funny. How long is it taking to make killzone2? it better be #$@@$#% good. I’m no fanboy of either console. But this guys comparisons are really childish. I’ve played and loved Gears of war and part 2 looks even better. Call of Duty4 did what Killzone was meant to do a few months back. Killzone 2 is now only going to feel like a call of duty 4 remake. Sorry to break your childish hearts, but the truth is obvious.
it also exeeds any 360 game that will ever be made or even dreamed up
