The Next-Gen Leap We’ve All Been Waiting For…

Take a look at this comparison of last-gen graphics provided by the inferior garbage bin, 2005 budget GPU with Xenos and the Xbox 360 and compare them to the stunning visuals of a truly next-gen system with the symbiotic power of Blu-Ray, Cell, and RSX. Playstation 3 is mighty impressive, isn’t it? February isn’t too long fellas. Time to turn in your Xcoats at the door.

  1. whats an Xcoat? and why compare a game that comes out in february with a game that came out 18 months prior.
    Halo 3 was over-rated, but it was never described as realistic, your comparing 2 very different artistic stylings.
    Tell you what, compare the one thing that truely matters, sales! compare the pre-order and first week sales when Killzone 2 comes out and then run your mouth

  2. Great graphics and gameplay don’t matter! Sales do!

    Amazing. Xbox fans are the new nintendo fans?

    They don’t have any games so they have to resort to sales discussion. Hilarious.

    I’ll be enjoying Killzone 2. Selling my 360 and entire games library (2 games) because there’s no need for the system anymore.

  3. Okay, so I see that Hans has his moderation set to block links that can prove him wrong. So if like the link doesn’t get posted, like in the previous story I tried to post the same link in, instead I’ll just say this:

    Hans. If the 360 doesn’t have any games, then why does the 360 have 16 games with a metacritic score of 16 and higher and the PS3 only 7? Who doesn’t have games now?

    Furthermore if Sony expects me to come within ten feet of Killzone 2 they are going to have to do a LOT of work to prove that its not shit like the original was. And that it actually has some gameplay to go along with its graphics. Because right now its just looking like all style, no substance. Of course that can sum up a lot of PS3 games.

  4. And why did I have the feeling they used halo2 footage in those screenies? Didn’t look like halo3 in a mile’s radius.

    Furthermore, a proven cgi upboosted fake yet-to-be-released title compared to an awardwinning topselling year old title. Way to go SDF, way to go.

    Killzone 2 to ps fanboys is like feeding shit to rats. They’ll eat it without thinking twice.

    @hans

    Why not use Gears 2 pics instead?

    Always you gotta comparre Halo 3 with Killzone 2 and its really no contest what LOOKS better, but for arguments sake, at least have a comparison between what brown looking game looks better than the other brown looking game.

  6. those pics make halo 3 look better than it is when its in motion, killzone 2 will be so much better than anything the 360 can even attempt to make

  7. And if Killzone 2 is a horrible game to play, then you can be content to stare at the pretty pictures and know your 400 bucks was used meaningfully.

    God, consoles are so ridiculously outdated, it makes me cringe sometimes.
    Have fun playing your inferior Killzone 2.

  9. The PS3 was released two years ago. It is not ‘next-gen.’ It is current gen.

    Also, what’s your basis that Halo 3 was the ‘peak’ of the 360 tech?

  10. I mean, what, it took two years for the PS3 to start being ‘next-gen?’ Huh?

  11. @Pannic

    Not exactly. PS3′s first full year on the market had a few good games. 2nd full year it has had many including my new favorite game Valkyria Chronicles. 2009 I hope will be nicer I hope. I havn’t liked the new game generation all that much really, all health regen hyped up shooters with high graphics but no originality. lol

  12. Oh, jolly, anyone even cares about Killzone 2 anymore?
    Aren’t you people over FPSes yet?

  13. Fantastic, how my christmas is complete knowing that Killzone 2 looks nicer than Halo 3. Im over the moon :)

    If only i had a PS3 to play it on, ah well just guess i’ll have to settle for the new GTA4 game on my 360, along with Gears 2.

  14. Oh, did i not mention that people wont be playing Killzone 2 long after it’s release like people do with Halo 3. So in that sense Halo 3 pwns Killzone 2.

  15. Killzone 2 … Why does anyone even bother… That game was shown at first in 2005. We’re almost 2009 now. Doesn’t that make you remember the duke nukem forever fiasco

  16. rider of the short bus Says:

    It’s pretty well known that the 360 GPU is slightly superior to the PS3 GPU, which is why the Xbox games usually have better textures.
    Also, the Cell in the PS3 is a watered down version of the ACTUAL Cell, which is basically raped by several other processors for gaming

  17. rider of the short bus Says:

    By the way SDF, why do you still claim to be ad free when there are banner ads all over the place?

  18. @ Hans “Xbox fans are the new nintendo fans?”

    No. XBox fans are XBox fans. While we argue with sales (+1 point to your theory) Nintendo caters to the casual market, with things like Wii sports, Cooking Mama and the like. Those are loved by soccer moms the world over, which will give them a massive sales advantage. Arguing sales from a Nintendo point of view is irrelevant because they are utterly different.

    The 360 however targets a similar audience to the PS3, albeit those who have slightly more sense than to simply buy the marketing.

    With the 360 you have games such as Gears of War 2, Halo 3 (which I’ll admit doesn’t have perfect graphics, but it wasn’t supposed to), Forza Motorsport, Dead Rising, Crackdown and many more.

    These games target the same general audience as the PS3. Compare Resistance to Gears of War or Halo, and Gran Turismo to Forza Motorsport. Ok, perhaps the GT comparison was unfair because the physics modelling in it is horrible, but my general point stands. GT and Forza are both near enough real-world compared to the dreck that we’re being fed by Nintendo. Mario Kart may be fun and popular, but it’s in no way a competitor to GT or Forza.

    Which is why arguing sales in terms of XBox vs. PS3 is fair, while Wii vs anything else isn’t.

    I look forward to a well written, unbiased and well thought out reply from one of you guys. Toodles.

    @Aranthos

    I think we can both agree that the PS3 has has a really crappy marketing behind it. I for one play my 360 more than my PS3 (though it is catching up with the time spent with it), but what I have noticed is that the games on PSN are just as good (if not) better than alot of retail games and games released on XBLA.

    While marketing will always sucker people into buying a console or game, I tend to think alot of people are actually misinformed about all three consoles. Nintendo wants to be hardcore, MS wants to be casual, and sony wants to be both and all three are failing on that level. I can’t understand why MS wants to appeal to a market that Nintendo clearly has and sony trying to be everything to everyone doesn’t make a lick of sense at all.

    With regards to playstation brand, I think they need to solely concentrate on getting there price down while maintaining the quality of hardware and concentrate of games instead of “it can do it all” mindset they seem to be stuck in the moment.

  20. Ditch the blu-ray and the cell and you’ve got yourself a 200€ ps3.

    About wii sales vs everything else. It’s a console and it got good games. You can perfectly compare the sales. Would it be unfair to compare the ps2 sales to gcn or xbox sales because it catered more to casuals and xbox to hardcore/gcn to fans?

  21. InfraredChimera Says:

    @marnick

    the Wii does have good games there’s no doubt about it, but look at the metacritic scores for the majority of its games compaired to the PS3 and the 360, then there lies the big difference. Sure Nintendo sells a shit ton of consoles, but ten shit tons of crap games for it (unless mini-game collections are your bread and butter).

  22. I laughed when I read that Halo 3 was the full potential of the system. Let’s forget about Gears 2, RE5, any other game that looks better than Halo 3. Of course Halo 3 represents the maximum the 360 can put out.

    I’ll just drown out SDF with some Left 4 Dead, Halo 3, Gears 2, Fable 2…

  23. SDF forgot to mention that Sony KILLED two perfectly good studios. Free Radical, and Factor 5 both made PS3 exclusives, and now they are bankrupt.

  24. Oh Hans. I had your father, he was terrible!

    So…..the Wii is exactly the same as the vaunted PS2, then? – Best selling console = fuckloads of shovelware.

    Anyway, the Wii might have a lot of shit games but it still has more great games than the PoS3 does.

  26. @InfraredChimera
    What RainbowSeven said.

    But you didn’t answer my question. So you can’t compare the ps2 and xbox in the same way you can’t compare wii and ps3?

  27. I like how nobody on Earth still plays Killzone 1, yet thousands still play Halo CE and Halo 2.

    Killzone 2 versus Halo 3? For a month or so, Killzone will attract all 25 of the PS3 owners (including me), but then it will get old and tedious.

    Can’t help noticing that Killzone 2 looks like it’s been shit on, what’s with the brown?

  28. “symbiotic power of Blu-Ray, Cell, and RSX”

    These three components are far from symbiotic. Blu-ray hampers loading times, which makes that cell doesn’t get it’s data in time. RSX is vastly inferior to the other components, acting as a last generation bottleneck. Cell is incredibly powerful for anything but games.

    Truly symbiotic in that making games for the damn thing is nigh impossible.

  29. Lets see a game from 2005 vs a game from 2009.
    Hmmm…Well by that coin Monster Hunter 3 for the Wii will be superior to every game on the PS3.

  30. InfraredChimera Says:
    December 23rd, 2008 at 1:40 pm

    @marnick

    I think its completely fair to compare the PS3 vs. Wii. They both are part of the same console cycle as is the 360, so comparisons in the software library are legit.
    What I do find bullshit though is the whole “PS3 doesn’t have any games” stigma, a matter in fact the PS3 does have for its games a higher review average than the Wii and 360 for either this past year (or last, I can’t remember off hand). Also to back my opinion is that almost all 3rd party games on the 360 do end up on the PS3 or vice versa, sure it has had a slow start all around, but it doesn’t mean the PS3 is crap by any stretch of the imagination.

    @RainbowSeven

    “So…..the Wii is exactly the same as the vaunted PS2, then? – Best selling console = fuckloads of shovelware”

    Sure every console has its share of shovelware, but the Wii has the most I’ve ever seen in my 20+ years as a gamer. The PS2 was the best selling console, because it does have the software to back it up. The only reason why the Wii isn’t doing shit numbers is because of the mass market appeal it has to a wider range of demographics and not to just the hardcore gamer crowd.

  33. The shitload of shovelware is visible only because others zoom in on it. If you’d browse through metacritic you’d see that the top 20 of wii games is just as or even more attractive than the top 20 of the other consoles. If I’m not mistaken SMG is the highest rated game this generation. Or second highest although I don’t count GTA4. That game deserves an 88, not a 100.

    So better graphics mean better game? That must mean Crysis is the best game in existance, but guess what, ive played it and its average at best.

    I recently dusted off my PS1 and started playing through Final Fantasy VII, hmmm the graphics arent as good as Killzone 2! but it is deffinately a way better game. Halo 3 was never about the graphics. It was about the Gameplay, and I enjoy playing Halo 3.

    Perhaps we should compare some Gears 2 screens? or some Mess Effect screens?

    Sorry, ese, but Halo 3 sucked balls.

    Can’t argue about FFVII, though.

  41. Halo 3 might have sucked, but not as bad as the original Killzone sucked. It really makes me laugh that the PS3 fanboys are so brainwashed that they would actually be waiting on pins and needles for a sequel to such a failure of a game.

    I hope all of you guys had a wonderful christmas and got to spend time with your loved ones.

    @erik

    Although Killzone sucked, it did have really good sound fx. Actually that was my favorite part of the whole game!

  43. @InfaredChimera

    Really thats not much to brag about. Getting a root canal won’t be any more enjoyable if your dentist is listening to some good music at the time. It would be hard to focus on anything except for the pain. You know, like Killzone.

  44. I’m autistic. I love games, but an overload of sensory inputs gets me a headache within instants. So except for teamspeak/ventrillo I have my sound muted with headphones on my head to block out environmental noise. Sound in a game won’t get me drooling except for soundgames like rez, wii music or elite beat agents. For all other games it’s not on my priority list.

  45. Don’t you love it when xbots run in circles like headless chickens, stuttering nonsense to try to counter that their system has been pwned hard?

    Who invited Wii sales in a pic comparison between 360′s flagship title Halo 3 and the mighty Killzone 2? Smoke screen? Desperate much?

    And who keeps embarrasing themselves talking about shitty gameplay when there’s a multiplayer Killzone 2 beta that all the Internet has nothing but good things to say about it? Seriously, check the forums, see the videos and the captures. It has nothing to do with the disastrous Halo3 beta, that one that looked like Halo2 on HD and left Xbots muttering in a corner “single player always has better graphics… single player always has better graphics…”. All the lucky ones that are playing Killzone 2 beta say it’s a lot of fun. The multiplayer aspect of this game will be nothing sort of a success, anybody that says otherwise are embarrassing themselves…

    I’m also happy to see that nobody dares to take out the famous E3 2005 Killzone 2 trailer anymore. Maybe it’s because the realtime footage is even surpasing that CG, the one that gave so much ammo during so much time to the xbot hordes. Well, time to suck it down, bitches >:D Guerrilla has owned you bad and hard.

    There’s an expansion of Halo3 coming soon, no? By then we can make another pic comparison with Killzone 2 >:). Ah, and for the ones that say you can’t compare a brighty style with dark and moddy style, nothing to worry about. There’s Uncharted 2 too, that will provide all sorts of bright captures. Good luck with that one xDDD

  46. Forgot to say that Halo 3 is a september 2007 title. Not a 2005 title. Seems like the feeble minds of Xbots are erasing the horrendous first year of the 360. Next I’m going to read is that Halo 3 was a lauch title, hence the poor graphic quality xDDD

    Killzone 2 only comes 1 year and a half later. Not four full years like some moron said above :D

  47. halo 3 as peak for 360 graphics? your funny… although the ps3 is much more capable then the 360 in terms of graphics still not seein it yet…

  48. xbotkiller: The trailer was a lie and still is a lie. It looked awesome. Today’s footage looks like bland piles of grey dirt. Beautiful dirt but dirt non-the-less.

    Within 7 months no one will be playing killzone2 anymore. Halo3 servers will still be chockful at that time. History will repeat itself. Good games remain, bad games die out.

  49. @Xbotkiller

    Are you really getting that hyped up over a sequel to a failure of a game? Really that’s sort of sad. I would really hope for your sake that maybe there would be a sequel to some successful games. But I guess with the PS3 you have to take what you can get eh?

    And as far as you continued assumption that Halo 3 is the peak of the 360′s ability, really no. There are so many games that have come out since then for the 360 that surpass Halo 3 by far. You might know that if you followed more than just sequels to failures.

    There’s one thing I have learned not to do for big games to be coming out in the future and that is hyping myself up for them. I want to play KZ2, but I’m going into it with a skeptical POV as well as I did with Gear2. While I agree that KZ was a pretty mediocre game but there was alot potential for it, and I’m curious as to what KZ2 will offer.

    While we all rag on games that we have played and sucked, we can’t judge a game untill we have played it. So for christs sake give KZ2 a chance (or any game that for that fact) because one might enjoy it or if you don’t at least you will be validated in your opinion about it.

  51. @InfafredChimera

    I’m skeptical about the games that I want to play that are coming out as well. But I’m not skeptical about Killzone 2. Its predecessor was shit, so without an act of God I’m going to assume its shit as well.

    So no, I will NOT give it a chance and no I will not play it.

    I’m actually kinda disliking the new Prince of Persia game, don’t get me wrong, I basically grew up playing those games and enjoyed most of them. But with the new one, it just seems there is WAY to much “hand holding” through the game and there seems not to be any form of challenge in it at all.
    Although I will pick it up eventually, I’m just going to wait for Skate 2 to come out (also my backlog is stacking up big time).

  53. @InfaredChimera

    I’ve lost interest in Prince of Persia since the whole emo phase he went through.

  54. I’m with erik on this one. Killzone was shit, liberation was hardly better and I’m just not wasting money, time and irritation on a game of which I know will be shit too.

  55. I’m still waiting for Hans or one of his lackies(IE one of his other names he posts under to make it look like he actually has support), to answer why if Halo 3 is supposedly the peak of the 360′s potential then why do so many 360 games look better than Halo 3?

    I didn’t loose interest in PoP after the so called “emo” Warrior Within (actually the style was more or a hard rock/metal theme considering that Godsmack provided some songs. And I wouldn’t call Godsmack a emo band), more kinda let down by the way it was handled, just like the new one.

    @marnick

    Don’t knock KZ2 untill you try it, and if you don’t like it, then feel free to shit all over it.

    And when are they going to fix Socom? I got it for Christmas and it seems like a solid game, but damned if every match I join isn’t filled to the brim with lag.

  61. Just to lever all the insanity here and all the opinions thrown as undeniable and divine facts, not all people thinks the same:

    - The first Killzone was a great game. Much longer and varied than that overrated game called Halo. For some reason, everybody says KZ was crap. I honestly can’t find the reasons why. I truly liked it. I’m excited to play the sequel, even without the incredible graphics.

    - Prince of Persia is a great game, that inspires on two masterpieces like ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. For me is the best PoP yet. Is it not so hardcore to some of you? Bad luck then.

    Nintendo pwns.
    What do you say that that Xbotkilla?

  65. Well… well…

    On first place, we can compare Halo 3 with Killzone 2, because Halo 3 was supposed to be a game that uses the 95% of Xbox 360 power.
    Remember that Halo 3 runs at 30FPS MAX, 640p (less with multiplayer, about 500 and half).
    Even with this failure evidence, Halo 3 was sold and too many ppl keeps defending this “game”. I’ll tell you what’s the Microsoft strategy:

    They dont care about games, they dont care about gamers, they dont care about next-gen, they dont care about game research, they just want MONEY.
    The first strategy is Publicity, they put publicity in toilets, on movies, on TV, on internet, everywhere and every day. The second strategy is pay the famous gaming people to talk nice about xbox360, so people thinks it’s a nice console. And the 3rd, get exclusive games.

    That’s the only strategy of MS, they will NEVER research for next-gen games, they follow the Wii line, so you’ll never see an awesome game, just overrated games like the exclusive RPGs.

    Xbox 360 can’t show you an image at 1080p native, read again xbot, NATIVE. Xbox caps at 720p or 1080i.

    The xbox360 games are so easy to make and programm, you’re paying for an easy game that even Wii can load.

    Also, xbox 360 is SLOW, seriously, a slow CPU doesn’t help, and RAM running at 330MHZ? WHAT THE FUCK, that RAM doesnt exist since 2004, PS3 RAM runs at 2.100MHZ, and CPU runs about 10 times faster than xbox.

    About people talking about the first Killzone, who cares, Killzone 2 is being developed with more people, we’ll see a different game.

    Abour Crysis, is overrated, the mapping is ugly and without any shadow, only Trees has shadows… cars doesn’t, houses doesn’t have shadows etc. UGLY game with 1 or 2 new effects to hide the evidence: poor programming. Xbots are easy to impress because they play in a old-gen console *sigh*, They’ll never see a game running at 1080p and 60FPS like Wipeout HD.

    2008 has been the PS3 year, 2009 will be the end of Xbox 360.

  66. wow nextgenuser. Such a long post and almost completely wrong. Just a few pointers:
    Halo3 at 620p. This was done to improve on special effects. The fx from halo3 are impossible in 720p even (especially) on the ps3. It looks more beautiful with a difference in resolution only visible with a magnification lens.

    Microsoft wants money. So does sony. They’re not charity. And given the current state of the ps3 it’s obvious that sony isn’t interested in either games or hardware, only blu-ray.

    Ye ps3 can do native 1080p. Newsflash: it’s not strong enough to do so except in silly flashgames.

    Which brings me to the next point: xbox360 is more powerful than ps3. It’s a given fact doublethunk by most ps3tards.

    Killzone1 was crap. Period

    and 2008 wasn’t the year of the ps3. It wasn’t the year of any console, they all sucked. (pc maybe)

  67. rider of the short bus Says:
    December 30th, 2008 at 10:20 am

    Everything Nextgenuser posted was wrong.
    No console is going to die.
    2008 was the year of the PC. 2009 will be the year of the PC. And every year thereafter.
    Crysis has the most advanced lighting of any game in existence. Crysis is more advanced than any game that will be made on the PS3 or the Xbox 360.
    Wipeout HD was a PSP game that was upscaled to 1080p. The 360 could easily run it at 60 fps. If the PS3 couldn’t, it deserves to be taken out back and shot. And finally, yes, MS wants money. But so does Sony. They don’t care about you. They want your money.

  68. Ah, nothing like a Nextgenuser post to out the PS3fantards as the window lickers they are.

    @Nextgenuser

    “Also, xbox 360 is SLOW, seriously, a slow CPU doesn’t help, and RAM running at 330MHZ? WHAT THE FUCK, that RAM doesnt exist since 2004, PS3 RAM runs at 2.100MHZ, and CPU runs about 10 times faster than xbox.”

    Do you want to perhaps back any of this up with any sort of facts? I’ve read dozens of hardware comparisons between the two systems and in each one the 360 is usually shown to be superior. A few have them pretty much dead even. Nearly none show the PS3 to be superior. And absolutely zero to have the vast gulf of the PS3 being as superior as you say. So any hope of you backing up any of your shit?

    “Xbots are easy to impress because they play in a old-gen console *sigh*, They’ll never see a game running at 1080p and 60FPS like Wipeout HD.”

    You assume that none of us own a PS3. I do, and I can tell you from first hand experience that the superiority of the PS3 that you claim, graphical or otherwise, is a complete and total LIE.

    2007 the PS3 failed, 2008 it managed to lurch to its feet for a last hurrah. 2009, I wouldn’t be surprised if it finally and completely fails.

  69. And I forgot

    @Rider of the short bus

    Really for gaming the PC is crap. You have to make sure that your processor, ram, and video card are no more than a few years old. Making sure to replace them often. Then you have to make sure that your drivers are up to date. You have to hope that you have the right version of DirectX. And sometimes some games won’t like the latest version of DirectX, so sometimes you will have to switch between versions for different games. You have to hope that windows won’t crap out on you. Then you have to tweak with numerous different audio and graphics settings to find the right balance between gameplay and visual quality. And even then you might be stuck with some laggy piece of shit that neither looks nor plays well.

    Or you could buy a console and stick the disc in the tray.

    I agree with upgrading is a pain in the ass, but the tech gets inexpensive quite quickly as well. Also some people tinker with there PC just like a car nut tinkers with there car (and by my experience a PC is way cheaper to boot). Yeah messing with graphic sliders might be a pain in the ass for some, but if you know what you got then you don’t need to worry about it so much, and don’t set the details higher than your system can handle, its that simple.
    Also where can you play HL, Hereos of Might and Magic, Fallout 1-3, Call Of Duty 1-5, Deus Ex, Baldurs Gate, WoW, Diablo, Starcraft, Ultima and many others? And what platform has the best controls for FPS’s and RTS’s, thats right the PC. Sure consoles are great, but PC’s are limitless in potential for tech and games.

    Eyah, I actually like to tinker with my PC and try to get the best performance possible. And you really can’t deny that the PC has the best lineup of games and the best backlog of games available.

  72. Nextgenloser just can’t accept that the PS3 is the new Dreamcast.

  73. @Rider of the short bus

    You need to add a disclaimer or something like.

    And you really can’t deny that the PC has the best lineup of games and the best backlog of games available.*

    *Some games may not be functional on some systems. Your results may vary.

  74. rider of the short bus Says:

    If a game isn’t functional, then it just means you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s not as if there aren’t any resources available to help you learn.

  75. Riiiiight. I don’t think that not having the money to drop $200 on a graphics card is “not knowing what you are doing”.

    But the point remains that there are many factors you have to take into account if you try to foray into PC gaming. None of which need be worried about with console gaming. With a console you know what you are getting, you know the game will work, and it will work the same on your system as any other console of that system.

  76. rider of the short bus Says:
    December 30th, 2008 at 7:38 pm

    Still cheaper than buying a console and an HDTV.

    Still, nothing good in life comes without work.

  77. And when you spend the money on the console you know every game for that system you buy will operate at peak capacity. And not wasting your money on the gambit of just how well it will work on your system.

    I’d rather put my money on a sure thing, and not a gamble. And it applies to not just money, but time as well. Some things in life don’t need work put into them. And if you do so you can over complicate things. And while putting in this work I’m missing out on something good, IE console.

    Sometimes work can distract us from the good things in life.

  78. And to not shift the conversation too far away from Nextgenuser’s lies and falsehoods.

    Yes, the 360 does have 1080p Native. And has for a few months now.

    Once again, it’s not a gamble if you know what you’re doing.

  80. Its always a gamble regardless. Sure you can get a pretty good idea of how its going to run if you play the compare recommended specs with your PC’s specs game. (something you don’t have to do with consoles). And by doing so you can have a pretty fair idea of how it will work on your system. But ultimately the only real way you know just how it will play is to buy it.

    Now I understand that you are like the Hans of PC gaming and all. But for you to outright ignore the fact that games run on PCs have a quality variance between different computers as where no such variance exists with consoles is naive.

    Now you can stick your head in the sand and pretend that all games run the same on all PCs, but don’t expect anyone else to hop on board with that idea.

    @seven2s

    please never compare the Dreamcast to anything ever again. The DC was a gamers machine that will always have a special place in a gamers heart unlike the 360, Wii, and PS3.

  82. @ nextgenuser

    “They dont care about games, they dont care about gamers, they dont care about next-gen, they dont care about game research, they just want MONEY.
    The first strategy is Publicity, they put publicity in toilets, on movies, on TV, on internet, everywhere and every day. The second strategy is pay the famous gaming people to talk nice about xbox360, so people thinks it’s a nice console. And the 3rd, get exclusive games.”

    Wow, douchebag, you just described SONY perfectly.
    They did all those things with the PS2 and look how successful it was, even though it was technically inferior to other consoles at the time.

    The PS3 could have been great but Sony fucked up by trying to make it a multimedia super-computer, instead of focusing on making it a gaming console.

    The PS3 will rally for a bit longer and then die, as it should.

  83. @InfraredChimera: best controls for fps? Give me a 360 controller please. I have way better aim with a stick than the unaccurate thing that is a mouse. Mind you I have a razer copperhead. I just gave up on mouse aim. Analog stick is faster, more accurate and less prone to interference.

    I’ve read a couple of dev interviews on this and they all said the same: match a stick used against an m/kb (equal skill). Stick wins.

  84. RE 5 not only looks better on the 360, but it’s ahead of the PS3 in development. Superior version, only on 360.

    @marnick

    I agree with rider, there is no way that a controller is as pixel perfect than a mouse/kbd combo. When I play a FPS on PC I don’t even need a “aim assist” option to be turned on at all, but on console I have to.
    As far as a stick being faster, you can move your viewpoint as fast as you can move your mouse, and the last time I checked the mouse was faster.

  87. @marnick (you seem to be a popular target…)

    The mouse / keyboard combo is tenfold faster than a stick. The keyboard allows instant access to an entire array of buttons that can be configured to any of the game’s inputs, while your Razer Copperhead at 2,000 dpi is roughly 8x as sensitive as the sensor on a 360 or PS3′s sticks (in both axes).

    The mouse can be used to aim a tiny, tiny bit, or you can sweep it across the table/mat/etc to turn 180 degrees near instantly. Hell, a good gamer learns how far to flick the mouse to aim at someone’s head. They see, they flick, they fire. How many people can do that on a console?

    Here’s one – plug in a 360 controller to a PC and try to play any of the many FPS games designed to work with it. Note that on PC there isn’t any aim assistance. You will phail in a rather epic fashion, especially compared to a mouse. That is, if you know how to use it well.

  88. And now keyboards and mouses, graphic cards… it’s incredible the amount of fail smokescreens you sony haters can pull out at the same time.

    Nobody interested in Killzone 2 anymore? xDDDDDDD

  89. @Xbotkiller

    No one has ever been interested in Killzone 2. After the game is released there still will be no one interested in Killzone 2. A few months after its released no one will even remember it. It is a sequel to a game that failed.

    @Nextgenuser

    And to dissect more of your lies. The 360′s ram runs at 700mhz. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_hardware#Memory_and_system_bandwidth

  90. moderation my ***. Yes I use controller in cs. I can’t expain why, moderation blocks everything out. Since using controller I’m the best player of a good team.

  91. Okay let’s try again. For me it’s better than m/kb and obviously better than every opponent I frag. Read certain dev interviews and you’ll they made the same observation

    @erik

    I tend to disagree with that noone is interested in KZ2. With my time temping for a major videogame store, I can tell you that people are very much interested in it and yes the regular 360 owners that we get in have more than once said, “I would get a PS3 for it if it didn’t cost so damn much”.
    Just because you are not a least bit interested in it, doesn’t mean that noone else is either.
    BTW I’m buying it as well on day one, but I’m going into it with a very critical eye (I’m not going to cut it any slack).

  93. rider of the short bus Says:

    @xbotkiller
    How is talk of graphics cards a smokescreen? I can build a PC for the same price as the PS3 that obliterates it in terms of horsepower.

  94. @InfaredChimera

    Okay, when I say that no one is interested in it I mean that in general. Of course with any game out there there is going to be some interest in it regardless of how bad it or its predecessor sucked. I’m sure if they made a Daikatana 2 there would be a few people waiting on pins and needles for it.

    But as a whole most other people will say, “Hey the original sucked!” And forget about the sequel a few weeks after its released.

  95. @Infrared: I find it funny that so many people on boards work in videogame stores and use their jobs as an argument which coincidently is always constructive to their side of the debate.

    General consensus is that killzone2 is going to suck. There’s not much you can do about it, it’s the fact of the 7th generation. Buying it on day 1 is giving it too much slack to begin with. Be critical and sit it out for a couple of days until the reviews start to hit (not the ign sony sponsored ones)

  96. InfraredChimera Says:

    @marnick

    I’m not using my experience there as arguement, but I did find it interesting though what people did buy. FPS fans are waiting for KZ2 and even if they did play the first one and agreed it was just “meh”, they still are quite interested in KZ2. Alot of middle age to older women (35+) women love Tomb Raider and either bought a 360 or PS3 for the “new” one.
    What else did I observe?
    -SF4 is gaining momentum but generally the crowd that played the previous game.
    -People who generally that have a Wii (especially older males) tend to be regretting there purchase and should’ve gotten a PS3 or 360.
    -360′s and PS2′s are generally traded in for a PS3.
    -50 Cents Bulletproof is still a craptacular game that still gets bought and most people that fit 50s demographic are excited about his new game (now there is a game to be skeptical about, more than KZ2).
    -Cheap games sell very well (duh, but i’m talking about $1-5 games that most of them are garbage).
    -Capcom Vs Marvel 2 for PS2= 79.99 used!!!
    -Chicks dig Shin Megami Tensei games
    I didn’t really pick up a job at gamestop to have a leg to stand on so much, but to see what people like to play and hear how they see games in a broader POV.

  97. Once again Chimera talks out of hir penis/vagina.

  98. Killzone 2 looks awesome!!!! Halo 3 is definitely not full Xbox potential though…
