MGS4 PS3 sells out; topples Wii, Wii Fit, Mario Kart
It begins. The Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB PS3 is selling out across the globe. Rumor has it the product page on Amazon was getting so many hits that it was the cause of the Amazon.com outage earlier today. So much for the failure known as Wii Fit… next gen gaming has arrived.
Other notable placements on the Amazon.com bestseller charts are MGS4 game (pre-order) at #8, 40 GB PS3 at #23, and Xbox 360 (a system currently on life support) comes in at a dismal #51.
#6 is Fallout 3 for Xbox360 and #7 is MGS 4.
Something brand new topping the amazon.com popularity list and beating out items several months/years old? The hell you say!

No the xbox isn’t getting owned at all. Now lets look at this in a different light. Sure the PS3 MGS4 bundle is going to be high up on the list (since new shit always goes to #1). Amazon only has 2 more left and there both going for $900 and $1400. Sure they sold out of them and crashed the site for a bit, but look at what there being sold at. No one will buy those and whoever does is a fucking moron to do so. Hell if someone is that hardup for the bundle why not just go buy everything seperatly and still save roughly a few hundred bucks.
Also what dominates most of the bestsellers for video games on amazon? no shit its the Wii and the 360 to round it out and the PS3 having the least number of 100 bestselling things for amazon.
So no the 360 isn’t getting owned at all and the market can maintain 3 different consoles and have them be all be sucessful and you know who that benefits at the end? We all do.
This really is the beginning of the end for the Xbox 360.
The two consoles are selling about the same in the US, but that will change once MGS4 comes out. Everyone I know is waiting on this bundle and this game to jump in and get a Playstation 3.
Being the greatest game ever made, it will sell a SHITLOAD of systems.

I dont see how any PS3 fanboy would see this as good news… acording to amazon this strictly shows that more people dubed PS3 useless without MGS4, hence why its outselling just the game itself… More people are buying the PS3, not because of “what it is”, but rather, its the only way you can play MGS4. So all this shows in the MGS franchise is > Playstation…
The pre-order for MGS4 is lower because they aren’t counting the bundles. Or am I mistaken? I didn’t bother to check, I just assume that is the reason.

The 360 being owned isn’t happening until PS3 has sold more units total. No comparative sales, I mean until the total number of PS3s sold to customers is greater then the total number of 360s sold to customers. And it’s still losing to the Wii. I love rubbing THAT salt in your wounds.

Just cause MGS4 pack is top of the charts still doesnt mean that the PS3 is worth the money or is a great console. People are buying the MGS4 packs becuase they are in limited edition of 10,000 only. Each and every pack will end up on eBay by greedy sellers hoping to make a quick buck from the retard PS3 Fanboys.
The PS3 couls sell 20m consoles tommorow and still it wouldnt be a better console than the 360. Not until it has an established libary of games, and not just games that will appear in another 18 months from now like the first load of PS3 AAA games did.
This basically proves nothing. A new item that had just come out topped the charts over things that were that old? I don’t think that MGS4 will be so much of a system seller, as it is more of a hit or miss game with most people (not to say it isn’t a good, popular game, I’m just going off what happened with MGS3). The 360, or any console for that matter, won’t be killed by a single game. It just doesn’t work like that. I mean, look at Halo 3, which broke all the records for sales. If that didn’t kill the PS3 during its time of weakness, how will MGS4 kill the 360 when both consoles are neck and neck?

I just remembered a funny dig that Sonyboys used in the “Metal Gear Solid vs. Splinter Cell” argument.
“Snake has age on his side, Sam Fischer is too old to be sneaking around!” Then they showed that Snake would be a geezer for MGS4, and they prenteded that that comment never happened. Sorta like they did with all of the “2007 will be Year of the PS3″

Splinter Cell PWNS MGS. MGS is good, but the controls and action of Splinter Cell is better.

I’ve never completed a Splinter Cell game, but I’ve play a couple of them. It’s so different from MGS4, that they aren’t even comparable.

On another subject, hardly any games compare to Stepmania, though. I’ve been playing that for 2 years now.
Why compare the two? They are for people of different tastes in the genre. They are both great games.

It’s basically a pay-for-demos-and-ads service for PSN. Now Sonyboys hate on XBL because it’s a pay-for service, Yet the Sonyboys are defending Qore! I think everyone who is a Sony fanboy should be sterilized via a console firmware update.

Go to the Gamefags-er-faqs boards sometimes, You’ll see that I’m correct.
A time tested franchise stays on PS3, you’ll see some dissapointment from the other two camps, along with Sonyboys going, “HAHA! Look what we got!” But when a time tested franchise appears on one of those two systems the Sonyboys act like they’ve been stabbed in the back, they then rush the game’s new board, and bash the hell out of it, and the system it’s on. You should have seen the mess that the Wii’s Monster Hunter 3 board was.

I’m afraid I have to disagree Hans, Halo 3 (I think you mean 2.5) was a system seller, just not the system they intended. It was after I played Halo 2.5 that I began to think, ok, I need a PS3! I strongly suspect Gears of Bore 1.02 will have a similar effect on people, given that it’ll be measured against the vastly superior Resistance 2.

A niche game is one that sells to a very small audience. Gears and Halo 3 sold to very HUGE audiences. I’m sick of correcting you dumb ass fuck slags!
erm… just a littl thing. Take a look at cd’s. Stuff that has been out for 2 years and has saturated it’s market doesn’t sell. A CD from 5 or 6 years ago doesn’t sell as well as new ones.
Also, one niche game doesn’t make a market. The PS3 is going to have to shift ome units to non metal gear fans for the game to be a success… and the factors I posted in a previous post by you lot told ou the reasons why it wont… Wrong end of year, console is the most expensive on the market, MGS is still a niche title in a very microscopic niche market.
