Due to the massive influx of mail we’ve received since SDF 2.0′s takeover of the gaming media we’ve decided to reopen and revamp our mailbag section. Here are just a few of the hundreds of letters we’ve received in the past few days alone.
From Rempager:
Hey,
first of all, i love SDF. And here you got a awesome forza gif. If you post it on sdf, please greet HighCaliber . He made this gif. btw “edel” means noble it is german.
sorry for my bad english, i am from germany. and we defending Sony and the Playstation on consolewars.eu

Thank you for the kind words Rampager. We are here to provide unbiased gaming news for the world and I’m glad you are fighting the good fight when and where you can. We encourage all of our readers to spread the truth about Sony and what’s really going on in the video game industry. Special thanks to HighCaliber for the fantastic animated gif. If anyone has anymore animated gifs they’d like posted in future posts, feel free to send them in!
Our next letter is from an Xbox fanatic:
From MasterCheif:
lol wtf ur so bais how can you give forza 3 a 1/10??? greenburg and turn 10 said it wuz the definiate simulate racer out there and i belive dem over a sony sight like you lol stop posting go away
Turn 10 is trying to sell you a product of course they are going to spew hyperbole like “definitive racing sim.” That’s why you need to go to unbiased gaming resources, like SDF, to get the truth. And no, we won’t stop posting until the gaming media follows our lead and provides fair and balanced coverage of the video game industry.
Our final letter is from an ex-fanatic:
From Hipporoot:
Hey SDF!
I’m just writing in to thank you for your website. I used to be a huge 360 fanboy, i paid for live and i even bought avatar clothing (rofl) but after reading your coverage and revealing the truth to me i gotta say im done with MS. last week i went out and bought a ps3 slim and ive not turned on my 360 since. with games like uncharted 2, infamous, god of war 3, gran turismo 5, trico, demons souls and the rest, how could i possibly go back to 360 lol
anyway thanks again and see you guys on PSN!
Welcome to the PSN family! Thanks for the letter but can’t take all the credit as I believe The Slim Effect™ has also contributed to your conversion. Sony is making all the right moves as MS and Nintendo continue to stumble.
Well that’s all for this edition of SDF Mailbag.

This weeks (not so) Monday Mail includes emails sent in about SDF’s controversial Halo 3 review. Some agreed, others didn’t. Here are a few of the emails that stood out amongst the rest.
Trey wrote:
FYI the 7/10 was for single player campaign, multiplayer got a 10/10 and
the overall score was 9/10.
Thought Id send this in an email, doubt you will read it and less likely
post it. If you wanna spin it, say it was that $800 bag of swag they
probably got because they are actual game reviewers working for an actual
company.
Yes you are right. The fact that MS sent all major reviewers $800 worth or ‘swag’ had nothing to do with the near perfect review scores Halo 3 has received. Lets forget about the extremely short campaign, the horrid cutscenes and dialogue and all the rest. Lets not even get into the graphics. Upon first booting up my copy of Halo 3 for review I had to double check and make sure they didn’t accidentally put a Halo 2 disc in it’s place. Yes, it’s that bad. Oh yeah, Halo 3 multiplayer would be a 10/10 if Battlefield 2, Resistance, Team Fortress 2 and Haze didn’t exist and it was 1998.

Great Halo 3 review guys. I’m sure SDF is going to get slammed for going against the grain on this one but wow you really did nail it in your review! Itll be funy in 1-2 years when people look back on this review and be like “you know wat, sdf was spot on”. you wont get the credit you deserve but just know that there are fans out there like me who believe in this site and it’s cause. sdf victory my friends!
Thanks for the email Bosco. We here at SDF appreciate your support through the good and bad times. We also believe our Halo 3 review will stand the test of time and it will be interesting to see what the general consensus of the game truly is after all the Master Chief worship dies down.

Time for another (late) edition of the ever popular Monday Mail. This week we cover a couple emails about smashing systems and a reader begging SDF to change it’s ways…
From Jim:
Dear SDF,I recently obtained a PS3 after about a year of playing my 360. I enjoyed myXbox but when I saw PS3′s mind blowing graphics and Blu-Ray, I realized Ihad been missing out for a year! I played Halo 3 after playing Lair and I was shocked by how bad my 360′s graphics were. I than proceeded to pick my 360 up, drive it to a park by my house, and throw it out my car window. I stomped on it for good measure. Not only did a game like Lair blow any game on the 360 out of the water, but it had awesome graphics too! I hope that all current 360 owners can realize just how shitty your system is. Sony forever!
Thanks for the letter Jim. It’s good that you stomped on it to make sure it was dead but lets be honest here… you were just stomping a dead horse. The way that system red rings it was most likely dead from the harsh journey from your house to the car. It can only take so much abuse!
From Sebastian:
Please, stop writing fanboy-articles. It only breeds hate, which is the last thing that this world needs. I don´t care how much good stuff yoyu write about the PS3, but please stop talking crap about The X360 and it´s games.
We don’t write fanboy articles. We write the truth. We do not sugar coat it like other ad-driven video game blogs nor do we accept $800 grab bags to give Halo 3 perfect scores.

This weeks edition of Monday Mail is a letter from a very frustrated, former Microsoft fan about his encounter with the dreaded, but much expected Red Ring of Death…
Jessie writes:
Note: this is being typed as it happens, so i appologize for any typos (feel free to edit this well enough to put it on the site)
To start, I got the RRoD (imagine that), sent it in for repair and was impressed by how fast they sent out a refurb (took about 2 weeks), but here is where it gets bad, I get my tracking number and punch it in on UPS’ web site to find that my Xbox 360 is being shipped to Los Reyes, Mexico, over 1500 mile from where I live, in Iowa. So i call them and they are “having trouble with their system”, I’m then put on hold for 5 minutes, the guy gets back on the line to ask me my address, phone number and email address, he tells me again he is having trouble with his system and i am put back on hold for another 5 minutes. When i am finally taken off hold he asked me if i requested that my console be sent to mexico, of course, i tell him “no, i asked that my console be sent to <my address> Tipton, IA, in the United States”, he asks me for my tracking number, i give it to him and again, i’m put on hold. when i finally get off he tells me my system is in transit to Los Reyes, Mexico. I told him “I understand that, but that isn’t where i live, i live in Iowa, in the united states” he asks “why is it being shipped to Los Reyes then?” i inform him that thats the reason i’m calling, because i want to know the answer to that question, and AGAIN, i’m put on hold so he can talk to his supervisor, I’m taken off hold so he can again tell me he needs to talk to his supervisor, and once again, put on hold, i’m let off hold and they tell me that i’ll be getting console by the end of next week. needless to say, this was aggravating, on top of everything i will miss out entirely on the Call Of Duty 4 beta and i will be unable to play Halo 3 on the 25th.
MS is bullshit
Sorry to hear about your troubles Jessie. Hopefully you’ll be able to get your 360 repaired with a chance to get a refund on all the games and accessories you bought for the faulty console. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise that you don’t get to play Halo 2.5 on the 25th… stay tuned for our continuing Halo 2.5 coverage leading up to the world’s first unbiased review of the game.

This weeks edition includes SDF praise and emails about a little game called Lair….
SDF Love:
Austin writes:
Thank you for providing the unbiased news that you do. It seems that everywhere I go lately has horribly biased news on the next gen console war and I’m glad there’s a website that I can go to get unbiased news on the PS3 because all other sites have only biased (negative) news on the PS3.
Lurch writes:
Your site is beautiful.
Benny writes:
Thank you SDF for having the guts to stand up for what you believe in. There are so many sites out there full of ‘reporters’ wanting to get into game development therefore they suck the taint of any game dev they come into contact with. It’s so refreshing to hear unbiased, unfiltered, uncensored news for a change. Gamespot, IGN, Kotaku and all the rest could learn a thing or two from you. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the kind words Benny (and everyone else). We here at SDF do this for you guys. Like we said in our mission statement, we cut through the FUD and deliver solid, unbiased stories about your favorite Sony systems. No more, no less.

Bioshock reactions:
Mark wrote:
I would simply like to say that
you guys smell very very bad
the review for bioshock was quite disappointing, giving such a gem game 5/10 is simply because u guys smell bad
and!!! because u guys love ur ps3 oh so much
which isnt that great either
and u guys still smell very very bad
Yes… it’s because we smell bad. Maybe if you send me some soap and shampoo I’d forget about all the flaws Bioshock is riddled with. Or better yet, I’ll just wait for the superior PS3 port. Thanks for the letter.
