Year of the PS3: Amazon.com’s Top Games – February 2010

Thanks to the continued Slim Effect™, PS3 has been dominating sales charts across the globe.  So much, in fact, that Sony is predicting massive shortages throughout 2010.

As you can see Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy 13 (PS3 version) and PS3 Slim are currently topping the charts with no sign of slowing down.   The inferior 360 version of Final Fantasy 13 is barely in the Top 30 currently sitting at #29. One would guess the exclusive avatar gear isn’t exactly setting the video game world on fire.

  1. One could proffer the concept that this merely proves that folks are more likely to attempt to shop for PS3 stuff at a bargain than w/the 360…?

  2. Amazon’s hourly sales mean jack shit. The only thing that matters less than Amazon’s hourly sales is anything that SDF prints. But that goes without saying. So maybe you want to put up some, you know, actual sales charts and not this Amazon wankery?

But where is the story SDF about the 360 version of Modern Warfare 2 completely raping the hell out of the P$3 version in sales?

  3. At least erik gets to talk about how bad the ps3 here is without getting banned.

  4. @mich99

And you get to wank all over the overpriced blu-ray player. So we all win, and we all lose.

I really hope that Sony learns their lesson before the PS4. But if crap “interactive-movies” like Heavy Rain, and shit like Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 which have nothing when you strip off the supposedly good graphics are any indicator it seems that Sony is going full steam ahead with trying to drive themselves into the ground.

But if they go that route maybe they will just do what Sega did and make games for other consoles. So Uncharted 3 will be a Wii exclusive. That would be hilarious.

  5. lol looks like my comment got deleted. I posted something about a 360 forum that was really pathetic. They have a system war part of the forum but heres the catch. You cant say nothing good about the ps3 or u get banned lmao .

  6. Not too many people must get banned then. That is with the difficulty inherent with saying anything positive about the PS3. Hm, with it’s shape it might make a good foot rest if you threw a small blanket over it or something.

  7. re: what erik said…

    BWAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA!

    Just too funny!

    HAHAHAHAHA!

  8. Yeah, this would be almost marginally bordering on impressive if it was actual sales data. Using Amazon SDF? Really? …Really?

  9. Are you still on about how you believe, or at least are pretending to do so for a trolling attempt, that somehow you think that I am not being serious with my opinions Taygee?

What is it about what I’ve said or done that has caused you to form this theory?

  10. @erik: Exactly!

  11. @erik: the “exactly” was in response to your second question.

To your first question, I say, Excelsior!

  12. The second question is not a yes/no question, so exactly is not an applicable answer. And as far as first question it IS a yes/no question, so “excelsior” is also not an applicable question.

So I ask again: What have I said or done that has caused you to form the theory that I am doing all of this as some sort of joke or parody.

  13. Begonias!

  14. Troll!

  15. Plaid!

    @erik

Hey now! The PS3 is far from the amazing, life-altering, second coming that the SDF claims, but Uncharted 2 was fantastic, and Heavy Rain is going to be great. They may be different beasts from much of the rest of modern games, but they still appear to be excellent examples of what the medium is capable of.

  17. Now that taygee has come out of the closet as a nonsense spouting troll he can be safely ignored.

I am really pleased with FF13 coming to the 360. It was really going to suck that I would have to miss out on a series which I’ve followed for decades. Before I heard that it was coming to the 360 I was completely prepared to make that sacrifice. But that is just how things go. I mean Secret of Mana is still my favorite game of all time. But had it come out on the PS3 initially I would not have played it, nor enjoyed it.

  18. oooh – can’t wait for someone to fall into erik’s trap – I can see it, can’t you?

  19. Admiral Ackbar has something to say about this, I’m sure.

  20. We can see that you are a troll taygee. And not even a very good one at that. Do you have any other tricks up your sleeve other than saying random and nonsensical things?

  21. erik is a genius.

you folks see it, don’t you?

the profile (“erik”) whose sole purpose is to get other profiles to engage “erik” in pointless debates (“debate” is the wrong word, as “erik” doesn’t debate, “erik” merely restates the same opinion over and over as a phony “argument”) is calling me, “taygee”, a “troll”.

    Pure brilliance, that.

The fact that so many have fallen for it so many times just proves his brilliance.

I get it – do you?

  22. taygee, you don’t get it. You very don’t get it. This is not parody, this is my opinion. Why you think that someone cannot hate the PS3 unless it is parody just shows how idiotic you really are. Open your eyes. Yes, it is possible to hate the PS3.

  23. See? He immediately tacks back towards his favorite subject, when that simply isn’t the point of his exercise.

The “subject” of his arguments is simply the medium through which he exhibits his behavior.

    Pure. Brilliance.

  24. @taygee

I see it, but I get sucked into it occasionally. It annoys me when I look back on it and am like “did I just get sucked in by a troll?” and sure enough, I did.

  25. @taygee

I will ask yet again: What clues or evidence caused you to draw the conclusion that I am not sincere in my opinions?

  26. Don’t worry, erik – I am confident and comfortable in the knowledge that I get it. I don’t need to prove it to you.

    Feel free to carry on!

    Kudos!

  27. & note to everyone else: once again “erik” makes the topic his “opinions”, when in fact it’s about the behavior for him, not the topic at hand.

“erik” is trying to engage me per his own rules, even though it is obvious to him that I “get it”.

  28. @tendonut

Since you will not back up your theory with any sort of evidence you have forfeited by default. So yes, I do believe what I say 100%.

  29. See how he adheres so strongly to the topic, rather than the behavior?

  30. @taygee

See how you are an ignorant twat who still will not give any sort of evidence to back up what you say? What is it that makes you think that I am doing a parody of something? Fucking answer.

  31. and now “erik” does “erik”‘s best to throw a smokescreen over the truth of this discussion.

I am no threat, yet “erik” feels the need to be aggressive and attempt to steer the topic back to the conversation “erik” wants to have.

“erik” has lost sway over those who have finally figured out to not engage “erik” on “erik”‘s terms, and now is lowered to merely arguing with “taygee” for lack of anything more interesting.

“erik” of course is trying to direct and control the conversation back towards what “erik” considers “eriks”‘s “winning” playground (hence the “you have forfeited by default” statement, though I, “taygee”, am in no way playing by “erik”‘s rules, and therefore am not playing “erik”‘s game).

a wiser “erik” would simply and finally declare “victory” and have no further response to the missives by “taygee”.

  32. The sky is green and the grass is blue. Down is up and up is down. I say that these things are true so they must be right? Anyone who disagrees with me is wrong, even if I can’t prove it right.

  33. So the above troll who literally has nothing to say aside back to the topic at hand:

I do hope that before FF14 comes out that either it is also released on the PS3, or that it takes long enough to come out that it will be released on the PS4. Well that is if in the next generation that Sony gets a tow truck to yank their collective heads out of their collective asses and make a system that will live up to the legacy created by the PS1 and PS2. The legacy that is either on life support or dead by the monstrosity that kills off everything that made the first two successful.

  34. witness his ["erik"'s] persistent insistence that he be engaged in a debate on his own terms, without recognizing the futility of pursuing one ["taygee"] who has pointedly and deliberately made it clear that he would not be engaging “erik” on “erik”‘s terms.

  35. “So the above troll who literally has nothing to say aside back to the topic at hand”

  36. and still “erik” doesn’t appear to get it – but that comes as little surprise.

“erik” has been subjected to an exercise in futility – the exact same kind of futility that “erik” enjoys imposing upon others – though at times “erik” does get a victim to willingly participate…which in and of itself is very pathetic.

    – End case study.

  37. Again:

“So the above troll who literally has nothing to say aside back to the topic at hand”

  38. the topic at hand: “Year of the PS3: Amazon.com’s Top Games – February 2010″ is really, really boring.

  39. Wasn’t it supposed to be Year to the PS3 in 2006? What ever happened to that?

  40. dog years, slim, dog years. little over three human years left…

    I beat BioShock 2.
See what I did there? I talked about videogames, and videogames are good.

  42. @InfaredChimera

Some video games are good, some are not. Some consoles have good games, some (PS3)do not. But still, I’m glad that Square decided to take a chance with the 360 so I would get a chance to actually play the game.

  43. How’d you like it?

How does the SP compare to Bioshock 1?

How does the MP Rate, in your opinion?

  44. I just laughed at Bob Sagget, where as the SDF’s fail at comedy got nothing.
    …BOB SAGGET.

  45. @InfraredChimera

What did you think of the game? I have the original Bioshock but it always seemed like something came up and I was never able to finish it. At the moment, I am JUUUUST about to beat Mass Effect 2 on PC (It made an incredible PC conversion btw, I was about to swear off the PC version before even trying it)

Also, not sure if you noticed my online activity but me and the girlfriend discovered I MAED A GA3M W1TH Z0MB13S 1N 1T!!1 over the weekend and we played the SHIT out of it.

  46. So I’m wondering, what will be lowest score on Metacritic for Heavy Rain? I mean yeah, lots of people will fall for the hype and the graphics. But I’m sure that at least a very small handful will see it as the crap “interactive-movie” that it is.

  47. it’d actually be interesting if someone would compare the Feb ’10 NPD once released with this article.

The results, I think, would make for a curious juxtaposition…

  48. @taygee

I am very interested in those figures as well. http://www.vgchartz.com is a rather nice site for these things too.

It appears that the first week of its release (ending 1/30) pulled 1,031,290 worldwide (which, by the way, is only FOUR DAYS) and another 268,077 the following week (ending 2/6). Very successful launch I would say.

MAG, within its first week (4 days), sold 311,009 and in the same 11 day time frame as MA2, managed to sell 458,254 total. NOT ideal at all.

Also, within the first full two weeks (14 days), the new SMB Wii sold 2,324,957. And the Japanese release was two weeks after the American release (thus not part of that 2.3 Million)

All this stuff I managed to pull from VGChartz.

I belong to the “BioShock didn’t need a sequel” camp, so in all regards I was very skeptical about BioShock 2.
First of all, all sense of awe with Rapture is not there but it doesn’t mean Rapture is still not a amazing place for a game to take place.
The story isn’t as strong as the first game, but it doesn’t mean its shit either and the twist isn’t as amazing but yet it will still get ya. At first the game is very slow to get going (imo), but it steadily picks up towards the end (which about the last 3 hours are just wicked good).
Gameplay wise it plays better than the first game (you got your left hand out for a plasmid and your right for a weapon) and that works quite well. The shooting still feels like the first one and otherwise no real complaints.
So should someone play it if they played the first one? Yes but go in with some cautious skepticism and you will be quite happy with it.
BTW the MP is interesting and actually quite well done but it won’t stand a chance angainst something that is focused on MP gaming. But there is some story elements to it if you wish to delve into it.

As Heavy Rain goes, I think the reason its getting high scores isn’t because of the graphics or the narrative, but more for the attempt to do something different within the adventure/mystery genre.
While the attempt to do something different should get recognized but sites like IGN giving the game very high scores reminds me of another game that did something different but kinda fumbled with it (ie Scribblenauts).

  51. @InfaredChimera

Have you ever seen one of the Dragon’s Lair games back from the, oh I want to say either late 80s or early 90s? I think that is how Heavy Rain is going to turn out. To those who aren’t aware Dragon’s Lair is the great grand daddy to QTE. Imagine a game that is JUST QTE alone.

  52. InfraredChimera Says:
    February 17th, 2010 at 7:02 pm

    @erik

I still love Dragons Lair for the animation and the many deaths of Dirk the Daring. It seems that Heavy Rain is a bit more interactive than Dragons Lair. Either way I got the demo downloaded for Heavy Rain and if I enjoy I will buy it many months from now.
But it is worth to note that I did enjoy Quantic Dreams last game Indigo Prophecy (untill it went all batshit Matrix crazy).

  53. @InfaredChimera

Well we will just have to wait and see if they put in enough game on top of the movie to separate it from some Phillips CD-i interactive movie that makes a sad attempt to pass off as a game. Only time will tell.

But regardless of how the game turns out I cannot allow myself to like it.

  54. InfraredChimera Says:

    @erik

I will save you the trouble, no you will not like it. From what I’ve played its like playing a well scripted, badly written, adventure game with some old school play methods (and not good ones either).
Just by the demo, I’m not too impressed at all. By all regards this will probably be David Cages weakest effort (number one for me was Omikron).

  55. @InfaredChimera

“I will save you the trouble, no you will not like it.”

Uh, well yeah. I mean that is pretty much exactly what I said in the post just prior to your last one.

  56. @mich99

Don’t get sucked into their clever scheme to get more money from people using the more popular platform. They could have thrown in a second disc like Forza without any problems. They WANT to run out of space on the 360 DVD just so they have a reason to charge you for the complete game. They are just using the fact that it uses DVD as a mask.

  57. Blu-ray is not necessary. Nor is it a format suited for gaming. It has an incredibly slow seek time, making both installs and redundant data a must. They could have easily put in a second DVD. But why would they do that when they could just get you to pay extra eh?

  58. Oh yea! Maybe the gaming industry should be stuck on DVD for ever. Its so perfect . Heck, i Wish we were using cartridges still . Pay extra for what? both the 360 and ps3 are in the same price point. You think think its 2007

  59. And situations like this are going to appear more and more as we move farther into this generation. DVD is a limitation . It was good during the ps2 era but not anymore. You cant do much with a 6.8 GB disc. Rockstar even said it themself that GTA4 was gimped because of the 360.Damn we were changing disc in 1999 and its 2010 and we still doing it .
    -FACEPALM-

  60. “Oh yea! Maybe the gaming industry should be stuck on DVD for ever. Its so perfect . Heck, i Wish we were using cartridges still . Pay extra for what? both the 360 and ps3 are in the same price point. You think think its 2007.”

It’s a marketing ploy, you nonce.

  61. Um, Heavy Slain, another CGI movie in the crappy vain of MGS4. Um, no thanks, another dud game for POS3.

I look forward to L.A. Noire and Alan Wake more so than Heavy Rain. At least you have much more control over your characters. With Heavy Rain, you get to press buttons, ooooh, wow, hi tech.

Boring, sales will suck for HR.

  62. @mich99

It IS starting to show it’s limitations but you also have to think..it’s 2010…we are near the END of the generation that Microsoft kicked off in 2005. Its significant price difference due to the lack of blu-ray has paid off and has been doing just fine. The next generation will almost surely be either Blu-Ray though or near absence of a physical media. Sony can keep dragging out their generation if they want, but Microsoft will move on.

Blu-Ray was totally unnecessary this generation. The cost of producing 2 DVDs is less than the cost of a single blu-ray disc. Don’t let the studios make you think that DVD has gimped games. It hasn’t. Also, the PS3′s blu-ray drive had a slow seek time because it was so new (next generation, that won’t be an issue) and also remember how much the cost of the PS3 was inflated when it came out just BECAUSE of Blu-ray. It wasn’t mature enough to be used as the primary format for a mainstream console. Imagine the cost of the 360 if they tried any (at the time) experimental formats? It would be insane. It was just flat out not possible, just like a DVD-based system on the PS1 would be totally out of the question. But what did they do when they ran out of disc space? They didn’t bitch saying “YOU SHOULD HAVE GONE DVD!” They instead just added a second, or third, or even 4th CD and kept moving forward.

  63. I just had another thought too, somewhat related

“Rockstar even said it themself that GTA4 was gimped because of the 360.”

Yet if you remember, the 360 version ran at a higher resolution than the PS3 version for whatever reason. This wasn’t directly effected by what storage medium the game was on, since that is somewhat irrelevant, but still something funny to think about.

Sure, Rockstar could complain that the game was shorter than they wanted it to be due to the lack of storage…or they could do what game companies have been doing for 15 years and throw in a second disc.

  64. “Um, Heavy Slain, another CGI movie in the crappy vain of MGS4. Um, no thanks, another dud game for POS3.”
    It’s a glorified Simon Says.
-Quickly tap X to give a flying shit about this game!-
Oops! Looks like I wasn’t fast enough.

  65. “Yet if you remember, the 360 version ran at a higher resolution than the PS3 version for whatever reason. This wasn’t directly effected by what storage medium the game was on, since that is somewhat irrelevant, but still something funny to think about.”

Lol, yeah. Devs change their stories so fast.

  66. A major 360 fanboy loved a ps3 exclusive game . No surprise there . Here is a quote:

“Considering I am an openly Xbox 360 fanboy it’s hard to admit that one of my most anticipated games of 2010 comes from a studio that develops exclusively for Sony’s Playstation 3, Qunatic Dream. Their first next-gen game goes by the name Heavy Rain, and it hits stores early next week. The reason it caught my attention to such a higher degree than the Call of Dutys and Halos of the world is because it’s completely different than anything available on the Xbox 360 these days . Simply put Heavy Rain is the single best Playstation 3 game that I have played to date and had this been an official review it would be tying Mass Effect 2 for the highest PlanetXbox360.com score – a perfect 10 out of 10.”

    http://www.planetxbox360.com/article_9714/360_Fanboy_Heavy_Rain_is_the_Reason_to_Buy_a_PS3

  67. I loved how he said completely different than anything available in the 360.Here is where sony truly shines with games that break the mold.

    LittleBigplanet
    Heavy rain
    The last guardian
    MAG

They are not afraid of risking it just to advance the industry. While MS keeps milking halo ,I cant think of a 360 game that doesnt have a space marine or a gun.

  68. “Oh yea! Maybe the gaming industry should be stuck on DVD for ever. Its so perfect . Heck, i Wish we were using cartridges still . Pay extra for what? both the 360 and ps3 are in the same price point. You think think its 2007″

Strawman. No the industry won’t nor should they stay with DVD forever. But that doesn’t mean that they should just go to a new format at random. Going from DVD to Blu-Ray IS like going from DVDs to cartridges.

If Blu-ray is so damn awesome then why can’t it run hardly any games without install? If blu-ray is so damn awesome why do the game makers have to put so much redundant data on the disc so the laser doesn’t have to go all that far?

You DO realize that there are more things to take into account with a storage medium than just sheer volume right?

And installs are just so fucking irritating. I’m glad that Mass Effect 2 came on two discs that I can quickly swap.

  69. MAG has guns you fucking doof.

I’m glad that the 360 has games that can stand as, you know, games rather than being just showing off graphics software like Killzone 2.

  70. I’m thinking though that there needs to be a new term for Heavy Rain. I mean QTE “Quick Time Event” signifies an event, as in a short break. But if it is the whole game it isn’t quite an event now is it? Something long and drawn out, like torture. Ergo, QTT.

  71. @ Erik

Haven t you notice that most games that required intalls are mostly 3rd parties? Killzone 2 didnt require one , Uncharted 2 didnt require one , and God of war 3 wont either. What does this show? That those 3rd parties are not doing a good job.

And how is blu-ray a failure? I wouldn’t be surprise if MS make their next console with one. I fucking prey that they dont come with that DVD bullshit again and limit the game industry.

I rather hear the opinion of a professional in the gaming industry about heavy rain than some random idiot on the internet and so far everybody loves it. Plus, Of those 4 games i mentioned , Only mag has guns. Now lets count the 360 part :

    HALO
    GEars of WAR
    mass effect
    left for dead

and they all include guns . Come on MS! can you be a lil bit more original and innovative?

  72. And the PS3 is innovative? Sorry no, high rez bump mapping is not innovative. An interactive movie is not innovative (See Phillips CD-i)

And Blu-Ray being a failure? FOCUS. SLOW SEEK TIME. SLOW LOAD TIMES. Formats are more than just pure size alone. PAY ATTENTION. I can only hope that MS doesn’t do anything stupid like adopt such a poor gaming format like Blu-Ray.

People are sick of generic shit like Killzone 2 and Manraider 2. People are sick of interactive movies like MGS4 and Heavy Rain. Come on PS, can’t you be more original and innovative?

  73. And to be clear from the reviews Heavy Rain is shaping up to be “adequate” and not the smash hit everyone thought it was going to be: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/heavyrain

  74. a 88 aint so bad compared to how you make it look. So tell me erik, What can the oh so powerful 360 offer me that the ps3 cant? what oh so innovative and original games does it have? please mention some spaces marines because i just cant get enough of them.

  75. Well for someone such as yourself who is only looking for all style and no substance graphics expos, or gameless interactive movies, the 360 has nothing to offer you.

So tell me, what does the PS3 have to offer me that will make me turn it ON for the first time in over a month?

As far as your space marines jab. I don’t own either Halo or Gears of War. That is a thin crust of overrated crap that is easily wiped away to reveal a good library.

You see as long as you have a good library that is all that matters. People will overlook system malfunctions and not give a shit about the system specs. That is why the PS2 succeed.

  76. “Come on MS! can you be a lil bit more original and innovative?”

You ridicule MS for being unoriginal, yet you’ve got your nose up Sony’s crack? They’re the biggest copycats in the industry.

  77. And read this.
    http://www.cinemablend.com/games/David-Cage-Buying-Heavy-Rain-Is-A-Political-Act-22945.html
Are all of Sony’s devs as full of themselves, or is it just this guy and David Jaffe?

  78. @Mich99

When the 360 launched, Blu-Ray would have been a horrible idea because 1.) It hadn’t even been LAUNCHED yet (and wouldn’t be for another 7 months), so it was IMPOSSIBLE for Microsoft to adopt it and 2.) The cost, if it were available, would dwarf even what the cost to Sony was since it was a full year ahead of time. So don’t give Microsoft crap for not using Blu-Ray since it was just as likely as Nintendo using CDs for their SNES. Even when Sony launched the PS3, Blu-Ray was in its infancy. The PS3 is only equipped with a 2x Blu-Ray drive, hence the slow seek times and all the awful redundant data required and game installs. The next generation of consoles will almost definitely use blu-ray now because it has matured and improved in terms of gaming use.

Basically, Sony took a gamble and used the PS3 as a platform to push their new movie format, which has been successful. But because it was such a new technology, it not only didn’t benefit gaming, it actually hurt it with its speed problems. If they would have launched with a DVD-based system and waited until the next generation to include Blu-Ray, the PS3 would be MUCH more successful as a gaming system, but their movie format wouldn’t be in the place it is today. It was a trade-off Sony made at the expense of their most loyal fans.

Of course, it’s easy to look back now that it is 2010 and say “well they should have done this or that” but you have to remember how the industry looked and the cost of technology back in 2006. Blu-ray was not feasible for the 360 and it shouldn’t have really been used in the PS3 either, especially when you are going to rely on 3rd party games so heavily that are also multi-platform. Its cool that you have the fastest car on the track, but when the slowest vehicle sets the pace, its just an added bullet with no real world use.

  79. @ Tendonut

How did blu-ray hurt gaming? i havent heard a developer complained about it “Oh no the speed of the driver wont let us fulfill our dreams and goals :*(” . Sure it require some installations from time to time but those installations mostly come from 3rd parties . i dont know about you guys but i rather wait for a 10 minute installation and get it over with . During those 10 minutes i could be making myself a sandwich or looking at the game’s manual book.

  80. And yea thats the problem that the slow car [360] was the one to set the pace. every new technology is going to cost money but those expenses are later lower with time . look at it this way. lets think that DVD and blu-ray are two pieces of paper,If you didnt know developers have to compress alot of stuff for it to fit on a dvd and not a blu-ray. Which equally means that they have to crumble the paper [dvd] and not the one of blu-ray and idk but a clean fresh page looks way better than a crumble one.

  81. @mich99

But you are still missing the fact that the 360 never could have Blu-Ray due to when it was launched and the fact blu-ray didn’t technically exist yet.

Yes, the downfall of Blu-Ray is MINOR at best. I really don’t mind my installs or anything. Not a big deal for me. But the fact that it is even necessary is proof that blu-ray wasn’t ready for gaming yet.

Also, because the leader of the generation was the 360, you have to play by its rules. Developers aren’t going to develop games that the 360 can’t handle, no matter how much power/storage the PS3 is packing. This is just what happens when you put out a system WAY more capable than everything else out there in a multi-platform environment. Sony themselves, since they know the hardware the best and they are not developing multi-platform games, are able to take advantage of the superior hardware of the PS3, which is why most internal dev companies aren’t having the install problem.

Don’t blame Microsoft for the untapped power of the PS3. They put out the most powerful and capable system they could (hardware failures and all) for 2005 and still manage to keep the system in the price range that people were interested in. It’s Sony’s fault for thinking they could take over the generation and shove unusable power down our throats. They have finally stepped back and shrank their ego and realized they will have to settle for 3rd place, but make the best damn 3rd place system they can.

Summary: If every car on a highway is capable of going 70MPH, then the speed limit and roads conditions will only be suited for 70MPH cars. Don’t expect the whole world to change because you release a car that goes 120MPH. You’ll have to wait for everyone to catch up to get any real support for your new increased speed limit/roads you are requesting.

  82. A good comparison would be the new 3D TVs that are coming out. Only a handful of stations will air 3D broadcasts, but don’t go blaming the existence of years and years of standard HDTVs on the lack of 3D TV stations. They were there first, they set the standard, then you come along with your fancy new format that came out years after people bought their TVs and expect TV stations to totally abandon standard HD broadcasts in favor for your new 3D broadcasts? Not going to happen. That’s exactly what Sony attempted. They released a brand new format a year after everyone bought their DVD-based console and expected everyone to abide by the new Blu-Ray format. Not going to happen until the DVD units are phased out completely, which happens to be (most likely), next generation.

  83. @tendonut

And how many people who just jumped into HDTV over the holidays will now be able to buy HD3DTV? The vast majority will not, so I see this as a VERY SLOW adoption.

I have a question for the $ony fanbots here: will the precious POS3 support 3D bluray, or are we doomed to be forced to buy another POS3 with a 3D bluray drive? Knowing how $ony likes to double dip, I bet a new POS3, no upgrade path for current owners! Typical $ony.

    @xbox360ftw

Actually 3D will be included into a system update for the PS3 (if it hasen’t already). So no you won’t have to buy a new console, just a new HDTV if you want that feature. In which you are more than likely right, it will be a slow adoption of 3D sets since it has taken a quite a bit of time for HD sets to take over SDTVs in the stores. Basically it will be a feature that will be probably be included when you buy a new TV in X number of years (if the 3d think is viable any more).

  85. @Xbox360FTW

That’s not really fair either to insinuate that Blu-Ray will be a slow adoption in the gaming industry. It’s just a flat out fact that consoles will require an evolution beyond DVD storage capacity, but this will never happen mid-generation because we know how big of a failure all add-ons are. (you’d never want to FORCE an add-on to continue buying new games). And I will state it again, but Blu-Ray did not EXIST when the 360 launched, so faulting it for not including it makes as much sense as faulting a Packard Bell computer in 1993 for not having a 80GB hard drive.

Next generation, assuming we are still using optical media, it will be Blu-Ray or at least something with more storage capacity than a DVD. The industry WANTS to move beyond the capacity of a DVD, but the timing is just not right. Blu-Ray was released too late and missed the window it needed to be a staple across all platforms.

  86. @InfraredChimera

“Basically it will be a feature that will be probably be included when you buy a new TV in X number of years”

Yes, thank you for that. My thoughts exactly. And you can’t fault older TVs that do not have 3D capabilities for the lack of network/studio adoption of 3D broadcasts, even if their existence is technically why every station hasn’t gone 100% 3D.

  87. InfraredChimera Says:

    @tendonut

But it always seems every 15-25 years 3D comes back in some form or another. Personally I think this is a fad that should just stick to the theaters as a home experience just isn’t the same. As for games imo will be a gimmick (remember Rad Racer?) that will come and go and some games will (and already have) adopted it.

  88. @InfraredChimera

I’d like to think its a fad, but the electronics companies are dumping a lot of money into the technology..maybe this is finally a permanent move? The advantage the TV has over the theaters though, is they don’t require those stupid glasses. They don’t work when you tilt your head sideways and they can cause headaches for some. I haven’t seen a 3D TV in PERSON, so I wonder how it will hold up in terms of long-term comfort.

And you’re a horrible person for reminding me of Rad Racer.

  89. Actually, DOES it require glasses? Phillips has a model that doesn’t apparently, but I haven’t been following it much.

  91. @InfraredChimera

Oh yeah? Well how about Virtual Boy? Yeah, that’ll turn some stomachs and give you a massive migraine.

  92. “i dont know about you guys but i rather wait for a 10 minute installation and get it over with . ”
I buy console games over PC games because they DON’T need to be installed.

  93. “lets think that DVD and blu-ray are two pieces of paper,If you didnt know developers have to compress alot of stuff for it to fit on a dvd and not a blu-ray. Which equally means that they have to crumble the paper [dvd] and not the one of blu-ray and idk but a clean fresh page looks way better than a crumble one.”

And on the blu-Ray paper they would have to repeat sentences over and over and over again. Oh, and you wouldn’t be allowed to read more than one sentence a minute. But hey, blu-ray has lots and lots of space for repeated sentences.

  94. Mich strikes me as a Sony apologist, and possibly a writer for this site.

PS1 – Great gaming system. Sony did good!
PS2 – Great gaming system. Sony starts getting cocky.
PS3 – Great HD movie player, but a mediocre gaming system.

  95. Erik, you are almost as much of a blind fanboy as SDF is.

  96. The PS2 was more than great, it was awesome. If I would be stuck on an island with only two systems it would have to be the PS2 and the SNES. Unfortunately that makes the failures of the PS3 all that more poignant.

  97. You guys are the only ones in denial. Even developers are saying that the dvd is a limitation. As games get more and more advance, A simple Dvd wont be enough .

    http://videoonlinegames.suite101.com/article.cfm/is-the-xbox-360-crippled-by-its-use-of-dvd

  98. Ganes are starting to reach and even go beyond dvd just as they did with cd .

  99. Oh and if you guys didnt know M$ actually charge developers a fee if their game require more than one disc. WOW, you have to punish developers for the limitations of your console? -____-

  100. Microsoft please retire from the gaming industgry.

    http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3169963

  101. “You guys are the only ones in denial. Even developers are saying that the dvd is a limitation. As games get more and more advance, A simple Dvd wont be enough .”

That is just laziness on behalf of the developers. If it can’t fit onto one DVD you use two. If it can’t fit onto two you use three. And still each disc would still run faster than the good-for-movies-bad-for-games blu-ray.

If they can’t be bothered to take such a simple step then how much effort they would put into a product, cut or not, is in severe question.

So the DVD space issue is easily solved. How can blu-ray’s issues be worked around? Oh that’s right, they can’t.

This isn’t hidden knowledge. It is quite known fact that blu-ray is subpar as far as games.

If Sony can’t get their heads out of their asses before the PS4, I really hope they are the ones who retire from the gaming industry. Because I will NOT play their style over substance shit which is taking gaming out games.

And as long as you are putting up url’s so will I. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2007/01/6658.ars

Sad how that glut of space on the blu-ray is used up with redundant data.

  102. I really hope that Microsoft never goes the way of $ony and include a blu-ray drive for any of their systems. I mean it’s sad that $ony hindered their system in order to push their non-gaming sections of their company. And on top of that making it so you have to spend a ludicrous amount of money to fall for their little trojan horse.

  103. So far i havent heard any developer complain about the blu-ray speed and if its bad for gaming than its just hurting sony and not the other companies.
But in microsoft its different because if a developer cant fit something into a dvd then it wont make it to the final game [Unless its DLC] so both the ps3 and pc get shafted just because of the dvd.

  104. “So far i havent heard any developer complain about the blu-ray speed”

    Well:

“Said Bethesda’s Todd Howard, “Drive speed matters more to me [than total capacity], and Blu-ray is slower”

    There you go.

“But in microsoft its different because if a developer cant fit something into a dvd then it wont make it to the final game [Unless its DLC] so both the ps3 and pc get shafted just because of the dvd.”

So Sony’s flaw only effects itself, but the 360 hurts everyone? Do you see the flaw in your logic? and again, you don’t need to cut it from the game or make it DLC. SECOND DISC. Back in the PS1 days Square didn’t just say “fuck it” and do away with 3/4 of Final Fantasy 7 to fit it on one disc.

  105. But let me ask you this. With the exception of humoring InfaredChimera and tendonut by playing games they actually thought I had a snowball’s chance in liking I’ve not turned on my PS3 in… six months? Well six months, maybe more. When was the last time you played your 360?

Just so we’re clear I’m fairly sure that you probably don’t own a 360. Therefore that makes the above a loaded question.

  106. @mich99

With the exception of the resident troll “erik”, no one doubts that DVD is going to be a limiting factor next generation. It took 5 years for it to be a problem for the 360, and as everyone says, just add a second disc.

But again, you can’t fault Microsoft for not including Blu-Ray in their console from the get-go because it DIDN’T EXIST. It’s Sony’s fault for including the drive and letting the storage space go to waste. They knew it was going to happen. It was just too early, plain and simple.

“So far i havent heard any developer complain about the blu-ray speed”

The ENTIRE reason so many 3rd party games have to be installed is because it cuts down on the load times caused by the slow seek time of the 2X BD-ROM in the PS3. If they used a faster drive, it wouldn’t be an issue…but it didn’t exist yet, so it clearly couldn’t have been included.

  107. @tendonut

“With the exception of the resident troll “erik”, no one doubts that DVD is going to be a limiting factor next generation.”

Uh, yeah so before you go off and try to witlessly attempt to pull the troll card perhaps some reading is in order for you. Quoting myself:

“Strawman. No the industry won’t nor should they stay with DVD forever. But that doesn’t mean that they should just go to a new format at random. Going from DVD to Blu-Ray IS like going from DVDs to cartridges.”

  108. @mich99

Oh, and from the link you posted

“This is one of the first signs we’ve received of the 360′s older DVD media showing its age”

It took 5 years before it showed its age. That’s pretty damn good considering we are probably 3/4th of the way through the generation. Next generation though, I will TOTALLY fault Microsoft if they don’t kill off DVD for either Blu-Ray or some other maybe proprietary medium (like the GD-ROM of the Dreamcast or the mini DVDs of the GameCube)

  109. @tendonut

You seriously think that this generation is 3/4 done? we wont see sony or microsoft next console probably until 2015.

  110. @mich99

Assuming they follow the typical 5-7 year generation, yeah. Microsoft will definitely be the first to do it though.

  111. I wonder if erik said the same thing about DVD when the ps2 launched. Maybe something like ” Oh we dont need dvd for gaming , CD is still going strong” .

  112. @mich99

First of all, just ignore erik. He’s just trolling.

Second of all, ehhhh, back in the PS2 era, DVD was more mainstream than blu-ray was in 2006. Imagine if the PS2 was launched before the DVD platform existed. Would you say “SONY SUCKS ASS” for using CDs when the Xbox came out years later using the new high capacity format that they back almost exclusively? It seems to be a minor setback at best that the 360 uses DVD. We are seeing almost no multi-disc games and if this becomes the generation that devs would rather gimp their games than have them span multiple discs, I blame the studios exclusively. You can’t fault Microsoft for not using a format that did not exist when they released their system for the same reasons you can’t blame the nomadic tribes of yesteryear for not using assault rifles.

  113. @mich99 (&tendonut)

“I wonder if erik said the same thing about DVD when the ps2 launched. Maybe something like ” Oh we dont need dvd for gaming , CD is still going strong” .”

Yet again. Some reading comprehension is in order. In this very story I said:

“Strawman. No the industry won’t nor should they stay with DVD forever. But that doesn’t mean that they should just go to a new format at random. Going from DVD to Blu-Ray IS like going from DVDs to cartridges.”

In the next generation of systems DVDs are going to cut it, but they are still going strong this generation. Next generation there will need to be a new format, but Blu-Ray is NOT going to cut it.

  114. By CONSTANTLY ignoring that the two of you are just trolling. There is no other explanation.

  115. Fuck yeah, just beat Mass Effect 2 on PC. If anyone hasn’t played this game (or the first), I highly suggest it. It made a very good PC port as well.

Also, I was bored, so I decided to look up the actual access speeds of blu-ray drives. (Keep in mind, the PS3 uses a slow ass 2X drive, hence the problem with Blu-Ray on the PS3, but not Blu-Ray as a whole)

    1× @ 36 Mbit/s (4.5 MByte/s)
    2× @ 72 Mbit/s (9 MByte/s)
    4× @ 144 Mbit/s (18 MByte/s)
    6× @ 216 Mbit/s[1] (27 MByte/s)
    8× @ 288 Mbit/s (36 MByte/s)
    12× @ 432 Mbit/s (54 MByte/s)

Now, from the Wiki on the 360 hardware, the 360 apparently uses a 12X DVD-ROM, which is 15.85 MB/s. Quite a difference below the 9MB/s of the PS3′s 2X Blu-Ray drive. Thankfully, since Blu-Ray has matured, the access speed of the next gen console’s Blu-Ray drive will be far beyond the speed of the fastest (24X) DVD drive. This is a case and point on why including only a 2X blu-ray drive (all that was available at the time) was definitely hurting gaming, but was irrelevant for movies since they work just as well on a 2X drive as it would a 12X drive. Due to it’s slow speed, the game installs were necessary to eliminate load times OR redundant data which pretty much ruins the whole point of having extra storage to begin with.

TL;DR: Blu-Ray would be perfectly fine for gaming if only they included a faster drive (which was impossible since they didn’t exist in 2006), so it never should have been included in the first place.

  116. Microsoft has a good number of years to devise a new format so I’m not overly concerned about the next generation. But who knows, I might hate the next Xbox and like the next Playstation, as history has shown. I mean when the 360 was announced I could have cared less. The first Xbox was crap to me so the 360 held no interest. On the other hand I was ecstatic when the PS3 was announced. Funny how things can change.

Lets forget to mention that you need to install games to the 360′s HDD unless you want your console to sound like a jet engine.

  123. “Lets forget to mention that you need to install games to the 360’s HDD unless you want your console to sound like a jet engine.”
But you can still PLAY them without installing them.

  124. “But in microsoft its different because if a developer cant fit something into a dvd then it wont make it to the final game [Unless its DLC] so both the ps3 and pc get shafted just because of the dvd.”

No, they use DVD’s size as an excuse, so they can sell you stuff that they purposely cut out, as well as unlock keys for assets already on the disc.
Oh and here’s the ultimate blow against your arguement: FF13!

Less than 1/4 of it is the game’s actual content, the rest pre-rendered crap, and uncompressed audio. It would easily fit on a single DVD, if the cut scenes were in engine.

  125. @slimdefect:

Sorry, after playing games in dead silence on my PS3, I have to install games to my 360 too. The noise without doing so is horrendous and a big drawback to the system.

Also, list is accurate. Care to prove me wrong?

  126. “Lets forget to mention that you need to install games to the 360’s HDD unless you want your console to sound like a jet engine.”

I bet there are some countries that would pay billions of dollars for a jet as quiet as the 360. I mean that would be a hell of a recon jet. Seeing as you cannot hear the disc spinning as long as the tv is on and you are sitting more than three feet away from the console. If the tv is off and you play with your face right up against the console, yeah you might hear some noise.

But I’ve owned toasters which made more noise than the 360.

As far as PS3 installs go “please put cigarette ashes in their place… and go fuck yourself in the ass for the next twenty minutes”

  127. Also I would like to mention that Microsoft adding the function to install games to the hard drive was a really stupid and pointless feature.

Then don’t pay attention to the shit you don’t use and don’t bitch about features you don’t use then. Its really that simple. Also if “stupid and pointless features” annoy you, then stop playing games now and face the fact that what the PS3 and 360 can do will be part of the next console cycle.

“But I’ve owned toasters which made more noise than the 360.”

Because electric coils make alot of noise, and that gives me a idea………………..

  129. “Also if “stupid and pointless features” annoy you, then stop playing games now and face the fact that what the PS3 and 360 can do will be part of the next console cycle.”

Unless they (they being mostly Sony) learn their lesson.

  130. @slimdefect

“No, they use DVD’s size as an excuse, so they can sell you stuff that they purposely cut out, as well as unlock keys for assets already on the disc.”

Absolutely. As I’ve stated many times before, in past generations when games got too big for a second disc, they just added another disc. But now that the current gen systems are very DLC-friendly, they use storage space as an excuse to conveniently charge more money.

A perfect example of this is how Rockstar handled GTA4. They bitched and moaned about the game being stripped down because they didn’t have enough storage on the 360 DVDs, and thus use that to justified charging for the DLC. But if this was a REAL problem, then why did Sony people have to pay for their DLC as well? Why wasn’t it just added onto the blu-ray disc, considering how much extra space they allegedly had?

The inclusion of hard drives by default (for the most part) gave the devs the ability to rely on both patches and dlc to get their games out as early (and incomplete) as possible.

  131. @InfraredChimera

“Then don’t pay attention to the shit you don’t use and don’t bitch about features you don’t use then.”

  140. Trollbusting Round 2. Fight!

    Winner: taygee

  141. Your idea of winner is strange. But really as you don’t consider say, mich99 to be a troll only leads me to believe that Sony fanfags can’t be trolls. But seeing as you are a Sony toady I expect nothing less.

  142. Oooh trying to cause some collateral damage! Classic.

  143. Not as classic as just up and saying that someone who doesn’t share your opinion is a troll. Usually when someone does that they are evading having to defend their point.

  144. Trying to bait the victim by encouraging an additional argument. I’ve seen this done before.

  145. @InfraredChimera

  148. This stuff gets so much lulz in my IRC chats and IMs with people.

  149. Saying that you made an argument that you never made, sort of dumbtastic actually. When your arguments were that I was A: inciting an arugment by pointing out your apparent bias B: That I was trying to cause collateral damage by drawing another individual (mich99) out by stating his apparent trollhood. Though since he is another Sony toady you don’t wish to comment on that.

  150. “This stuff gets so much lulz in my IRC chats and IMs with people.”

    Other Sony drones I presume?

  151. Getting angry. Usually what happens when trolls run out of fuel but desperately want to keep the argument going.

mich99 is a troll too, he’s just not NEARLY as good

  152. Anger? No I expect the guffawing of Sony drones you likely skulk around with. But the fact that you’ve gone from actually discussing anything to ignoring everything and pulling the troll card because, hey, it’s all you can do at this point. But seeing as you are down I won’t kick you. Therefore I will say some things you won’t consider trolling:

The PS3 is the best system ever. You can tell this because it is also the most expensive system, and more expensive means better. In addition there are so many features to lose yourself in that you might forget it even has games.

But if you do remember that it has games it has a great library of games. For starters there is Uncharted 2, which was voted Game of the Year by the respected and high class TV station of Spike TV. From it’s puzzles which are easy enough to not draw you away from the gun fights for too long, or it’s control system which is so intuitive it’s like you aren’t even playing, it is a crown jewel of the PS3 dynasty.

Then there is Demon’s Souls with it’s gripping story. And the bonus is that if you say that you like it, regardless of your true feelings may or may not be, it gets you a lot of hardcore gamer cred.

Or the newest AAAA game on the block is Heavy Rain. I really do this has more than a great chance of winning an Emmy for being the movie of the year… er wait sorry. I mean Game of the Year, because it is so much a game.

  153. Ok.

  154. @tendonut

Don’t sweat it. I’m sure you will formulate some replies eventually. Just sleep on it. When you do you won’t have to hide behind the accusations of me being a troll to distract from you not having an answer

  155. Rad.

  156. Also, terse answers are not going to have any effect. Yeah I know you are going for the “Oh, if I don’t feed the troll he won’t have anything to argue about and will go away” line of reasoning. But really your part in the conversation is pretty moot anyways. So talking to you or with just myself and no second party will be exactly the same.

  157. @tendonut

    It’s official – I love you…in all non-prosecutable ways..

But I do think that it is amusing that the biggest troll here, taygee, has a “thing” for you. That is pretty telling.

Now onto a list of games I plan to buy this year for the PS3:

    Well that’s all.

  165. i wonder what would happen to erik if people stopped responding to him. He would probably be in a very sad and cold world. We should stop posting for a while and see….

  166. @mich99

I assume so. It seems like he just loves arguing with pretty much no one. Like randomly saying something with absolutely no context just to get someone to take the bait so he can go at it and not feel so alone. Like earlier when he did this?

“Now onto a list of games I plan to buy this year for the PS3:

    Well that’s all.”

COMPLETELY out of left field with no context and I literally LOL’ed. Everyone looked over to my desk to see what was going on and got a big kick out of the progression or erik comments. Just ANYTHING to start an argument. Textbook trolling. It’s incredible and I love it.

    @erik

Actually I was adding that the game is poorly written and as a movie it would be complete shit. So nominating it for a Daytime Emmy is basically Oprah and other soaps have a better chance than winning over a game thats trying to take itself seriously with drama.
Badically I’m saying is this, “Heavy Rain while a good attempt at a story intesive adventure game is more of a disappointment. As a game its average, as a movie its shit. Basically Gaberial Knight or a older LucasArts adventure game would be the way to go to get both a good story and gameplay that works.”

  168. “COMPLETELY out of left field with no context and I literally LOL’ed. Everyone looked over to my desk to see what was going on”

And here we see a textbook example of something that is sad. And like I said. I will continue on with or without response. The part of any of you in any of this is moot.

  169. @mich99

ROFL! Look at that! He wants to troll so bad that he will keep doing it without anyone to argue with! THIS IS FUCKING EPIC!! He is so desperate for attention that he will just ramble on with no one to listen just for the sake of rambling!

  170. No, it is just that your theory that I am doing this for the sake of some sort of reaction on your end is completely without merit. So I invite you to take up mich99′s suggestion and stop responding. You are not needed.

  171. @InfraredChimera

You may have totally unsold me on getting Heavy Rain. It felt really hyped up and I was on the fence about it. I just now started playing Assassin’s Creed 2 on my 360 (controller feels better for that game) that I have had since Christmas and until FFXIII comes out, I think I am done buying games for a while, and a while after FF13 as well.

    @tendonut

I’m not saying Heavy Rain is total shit, but the hype for it is rather insane. Like I said before, the reason I’m thinking its getting high review scores is because of the attempt to do something but yet it misses (if not more so) than hits. Two of the most recent examples that comes to mind is Scribblenauts and Mirrors Edge in my opinion.

  173. @InfraredChimera

Then maybe a rent…I’ll keep thinking about it. I am trying to tighten my budget because rent is stinging a bit, so I have cut my game expenses down really low. I bought Left 4 Dead 2 for the big LAN party I was at last weekend (80 people at the high point) and don’t intend on buying anything in the next few months except Final Fantasy XIII.

  174. Movies generally don’t have much replayability. Therefore I don’t see Heavy Rain being worth more than a rental. And even then if you feel like torturing yourself.

  175. http://www.teletext.co.uk/gamecentral/features-reviews/afdb15654d10716dd4592188ebab408c/Heavy+Rain+%28PS3%29.aspx

Ouch. Mind you that isn’t a big game reviewer, so it doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things. But any negative review of any PS3 game is enough to make me smile. Therefore I loved this.

  176. Got too quiet for erik, had to start some trollbait.

  177. @tendonut

What part about listen to mich99′s idea about speaking to or about me do you not understand troll? Now go suck on taygee’s cock or something.

So has anyone seen the videos of some dumbass modder getting fucked by MS enforcement team yet or have heard about it?

  180. Yea i saw it .Didnt he get suspended because he hacked his way to level 70? And he also heavily edited the video to make it look like the mod was the bad guy.

  181. I live on Reddit, so I heard about it yesterday. I immediately felt like the kid was full of shit, and lo and behold, he was. He’s trying to make his side of the story go viral. Too bad Microsoft defended their fellow mod. Awesome.

  182. In the rare occasions that I play any online multiplayer stuff I always turn off voice chat so I don’t have to listen to stupid shit like that.

I got my PS3 Slim last weekend. I have to say I’m definitely impressed with the hardware. It doesn’t sound like an airplane taking off. The console OS is a lot slicker than my 360′s.

The graphics are on par with the 360′s though. I’ve been playing demon’s souls which looks amazing. It chokes on the Havok engine sometimes but not enough to distract from the game. It pretty much looks as good as Oblivion.

  184. I still say to anyone who thinks the 360 is loud they need to A: Turn the tv on. Generally any sound from any game is enough to mask any sound coming from the 360. B: Don’t strap the console to the side of your head while playing.

Again I’ve had some toasters whose buzz while in use was louder than my 360. As far as how my PS3 sounds when it is on, I forget. It’s been so long, and there just isn’t any damn reason TO turn it on, ever.

My 360 is quiet when I use that useless feature of installing games to the harddrive.

  186. I never use that feature. As it is useless and serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever.

    @erik

I would disagee with you up too a point on that installing games to the harddrive is useless. While in most cases the feature doesn’t make a differnce in load times, but in some games there is a noticeable difference.
The most notabale differnce I see when you install a game to the HDD is Borderlands. Moving too different areas does take less time, weapon drop statistics fill in quickly and genrally the texture draw in is reduced as well.

  188. I’ve tried it, didn’t see any real effect worth warrant. So that is good enough for me not to use it again.

  189. And besides, if I wanted to install games to a hard drive I would just use a PC. If consoles want to try to go that direction I will cut out the middleman and just drop them altogether.

2/28/2010, the day Xbox Live kicked PSN’s ass around the block!

  191. Well actually a lot of people now are thinking that it has nothing to do with PSN and is rather an internal hardware/software error. Kind of like a Y2K bug, but even more random.

So for the time being the PS3 failure rate is higher than the 360 failure rate eh?

OK, rented Heavy Slain over the weekend. Played about 4 hours, fell asleep! My 20+ year old Matel Footbal LED game is far more fun than this game. Wow, I am glad I rented and did not buy, total waste of money. Much like MGS4, but worse as far as gameplay! If I want a story, X-Files is much better than this, heck, Psych is a lot better than this.

Maybe some people like this stuff, but why pay $60 for a CGI movie? I don’t get it.

However, I do look forward to PLAYING Alan Wake and L.A. Noire!

Another FAIL for $ony! I think they are banking on God of War 3 to be a sucess, because it’s been a while since they had one! HAHAHAHA.

  193. As the previous God of War games were good I expect that for anyone who can stomach the PS3 it will be “good”. As I cannot stomach the system it will be a hideous blight that I know I will not like even before I play it?

    @InfaredChimera

And you know why I hate it? Because it is on the PS3. I don’t need to play it to know it is on the PS3. It is on the PS3 so I will hate it. Because God of War 3 is a PS3 game I will dislike it. I hate God of War 3 and any games that have come before it or will come after it so long as they are on the PS3.

  194. heavy rain can suck a dick ad final fantasy 13 for both consoles can get the the fuck out of here and ps3 slim is just a smaller ps3 that has more memory but cant play ps2 games and i miss some ps2 video games i want to play again
