Final Fantasy XIII Announced Exclusively for the PS3
The recent announcement by Square-Enix that Final Fantasy XIII would remain a Playstation 3 exclusive in Japan marks the death of the Xbox 360 in the Land of the Rising Sun. Even more startling is that Square managed to announce this at Micosoft’s own press conference, only confirming Square’s commitment to the Playstation 3 brand and its desire to see the Xbox 360 flounder.
On a related note, the massive development costs for the Final Fantasy XIII project have forced Square to announce an inferior Xbox 360 port in North America and Europe. Spanning 6 DVDs, Final Fantasy XIII will release on the Xbox 360 but only because Sony doesn’t care about the franchise enough to subsidize its enormous development costs.
As always, in the end Sony wins and Microsoft loses. Tomorrow, it begins.

What Hans really meant is that the PS3 will live a little longer in Japan, but the rest of the world the PS3 is well and truly fucked. Looks like Square Enix has worked out what everyone else already knew (bar SDF of course). The PS3 will go down as the biggest flop in gaming, after the awesome success of the PSone and PS2, the PS3 couldnt cut it when it actually had some competition against it.

Wow. You hate an inanimate object used for entertainment. That’s just sad. How is the hardware crap? The Xenos GPU is very powerful. It’s totally on par with the GPU used in the PS3. In my opinion, the graphics on the PS3 and 360 are not really different. Both consoles have good graphics. Pssht. Why are we even talking about graphics? Why don’t we focus on the games that they have to offer us.

erik, everything showed at Microsoft’s E3 press conference looked terrible. They showed no new games. Did you actually watch the conference? It focused largely on casual garbage.

On a side note, who cares that FFXIII is still exclusive in Japan? Chances are Microsoft would save money this way. If they did sell it in Japan it would be the difference of… maybe 3 units?

It was a very sad day for Nintendo, but I don’t think they realize it or even care. They’re too high on all the green.
And it’s also unfair to say GoW3 wasn’t impressive, because they hardly showed anything. If they would have shown in-game action then that would be acceptable.

Sony showed that they can go head-to-head with the 360 when it comes to games, and dare I say, even offer more games…
They did a piss-poor job showing them off though. But we can see they are there.
A very boring E3, no real mind-blowing game news. FF13 was great for 360 fans, but it’s a game we already knew was coming. MAG sounds good, but we’ll reserve any comments on that until we learn more.

Sony’s was a cop out. They had nothing to really counter their highest profile exclusive going multi.

@Cold – Yeah E3 sucked, well when it comes to the presentations that is. I saw a whole bunch of awesome looking games on the floor.
Sony had the chance to steal the show but didn’t show enough games. I will say MS won with the “holy sh*t” news of FF13, but even that isn’t too great if you put it into perspective…
A game that is also coming out for the PS3, that’s slated for a 2009, possibly 2010 release. It was just the shock of the news.
Sony did show more games though. They just didn’t show them enough.

No doubt there’s awesome looking games at E3, but like you said the presentations kinda sucked. Theres little doubt that sony could have taken the show but they didn’t do anything at all really. Sure Infamous has tickled my interest and so has GOW3, but c’mon MMORPGS and MMOFPS on a console is not my cup of tea at all.
All I guess I wanted to see and hear was big annoucments for new games and details on shit thats coming out soon for all 3 consoles.

FFXIII Exclusive in Japan, that just means ONe thing:
FFXIII will be on PS3 VIRGIN, it means hat xox wont touch the final product, so, PS3 will get the BEST graphics and game power.
Xbox will get the compressed game, with poor videos, poor textures, and some DVD’s.
I’m still thinking how will Xbox manage to load the full world in a single DVD, you know, all FF usually on the final, you can run around the world free, so… how will Microsoft manage to put the ENTIRE world in a single DVD?
This just means one thing: Resolution 520p, compressed videos in SD Quality, Compressed textures with big pixels.
Square left FF for those poor gamers that has Xbox, giving them a low-quality game, anyways they will buy it, like xboxers keeps doing with all xbox games (all sihitty games, but they keep paying for it)

I’m wondering the same thing though, what quality is the 360 going to get? Square swears that both versions will be the same, but this coming from the same company that said FF13 would stay exclusive.
I’m wondering if the White engine was better, but they switched to the new one to accomodate 360 hardware. Hopefully not…
One thing for sure though, PS3 owners should have no worries about getting shafted with an inferior version.

Well, that’s those are the good news. The White engine works equal for both consles, but, since both consoles are different, the final product will be different also.
Square-Enix sayd that they’re compressing the Xbox360 videos/game to put it on differents DVDs. Read ffxiii.net for more information, it’s official.
PS3 doesnt need any compression (just from PC to PS3).
I hope all Multiplatform games would be like this, equal for each console depending on their power. No more PORTS, kthxbye.

I guess you didn’t know that the 360 will now be able to offload games to the Hard Drive (just like the POS3). So, for FF13, I envision 2-3 DVDs:1-2 to load to the HDD, the 2nd or 3rd to be a play disc. So, really one disc to play. And I venture that, like most games, the 360 graphics will be as good or better than your Nvidia 7800 gimped GPU movie player/grill!
MS will WIN, like me!

Both versions are going to be equal…what fanboys fail to comprehend is that the 360 and the PS3 are incredibly similar in capabilities. Going multiplat will not affect any of the things that would make a great Final Fantasy game: the story, gameplay, creativity, or innovation. It might make for a slight loss in the graphics department, but when was the last time you played a FF game for the graphics alone?

FF13 will be exactly the same on both versions. Neither console is particularly better than the other in terms of processsing, and you cant bullshit that it is either, because it’s not.
FF13 will no doubt be on 4 discs for the 360 (or around that as Lost Oddessey was too), and 1 bluray for the PS3. The difference being is that the bluray wil no doubt have a 20min install before you can play, and like any other final fantasy on the PS1/PS2 you’ll have to swap the disc over at a certain point on the 360. Either way, who gives a crap. Weve all had to install on a PC, and weve all had to swap discs at some point in our gaming lives without complaining.
FF13 will be out for the PS3 in japan first, then a out for both the 360 and PS3 at the same time in Europe and US. That means i’ll get to play it on my 360, and a PS3 player will get to play it too.
What makes me laugh is the PS Fanbots who cry like bitches over it, who gives a fuck if it’s coming out on the 360, if Sqaure said it’s cancelled for the PS3 and 360 Exclusive then fair enough, but it’s not so just be paitent and wait for it to be released like it was. If FF13 Veruses comes out on the 360, so what? If Halo 3 came out on the PS3, so what? Nobody makes or loses money on it bar Sony and MS, so dont worry you little socks over which console it’s going to be released on.

@slimster – Yeah but MS has take it upon themselves that other companies don’t thrive by making them go out of business. And while I’m forced to use Windows (I don’t have enough to get a Mac) I sure as hell don’t use MS Explorer or anything else that comes with it.
But yeah, I’m sure both versions will be fine. Sadly this game isn’t coming out until 2010, thanks to the 360 port. Sucks for us. I don’t see why they can’t just finish the PS3 version and then make the 360 version.

Remember what our old friend Kojima said? He said that it was possible for MGS4 to be on the Xbox 360. I find it sort of ironic. Was it a message? Maybe he was sort of telling us that MGS4 would be on the 360. Again, we cannot be certain. This is only a rumor.

I used to be so excited for E3. 2004-2006 had a shitload of games that were all eye catching. For some reason, E3 2008 just doesn’t feel that way. Anybody else feel the way I feel? Some of the really big titles like Diablo 3 and God of War 3 are not even being presented that much. Instead, they give us a bunch of games that I’m not even interested in. C’mon now! Wii Sports 2?! Although, there are some really interesting games that I just heard of recently. MAG has 256 player battles which is quite a feat for console gaming. I’m not so sure if the connection and latency will work out though. I wish that E3 2008 heavily focused on games like Gears of War 2 or Resistance 2. Oh well. At least they are presenting Far Cry 2.

FFXIII was a huge loss anyway you cut it, but let’s face it: Sony takes care of their customers. Unless they have severe issues keeping up with production costs, the PS3 will continue to live around the world, as it doesn’t have a 33% fail rate- and to those of you that believe that the 360 has anything otherwise must be flippin’ looney. If it’s not the RRoD, it’s the Disk Reader. If it’s not the disk reader, it’s gutting disks (look up KASSA’s studies).
Not to say that the 360 doesn’t have good games- and I think it’s wonderful that they’re catering to JRPG fans this round because, but let’s face it, the XBox was primarily an FPS system. But to those that think that the 360 is really cheaper than the PS3, well you’d have to have the IQ of a sponge to truly believe that. Set HDDs, WiFi Component, Live- let’s just be happy that HD-DVDs fell through so they can’t overcharge for that anymore ($180). Adding up the price of all that, you get a hefty price of $550 ($180 for a 120 GB HDD, $100 for wifi, and $50 for live- and this is being added to the soon-to-be discontinued 20 GB Model of the 360, so $300 was the base price- sans tax of course).
Even if you were to buy the 80 GB PS3 ($500 which, as it stands, contains a copy of MGS4, a Dualshock 3 Controller, and a free download of Pain- altogether totaling a $80 saved) and wanted to update your HDD, you could buy a 160 GB 2.5″ SATA HDD for $80- so even if you were stupid enough to forget about the current additions in with the PS3 80 GB, you’d see that the PS3 is only $30 more than the current “Pro”, which is about to be discontinued. Too bad they’re only increasing the HDD space for the new Pros, and not fixing that soldering issue… or the disk reader issues… or including that vital component that keeps the 360 from gutting disks… but I digress.
But in the end, assuming any of you actually read all of this to get to the part that matters- which I doubt, looking at the general intelligence that belongs to this site and all of its users- why on earth do you all have such zealous attitudes towards these consoles? You matter about as much to these companies as ants to a kid with a magnifying glass. Quite simply, if they don’t care, why on earth do all of you?
Honestly, I’ll never understand what exactly goes into the thought process that makes people post such idiotic drivel. As an owner or the 360 and the PS3 (with a current love/hate relationship for each), I’d honestly say “Get off your high horses and just play the damn games. The systems were made for your enjoyment, not so you can waste your time arguing about why one is/isn’t better on the internet.”

I think that Killzone 2’s biggest weakness maybe its AI. If Sony can work there way around that obstacle then Killzone 2 will be a great game. If not, then it will be a disappointment just like the first game. Other than that, Killzone 2’s graphics look outstanding. Let’s hope that it stays that way when the game is released.

And if anything the AI is being praised by the people who’ve had hands-on with it. The only problem I’ve heard is that it takes too many shots to take enemies down, and some of the weapons have too much recoil.
@Marnick – I believe there are going to be more than just greys, it’s like with MGS4, everybody thought it was just going to be grey, and we ended up seeing locales from all over the world that looked completely different.
Killzone 2 had more than just greys, so I’m sure this wont be any different.

You do realize that the first Killzone was a flop right? And even if Killzone 2 is twice as good as the first it will still suck. I think you are playing the part of the graphics whore, again. If the first Killzone was like a kick in the nuts. Then being optimistic for a better looking sequel is like looking forward to a second kick in the nuts with a platinum plated boot.

I don’t know about anyone else, but Project Origin (not only being the TRUE SEQUAL to FEAR) has me excited. Also I heard (to not knock on other FPS’s) but the AI for it just blows away everything else and its intense nontheless.

A: If I was a graphics whore the Wii wouldn’t be my favorite current gen system now would it? The graphics are pretty bad.
B: As far as calling you a graphics whore, by this time I know how you think. So reading between the lines isn’t all that hard.
C: To be brutally honest the graphics are the only thing that Killzone 2 has for it. Without its graphics to draw media attention to it it likely would be mostly ignored because it would be a run of the mill game that is a sequel to a horrid flop.

And to sum up my last comment that I know is never going to post, Killzone 2 is a lot more than you have seen, just like MGS4, it has more colors in other levels. And the AI has been praised by a lot of people at E3.

IDK, I’m MUCH more excited for Left4Dead than any other shooter this or next year. The AI looks fantastic, and the co-op looks to be a blast.

Xbox 360: supports a max of 12 users in On-line game, with a laggy system.
PS3: supports 256 users with a perfect system.
It’s not about numbers, it’s about the Next Generation, and Xbox 360 LOST.

Sony has just screwed over it’s biggest demographic of ownership for the console.
They revealed that the video store on PSN will NOT be available to users in Europe or Australia, not only will they not be available until 2012 but they are also IP locked, meaning that if they tried to pretend the console was located in the US, it still wouldn’t work.
Home is also still in it’s beta stage. You also cannot play with users from other countries except your own.

This game will be great on X-Brick- I mean X-Box 360.
All the cutscenes will actually be put on an HD-DVD disk so it’s no problem for space issues.
