KILLZONE 2 First Review: Perfect Game Receives Perfect Score

Tell us something we didn’t already know….

Killzone 2 – 5/5

“The buddies alongside you in each battle have been expertly tuned to provide just enough cover and support to actively get your back on occasions, while never making it feel like they could achieve every objective alone.”

“…the believability and consistency are hallmarks of the Killzone 2 expereince. None of the circumstances, weapons you find, locations you visit, or frankly any of the details in the world feel arbitrary. The world is consistently realized in its unappealing flavor.”

“…filled with moments that can handily be described as inspiring awe”

- bots in offline multiplayer “perform pretty well”

“Without a doubt Killzone fans, action, and shooter fans of any stripe will instantly tag this sequel as a powerful contender for the best game of 2009″

Also, before you go spitting out that it got these scores just because its a PS magazine, I suggest you look at the previous exclusives they have reviewed.

Uncharted [80]
Heavenly Sword [80]
Warhawk [65]
GT5P [80]
MotorStorm: PR [60]
Haze [50]

  1. Where did you get that review from? Pulled it straight from your ass?

    I have to admit, my pickup artistry manuals told me that using quotes makes your statements believable. Doesn’t matter who you quote. Even if it is your own statement, use a quote and others will believe it way easier.

  2. First off just where the fuck did this “review” even come from? Secondly, Killzone fans? What all six of them? No, sorry. Sucky sequel to sucky game stills sucks.

  3. First!…. crap. I’m only 3th :(

  4. To erik:

    I hate to tell you, but 2 quotes you see there are real, and is from the PlayStation Magazine.

    go to ps3center dot net to see.

    Erik, you didn’t even play, so GTFO.

    This will be the 2009 game, not like the unexistent IA from Xbox shooters.

    Dont you mean “Non-Existant AI” not “unexistant IA”. Again your statement is Fail nextgenuser. Without AI, the people on the games would not even move. Not following you, giving fire support, piloting vehicles etc.

    From the trailers Ive seen, Killzone 2 looks like its worth picking up, might have to stay at my buddies and blast through it with him on his PS3, I mean the guy couldnt even do Resistance by himself.

  8. No link?
    No scans?
    “perform pretty well”?
    LOL!
    If it’s perfect shouldn’t be
    “perform perfectly”?
    “…the believability and consistency are hallmarks of the Killzone 2 expereince. None of the circumstances, weapons you find, locations you visit, or frankly any of the details in the world feel arbitrary. The world is consistently realized in its unappealing flavor.”
    I’ve read this sort of drivel in countless other reviews. Next!

  9. *reads article*
    *nods confidently*

    *sees first responses*
    *chuckles and shakes head*

  10. I personally would take this review with a load of salt, OPSM gave the original Killzone a perfect score too, and we all know how mediocere that was.
    I’m still quite looking forwards to giving KZ2 a go, mind.

  11. this is not surprising, this game is beyond perfect and can only be done on the ps3 obviously

  12. @Nextgenuser

    I don’t play garbage like Killzone or its worthless sequel if thats what you mean. As for “getting the fuck out” my answer is no.

    Also, “unexistant”? If you are going to reply to me I really have to request that you use real words.

    And finally I have to say: If Killzone 2 is the PS3′s ace in the hole, then Sony is truly fucked. That is like saying that Stephen Hawking is your football team’s secret ringer quarterback. Sad.

    @wildfire15

    at least you are willing to give the game a chance unlike erik here who keeps talking shit about a game he hasen’t even played (or will play).
    If you don’t end up liking it, thats cool but at least you gave it a shot.

  14. @Infaredchimera

    Once again, you don’t need to play every game to know that it will suck. There is a game based on the shit show “Thats so Raven” for fucks sake. Do you REALLY need to play it to know that it sucks? With enough common sense you don’t have to play such shit to see it for shit.

  15. @Infrared: But some people will buy it blindly on the hype instead of waiting until the reviews start to roll. This game has a very high chance of sucking (say about 85%) with 20% chance of being mediocre and 5% of being truly great.

    As I said: I’m not gambling on kz2 (or any hypegame for that matter). I did with gta4 and I regretted it badly.

    Ahaha Wow Trivium, Fanboy much, jeeze. I own all Systems so my opinion is impartial.

    But you Trivial Trivium are seriosly misguided if you think Killzone 2 can only be handled by the PS3. To disregard the Xbox360 and PC is just plain stupid.

    I mean if you take out the copious ammounts of motion blure and remove all the lighting the game really doesnt look that great.

    It looks the way it does mainly due to clever use of lighting and special effects. But the textures are still low qaulity.

    Proof: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BSGY4qxF0kI.

  17. @chaos_deception: learn2sarcasm. Trivium was obviously jokingly imitating sdf (at least I hope so)

    “3th”, eh? – The power of Blu-Ray lets you make up new words.

  20. Wow, my comments were deleted, I guess I called SDF’s integrity too much into question!

    This over-hyped game is like the rest of the POS3′s over-hyped games, failures!!

    On a side not, 28 million 360′s sold to date as of December 2008, POS3 not even close!!

    It Ends!

  21. To RainbowSeven: 3rd, okay? Are you happy?

    This is the age of the leets, or l33ts, who cares about spelling man? you know, ‘u Liek Mudkip’ and all?

    And I don’t have a Blu-Ray.

    @marnick

    What i’m planning on doing is to reserve KZ2, get the demo, and if I like what I played then I will buy it. If I don’t, then I will cancel my reservation and get something else like FEAR 2.

  23. InfraredChimera Says:
    January 6th, 2009 at 2:31 pm

    ^^^^

    Now FEAR 2 is a game I’m actually have been waiting for since playing the first one. I knew the complaint about it (the bland environments), but it worked for the context of the story and always felt that the game got a unfairly lower score because of it. Then again what do I know :P

  24. The only PS3 game I’m looking forward to (as much as I can look forward to anything on that inferior system) is InFamous.

    I’ll say it again: If PS3 fans are so game deprived that they are looking forward to the sequel of a shit game then the PS3 is really and truly fucked. But for that I am glad. Only by Sony failing horribly can the PS4 ever hope to live up to the PS2.

  25. InfraredChimera Says:
    January 6th, 2009 at 9:34 pm

    @erik

    InFamous does look like it and hopefully be good and I got full confidence that Sucker Punch can pull it off (I did like the Sly Cooper games quite a bit). I am looking forward to getting SF4 for the ps3 just for the simple reason that the 360′s d-pad is absoulutly horrible for a fighting game.

  26. @Infrared: I played the demo of fear and was totally persuaded. I bought the game but was unable to play it properly due to my outdated pc at the time. I had it waiting for over 3 months until I upgraded my graka and memory. I really liked the game BUT the environments killed it for me.
    It was constantly more of the same. Same mobs, same locations (I think there were only three: container yard, indoor factory, indoor office).
    The army of CLONES didn’t help too much either. I mostly played it to see the next instance of the red little girl. She wasn’t enough to hold my attention for more than 2 levels though.

    Seeing as how they gave Haze and Lair both 50s let’s grade this in a reverse bell curve.

    Uncharted [80] ==> 50
    Heavenly Sword [80] ==> 50
    Warhawk [65] ==> 35
    GT5P [80] ==> 50
    MotorStorm: PR [60] ==>30
    Haze [50] ==> 20 (trying be generous)
    Lair [50] ==> 20 (again, being generous)
    Resistance 2 [80] ==> 50

    Killzone 2 [5/5] ==> [3.5/5]
    Highest rated game for PS3. Sure, but still not saying much compared to the library or hits the 360 has.

  28. Dude with the absurdly long name – forgive me for being slightly forgiving to the ‘enemy’ here, but Haze scores 55% in Metacritic, and Lair is 53%. SDF bashes the entire rest of the Internet for being biased against the PS3. Please, please don’t give them another excuse to continue to clog our tubes with such claims. Also, is it worth degrading yourself to SDF’s level? Surely we can accept that OPSM enjoyed KZ2. After all, sequels to games have been massively different to their precursors. Look at how well known Total Annihilation was, and compare that to Supreme Commander. Or we can compare Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 to RCT 3. 3 was, let’s face it, something of a fail. It is possible for different games in a series to meet different fates.

    Erik, this is aimed at you as well.

    In fact, anyone who is so heart-set on ‘[Game name] 1 was shit so [name of sequel] must be shit too! I don’t see why I should waste my time trying a demo or reading reviews of something that it absolutely guaranteed to be a turd’ is, not to put too fine a point on it, a fuckwit.

    Just as you get better at a game each time you play it, a dev can get better each time they fuck up.

    Now I’m not going to say KZ2 is guaranteed to be an excellent game in anyone’s particular opinion. I’m just saying that it isn’t guaranteed to be a phail.

  29. @Aranthos

    “After all, sequels to games have been massively different to their precursors.”

    Thats true. Generally sequels suck in comparison to their predecessor. This generally goes for both movies and games. So if the original Killzone sucked, and boy did it, then it stands to reason that Killzone 2 with be a massive shitstorm.

  30. Aranthos: First: you point out 2 games of which the sequels were worse (TA and RCT). We all know that the general trend of sequels is of a degrading quality. Especially the second installment of the series. This counts for movies (the matrix), games (halo) and books (sword of death). It even counts for music in a way (wheatus). KZ2 has an unnaturally large chance of sucking and certain console owners (pc, wii, xbox) don’t accept or risk that chance.

  31. What I’m basically saying is: if killzone2 is the saviour of the ps3, well that says alot of the ps3 library. There’s tons of good games on the horizon so why focus on a potentially (80%) bad game?

  32. Wait, wait, wait. This can’t be right. You gave perfect tens to almost every game on that list, and now you pretty much admit that they’re not as good as you said?

    They gave 50/100 to Lair AND Haze! How can you trust them with this game?

  33. @jiblah: gratz at stating the obvious. I saw this the first time I read it but I didn’t think it was worth mentioning.

  34. Well I’m definitely hope it’s as good as he says, or better, cause I am sick of ruling people in call of duty series. No one will be able to deny the game looks sicker than ANYTHING EVER even crysis. Anyone who says crysis’s better cause “pc gaming is better! I have 4000 dollars to spend every other year to upgrade and set all my sliders to extra high blah blah” you’re a fucking moron/

    I play on my ps3 cause I love it. I have never owned a 360/wii. I respect the 360′s GAMES not the system. I have had a decent pc most of my life. Get off my dick. PS3 forever!!! until ps4.

  36. Fallout3 on pc looks better on pc than killzone2 on ps3. And that’s on a mid-end laptop.

  37. you’re a fucking retard marnick suck my dick.

  38. @Kanerilis

    I own a PS3 and I still think that it is an overpriced shitstorm which is trying to rely more on style over substance.

    I downloaded Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on the Playstation Network. THAT is when Sony meant something. The graphics weren’t that great, even at that time, but still it was and is an awesome play. And the PS/PS2 had a massive library of equally good titles.

    Now they make people wait months on a single title which might not suck too much if you are lucky, but hey! It has purty graphics.

    “I own a PS3 and I still think that it is an overpriced shitstorm which is trying to rely more on style over substance”.

    It has ever been thus. – SCE managed to use slick marketing to bullshit fucktard parents and tweenies into thinking Sony consoles were “For Adults”.
    It’s taken three iterations of GayStation consoles but people are finally learning: Sony does not give a fuck about you, nor do they give a fuck about games. They want your MONEY. Period.

  41. fuck you animekid, I pop in from time to time, so go suck a fat one.
    Fuck you other two , OBViously they want my money what company wouldn’t? The games are coming shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down. it’s not overpriced dipshits. Get ready for the gaming revolution bitches!

  42. @Kanerilis

    Are you being intentionally obtuse? Of course it’s overpriced. Perhaps you are some stupid kid who had the system bought for him by his stupid yuppie parents and never saw the price tag, I don’t know. But even now at $400 it is still overpriced. And that is why Sony is floundering this console cycle. Sony itself has admitted that the console isn’t doing as well as they would have hoped.

    As an aside, I really would hope that the “gaming revolution” would offer more than just “hurr hurr purty graphix”. But the system has been out for, what, 2 years now hasn’t it? If it hasn’t brought a revolution by now it isn’t going to. Yeah I’m sure you buy into SDF’s constant claims of it “it” constantly “beginning”. But its pretty obvious at this point it isn’t going to happen.

    Holy shit!! A big corporation that wants to make money, that doesn’t care about the consumer but the bottom line. Who would’ve thought (especially in this day and age).
    Maybe besides Sony, you should look at Nintendo, MS, Apple, Verizon, GE, Hollywood movie studios, Dell, Wal-Mart, and thats just to name a few.
    For fucks sake get your head outta your ass and learn something before you make a idiotic comment such as the one above.

    I’m not saying other corporations don’t have similar motives but Sony are the absolute worst for it. They are lying, greedy, manipulative, arrogant leeches on the gaming market. Sony has not done one good thing for the videogaming community. Even M$ has had a more positive influence on gaming, through their mainstreaming of online play, a.k.a. Xbox Live.
    Anyone who sucks Sony’s cock as hard as you do must be mentally retarded.

  47. To InfraredChimera:

    I was just bored and thought I’d have a little fun, sorry.

  48. To InfraredChimera:

    And DO **NOT** say “Its just words”. Some people can’t take it, and could do bad things because of words.

  49. Words are can be more painful than a titanium blade. At least the wounds from the blade heal. Many wounds inflicted by words won’t heal in a lifetime.

  50. Does being called gay really freak you out that much Zoar? I noticed that you resorted to attempting to call me that when you found out that I was not a graphics whore like you think I should be. But I couldn’t help wondering why you couldn’t come up with a better insult than that. But it struck me that perhaps its because its something that would work against you.

  51. InfraredChimera Says:
    January 11th, 2009 at 11:42 am

    @zoar

    Sure words can be hurtful and downright uncalled for, but in all honesty, being called something hurtful to someones face is a thousand times more hurtful than being called a “faggot” on some forum. Thats what I can’t figure out about people today, they’re all soft skinned, politically correct, idiots. And don’t dare to offend anyone or you will end up in court because you farted in a public space and the smell made the person sueing you sick to the stomach. One word for that: Pussies (whoops I shouldn’t had said that, I might have offended someone).

    @erik
    Damn you’re more than a hypocrit, you also a dick.

  52. Dick Turpin == erik? :o

  53. To erik: I’m sorry for calling you gay, I didn’t think you would be offended by it. For what it worth, I think you’re a very, uh, Heterosexual guy…. I guess.

    In fact, I think you’re the best guy to talk to in SDF.

    To InfraredChimera: Okay, but what about youtube videos?

  54. @Zoar

    Okay, yeah so you misunderstand. I wasn’t offended by it. I was actually amused that you resorted to such a paltry insult in response to me not giving a flying fuck about graphics. But it did make me wonder about you. You know generally the people who use such insults, or just make homophobic rants really come off as kind of closeted.

  55. To erik: Like I said, I was bored. animekid3515 didn’t offend me; his post was the only thing I wanted to reply to. All you other guys do is talk about the same thing , over and over again. You don’t want to talk about new tech, new games, new ideas; just the same old, same old.

    Like with you: Why wouldn’t you try KillZone 2, erik? You played FPS before, right? You have a PS3? I find it stupid that you hate KillZone 2 without even trying it. If you don’t want to play it then why are you talking about it?

    If you really want a bad game to talk about, then play x-com 4: Interceptor.

  56. To erik:
    Oh and the reason why I couldn’t come up with a better insult, is because I *don’t* want to insult anyone. I just don’t have it in me.

  57. InfraredChimera Says:
    January 11th, 2009 at 4:23 pm

    @zoar

    Yeah I agree with on X-Com: Interceptor, that was its own breed of suck.
    As far as YouTube videos of some idiots making misinformed and hateful shit, then don’t watch it. Everyone has a choice to listen, watch, read or play;and if you don’t like it then don’t search for it or simply ignore it. It’s really that simple, but then again I really don’t give a shit what anyone thinks about me in the first place, nor do I care what is said about me in general.
    Don’t worry about erik, he will try KZ2, he said less than a year ago that he would never buy a PS3 and he did anyway, so there is no believing that he won’t try it at all.
    Also if you wanna play a pretty good game and its free, then i suggest looking for a game called Spelunky. It doesn’t take much to run it, but damn its hard but VERY FUN!

  58. Well that leaves me as the only person true to his belief that ps3 and kz2 are not worth their money. I will not buy one unless it is priced less than a contemporary 360. Several reasons: 360 has better games, better hardware and better OS software (especially now with the nxe). Why would I pay twice the price for a console which is worse than one which I have already? I’d rather buy a second 360, one for home one for my dorm.

  59. @Zoar

    “You don’t want to talk about new tech, new games, new ideas; just the same old, same old.”

    Rather I’m not a slack jawed moron who gawps at some insipid trailer of a game with “purtiful grapix.” You just have to come to terms with the fact that not everyone is as easily impressed as you are.

    “Why wouldn’t you try KillZone 2, erik?”

    Because its the sequel to a shit pile. Would you play X-com 5? I’m guessing that even if you say you would that you still wouldn’t.

    Shit game = Shit sequel. This isn’t rocket science.

    @InfaredChimera

    “Don’t worry about erik, he will try KZ2, he said less than a year ago that he would never buy a PS3 and he did anyway, so there is no believing that he won’t try it at all.”

    Yes I did make that mistake. And to further the mistake the first game I bought for my PS3 was Resistance: Fail of Man. Dear sweet crap that game sucked hard.

  60. @Zoar

    Something I missed:

    “Oh and the reason why I couldn’t come up with a better insult, is because I *don’t* want to insult anyone. I just don’t have it in me.”

    For not “having it in you” you seem to resort to it rather quickly. Just because I’m not a graphics whore then I must be “gay”? Uh-huh, sure.

  61. erik quote: For not “having it in you” you seem to resort to it rather quickly. Just because I’m not a graphics whore then I must be “gay”? Uh-huh, sure.

    I always thought gay people had more sense for style and nice things? Strange.

  62. To erik: Look, what do you want from me? I have other things to do, you know?

    I don’t like being called a “gay” in the SAME way I don’t like called a “moron”, “zoophile”, or “pedophilia”. But of course, you’re not going to believe me, so why should I even try.

    I don’t like gays, you know why? BECAUSE THEY BITCH ABOUT EVERYTHING!!! Like in that movie 300, when King Leonidas said: “and if those philosophers and boy-lovers have found that kind of nerve….” Guess who complain about that seen the most? It wasn’t NAMBLA, that’s for sure.

    Oh, and erik? I take back everything nice I said about you. You’re just a Troll.

    To marnick:

    You never seen a Joel Schumacher (Batman Forever) movie, have you?

  63. And I did played X-COM 5, it was called Enforcer.

    Each X-COM game was different. It had gameplay like you never had before. Even today, there’s still nothing like it.

    I didn’t just hate Interceptor because of it’s bad gameplay; I hated it because it was made as a huge joke. It made references all the way from Star Trek to- and I’m not joking here -Beavis and Butt-Head. It made Jar Jar Binks look like the Terminator.

  64. So anyways, did anyone see THE SPIRIT? That was a great movie! Most fun I had in months!

  65. InfraredChimera Says:
    January 12th, 2009 at 4:58 pm

    @zoar

    Nah i didn’t see The Spirit in the theater, but I do want to see it though. I will just wait for it on DVD like I do for all the movies I see nowadays. But I will make see the Watchmen in the theater if I ever get a chance or have the money.
    But I just watched Wanted, and goddamn that movie was such a good garbage movie, I loved it.

  66. @Zoar

    After your psychotic little rant there you call ME the troll? But I do confess I was trying to draw such a trollish-rant out of you because I can see it just below the surface.

    And as far as taking back the “nice” things you’ve said about me, I’m glad. What would it say about me to be liked by someone like you?

    Finally you know who complains more than the gay people? They people who hate the gay people. Now get back to Westboro tyke.

  67. Gay people are actually pretty fun. Got a few gay friends and they’re awesome (both male and female). Gay males are generally more pleasant to talk with and gay females is a whole new breed of humans, and a good one at that. Anyways Zoar’s blatant insulting language and trollish behaviour is not something commonly found with gay people so I guess it’s safe to assume that Zoar is either completely straight or closeted.

  68. Whatever.

    I’m all for gay marriage, not that you would believe me.

    You’re the ones to talk. Every time I come here you two (marnick and erik) complain and complain about the PS3 and give fanboys a bad name. who’s the bigger troll here? I thought you were joking, but I’m beginning to wonder….

    Its an editorial, therefore it’s an opinion and not a fact. While it was a interesting read (coming from someone that does clearly have a bias) and all, mostly becuase it sounds like a ranting fanboy like erik. While the author does bring up facts that are true, but he clearly hasen’t done any research into what is coming out on the horizon for the PS3. Granted we don’t know what MS has to show so far, but right now I’m more excited for what Sony has lined up moreso than MS or Nintendo.
    BTW this is just my opinion.

  71. @InfraredChimera:

    Yeah, but, doesn’t it feel like Sony showed its best hand in 2008 and now they mostly have nothing? With the Xbox selling for 199$ now, I have little hope for Sony for this year.

    Sure, there’s God of Wars III, but that’s about it.

    “Every time I come here you two (marnick and erik) complain and complain about the PS3 and give fanboys a bad name. who’s the bigger troll here? I thought you were joking, but I’m beginning to wonder….”

    Yes, I hate the PS3. Your point being? Furthermore I’m not the one who went off on some gay-hate rant now am I?

    The PS3 is shit. But despite being shit it can squeeze out a few good games. MGS4 (despite not being as good as MGS3) and LBP are two such games. Killzone 2 will NOT be one of the games to break out of the shit mold. Really, focusing on this game really makes the PS3′s library look worse than it really is. Sony needs all the help it can get, and shit like this is only going to sink the ship faster.

    Though that might not be a terrible thing.

    InFamous definitly comes to mind, Heavy Rain, Rachet and Clank, Uncharted 2, FLOWer, KZ2, and Fat Princess. Those have got my interest at the moment for the PS3.
    The only game that has my interest on the 360 is a freakin cross platform title, but at least its COD:MW 2.

  74. InfraredChimera Sorry negro-fag, but by the SDF standard, it’s FACT! Go QQ up your own butthole!

  75. And Fat Princess? If it was a Wii game, you little Sony fags would be shitting on it.

  77. Sorry Xbots, Sony is winning 2009.

    Having exclusive Demos means nothing, we want the GAME, not the DEMO.

    Killzone 2 is impossible to run on Xbox360.

  78. @Nextgenuser

    “Killzone 2 is impossible to run on Xbox360.”

    First off, no 360 player wants shit like that on their system. You can keep your shit sequels to shit games thank you very much.

    Secondly, just what are you basing it being impossible to run on the 360 off of? Did you ever think of backing it up with, you know, facts? You PS3 fantards said that MGS4 was impossible to run on the 360, until Kojima set you little punks straight.

  79. I’m critical of 1 game with a horrible legacy. Makes me the fanboy? Talk about hypocrite

    Have you played KZ2 (strictly KZ2, playing the first game doesn’t count)?

    Have you ever played a game where the first one was fantastic but the sequel was crap? (I can think of game series to come to mind)

  81. @InfaredChimera

    No I have not played Killzone 2. I try to avoid playing shit. Mind you I’m not perfect and I do make mistakes. Such as playing Fall of Man. But on the whole I make my effort to not play shit.

  82. InfraredChimera Says:
    January 15th, 2009 at 7:48 pm

    @erik

    “No I have not played Killzone 2″

    So shut up about the goddamn game already. You haven’t played it (neither have I) so how do you know its even shit? Because you don’t, thats why.
    So how in the hell can you honestly say what games are shit and which are not? I have played shit games before, everyone has, but at least I can give a game a chance. Sure I won’t play a Barbie game (since thats not aimmed for us), but even as mediocre KZ1 was, I will hold my opinion of KZ2 (or any game that interests me) untill I have played it.

  83. @InfaredChimera

    Right. Anyways to put things more simply, how you feel about the Barbie games which you will not play is exactly how I feel about KZ2. I also never played the Kriss Kross game for the Sega CD. Even so I’m pretty confident in my estimation of it sucking.

    Honestly, you don’t have to try every game in existence like you seem to believe. Sometimes a mote of common sense is adequate.

  84. @Infrared: look I can understand you getting annoyed by me and erik calling kz2 suckage. You have to understand that with our limited time on this planet (about 20 000 days) we are quite selective about which things to spend our time on. I love playing games but all in all I only play for a couple of hours a day. Moreso I only buy 1 game per month.
    This means that only the best games will enter my house. Killzone2 will not be a top 12 game for 2009 (one for each month) so I will not buy it. Furthermore I will not even try it. I’ve got enough games worthy of my time that still need finishing.

  85. InfraredChimera Says:
    January 16th, 2009 at 6:36 pm

    @marnick

    I can understand a limited income, but what gets me annoyed is when people (not just you and erik) say a game sucks (or a band, movie, book) without actually not having no experience with it. I know erik will say, “you don’t have to try every game to know it if its good or not, just common sense is adequate.”, which I agree with to a extent, but there is no reason why to rag on game that either; 1. you don’t own or 2. basing a your opinion on game that you “think” will suck, but you honestly don’t know for sure.

  86. @InfaredChimera

    Hey, can you do me a favor and play this: http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=7846

    You know common sense should be enough to tell you it would suck serious amounts of balls. But we aren’t allowed to use common sense now are we?

  87. To InfraredChimera:

    Why do you bother with those two sulking, whiny faggots? (Oh no! I said the Other-f-word! I must be an evil Nazi! Can’t…. Stop…. Myself…. Seig Heil! SEIG HEIL! LONG LIVE ADOLF HITLER!!!!!! I MUST GROW A TOOTHBRUSH MOUSTACHE AND LISTEN TO LINKIN PARK!!!!)

    Those are the type of people who would never read a Dune book because they think it’s too boring. They’re right, it is boring, but it doesn’t make them smarter for not trying.

    KillZone 2 isn’t Dune, but hearing them whining about it over and over again isn’t going to help.

    So I ask you my friend, if your life were the prize, would you sacrifice–Oops, sorry. I mean why bother talking to them anymore? It’s never going to help. So why bother?

  88. InfraredChimera Says:

    Of all the fucking games you pick, its the one game I bought for my daughter for christmas (who is 4)! I play it with her because she thinks its fun but I sit there bored and play it with her because thats what a dad does. It sucks but she has a blast with it and thats all that matters to me. BTW she also has started to play Kirby for the NES and she does like that as well.

    @zoar

    Really I’m just a really positive person when it comes to games and I really don’t want to see a shit game(s) to be made. Also I try to be very fair to the games I play, I don’t judge the game based upon console its on, who developed/published it, type of game, or any of those factors untill I have had my hands on it first hand. While I won’t play a game that doesn’t appeal to me, I won’t trash it at the same time because thats not a fair thing to do. Yes I did play Barbie Island Princess, its not for me and I found it quite dull, but for a 4 year old girl its fucking brilliant to them. Hell I found Kingdom Hearts to be “meh” but I do see why people like it and it did nothing for me at all.
    I guess being a person who subscribes to “don’t knock it untill you try it” is found to be somewhat of a idiot with no common sense. Really who knocks a game before even trying it? Even more than that, who buys a console they vow never to buy and end up buying it anyway and say it was the biggest waste of money and knowing that they won’t like it even after buying it? (I wonder why would someone buy something they know they won’t like? Seems like a lack of common sense to me.)

  89. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a low income. I just don’t waste heaps of money on random games. Some people are content to pay 65€ for kz2 or any other subpar game like haze or too human but I don’t. I don’t need every game in existance to feel good. Just the best of the best suffices.

    I repeat: KZ2 has a horrible legacy and that alone will make me not buy it. If you can’t understand that then go play it for all I care. I won’t, because the chance of it sucking is too high for me to invest in.

  90. InfraredChimera Says:
    January 17th, 2009 at 8:00 am

    @marnick

    What I don’t understand is there multible ways to actually play the game without actually buying it. You could always either rent, download the demo, or barrow it from a friend. I know all the crap the game has received in the past such as the doctored photos, but all that doesn’t mean squat to me at all. I just simply want to play the game and judge it for myself. But like I keep on saying, you don’t know if the game is good or not because you haven’t played it yet and yet you convinced yourself its crap already with no proof to back your argument up.

  91. Fucks sake. Two comments stuck in moderation land. Okay, cliff notes versions of the comments.

    InfaredChimera, You want to know who would knock a game before they try it? People with common sense.

    Zoar, I don’t take offense to being called a faggot. I already explained this. If you want to insult me then call me a PS3 player.

    Maybe you didn’t read or don’t get it, the Hotel for Dogs game isn’t aimmed for us and therefore I won’t play it. I don’t know if its a good game or not, so I can’t give a informed opinion on it. No I won’t play it but I won’t knock it either. Yes I do read reviews and go by those to get other peoples opinions on the game in question, so that will give me the information that I seek for it.
    Have you ever played Devil May Cry2? I did and bought it since I loved the first one and I ended up wondering “what the fuck is this shit, it boring and sucks at the same time!”. So yes a sequel can be shit and then why can’t it be vice versa potentially with KZ2?

  94. @InfaredChimera

    Maybe YOU didn’t read or don’t get it. Killzone 2 isn’t aimed at me and therefore I won’t play it.

    But yes, as you have just noticed, sequels are quite often inferior to their predecessor. Its nearly like, a law or something. Note: This does not bode well for Killzone 2. The first one was shit, so if it falls into the curse of sequels then it will be severe shit.

  95. To erik:

    Your a PS3 player! Happy? :)

  96. @Zoar

    Very good. Now maybe someday you will be able to come up with your own insults without anyone holding your hand.

  97. nnnnnnnno, I think I’ll keep calling you gay. It feels much better.

    Besides, there’s nothing wrong with being a PS3 player. If God didn’t want PS3 players, then why did he make them?

    @marnick
    How can you compare kz1 to kz2? the ps2 wasn’t really a fps system so why would you compare? The only good fps on ps2 was red faction1&2 and deus ex.

  102. So if kz1 was not a good fps, why is everyone hyped on the sequel? I always thought sequels were for existing fans but I can’t imagine anyone left liking the original. Ofcourse most sequels attract new fans but it’s almost like kz2 has only new fans and no oldtimers. We can almost call kz2 a new IP.

    Ofcourse I’m not stupid enough to fall into the hypetrap. As infrared said: FEAR2 is where my money goes (amongst others)

  103. InfraredChimera Says:
    January 18th, 2009 at 8:49 am

    @marnick

    KZ1 was really just a mediocre FPS, you know, just standard fare. It isn’t horrible as a game like Turning Point was but it wasn’t no COD either.

    I think what was the thing that got me with KZ was its universe. While the game was “take it or leave it”, the whole backstory to the game was actually pretty interesting. To sum it up it was a WW2 game set in the future and instead of Nazis it was the Helghast. And not only that I like that gritty futuristic sci-fi just like Warhammer 40k.

    While playing through KZ1, you can see there’s the ground work for a good solid FPS there, unfortunatly maybe because of pressure from sony to release it when Halo 2 came out, or not enough power under the PS2s hood, or just maybe the dev’s where getting there feet wet, I don’t know.

    Also what version of FEAR2 are you planning on getting? Interesting side note about FEAR 2, it will come with a slip case that yours truly worked on (I lost my shit when I saw the brass embossing plates that said “F.E.A.R 2″ backwards).

  104. @InfaredChimera

    “I think what was the thing that got me with KZ was its universe. While the game was “take it or leave it”, the whole backstory to the game was actually pretty interesting.”

    Oh hey, there we go. If we combine Killzone with Uncharted we might have a complete good game.

    Yes, I said it. Uncharted sucks ass. The story was actually pretty fantastic. But everything that wasn’t a cut scene was pretty tripe, especially the combat. I found the fights very very boring.

  105. I’ll go for a secondhand version of fear2 a month after release.

    One fun game to play is “the game”. It’s the primary reason I can only play one game a month. I love that game

  106. The only FEAR PS3 fanboys have is that Maxim and CGREVIEWS is right about KZ2 not being the best game ever!

  107. InfraredChimera Says:
    January 19th, 2009 at 7:01 pm

    @seven2s

    1. When did Maxim ever have any creditable source for game reviews? Shit that same issue gave the new 50 Cent game a higher review than SF4 (and we both know that is wrong on so many levels).

    2. According to the critics (and myself included) a 87 percent is in the buy category (80% or higher for me, 80% or below is a rent)

  108. 87 is buy if it’s your type of game, don’t buy if there’s other games you like more. 90+ is where the games become mustbuy regardless of prefered genre.

    Blame it on the review inflation. Ten years ago gta4 would have never got 97%. Such a mediocre game :/

  109. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages4/928377.asp

    ‘s funny…

    OPM US KZ2 Review – 5/5 aka 100% aka “perfect”
    OPM UK KZ2 Review – 9/10 aka 90% aka “Not Perfect”

    It’s their own bloody mag, and they can’t call it a 10?

    I’m not suggesting they should lie, but it obviously puts a dent in the SDF story…

  110. The UK magazine is lying obviously, they want to dim the console war in advance because they know, once kz2 goes live (no pun intended) the war will be over.

    So they give it a 9 even though it deserves a 10.

  111. Besides a ten doesn’t mean a game is perfect. It means a game is revolutionary enough and brings enough refreshing ideas to the table that it’s flaws pale in comparison to the good stuff.

    Bioshock getting a 10 wouldn’t make it perfect. However bioshock has many outstanding qualities making it’s flaws not worthy enough to put a dent to the score.

    KZ2 getting a 10 is basically fanboyism

  112. @marnick

    “The UK magazine is lying obviously, they want to dim the console war in advance because they know, once kz2 goes live (no pun intended) the war will be over.”

    Didn’t you Sonyfantards say the same thing about MGS4? Months after and the PS3 has yet to end the war, or really take any dominant lead in the console war. Or even get Sony out of its severe economic downhill slide it is in.

    And that is taking into account that MGS4 was actually an okay game. And taking into account that its predecessors were phenomenal games.

    So you think the sequel to a suck game will end the console war when one of the greatest properties in gaming couldn’t?

    Please. Get a clue.

  113. /sarcarm, obviously. Erik didn’t get it

  114. I hear it’s amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hari-kari rock. I need scissors! 61!

  115. In my estimation, more misery has been created by reformers than by any other force in human history. Show me someone who says “Something must be done!” and I will show you a head full of vicious intentions that have no other outlet. What we must strive for always! is to find the natural flow and go with it.

  116. The Chase has fascinated humankind from the beginning, and with good reason. What many failed
    to understand, however, was that there could be the excitement of the chase even where the only
    thing you were chasing was an idea, a concept, a theory. As awareness developed, it became
    apparent that this was the most important chase of all, the one upon whose outcome all of
    humankind survives or fails.

  117. Can I have some of that stuff too zoar?

  118. “GamePro – 80

    Bigger, badder and better than the first, Resistance 2 improves upon the formula set by its predecessor in almost every way. Unfortunately, a handful of minor issues, such as less than stellar graphics, keep this game from reaching the high bar set by competing titles like “Call of Duty 4″ and “Gears of War 2.”"

    An 80, that makes it a rental, maybe. For all the hype and the POS3 anti-Halo morons saying it’s a Halo killer, keep dreaming. But, at least you finally have a decent FPS to play on the expensive movie player!

    To me thats just messed up and boggles the mind.

  128. @nextgenmexican: “and if possible judge it on its predessesors, If I had a PS3, I would go out and buy KZ2. ”

    Why do you contradict yourself? Judge the predecessor, kz1 was below any standards. But you’re buying kz2?

    I was talking to a friend with a ps3 and asked him wether he’d buy kz2. He said he had bought kz1 and something was terribly wrong with it although it looked like a decent shooter. He isn’t interested in kz2 as should every person with a decent iq (this ps3 owner is studying for engineer so he can make intelligent judgements)

  129. @nextgenmexican

    How many games do I own?

    360 – about 30: including GoW1/2, Halo1/2/3, COD4/WaW, Fable2, Fallout3, Bioshock, Lego star wars, Jones, etc.

    Wii – about 20 (30+ game cube games) and my kids play the wii the most: including Mario Kart, Smash, Zelda, Metroid, etc.

    POS3 – about 4 : LBP, Uncharted, Ratchet, SW – the force unleashed. MGS4 sucked, 10 minute cut scenes, 5 minutes of play

    Out of all three, the 360 is played 90% of the time, the Wii 9 % and the POS3 1% (mostly used for Flu-ray).

    Also, HD-DVD was the better standard and allowed for regular DVD to be on the flip side. Phony wants people to have to buy both the hi-def and regular versions (double-dipping jerks that they are).

    $ony indeed needs to fall hard, the need a reset to their over-inflated egoes!

    A patch for Gears 2 is almost here, fixing some the issues mentioned here. It is still one of the best FPS games on any console (Halo and COD4 beeing better), with KZ2 being unproven. Also, where is the graphically superior POS3 the $ony fantards keep talking about? Gears2 still looks better than KZ2, even with the doctored CGI trailers!

    KZ2 is indeed a rental according to most reviews.

    @zoar

    I have always liked the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books and well try to read them once a year. Otherwise its some Tom Clancy (which The Hunt for Red October movie got me interested in his work, but I was only 11 at the time when it was released in theaters), a little Stephen King and that does it for fiction.
    I do like local history and world history as well, but I have gotten into politics quite a bit in the last 5-6 years of my life, so I do read a quite a bit about that as well (from both republicans and democrats, as knowing both sides of the issue is whats needed to make a informed opinion).
    Believe it or not the best book that I have ever read (albeit hard to understand, but so worth it) was Dantes Inferno. It’s such a interesting read that it stuck with me for some reason, but its such a experience that noone can recreate.

  149. The best book I’ve got my hands on thus far is House of Leaves. Incredibly good book and outstanding use of layout options. It’s one of the books I try to read at least once every 2 years or so.

    ::looks at wiki….again:: Double Gee! I can’t stand those *RACISM ARE BAD* stories. They always paint characters in Black & White strokes.

    Maybe it’s better then I imagine it to be, but I’m a fantasy guy, so I’m Not going to be reading it any time soon. But Thanks anyway.

    As for myself:

    I like books that:

    1. That talks about ideas, and show both sides of the story. (H. G. Wells, Frank Herbert)

    2. Talks about Sci-Fi as if it really *could* happen. (H. G. Wells)

    3. Shows us worlds beyond your imagination (L. Frank Baum’s Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz(But there is some big parts I don’t like at all))

    But if I had to pick one, (that isn’t Dune) then The Time Machine would be it. It makes me feel like I could really be there with the Morlocks and all.

  153. Ye it’s quite a difficult book to read. I can imagine it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But there’s pages with 5 stories going on and keeping track of everything is really cool. Especially because the stories intertwine in a way.

  154. Hello? can anyone hear me?

  155. If somebody doesn’t reply back soon, then…. I Will KILL someone!!!

    Helloooooo?
