Honestly, this has been the biggest letdown so far…
I cant even begin to describe how disappointed I am with this game thus far…
For a minute I actually thought that Sony cared about the PS3 and was going to release two outstanding unbeatable titles. When Killzone didn’t live up to they hype (other then the visuals), I thought “well there still is God of War III”, yet this seems to be another huge letdown. Unless a miracle happens, I cant help but feel that God of War III will be a “comparable” hack and slash title, not the definitive one.
Well we can at least hope that Blizzard releases Diablo III for 360 and PS3. If that happens it wont matter how good or bad God of War does
Will it be full of glitches and screen-tearing like GOW 1 and 2? Probably. They should stick to what the machine can actually handle, rather than selling a faulty product.
Since the first two God of War games are awesome, I can honestly say this game is going to be just as good if not better than those two. There is no argueing with MY deductive reasoning skills at all. I’m right, you guys are wrong. End of story. (also I was making fun and being sarcastic as well. But seriously I want to play GoW3 since I did enjoy the first two.)
@fiffer86
I sure do hope that Diablo 3 gets released for the 360 and PS3, because my piece of crap PC can’t even run WoW.
Unlike Killzone 2 I’m not going to completely dismiss this game. The first God of War held my attention for about half the game before it bored me to tears. Ergo this game could prove to be an amusing rental but not much more.
So is there any gameplay footage for this game yet? I mean the FMV was really pretty and all, but I’m interested in the gameplay. I know that a PS3 owner being interested in gameplay is an oddity, rather than just orgasming over the graphics of a FMV, but I think that the most interesting part of games is the playing part.
After 2 years of searching at looking at local game stores, I’ve finally have got my hands on Gradius 5!!! I can’t wait to have a game hand me my ass, and I’m going to enjoy every single minute of it!
Couple days til SF4 and KZ2, been playing L4D and Odin sphere(hard) And all some people can do is cry cry cry cause they have so much hate for a system. OMG get over it. SDF just gave you xbots a week of Word raping.
How is Odin Sphere? I heard that it was a very good action-rpg but didn’t sell too well.
@erik
Have you actually tried any of the games that the PSN has to offer? If your looking for games for the PS3 then try Super Stardust HD, Crash Commando, Lumines Supernovea, or WipeOut HD. I know I’m going to be called out on being “bias” but the PSN Store does have alot more quality titles than the XBL Marketplace imo. Don’t get me wrong I have alot of good to great games for my 360 (downloads and otherwise), but the games that get released over PSN is more of a gamble than what gets released on XBL (example Noby-Noby Boy),
Yeah Odin sphere is aersome but really difficult at times, oh, don’t tell arik about good games he’s too busy using his xbox rumble massage app for his controller on his tiny man bits!
…why do graphics matter? The reason to be excited for GOW3 is because its predecessors had great-feeling control schemes and interesting puzzles. That wouldn’t change no matter what platform you’re using.
Seriously, a game can be good no matter what system it’s on. There’s no need to base the worthiness of an entire console on just one or two big releases. The PS3, Xbox, and Wii are all going to have some good games that are worth your time. GOW3 is definitely going to be one of them. If you own a PS3, then buy it. If you don’t, play it at a friend’s house or something. No one cares.
(Also, do some people here really not understand that this site is a parody? Not even necessarily of Sony, but just of fanboyism in general.)
ummm, why are graphics nothing now? I just bought the sega collection last weekend, I have over 200 games on all consoles pre-ps2 including nes,snes,sega,atari,pc,dreamcast,ps1…but i sold my xbox cause I only had 2 good games on it dead or alive, and fable. I enjoy most of my pc games with graphics on medium settings. Who the fuck are you, Eric? What the FUCK do you like in a video game??? You probably work for fucking microsoft or better yet nintendo with their throw away garbage titles like cooking mama???? Wii music?? FUck you eric. I’m buying SF4 in the morning so leave me a comment I’ll get back to you in a couple days
Out there
There’s a world outside of Yonkers
Way out there beyond this hick town, Barnaby
There’s a slick town, Barnaby
Out there
Full of shine and full of sparkle
Close your eyes and see it glisten, Barnaby
Listen, Barnaby…
Put on your Sunday clothes,
There’s lots of world out there
Get out the brillantine and dime cigars
We’re gonna find adventure in the evening air
Girls in white in a perfumed night
Where the lights are bright as the stars!
Put on your Sunday clothes, we’re gonna ride through town
In one of those new horsedrawn open cars!
@Erik (Likely sore from a red ring)It doesn’t matter what the game looks like, FMV or otherwise. What I want to see is how the game plays. Graphics are nothing. Comprehend?
Yes, I know Xbots don’t care about graphics. It’s a good job really innit.
So how are you PS3 players enjoying your updated content for GTA4 and Fallout 3? The Lost and the Damned is great. Operation Anchorage for FO3 is just okay, but it comes with some rather nice new gear. But I think that The Pitt for FO3 will be a much more full experience.
Oh wait… you aren’t getting any new content. Oh, nevermind then.
I bet you’re enjoying that naked cock-tent in gta4 aren’t you arik? I’m playing SF4 til KZ2 comes out. Also dl’d nobinobi boy today, it’s rad! Ah and the afro samurai demo was sweet too might pick it up>!!>
Really, I’d expect nothing more from an immature PS3 fan to focus in on that one bit of nudity out of the hours of content the game has to offer. Honestly I would hate to see any of you in an art museum.
“1) I’m on m first and only 360. The whole red ring thing is a rarity anymore. Where have you been?”
That’s because you haven’t been playing it. It’s getting rarer because more xbots are getting bored. Lasts a lot longer when you don’t play it. I’ve been playing loads of wonderful games on on the PS3, that’s where I’ve been.
“2) And PS3 fantards don’t care about gameplay. So it all works out for everyone. 360 fans get games and PS3 fans get barely interactive movies.”
an art museum you say? You mean a place where snobs get together and look at the next trend? You are digging deep here. I don’t value graphics over gameplay seeing my favorite genre is rpg and strategy. But I am awesome at fps but I’m tired of the mouse as my hand goes numb quickly, so I’m psyched KZ2 is coming soon. I don’t hate on you like you do me, I just want to show the world what a cock lover you truly are! Ahem, back to street fighter
“That’s because you haven’t been playing it. It’s getting rarer because more xbots are getting bored. Lasts a lot longer when you don’t play it. I’ve been playing loads of wonderful games on on the PS3, that’s where I’ve been.”
Oh please. My 360 gets about 2 hours of use on the nights I work, and about 4-5 hours on the days I have off of work.
My PS3 on the other hand might get turned on for 2 hours a week. I’m just really bored with it. It just really has no interesting games.
@No Vice
Art museum you utter dolt, not art gallery. I was unaware that Michelangelo(Not the turtle you dolt) and his work David were the “next trend”.
ooo I’m an utter dolt(not unlike a cow’s tits) You’re a retard arik. If you have so many games to play why do you ever come to this site but to bash ps3? You need to go sit on home depot’s shelves, because you are a complete tool! ZING! Vice, my psn is naughtFamous look me up
No (and disturbed is equally annoying) the song in SFIV is called “industructible” as well.
So don’t get me started on why Disturbed sucks ass and why that type of “metal” is still getting dragged through the mud.
If anything listen to Machine Head, Suicide Silence, Rose Funeral or maybe some Spineshank.
I dont own a PS3 but by the looks of this game it gives me a reason to try somethin new.
@No Voice
Your a fucking idiot dude.
shit man,stop it with the heat crap.thats they only shit you got against the xobx.they dont even give off as much heat as you describe.
“What as? A heater? You’d have to turn your Tv up though with ‘em being so noisy.”
No, my furnace is what I use as a heater. I use my 360 as my primary gaming system, followed by my PC, then followed by…
Well I really can’t say that my PS3 gets enough use at all to even be a tertiary gaming system. Yeah it gets a good amount of use as a movie player. Both downloaded movies as well as Blu-Ray. But as far as games, yeah right. I think I might have played some Castlevania: SOTN on it a few weeks ago. Other than that there are no real games on the PS3 I want to play, even among those that I own.
@InfaredChimera
No thank you. Far too much metal is just people trying to rupture their vocal cords to cover their lack of instrumental talent. I much prefer bands such as Disturbed and Black Sabbath that are like, you know, music.
I look up Black Sabbath and…. oh my gosh, They are Really old! How old are you, erik?
I found it odd that you didn’t like the CG blood in Freddy vs. Jason–thinking that you had old copys of A Nightmare on Elm Street in your home or something. But now it looks like you were there on opening night!
You must be millions of years old!!!
Can you tell me how the dinosaurs really died off?
I was listening to Black Sabbath last night. First album, skipped the first part of the title track though, just played it from the bit when Ozzy starts singing:
Is it the end, my friend?
Red ring’s coming ’round again
360 RRoDing, it’s overheating
It knows KZ2 will take some beating
No, no, please, no
Don’t get me wrong, Disturbeds first album was freaking good, but then they (to me) just try to capture the same magic as the first album and hearing them on every damn game or movie, then it gets annoying as shit. Otherwise Sabbath is the shit (didn’t really dig the Dio years, but his solo crap is a blast to listen too, Holy Diver!!).
Ummm…. Actually give SpineShank a try, there first album (Strictly Diesel) is kinda of a cross between the Deftones and NIN mixed with a little bit of Fear Factory. Also they do a fantastic cover of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. Also there’s a band called Mastadon which is probably right up your alley, musically and lyrically are fantastic and the album Leviathan is kinda their take on Moby Dick.
Maybe you could verify that those are the lyrics with a reference of some sort? But I see that you are still hung up on the resolved rrod issue. As I didn’t buy a launch 360 I have little to fear from that problem.
The only thing I have to fear right now is with so few good games coming out for the PS3 that my PS3 will just become a grossly overpriced movie player.
Do you think that for once in the history of your insipid little blog here that you could back up what you say? You know, by linking to some kind of reference that verifies that those are in fact the lyrics.
But I see that you are still hung up on the passe and resolved issue of rrod. As I was smart enough to NOT buy a launch system, as is common sense with any system, I have little to fear from that issue. Its coming up on about a year that my system has worked without issue despite near daily usage.
The only thing I have to fear at the moment is with so few good games coming out for the PS3 that my PS3 will just become a grossly overpriced movie player.
@erik
god you are a tool! PASSE??? I have a fear that you don’t know the value of a dollar. While you may have spent upwards of 500 dollars on your Sony Playstation 3, I’m sure you have spent that, threefold, on weekend wiener bars. Maybe if Sony made homographic video games you would think that “things are turning around for Sony”. They can call it Ass-split Erik, about a fan-oldman who loves taking loads of “data” in any hole he can get it. Hell who am I kidding, it’s easier to develop for the xbox so just put it on there, I’m sure the drones will eat it up.
Well, wasn’t Freddy vs. Jason a comedy? I like it when the blood isn’t real, makes it more fun. (But I’m not into those movies. In fact, Freddy vs. Jason was mostly my first horror movie. outside of Alien, I mean)
Even the Makers Of Gears Of War said the blood and gore was over the top to make it less serious.
And wasn’t there some parts of Freddy vs. Jason that had lots of blood? Like at the end?
@Kanerilis:
Don’t talk to erik or marnick. They’re both homo! But of course you knew that.
Yes, passe. The rrod is old news that is only brought up by Sony fantards. Its been resolved and we’ve moved on. I’ve not had a single problem with my nearly one year old 360. The only problem console that I have at the moment is my PS3. And that problem is there is no really good reason to even turn it on.
But hey, if my 360 ever goes bad(highly unlikely), I’ll be able to trade in my PS3 for a new 360. So I guess the PS3 has some uses.
He is the type of gamer that knows a game will suck and talk shit about it despite never even have played it. Even if the game is outstanding he can talk smack about it without haveing to play it.
“I’m asking you: Have you played Everybody’s Golf (also known as Hotshots Golf) on your PS3.”
No.
“It’s really good. You were saying you didn’t like any games you’d got for your PS3, I was just wondering if you’d tried that.”
In all likelihood I’m probably not going to.
@InfaredChimera.
“He is the type of gamer that knows a game will suck and talk shit about it despite never even have played it. Even if the game is outstanding he can talk smack about it without haveing to play it.”
Not in all circumstances is that possible. But yes, sometimes basic analytical skills can be engaged in lieu of first hand experience. Much as rubbing sand sized grains of glass into my eyeballs one doesn’t have to play every single damn game on the planet to know whether or not they suck. Its absurd to even expect a person to. But when a shitty game company makes a sequel to a shitty game on a shitty system the only feasible outcome can be shit. Except in this case we have the highly over hyped shit of Killzone 2.
But to answer your other question: No, I have not played Hot Shots Golf. And in all likelihood I’m probably not going to either.
@InfaredChimera
I can’t predict whether a game will suck in every situation. But sometimes, yes, basic analytical skills can be used in place of first hand experience. When a shitty game company makes a sequel to a shitty game for a shitty system then in all honesty the outcome is going to be something that I am going to have zero interest in trying. That is regardless of it being overhyped or not.
But as I stated previously, if it will make you shut the fuck up then I will play the demo then say it sucks.
SDF isn’t funny now…the articles suck at trolling…=( Let me show you some trolling.
Xbox 360 is shit, both of mine just broke at exactly the same fucking time, not only that but one of them just gave my DMC disc a huge scratch and M$ says I have to pay 20 dollars to get it fixed even though it was their fault it broke. Not only that, gears of war sucks, halo sucks, fable 2 sucks, basically all the games the past few years xbox has touted as being killer apps are complete and utter shit, I’m a very disappointed xbox owner. I just poured some gasoline on my pair xbox’es in the backyard and burned them. Really, anyone who buys a 360 is a tool, they break in 2 seconds, seriously, and they always send another refurbished piece of crap when one breaks. And let not get started on the laggy p2p service and the insane price of 8 dollars per month for subscription. This system is definitely not worth 200 dollars…400 dollars…its seriously crappy, and I’m sick of microsoft.
Not that I’m going to buy a PS3 though. The system has basically no games, and the games it has have are basically boring as fuck once you’ve beat them once. Resistance was a cheap old generic shooter just like halo, and killzone is boring as hell (my dads brother works at sony, I’ve beaten the game already), I played it at home and then at my grandmothers, who only has a 13 inch black and white TV set, and I didn’t see any difference in the graphics. MGS4 was like watching the worst fucking movie in the world, I don’t think there was more than 3 hours of gameplay in the entire game. I’m not going to buy a system that has no games.
The Wii is the biggest tragedy of this system cycle. It is the system with the most potential. But that potential has been squandered by arrogance on behalf of Nintendo thinking that all people want to play is the billionth iteration of their properties.
ohh dear erik you still here i haven’t visited this site for ages and u still doing pointless arguments i thought the xbox 3 fix me would have kept u busy oh dear and what the hell are u talking about? gta 4 exclusive RROD missions?! let me think what’s the worst vehicle in gta oh right motorcycles if u hit them u fly so high u even show up on the air force radar too bad well son i have to go killzone 2 is coming real soon but don’t worry the 360 won’t be pointless after it because i will use the 360 and ps3 at the same time like i play the ps3 with killzone and the 360 i will use it disc tray as a cup holder while i’m playing killzone isn’t life great or what !
Hey man, the Wii has awesome games, I play Brawl every day nonstop, then some Mario Kart, then I play a little bit of Zak and Wiki, on the off day I play some Metroid, Then I play some Twilight Princess over again because its so damn awesome, then I hop on Animal Crossing Wii and turn on my WiiChat and talk for hours on end with my buddies while I play, then I play RE4 with the Wiimote because it’s so much more awesome than it was on GC and PS2 with it, Then I jump from planet to planet in Super Mario Galaxy for about 2 hours, then I rock out in my Guitar heros and Rock Bands, then play some High School Musical, Then play some house of the dead, then some WiiSports, Then some Godfather Blackhand, Then play some No More Heroes, play buy Wiiware because all of it is just so awesome, then hop on my internets to laugh at all the fools on SDF who buy the Xbox’es and the Playstations when the true ultimate next gen console is the Wii, now and forever. PS3 has no games and The 360 breaks in like 2 weeks. Wii FTW.
I think that CG has been far overused in movies lately. I understand its use sometimes, but it has become a crutch. One should never use CG when a physical effect can perform the same function. So really the blood in Braveheart > the blood in 300. You aren’t going to convince me to be a CG whore anytime soon so don’t bother.
Nintendo has the most potential? WHERE? I love brawl, but it’s just another smash bros clone! ON THE WII! Gamecube had like 10 games it’s whole lifecycle why would Wii be any different? I hate you all, it’s like talking to a 4 year old trying to convince him Barney is stupid. Wii is stupid. The only reason xbox lasted so long is all the money they have backing it.
Now I know you are inbred or have suffered some brain trauma or something, but please try to keep up. Just because a console HAS potential doesn’t mean that that potential is being used. The Wii has/had potential, but it is sadly not being tapped into. Instead of getting the most unique and boundary pushing games of this generation they are pissing the potential away on insipid shovelware.
Also you aren’t quite right either about why Xbox has survived. It has survived because it is going up against the PS3. And Sony has through their overpriced, feature bloated, style-over-substance piece of shit known as the PS3 pushed many of their prior fans over to the 360. At this point the biggest problem Sony has is Sony.
Now I know you are inbred or have suffered some severe head trauma at some time, but do please try and keep up. Now just because the Wii has/had potential doesn’t mean that potential is being taken advantage of. The system is capable of the most unique and boundary pushing games this generation. But instead Nintendo has pissed away all of that potential on insipid shovelware.
As for why the Xbox has lasted. Well that is due to the fact that Sony has created legions of new Xbox fans from their former fans. Their arrogance in shoving their overpriced, feature bloated, style-over-substance waste of a system down our throats have lost them many customers. Customers which Microsoft has gained. I think that their system selling better than Sony’s might have something to do with their system lasting don’t you think?
What erik is saying is true, sony has never really had any competition since the PS1. Sure there was the N64 and GC, but thats all there was really (saturn and DC came and went rather quickly and sadly, thats more to blame on Sega’s part).
Now that MS got into the game back in 2001 with the launch of the Xbox and was a moderate success (in thanks to the Halo series) and with the launch of the 360 it showed that there where here to stay. What the problem with sony was that in part they believed that everyone would rush out and buy a PS3 on the principal and good faith of a Playstation fans at no matter the cost of it, and NOONE could’ve ever predicted on how successful that the Wii is or was going to be as well. So when Sony decides to release a console at $500-$600 of course not every PS fan was going to buy it.
With that as leverage MS started to target the PS2 crowd and by all accounts it has worked quite well for them. So really this is the first time in 10+ years sony has had any “real” competition and now there kinda scrambling at the moment.

I was going to add to your comment to karnilis, but couldn’t because of the moderation.
So i will attempt to cut it down
1. Sony never really had any competition in the last 10+ years.
2. MS marketed the 360 towards the PS2 crowd with a attractive price of entry and it worked.
3. No one could’ve predicted on how well the Wii was actually going to do.
Well, since graphics and processing power seem a popular subject of debate here, I just thought I should maybe add my 2 cents.
Cell and whatever triple-core 3.2GHz PowerPC chip is in the 360 are both crushed by a 4GHz quad core (it’s done 4.6 but was seriously toasty).
RSX and Xenon are both crushed by more or less any PC graphics card, leave alone 2 of them.
How much does a PS3/360 cost? And how much did we all spend on our PCs? Who can tell me how much better of a computer they could have gotten if they put that money into the PC rather than a console?
Once you’ve all read up a little bit about PC hardware, and have added up some costs, and seen how FUCKING EPIC Crysis Warhead looks, then come running and saying PS3 has epic visuals, or gaming PCs are too expensive.
The cost isn’t the only issue to consider in regards to PC gaming. The thing to consider is that it is a pain in the ass. A series of tweaking sliders, drivers, directX shit, and the absolute roll of the dice in just how playable the game will be unless you have an epic Alienware money pit.
On the other hand with console gaming you have to… put the disc in the slot.
@arik
Your mother was inbred!
What potential? It’s a frikkin gamecube 1.5
Have you played Zelda on wii? It looked like a frakkin 64 game!! and had the worst control ever. WAGGLE YOUR WIIMOTE! Madworld is going to be the best looking game and it’s only like 3 colors. a joke it is.
The Wii offered a possibility of very engaging and innovative games through its intuitive controls. In a way this was a success. But unfortunately Nintendo itself does not have the imagination to fully take advantage of their own creation. And they seem dead set against 3rd party titles for the most part. I would go as far as to say that the Wii is the only true next gen system at the time being.
What does the PS3, or hell, the 360 offer? No innovation. The same button mashing games with the same damn controllers with slightly better looking games. No innovation, no potential.
yeah I like the games to look good, I’m dumb I guess. I also don’t want to spend 60 dollars on a game that could have been made 5 years ago. Let me put it in words you can understand…DUR, you know how your mother came out a couple generations ago? DUUUUR, well I wouldn’t pay 30 bucks to lay down with her these days, cause she is old and worn out and doesn’t look or play as good as she used to. DUUUUR DUUUUN. Why is it so hard to understand for you, I could care less about how next gen the graphics are, I’m not paying for your old, used up mom, to do the same thing she did 5 years ago, when a younger MUCH BETTER LOOKING woman will do things she could only dream about.
But the funny thing is you are playing the same thing as 5 years ago, hidden under a shiny new paint job. But you wouldn’t realize that you see, because you are a graphics whore.
The rest of us are tired of that stupid old shit and want some real innovation. But really, have fun with that washed up old shit. Really.
Yeah I love bionic commando, the remake, and I hope the new one is good too. Pixeljunk series, call of duty, dead space, gta4, motorstorm, naruto, fear 2, metal gear, little big planet, uncharted, prince of persia, resistance, hawx, gran turismo…Who is stupid now? Your arguments hold no weight. And you love guzzling cock fountains.
Other than Little Big Planet, albeit rather overhyped as it is, you go and prove me wrong by rattling off a bunch of washed up old shit in pretty new packaging. Really, you should put some effort into trying to prove me wrong, rather than just completely validating everything I just said.
Keep enjoying that washed up old shit in pretty new packaging. No really, I mean it.
But really, don’t come back until you grasp the concept of innovation. Metal Gear Solid 4 having higher rez graphics than Metal Gear Solid 3 is NOT innovation.
did you play it? no. Or any of these? You are the one who didn’t prove your point. None of these games are copies. I’m done. You’re gay and here to stay I get it.
In fact yes I did play it. Guess what? It really wasn’t that much different from the prior three iterations. But one would be able to discern past the prettyful graphics to figure that obvious fact out now wouldn’t they?
Oh I played Uncharted. But it really wasn’t that much of an improvement on Tomb Raider. You know, the original one. On the PS1.
I tried the Demo for FEAR 2. Yeah, it was pretty much the same damn game as the first. And I despised the first.
And you try to bring up Resistance? Please, are you even trying? That game was the most lackluster cookie-cutter shooter I’ve played in a long time.
but you whine about fake blood? I told you though I’m done arguing with you, because you are just trying to make yourself right when you can’t be right. Just go sell your ps3/360 to someone who enjoys games, or better yet go to school to make games and show me what innovation is. TOOL
Aw, are you sad because the games you mentioned are nothing but shoddy duplicates of old games with new graphics? Perhaps you could tell us what is so “new” about Resistance other than polygon count.
Well I said I was done talking to you, I have to go to work old man. I haven’t played r2 but the first one had interesting weapons, a long storyline, good immersion in the story, good boss fights, those spiderthings are crazy, not too great multiplayer tho(but an amazing launch title), I have heard good things about the 8 player co-op or some such on R2, or 60 players online, but just speculation as I haven’t played it. But you’re right nothing is new is it. I’m curious tho, how old are you and where do you live. Oh and btw, by the time I read your reply you probably will have choked down 6 or 7 cocks
Since by the tone of your comments it sounds that you kinda have highly unrealistic expectations for the games you wanna play. Karnilis (in his defense) did mention a bunch of different games in different genres, which leads to you crapping all over a game if it doesn’t “innovate”. Innovation doesn’t always equel better, sure Mirrors Edge was innovative, but it had a ton of problems that overshadowed the good parts about it.
Now another example is Street Fighter 4, it doesn’t introduce nothing new really to the 2d fighting genre, but where it excells at is what it is, a 2d fighting game.
Sometimes a game (like Resistance for example) can be a paint by the numbers FPS, but if the team behind it can do it well and make a fun solid game, then thats what matters the most.
Innovation doesn’t always mean “better” all the time. Mirrors Edge is a perfect example, it was the first game to do a first person parkour experience, but it had its fair share of problems that ended up overshadowing the “innovation” of the game.
“Perhaps you could tell us what is so “new” about Resistance other than polygon count.”
I can tell you quite easily, it does nothing new at all. But what it does do right is being a pretty solid FPS (imo). Sometimes (and in many cases) a game doesn’t need to innovate, but what it needs to do is do it well, and make it a enjoyable experience that will draw people to it or have them come back to it.
If you want really good games, than look to games developed by Treasure. There games tend to be quite difficult, but take skill to master. But what the do though is take a shootemup (shump for short) and add one little thing to it that makes there games standout from the rest.
What’s with the innovation shit? A good game’s a good game. But that’s down to personal opinion.
I didn’t like Bioshock, I wasn’t keen on MGS4, GTA4, Haze, Lair, I loved Uncharted, Fallout 3, First Resistance was better than he second, CoD4 was ok, GT5p, LBP, The Darkness.
What is innovation? Portal was excellent. Gears cover system? Please, it’s just a rip off of 24 the Game and the graphics aren’t even much better.
2 more in moderation and have no idea why
Well anyways lets see if this goes through. Innovation doesn’t always mean “better”. Mirrors Edge was in all due respects innovative, BUT the flaws in that title where overshadowed everthing good about the game
While a game doesn’t have to be innovative to be good, it does have to do well in what type of game it is.
Erik – you’d love Windows 7. You install it (oh noes effort!), connect to the internets, and it installs your drivers for you. Oh, snap… Every Windows since XP has been able to download its drivers through Windows Update.
Anyway. Once you’ve connected to the internet and downloaded your updates (tell me the 360′s never had a system update you gotta reboot for…) you drop your game disk in (or, even better, go on STEAM and DOWNLOAD it for CHEAP) and install it. Shock of shocks, it only takes a few minutes. Unless you have a slow-ass HDD or optical drive, comparable to what you may find in a laptop or hmm… console.
Once the game is installed, you spend perhaps a whole minute dragging your visual settings to ‘Medium’ so that you have a similar gameplay experience to what you’d have on a console (albeit a smoother one) and start.
At any point in there, did I describe something difficult?
I know it’s more effort than setting up a console, but how much more can a PC do? Basically take everything any console can do, then add ‘Make your tea for you’ and ‘the kitchen sink’ to that list. Then put ‘faster than anything else’ on each item in the list. Of course it’s gonna take more setting up. It can do a billion times as much.
But hey. I’m preaching to the converted here. Sony fanboys, anything-but-Sony fanboys, Nintendo fanboys (if they still exist…) and XBox fanboys.
And just to make clear, I do have a console. It’s a 360. I pay for Live. If anyone wants to bitch at me on there, feel free. Gamertag is Aranthos (shoch horror!)
PS. Games are cheaper on PC. At least in the UK.
PPS. If you build a decent PC you don’t have to spend months pulling sliders and worrying about your next upgrade. Until last week I was using a 3 year old CPU.
Well I wouldn’t say ease of use of PC gaming isn’t the issue. Its the price, along with how fast your pc gets outdated.
Really when it comes down to it, if you where to build a PC at the time the 360 or ps3 came out. And planed on it competing with the console generation it would easily cost over $1500. So when you compare spending $300-$600 on a console that wont be obsolete for at least 5 years, its kind of a no-brainer for somebody just looking to play the games.
PC gaming has always been more about being a Visual/Audio enthusiast, more then a video gamer.
And yes, PC’s can do more then consoles… BUT you make it seem like nobody owns a PC. Why not spend $400-600 on a PC, and $300-600 on a console? Low end your spending 700, high end your talking 1200. But for a “gaming” computer low end is starting at $1,500. And even if you decide to shell out the cash for a decent gaming computer, it will be obsolete within a few months just because of the motherboard.
But the biggest issue imo is allot/most game developers are now making the games for the console. Not many developers are still making the games for the PC. And that’s why tons of pc games have issues the day they release, if not having the game come out months after the console release… and still have issues.
You seem to think that I’ve never done any gaming on a PC by your apparent tone. Yes, the way you describe things with your rose-tinted glasses on seems awfully simple and easy.
Reality on the other hand sucks hardcore ass. Have you ever had to switch between two versions of Directx to get a game to work? I have. Have you ever had a bad stick of ram fry your mobo? I have. Have you ever had a game where you meet all the requirements and it is STILL unplayable with everything turned down to minimum levels? I have. Have you ever been unable to play a game that you own due to losing the cd-key and thus becoming victim to PC gaming’s draconic copyright protection? I have. Have you had to scour your PC with adware scanning programs to find whatever the fuck is running in the background that is making your game run like shit? I have. Have you ever had to tear your windows keys off your keyboard with a butter knife because tapping them crashed your game? I have. Have you ever lost your drivers disks to your sound card and had to scan drivers.com for fucking hours to find some version that will actually work? I have.
So you see your little speech/rant just MAY have convinced me had I never done any PC gaming ever. But unfortunately I’ve been PC gaming before the days of even windows 3.1. To this day I play plenty of games on the PC, even more so than my PS3. (mind you thats not an accomplishment) But do NOT for a second try to convince me that it is the land of milk and honey that you try to deem it to be.
No Vice
Whats with the innovation shit? Well like Kanerilis said, we don’t want to play the same old games we did five years ago. Unfortunately he doesn’t realize that HE is the one playing the old games. People are SO easy to fool when you put a new name on the game and bump it up to 1080p. It amuses me so.
Haha, I completely agree with you about how easily people are fooled into thinking there playing a “new innovative game!” just because of the pretty graphics…
Just wait erik, months from now we are going to be hearing about how a game ending with XIII is so innovative and great.
Off topic, but I haven’t seen much talk about SFIV. So I’m going to go ahead and say that Street Fighter IV is the best game to come out in ages…
Well not all the games he mentioned are devoid of innovation. LBP, though overhyped, is pretty different. But to say that the Wii doesn’t have potential for an imaginative developer to take advantage of its intuitive controls is… retarded. Putting Resistance in a list of games that are supposedly new and unique is also retarded. Of many of the other games one could put up at least a pathetic argument that they aren’t just knockoffs, but not THAT game.
“Off topic, but I haven’t seen much talk about SFIV. So I’m going to go ahead and say that Street Fighter IV is the best game to come out in ages…”
And I would have to agree with you. It feels just so right to play it, and to rediscover why I LOVED it when I was growing up just brings a smile to my face.
The only complaint I have with it (big shocker) is Seth. That dude is so incredably cheap, it ain’t even funny. Shit he blocks unblockable attacks, can break out of a combo that you’re in against him, can perform focus attacks without really no charge time, and his ultra finish combo is no avoiding it. I get that he is the last boss, and he should put up a decent challenge, but to be really cheap isn’t fun, its more annoying than anything.
I really couldn’t bring myself to play past the third level of Resistance with or without the guns. And really as far as guns go I have more fun with the Half-Life series. There is a challenge I’ve seen posted that requires the use of nothing but the gravity gun (save for a few minor exceptions) after you get it in Half-Life 2.
Well my other awesome comments were moderated away, so screw it. Erik you are getting older, your taste in games is getting stale. Your eyes are probably failing you, hard to stare at a screen for long times? Did you use the auger gun in resistance? What about that gun that shot tags out to bend your shots, Come on those guns are innovative as hell. The gravity gun? That gun sucks you can’t even see where you are going when you are holding something. Old gabe said “hey lets make a gun that picks things up and throws it!” That’s some gay snit right there. I heard the new barbie riding game has pink rainbow horses maybe that would be more your style.
So until SDF says something stupid that the PS3 fantards will attempt to defend and give us something to argue over lets list the games we are looking forward to:
FIRST!!! Yes baby, I did it!
And is that big hair guy the one that’s going to be in Final Fantasy XIII?
Oh, and the video looks great!
@zoar
Thats THE man, Bob Ross, and he paints happy little trees.
C-C-C-Combo breaker for Zoar.
If it is “simply amazing” then there are words for it obviously.
breathtaking, this could be the best game of all time. of couse its a ps3 exclusive
I can think of a word. “Yawn” is a word right?
is Yawn you boyfriend’s name?
no, erik’s boyfriend’s name is marnick
@fiffer86
Congratulations Sony. You make great rentals.
Who is the pedophile holding the paintbrush?
@RainbowSeven:
That would be you.
@erik
Awww… look how he gets all riled up. How cute.
Your comments are getting lamer by the minute. You’re not even trying. Tell your english teacher to teach you some troll-fu moves, you need them bad.
@xbotkiller(Hans)
I’m not talking to your sock puppet.
Amazing. Another display of just what the PS3 can do. No other console comes close, not even the PS2.
@Kaneriis
How is Odin Sphere? I heard that it was a very good action-rpg but didn’t sell too well.
@erik
Don’t get me wrong I have alot of good to great games for my 360 (downloads and otherwise), but the games that get released over PSN is more of a gamble than what gets released on XBL (example Noby-Noby Boy),
@InfaredChimera
Yes I have. But generally speaking none of them drew my interest. I much prefer the Xbox Live selection of downloadable titles.
For the most part the only real good PSN is for me is downloading episodes of tv shows
Yeah Odin sphere is aersome but really difficult at times, oh, don’t tell arik about good games he’s too busy using his xbox rumble massage app for his controller on his tiny man bits!
@Kanerilis
Can’t fathom a PS3 owner who isn’t a drooling retard graphics whore fanboy eh?
To Kaneriis:
Please don’t buy Eat Lead!
(And that’s the last time I’ll talk about that game.)
FMV or gameplay when you’re talking PS3 it’s all the same. Just look at KZ2.
@RainbowSeven:
That would be Bob Ross, a pretty talented painter that used to have a painting show on PBS.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Ross
Good job being a judgmental ass.
@No Vice(likely another Hans hand puppet)
It doesn’t matter what the game looks like, FMV or otherwise. What I want to see is how the game plays. Graphics are nothing. Comprehend?
Not even necessarily of Sony, but just of fanboyism in general.)
eric, honestly man, go get a girlfriend or a hobby or something and stop patrolling the website of a game console you don’t like.
Lost and damned review?
ummm, why are graphics nothing now? I just bought the sega collection last weekend, I have over 200 games on all consoles pre-ps2 including nes,snes,sega,atari,pc,dreamcast,ps1…but i sold my xbox cause I only had 2 good games on it dead or alive, and fable. I enjoy most of my pc games with graphics on medium settings. Who the fuck are you, Eric? What the FUCK do you like in a video game??? You probably work for fucking microsoft or better yet nintendo with their throw away garbage titles like cooking mama???? Wii music?? FUck you eric. I’m buying SF4 in the morning so leave me a comment I’ll get back to you in a couple days
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near_future_in_video_gaming
I know! Let’s sing!
Out there
There’s a world outside of Yonkers
Way out there beyond this hick town, Barnaby
There’s a slick town, Barnaby
Out there
Full of shine and full of sparkle
Close your eyes and see it glisten, Barnaby
Listen, Barnaby…
Put on your Sunday clothes,
There’s lots of world out there
Get out the brillantine and dime cigars
We’re gonna find adventure in the evening air
Girls in white in a perfumed night
Where the lights are bright as the stars!
Put on your Sunday clothes, we’re gonna ride through town
In one of those new horsedrawn open cars!
@Erik (Likely sore from a red ring)It doesn’t matter what the game looks like, FMV or otherwise. What I want to see is how the game plays. Graphics are nothing. Comprehend?
Yes, I know Xbots don’t care about graphics. It’s a good job really innit.
@No Vice(yeah, you are Hans)
1) I’m on m first and only 360. The whole red ring thing is a rarity anymore. Where have you been?
2) And PS3 fantards don’t care about gameplay. So it all works out for everyone. 360 fans get games and PS3 fans get barely interactive movies.
This China Man is truth!
http://kotaku.com/5156600/capcoms-jun-takeuchi-on-the-rise-of-western-gaming
@erik
You just condemned your 360 man! It knows when you talk about it and then it kills itself!
^^^
“And PS3 fantards don’t care about gameplay. So it all works out for everyone. 360 fans get games and PS3 fans get barely interactive movies.”
also thats a pretty quick assumption and smells of fanboism to the highest pedigree.
@InfaredChimera
“also thats a pretty quick assumption and smells of fanboism to the highest pedigree.”
I don’t know. It seems like Hans(No Vice) is okay with the arrangement.
To Zoar:
We’ll see the shows at Del Monico’s and we’ll close the town in a whirl! And we wooon’t come hooome untill we’ve kissed a giiirrrlll!
@Jesus Christ:
Thank you Jesus! You’re always the best!
And here is something for all you gamers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcZVlOPcbjU
So how are you PS3 players enjoying your updated content for GTA4 and Fallout 3? The Lost and the Damned is great. Operation Anchorage for FO3 is just okay, but it comes with some rather nice new gear. But I think that The Pitt for FO3 will be a much more full experience.
Oh wait… you aren’t getting any new content. Oh, nevermind then.
lol who is a fanboy now?
I bet you’re enjoying that naked cock-tent in gta4 aren’t you arik? I’m playing SF4 til KZ2 comes out. Also dl’d nobinobi boy today, it’s rad! Ah and the afro samurai demo was sweet too might pick it up>!!>
Really, I’d expect nothing more from an immature PS3 fan to focus in on that one bit of nudity out of the hours of content the game has to offer. Honestly I would hate to see any of you in an art museum.
“OMGROFFLEOFFLE!11!11! i SeE Da\/1D’s c0ck!”
@erik
I care about gameplay, can’t wait for Heavy Rain.
an art museum you say? You mean a place where snobs get together and look at the next trend? You are digging deep here. I don’t value graphics over gameplay seeing my favorite genre is rpg and strategy. But I am awesome at fps but I’m tired of the mouse as my hand goes numb quickly, so I’m psyched KZ2 is coming soon. I don’t hate on you like you do me, I just want to show the world what a cock lover you truly are! Ahem, back to street fighter
So who here is excited for a sequel to American McGees: Alice? I can’t wait for this one since the first one was freakin brilliant!
@Kanerilis
I don’t know about you, but that boy band sounding song “industructable” in SFIV is annoying as hell.
i know right, but it does accompany one of the best intro movies ever. I played thru alice when it came out, it was okay. That dude is twisted.
Everybody, go buy Cryostasis! I don’t know how it plays, but it looks great!
@No Vice
@No Vice
Art museum you utter dolt, not art gallery. I was unaware that Michelangelo(Not the turtle you dolt) and his work David were the “next trend”.
That first reply was to Kanerilis. Not like it matters. All of you PS3 fanboys are the same to me.
Make that second reply.
@InfaredChimera
I do hope you aren’t talking smack about Disturbed?
so if halo3 got 2.5 on it’s SDF score, shouldn’t KZ2 get a 1.5? This would instantly prove that KZ2 is worse than halo3 (and compareable to GoW2)
@Erik”Oh please. My 360 gets about 2 hours of use on the nights I work, and about 4-5 hours on the days I have off of work. ”
What as? A heater? You’d have to turn your Tv up though with ‘em being so noisy.
ooo I’m an utter dolt(not unlike a cow’s tits) You’re a retard arik. If you have so many games to play why do you ever come to this site but to bash ps3? You need to go sit on home depot’s shelves, because you are a complete tool! ZING! Vice, my psn is naughtFamous look me up
@erik
@No Voice
Your a fucking idiot dude.
shit man,stop it with the heat crap.thats they only shit you got against the xobx.they dont even give off as much heat as you describe.
ok this is random frag just cant remember my password
@InfraredChimera
YES Suicide Silence love them. Also Knights of the Abyss, Emmure, Winds of Plague, the Acacia Strain. all really great bands
Oh man, No Vice (Hans, methinks), you are comedy gold!
@Hans
“What as?
@InfaredChimera
No thank you. Far too much metal is just people trying to rupture their vocal cords to cover their lack of instrumental talent. I much prefer bands such as Disturbed and Black Sabbath that are like, you know, music.
@erik:
@Zoar
Yes, The effects in the original Nightmare on Elm Street were leaps and bounds better than the Shrek shit in Freddy vs. Jason.
I was listening to Black Sabbath last night. First album, skipped the first part of the title track though, just played it from the bit when Ozzy starts singing:
Is it the end, my friend?
Red ring’s coming ’round again
360 RRoDing, it’s overheating
It knows KZ2 will take some beating
No, no, please, no
Love the guitars when they kick in to that bit.
So true: KZ2 will take ALOT of beating. It’s just that bad.
@erik
@Hans
@Hans
@erik
god you are a tool!
@erik:
@Kanerilis:
Don’t talk to erik or marnick. They’re both homo! But of course you knew that.
I don’t like horror flicks, call me crazy but when someone gets murdered in real life that’s terrible, right? F vs J was a good fun movie tho.
I’ll reply whenever Hans idiot moderation lets me. Seven comments swallowed by his moron, random moderation program.
Yes Kanerilis, passe.
@erik:
What? You mean I can’t say the f-word?
Testing Fuck Fuck Fuck.
Did it work?
No, I don’t think its related to obscenities. I did use the word fantard, but I don’t think that’s it. I think its just a totally random system.
Found a nice internet radio station for the PS3. iceberg.com
Eric me old, you played Everybodys Golf (AKA Hoshots Golf). It’s a good game, check it out. Give us your verdict.
@Hans
What the fuck are you blabbering about?
Look. Humour me. Who the fuck is Hans?
I’m asking you: Have you played Everybody’s Golf (also known as Hotshots Golf) on your PS3.
It’s really good. You were saying you didn’t like any games you’d got for your PS3, I was just wondering if you’d tried that.
@no vice
He is the type of gamer that knows a game will suck and talk shit about it despite never even have played it. Even if the game is outstanding he can talk smack about it without haveing to play it.
@Hans
“Look. Humour me. Who the fuck is Hans?”
You.
@InfaredChimera.
@Hans
You are Hans.
But to answer your other question: No, I have not played Hot Shots Golf. And in all likelihood I’m probably not going to either.
@InfaredChimera
Haha, moderation again. Two prior comments swallowed. Lets see if I can cut this down to beyond the bare minimum.
No Hans, I have not tried and in all likelihood will not try Hotshots golf.
InfaredChimera. in some instances yes, a person doesn’t need to try something to know whether or not they will like it.
I’m not going to buy a system that has no games.
anyway, I’ll get back to playing my Wii now.
Wii has no games.
You can’t sound cool when you tell someone you have a Wii, but for real, it gets boring telling you moe-rons what’s up.
Wii FTW.
To Erik:
What do you think of the CG blood in 300?
@Zoar
@Kanerilis
Kanerilis
Goddamit HANS your moderation blows!!

FIX THIS MODERATION CRAP HANS!!!! IT DOESN’T WORK AND MAKES
NO SENSE!!!
CLITTLY CLIT PUSSY FARTS!!
@erik
Aranthos
The cost isn’t the only issue to consider in regards to PC gaming. The thing to consider is that it is a pain in the ass. A series of tweaking sliders, drivers, directX shit, and the absolute roll of the dice in just how playable the game will be unless you have an epic Alienware money pit.
On the other hand with console gaming you have to… put the disc in the slot.
I used to game on PC but I’m happier now chilling with a gamepad. Mouse and keys are superior but a gamepad is more convenient.
The Wii is mostly for children, women on a diet, old people and people who can’t use their hands properly. There are “special” exceptions.
The few games it does have are mostly just utter Nintendo drivel like Mario crap.
@arik
Kanerilis
“Have you played Zelda on wii? It looked like a frakkin 64 game!! and had the worst control ever. WAGGLE YOUR WIIMOTE!”
Oh, I see. You think that potential means graphics. Poor poor graphics whore. I pity you.
Let me explain it to you slowly if I can.
Did you know the PS3 is easier to work on then the PS2?
http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/top-developers-slam-ps3-broken-allegations
yeah I like the games to look good, I’m dumb I guess.
But you might not get it, you like waggling joysticks
“But der der der Graphics!”
Please.
but you whine about fake blood?
@erik
@erik
@novice
dude the gears system is ripped from killswitch dumbass and how could u not like bio shock? i loved that game
@everyone
also dont b like who the fuck is this randle i cant find my password to my account it was randomfrag
2 more in moderation and have no idea why
Well anyways lets see if this goes through. Innovation doesn’t always mean “better”. Mirrors Edge was in all due respects innovative, BUT the flaws in that title where overshadowed everthing good about the game
While a game doesn’t have to be innovative to be good, it does have to do well in what type of game it is.
cuntfart
@Aranthos
Aranthos
@erik
Fiffer
Well not all the games he mentioned are devoid of innovation. LBP, though overhyped, is pretty different. But to say that the Wii doesn’t have potential for an imaginative developer to take advantage of its intuitive controls is… retarded. Putting Resistance in a list of games that are supposedly new and unique is also retarded. Of many of the other games one could put up at least a pathetic argument that they aren’t just knockoffs, but not THAT game.
@fiffer
@erik
even though Resistance doesn’t do anything new, at least the guns are quite fun to use with there different firing modes.
InfaredChimera
I really couldn’t bring myself to play past the third level of Resistance with or without the guns. And really as far as guns go I have more fun with the Half-Life series. There is a challenge I’ve seen posted that requires the use of nothing but the gravity gun (save for a few minor exceptions) after you get it in Half-Life 2.
And before anyone tries to call out that as PS3 bias bear in mind I couldn’t play through the second level of Halo.
Maybe you are Gabe
@InfraredChimera:
I kinda Hate Half-Life 2. The story is bad, and seemed to have come from a old hollywood b-movie.
And DON’T get me started with Alyx Vance!
She is such a smug bitch, and a huge Mary Sue.
rented afro samurai, that game is cool. Lots of blood
Looks a lot like Valk chronicles, which bored me to tears in the end, if they made a button to speed things up I might have liked it better
So until SDF says something stupid that the PS3 fantards will attempt to defend and give us something to argue over lets list the games we are looking forward to:
InFamous
Ghostbusters
Brutal Legend
