In what looks to be a massive (some would say fatal) blow to the Xbox 360, EA announced at Gamescom 2010 that Mass Effect 2 would be coming to the Playstation 3 on January 2011.
Expect the port fully utilize the power of the PS3 which means better textures, faster loading and a more fluid frame rate than the 360 version.

There are only two people whose opinions I respect, Kazunori Yamauchi and myself, and we are in full agreement that Lulza is definitely not a sim. Check for yourself.
Just 23 DAYS!!! Logitech wheels at the ready! You know, the best wheels on the market (which M$haft won’t let you use with your 3$hitty).
Haha I love you guys…
“There are only two people whose opinions I respect, Kazunori Yamauchi and myself, and we are in full agreement that Lulza is definitely not a sim. Check for yourself.”
So you and a biased jap are in agreement. Nice to know.
What good is all this extra power the PS3 boasts, if the only games that utilize it are a meager handful of esoteric exclusives with small fanbases?
Figured I’d throw a little gas on the fire here for the lulz, but did anyone see that the latest firmware update for the PS3 that enabled 3D will disable DTS-Master and Dolby Digital TrueHD audio when viewing a 3D movie? This may not be a big deal to many (including me, because 3D is still not impressing me), but it kind of makes me chuckle when I think about how pumped up that cell processor was for the PS3 for just this kind of functionality, just to have it fall on its face when put under any real stress.

See that everyone? It’s a source. Works out nicely to prove a statement.
Great article! Lol.
PS3 – It only does everything…half-assed.
Our resident PS3tards can’t argue that its just too much for the PS3, because the PS3 IS supposed to be this all powerful behemoth, right? The LULZ have landed.
(which M$haft won’t let you use with your 3$hitty)
Why all the dollar signs when it was $ony who released a $600 fucking “console”.
“Expect the port fully utilize the power of the PS3 which means better textures, faster loading and a more fluid frame rate than the 360 version.”
It’s one thing to like a console simply because you like it’s games, or because you’ve been playing that brand for a while, but making false claims to bolster your e-go is stretching what could be considered rational.
Here’s a video that contradicts your statements about:
- better textures
- faster loading
- more fluid frame rate
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHrw_XGGiyk&feature=player_embedded
Please note that the PS3 took more than 10 times the time to load as the 360, rendered only about half the frames as 360, and the texture quality was far less impressive than on 360.
Also note that I loved the ps2 more than the other consoles of it’s generation, but this time around, 360 takes the cake. Hopefully Sony will get itself together for PS4 and reclaim it’s reputation, because the PS3 ruined it.
Erik, why do you have to ruin a perfectly valid anti-PS3 statement with your garbage comments? If you are going to keep hating on the PS3 because it was $600 a LONG time ago, then you should start hating on your computer because computers were way too expensive for a normal person a long time ago as well. Find a more valid argument (there are plenty) other than you’re butthurt but being a tool and buying it when it was outrageously priced. You tarnish the name of anti-PS3 people everywhere the same way a tea party patriot tarnishes the name of good ol’ fashioned Republicans.
We aren’t talking about a classification of things. Computers is a product which covers a wide variety of companies and models.
We are talking about ONE item from ONE company. So I fail to see just how it is irrelevant. Sure there are more arguments against the PS3, and I agree with every one. But that is really the linchpin. And to boot when someone tries to use a dollar sign with Microsoft it seems a good time to bring it up.
Who cares about 3D?
Nobody, that’s who, not even PS3 fanboys.
Let’s switch to FPS games on Kinect
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euNOPKYFbPc
HAHHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHAHAHA.
@erik
Not quite. To play devils advocate, the PS3 hardware has changed drastically over the years with hardware revision after hardware revision to get the cost lower. The model number changes with each revision, so I suppose comparing it to, say, a HP Pavilion would be a valid comparison. Hardware changes, prices drop, but you don’t start hating on all HP Pavilions because the first one was $5,000, but now they can be had for $400.
Of course, I assume you, like me, haven’t “bought” a built computer in years, but the argument still stands.
Ohwow fails, even by PS3tard standards!
That “who cares about 3D?” sounds an awful lot like “who cares about motion controls?”.
Also, let’s switch to PFS games on Move!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5rDAKyRbw8
HAHHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHAHAHA!
And how about those terrible reviews the Move version of RE5 Gold edition is getting? Just more proof that Move is a very poor imitation of the Wii remote.
Also, as seen at http://blog.us.playstation.com/
” We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.
We’ll have more information for you in the near future.2, but said that it will be coming this “holiday season.”
LMAO! So much for that pathetic little countdown.
At this rate GT5 should be out some time around Forza 5.
oops, sevens2 beat me to it…
Also, have you seen the sales figures for Move yet?
Not even half a million in it’s debut week. Considering the number of PS3s out there, and crushing blow it was supposed to deal to the Wii, I think we’re looking at another Sony failure.
I also love the backpedaling Sony has been doing to market their lollipop.
Correction debut month.
Wow…that makes it an even bigger flop.
I saw the official move “gun”. I don’t see where they get off calling the Wii “kiddy”, the fucking thing looks like it shoots soap bubbles!

Hmmm now where have I seen that color scheme before…

MAG has been updated recently and is very precise with Move now.
Move works fine and is enjoyable and has far more precision and potential than the Wii, whereas Kinect is just pure trash.
Regarding GT5.. it was inevitable. Can’t say I’m surprised, can only laugh really.
title of this article should be changed to “PS3 in desperate need of 360-lost exclusives, as it can’t ship its own…”
@donutboy
“Not quite. To play devils advocate, the PS3 hardware has changed drastically over the years with hardware revision after hardware revision to get the cost lower. The model number changes with each revision, so I suppose comparing it to, say, a HP Pavilion would be a valid comparison.”
That isn’t being the devil’s advocate. That is being pedantic. Despite minor variations and model numbers a PS3 is a PS3. A computer is a lot of things. Comparing the two does not work. A computer is akin to a console. A computer is not akin to one specific type of console from one brand.
As an aside, I didn’t pay $600 for my P$3. I paid $400 for my P$3. And I paid even less for that in cash for trading in my Wii. A mistake I will never live down.
But don’t get me wrong, even at $.01 the P$3 would be overpriced.
But the biggest joke of all is yet to come. FPS games on Move!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
FPS games work fine with move when the developers get the precision right.
But then again you haven’t tried it have you, erik? because let’s face it, you don’t own a PS3.
More precise than the Wii? Riiiiight. Just ask RE5 Gold edition, which is a complete cluster fuck, btw. Only the usual suspects had anything good to say about it. RE4 Wii edition was released in 2007, and functioned perfectly! Hell, not even half the showcase pieces that Sony has put together for Move work properly. Capcom is no stranger to making motion controls work beautifully, Sony just has a piece of shit setup.
The Motion+ add-on can does perfect 1:1. You can get AS precise, but you can’t exceed 1:1. So unless Move alters the time space continuum, Move can only be on par with Motion+.
You say Move is more enjoyable than the Wii? Most places are giving Move lukewarm reviews. Very few people are raving about it.
And there’s that “potential” word again. THE number one excuse of all Sony apologists. PS3 is full of “potential”, but does potential = success? 2006 to present day says “Fuck no!”. Potential doesn’t means shit, when its Sony we’re talking about.
“FPS games work fine with move when the developers get the precision right.”
Blaming the game developers. A classic PS3 fanboy tactic.
@Ohwow
“because let’s face it, you don’t own a PS3.”
I’m sure Grayghoul disagrees with you. Grayghoul being me. Don’t believe me? Send me mail across the god awful PS3 online service fool.
Sure is extreme denial in here.

Watch em. Or better yet, actually use the move for yourselves other than being ridiculously short sighted. (as always)
p.s Wii doesn’t work in 3d space, i.e moving the controller forward and backwards.
Or you can just not watch them and continue to delude yourselves.

Enjoy.
I’m sure you’ll find some way to debunk these videos somehow.
Possibly by using footage from 3-4 months ago.
“I’m sure Grayghoul disagrees with you. Grayghoul being me. Don’t believe me? Send me mail across the god awful PS3 online service fool.”
OWNED!
Ahem, now that that has been settled:
FPS games on the Move!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Jesus, that took like a YEAR to get out of you.
@tendonut
For a while I was worried that if somehow I ever had a stroke, and due to the brain damage of the stroke that I would start to play my PS3 that if I would have to put up with harassment from you fools.
But at this point the system means so little to me if you broke into my house and pissed on it I wouldn’t care.
